  • Texture will not apply to my 3d Cube directX

    - by numerical25
I am trying to apply a texture onto my 3d cube but it is not showing up correctly. I believe that it might some what be working because the cube is all brown which is almost the same complexion as the texture. And I did not originally make the cube brown. These are the steps I've done to add the texture I first declared 2 new varibles ID3D10EffectShaderResourceVariable* pTextureSR; ID3D10ShaderResourceView* textureSRV; I also added a variable and a struct to my shader .fx file Texture2D tex2D; SamplerState linearSampler { Filter = MIN_MAG_MIP_LINEAR; AddressU = Wrap; AddressV = Wrap; }; I then grabbed the image from my local hard drive from within the .cpp file. I believe this was successful, I checked all varibles for errors, everything has a memory address. Plus I pulled resources before and never had a problem. D3DX10CreateShaderResourceViewFromFile(mpD3DDevice,L"crate.jpg",NULL,NULL,&textureSRV,NULL); I grabbed the tex2d varible from my fx file and placed into my resource varible pTextureSR = modelObject.pEffect->GetVariableByName("tex2D")->AsShaderResource(); And added the resource to the varible pTextureSR->SetResource(textureSRV); I also added the extra property to my vertex layout D3D10_INPUT_ELEMENT_DESC layout[] = { {"POSITION",0,DXGI_FORMAT_R32G32B32_FLOAT, 0 , 0, D3D10_INPUT_PER_VERTEX_DATA, 0}, {"COLOR",0,DXGI_FORMAT_R32G32B32A32_FLOAT, 0 , 12, D3D10_INPUT_PER_VERTEX_DATA, 0}, {"NORMAL",0,DXGI_FORMAT_R32G32B32A32_FLOAT, 0 , 24, D3D10_INPUT_PER_VERTEX_DATA, 0}, {"TEXCOORD",0, DXGI_FORMAT_R32G32_FLOAT, 0 , 36, D3D10_INPUT_PER_VERTEX_DATA, 0} }; as well as my struct struct VertexPos { D3DXVECTOR3 pos; D3DXVECTOR4 color; D3DXVECTOR3 normal; D3DXVECTOR2 texCoord; }; Then I created a new pixel shader that adds the texture to it. Below is the code in its entirety matrix Projection; matrix WorldMatrix; Texture2D tex2D; float3 lightSource; float4 lightColor = {0.5, 0.5, 0.5, 0.5}; // PS_INPUT - input variables to the pixel shader // This struct is created and fill in by the // vertex shader struct PS_INPUT { float4 Pos : SV_POSITION; float4 Color : COLOR0; float4 Normal : NORMAL; float2 Tex : TEXCOORD; }; SamplerState linearSampler { Filter = MIN_MAG_MIP_LINEAR; AddressU = Wrap; AddressV = Wrap; }; //////////////////////////////////////////////// // Vertex Shader - Main Function /////////////////////////////////////////////// PS_INPUT VS(float4 Pos : POSITION, float4 Color : COLOR, float4 Normal : NORMAL, float2 Tex : TEXCOORD) { PS_INPUT psInput; // Pass through both the position and the color psInput.Pos = mul( Pos, Projection ); psInput.Normal = Normal; psInput.Tex = Tex; return psInput; } /////////////////////////////////////////////// // Pixel Shader /////////////////////////////////////////////// float4 PS(PS_INPUT psInput) : SV_Target { float4 finalColor = 0; finalColor = saturate(dot(lightSource, psInput.Normal) * lightColor); return finalColor; } float4 textured( PS_INPUT psInput ) : SV_Target { return tex2D.Sample( linearSampler, psInput.Tex ); } // Define the technique technique10 Render { pass P0 { SetVertexShader( CompileShader( vs_4_0, VS() ) ); SetGeometryShader( NULL ); SetPixelShader( CompileShader( ps_4_0, textured() ) ); } } Below is my CPU code. It maybe a little sloppy. But I am just adding code anywhere cause I am just experimenting and playing around. You should find most of the texture code at the bottom createObject #include "MyGame.h" #include "OneColorCube.h" /* This code sets a projection and shows a turning cube. What has been added is the project, rotation and a rasterizer to change the rasterization of the cube. • Implementing a listview inside a sliding drawer with a listview already present

    - by Parker
I have an app whose main class extends ListActivity: public class GUIPrototype extends ListActivity { @Override public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); setContentView(R.layout.main); final Cursor c = managedQuery(People.CONTENT_URI, null, null, null, null); String[] from = new String[] {People.NAME}; int[] to = new int[] { R.id.row_entry }; SimpleCursorAdapter adapter = new SimpleCursorAdapter(this,R.layout.drawer,c,from,to); setListAdapter(adapter); getListView().setTextFilterEnabled(true); } } I have a sliding drawer included in my XML, and I'm trying to get a separate listview to appear in the sliding drawer. I'm trying to populate the second listview using an inflater: View inflatedView = View.inflate(this, R.layout.main, null); ListView namesLV = (ListView) inflatedView.findViewById(R.id.content); String[] names2 = new String[] { "CS 345", "New Tag", "Untagged" }; ArrayAdapter<String> bb = new ArrayAdapter<String>(this, R.layout.main, R.id.row_entry, names2); namesLV.setAdapter(bb); This compiles, and runs, but the slidingdrawer is completely blank. My XML follows: <SlidingDrawer android:id="@+id/drawer" android:handle="@+id/handle" android:content="@+id/content" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:orientation="vertical" android:layout_gravity="bottom"> <ImageView android:id="@id/handle" android:layout_width="48px" android:layout_height="48px" android:background="@drawable/icon"/> <ListView android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:id="@id/content"/> </SlidingDrawer> I feel like I'm missing a vital step. I haven't found any resources on my problem by Googling, so any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • Android's EditText is hidden when the virtual keyboard is shown and a SurfaceView is involved

    - by Jan
I have a simple user interface: an EditText should be located below a SurfaceView. I use a RelativeLayout to arrange these two views. Now, when I tap on the EditText to open the virtual keyboard the SurfaceView slides up but the EditText is hidden and does not show the typed string. To reproduce, use the following layout XML code: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <RelativeLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:id="@+id/RelativeLayout01" android:layout_height="fill_parent" android:layout_width="fill_parent"> <SurfaceView android:id="@+id/SurfaceView01" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content"> </SurfaceView> <EditText android:id="@+id/EditText01" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_alignParentLeft="true" android:layout_alignParentBottom="true" android:selectAllOnFocus="true" android:textStyle="normal" android:singleLine="true"> </EditText> </RelativeLayout> The main Activity class only needs to show the layout. When I start the program and tap the EditText, the virtual keyboard appears but the EditText field is gone. Maybe the RelativeLayout is causing the problems, but I don't know how to reproduce the same layout with another Layout class. Any suggestions are welcome, I really appreciate your help. Thanks. Edit: Here are two screenshots, one showing the EditText at the bottom without virtual keyboard, one with virtual keyboard but with no EditText. It is interesting to note that the SurfaceView and the EditText actually shift upward, the EditText just disappears. BTW this also happens to a button if it is next to the EditText. EditText below a SurfaceView (left); EditText is gone (right)

  • Is there any way to get an ExtJS GridPanel to automatically resize its width, but still be contained

    - by Micah
I want to include an ExtJS GridPanel inside a larger layout, which in turn must be rendered inside a particular div in some pre-existing HTML that I don't control. From my experiments, it appears that the GridPanel only resizes itself correctly if it's within a Viewport. For instance, with this code the GridPanel automatically resizes: new Ext.Viewport( { layout: 'anchor', items: [ { xtype: 'panel', title: 'foo', layout: 'fit', items: [ { xtype: 'grid', // define the grid here... but if I replace the first three lines with the lines below, it doesn't: new Ext.Panel( { layout: 'anchor', renderTo: 'RenderUntoThisDiv', The trouble is, Viewport always renders directly to the body of the HTML document, and I need to render within a particular div. If there is a way to get the GridPanel to resize itself correctly, despite not being contained in a ViewPort, that would be ideal. If not, if I could get the Viewport to render the elements within the div, I'd be fine with that. All of my ExtJS objects can be contained within the same div. Does anybody know of a way to get a GridPanel to resize itself correctly, but still be contained inside some non-ExtJS-generated HTML?

    - by xueru
I am trying to use a custom title to include an image button to the title bar. I got a lot of help form this post: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2569753/android-adding-button-to-the-title-of-the-app, but could not get it work for my ListActivity. In a nutshell, following is what I have: I hide the titlebar in the AndroidManifest.xml The specify a relative layout for the custom title (workorder_list_titlebar.xml) My Activity Class looks like the following: public class WorkOrderListActivity extends ListActivity { String[] orders={"WO-12022009", "WO-12302009", "WO-02122010", "02152010"}; @Override public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); requestWindowFeature(Window.FEATURE_CUSTOM_TITLE); this.getWindow().setFeatureInt(Window.FEATURE_CUSTOM_TITLE, R.layout.workorder_list_titlebar); setContentView(R.layout.workorder_list); setListAdapter(new ArrayAdapter(this,R.layout.workorder_list, R.id.label,orders)); } } When I ran the app, I got AndroidRuntimeException: You cannot combine custom titles with other title features. Base on the stack trace, the exception was thrown by com.android.internal.policy.impl.PhoneWindow.requestFeature(PhoneWindow.java:183), that was triggered by setlistAdapter call. Does anyone have the same problem with ListActivity? Also once I manage to get this work, how do I attach listeners to the image button for it to do something? Thanks in advance.

  • Android's RelativeLayout Unit Test setup

    - by dqminh
i'm trying to write an unit test for my Android's RelativeLayout. Currently, my testcode setup is as follow: public class SampleRelativeLayoutTest extends AndroidTestCase { private ViewGroup testView; private ImageView icon; private TextView title; @Override protected void setUp() throws Exception { super.setUp(); // inflate the layout final Context context = getContext(); final LayoutInflater inflater = LayoutInflater.from(context); testView = (ViewGroup) inflater.inflate(R.layout.sample_layout, null); // manually measure and layout testView.measure(500, 500); testView.layout(0, 0, 500, 500); // init variables icon = (ImageView) testView.findViewById(R.id.icon); title = (TextView) testView.findViewById(R.id.title); } However, I encountered NullPointerException with the following stack trace java.lang.NullPointerException at android.widget.RelativeLayout.onMeasure(RelativeLayout.java:427) at android.view.View.measure(View.java:7964) at com.dqminh.test.view.SampleRelativeLayoutTest.setUp(SampleRelativeLayoutTest.java:33) at android.test.AndroidTestRunner.runTest(AndroidTestRunner.java:169) at android.test.AndroidTestRunner.runTest(AndroidTestRunner.java:154) at android.test.InstrumentationTestRunner.onStart(InstrumentationTestRunner.java:430) at android.app.Instrumentation$InstrumentationThread.run(Instrumentation.java:1447) What should I change in my setUp() code to make the test run properly ?

  • log4j additivity, category logging level and appender threshold

    - by GBa
I'm having troubles understanding the relation between additivity, category logging level and appender threshold... here's the scenario (my log4j.properties file): log4j.category.GeneralPurpose.classTypes=INFO, webAppLogger log4j.additivity.GeneralPurpose.classTypes=true log4j.category.GeneralPurpose=ERROR, defaultLogger log4j.additivity.GeneralPurpose=false log4j.appender.webAppLogger=org.apache.log4j.RollingFileAppender log4j.appender.webAppLogger.File=webapps/someWebApp/logs/webApp.log log4j.appender.webAppLogger.MaxFileSize=3000KB log4j.appender.webAppLogger.MaxBackupIndex=10 log4j.appender.webAppLogger.layout=org.apache.log4j.PatternLayout log4j.appender.webAppLogger.layout.ConversionPattern=%d [%t] (%F:%L) %-5p - %m%n log4j.appender.webAppLogger.Encoding=UTF-8 log4j.appender.defaultLogger=org.apache.log4j.RollingFileAppender log4j.appender.defaultLogger.File=logs/server.log log4j.appender.defaultLogger.MaxFileSize=3000KB log4j.appender.defaultLogger.MaxBackupIndex=10 log4j.appender.defaultLogger.layout=org.apache.log4j.PatternLayout log4j.appender.defaultLogger.layout.ConversionPattern=%d [%t] (%F:%L) %-5p - %m%n log4j.appender.defaultLogger.Encoding=UTF-8 insights: category GeneralPurpose.classTypes is INFO category GeneralPurpose.classTypes has additivity TRUE category GeneralPurpose is ERROR category GeneralPurpose has additivity FALSE with the current configuration I would have assumed that INFO messages sent to category GeneralPurpose.classTypes.* would be only logged to webAppLogger since the parent logger (cateogry) is set with ERROR level logging. However, this is not the case, the message is logged twice (one in each log file). Looks like the ERROR logging level for the parent category is not taken into consideration when the event is sent as part of additivity... is my observation correct or am I missing something ? how should I alter the configuration in order to achieve only ERROR level loggings in server.log ? thanks, GBa.

  • Hello, TabWidget each tab refer to new xml

    - by Clozecall
    Hey everyone I'm using Google's exmaple of Hello, TabWidget but altered it to look like this: main.xml: <LinearLayout android:orientation="vertical" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent"> <TabWidget android:id="@android:id/tabs" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" /> <FrameLayout android:id="@android:id/tabcontent" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent"> <TextView android:text="@+layout/text" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent" /> <TextView android:id="@+id/textview2" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent" android:text="this is another tab" /> <TextView android:id="@+id/textview3" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent" android:text="this is a third tab" /> </FrameLayout> </LinearLayout> java file: public class HelloTabWidget extends TabActivity { public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); setContentView(R.layout.main); TabHost mTabHost = getTabHost(); mTabHost.addTab(mTabHost.newTabSpec("tab_test1").setIndicator("TAB 1").setContent(R.layout.text)); mTabHost.addTab(mTabHost.newTabSpec("tab_test2").setIndicator("TAB 2").setContent(R.id.textview2)); mTabHost.addTab(mTabHost.newTabSpec("tab_test3").setIndicator("TAB 3").setContent(R.id.textview3)); mTabHost.setCurrentTab(0); } } and here is the text.xml in res/layout: <LinearLayout android:id="@+id/LinearLayout01" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent" xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" > <TextView android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:text="This is Tab 1" /> What I'm basically trying to do is have each tab refer to its own xml file rather than all in main.xml, but the text in the first tab doesn't show up.

Here is my current log4j settings file. Are these settings ideal for production use or is there something I should remove/tweak or change? I ask because I was getting all my threads being hung due to log4j blocking.
