  • Why is the "Standard Account" option disabled (grayed-out)

    I just installed Win7 64bit on a new hard drive, and I created a user account through the OOBE. I want to make my user account a standard user. However, if I go into "User Accounts" and select "Change my account type", the standard user option is greyed out--this account apparently has to be an administrator. I thought maybe it was the only admin account on the machine, so I tried to create a new user account named "Administrator", but was told I couldn't, because one already exists. What gives? What do I have to do to run as a standard user?

  • WINEHQ - wine_gecko won't init - HTML Rendering disabled

    Hello Super Users, I'm currently trying to get a windows compiled program to work through Wine to run on Linux and MacOSX. When I run the program through wine, it prompts me to install Gecko which I do. Later on in the program, it attempts to use MSHTML to render HTML but I get these error messages on my console instead. err:mshtml:init_xpcom NS_InitXPCOM2 failed: 80004005 err:mshtml:HTMLDocument_Create Failed to init Gecko, returning CLASS_E_CLASSNOTAVAILABLE fixme:ole:CoCreateInstance no instance created for interface {00000000-0000-0000-c000-000000000046} of class {25336920-03f9-11cf-8fd0-00aa00686f13}, hres is 0x80040111 I'm using Wine 1.1.34 and a similar bug was supposedly fixed in 1.1.33 http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=12578 I've been at this all afternoon, is there anything I'm missing?   • NIC disabled in AWS instance

    Nothing makes you feel dumber than disabling a NIC while in RDP, but here I am :) I have mounted the volume on another instance and tried editing the registry. I have tried enabling auto logon and using runonce to run a netsh command to enable the NIC, but that does not work. I read something about enabling the NIC through the registry directly, but have had no luck in doing this. Has anyone dealt with this type of issue? I'm going nuts! Thank you!

  • Fixing Outlook 2010's notorious 'Disabled Search Indexer' Add-in problem

    I have been impressed with the improvements in search introduced in Outlook 2010. Unfortunately, in the last week search has stopped working for me. I have tried all the obvious repair tasks such as repairing office, disabling all add-ins, rebuilding the index, compacting the PST, but no luck. It appears that 'mssphtb.dll' (Used by search) keeps crashing and as a result Outlook Disables it. I have tried re-enabling it, but Outlook immediately disables it again. I have had a look in the Windows Event Log as well, but Outlook does not appear to log any errors that occur when loading add-ins. A lot of people appear to have the same problem, but no fixes so far. I am considering installing Xobni, but I prefer to make Outlook work the way it is supposed to and not rely on 3rd party applications.

    I'm unable to rate any of my songs using WMP. I've been rating songs on WMP for some time. But suddenly, I can't rate/ change my ratings. I cant do it using the normal 5 star rating control at top of playlist Or using Right click song - Rate - 5 star But I'm able to rate using Windows Explorer "bottom properties pane" that comes on clicking on a file I'm unable to rate using WMP. The ratings don't even change color (gold/grey) on mouse hover. Please give me a solution without losing my existing rating

    I use Vista on a HP pavilion DV2 laptop. When I look through all the services my laptop starts, it really seems there's way too much of it. I multi boot with XP and 7. Both startup in 40 seconds. Vista takes four minutes. Is there some software that can determine which services I don't need? On 7, there's no propietary HP stuff at all, yet it seems to run fine. Because all these service, there's a LOT of them and some just sit there doing nothing, monitoring for updates I don't really need or want or need to know about the second they're available. my laptop is the only computer i use at home, there's no home network, aside from the modem-router, which is cabled, not wifi. Take for instance Parental controls, and stuff for people with bad eyesight, Tablet PC. I really never use any of that stuff. Hope this question is specific enough. I've looked at the other questions but they didn't answer me. thanks, Gwen.

    I have read several posts regarding restricting ALL users to Key authentication ONLY, however I want to force only a single user (svn) onto Key auth only, the rest can be key or password. I read How to disable password authentication for every users except several, however it seems the "match user" part of sshd_config is part of openssh-5.1. I am running CentOS 5.6 and only have OpenSSH 4.3. I have the following repos available at the moment. $ yum repolist Loaded plugins: fastestmirror repo id repo name status base CentOS-5 - Base enabled: 3,535 epel Extra Packages for Enterprise Linux 5 - x86_64 enabled: 6,510 extras CentOS-5 - Extras enabled: 299 ius IUS Community Packages for Enterprise Linux 5 - x86_64 enabled: 218 rpmforge RHEL 5 - RPMforge.net - dag enabled: 10,636 updates CentOS-5 - Updates enabled: 720 repolist: 21,918 I mainly use epel, rpmforge is used to the latest version (1.6) of subversion. Is there any way to achieve this with my current setup? I don't want to restrict the server to keys only because if I lose my key I lose my server ;-)

  • Windows 8.1 update effectively disabled mobile broadband connection

    I have Windows 8.1 on my HP laptop and a Huawei broadband modem which was working fine but since some of the updates of Windows 8.1 it is now not working. I have following issue: Under Device Manager Network Adaptor it shows the Hauwei mobile E303H but when I click on it and go to the Driver tab I can see that no device driver is installed. When I click to update the driver and select the generic mobile broadband adaptor it fails and shows "access denied". How do I go about replacing the driver for this?

    I have an install of IE8 that doesn't have the compatibility view button next to the url bar. I vaguely remember during install that there was a question about whether it was to be available or not, I may have clicked no. Or maybe that was a dream. There are no options that I can see about it being available or not. Anyone know how to enable it? I'm about to try re-install but I'm hoping I can fix it without re-installing.     How do I prevent this? I thought it was due to my antivirus login protection (as can bee seen below) but I have now uninstalled it and the problem remains. Old question: Hi, i am using Rising Antivirus, free version. It has many advanced functionalities, including a "logon protection" that assures the protection of the password, or pre-logon protection. Unfortunately, that disables remote desktop connection until an user has logged on. (user log on, disconnect, then you can connect) I hate this behaviour, someone knows how to disable this function? (ok, i could create a limited user that autologons and then autodisconnects, but i don't like this approach)

I know the Nexus One recently added multi-touch support via an update, and I believe webOS is also multi-touch enabled. Do Android 2.1 and/or webOS have access to multi-touch in the browser, or is this currently exclusive to Apple devices?

  • How do I resize a Google Map with JavaScript after it has loaded?

    I have a 'mapwrap' div set to 400px x 400px and inside that I have a Google 'map' set to 100% x 100%. So the map loads at 400 x 400px, then with JavaScript I resize the 'mapwrap' to 100% x 100% of the screen - the google map resizes to the whole screen as I expected but tiles start disappearing before the right hand edge of the page. Is there a simple function I can call to cause the Google map to re-adjust to the larger size 'mapwrap' div?
