• Passenger apache default page error

  Sorry if this is the wrong place to ask this question. I asked it a couple of days ago on Server Fault but am getting no love. (It is sort of related to rails development...) The Question I just installed Passenger and the Passenger Pref Pane on OSX. However, when I try to browse to one of my Rails applications I just get the default Apache "it works!" page. I've checked the vhost definitions and they seem ok so I can't seem to figure out whats wrong... I've tried reinstalling passenger and the pref pane and restarting apache but to no avail. Anyone know how to fix this? My vhost definition looks like this: <VirtualHost *:80> ServerName boilinghot.local DocumentRoot "/Users/ganesh/Code/boilinghot/public" RailsEnv development <Directory "/Users/ganesh/Code/boilinghot/public"> Order allow,deny Allow from all </Directory> </VirtualHost>

  How can I mock an array's sort expect a lambda expression? • Compass Rails 3.0 working with 'compass watch' but not without

  I'm trying Compass with Rails 3.0.7, just trying to get started. Using gem compass-rails. If I put my sass file in app/assets/stylesheets and run 'compass watch', everything works ok: the compiled css is put into public/stylesheets. However, if I stop 'watch' and rely on Rails to do the compilation, it does not work. Instead, the program looks at the public/stylesheets/sass folder for the input. Furthermore, if a file in that folder has the '@include "compass"' directive, I get an error that the file is not found. How do I force Rails to look in the right place -- app/assets/stylesheets?

• Send instance method to module

  Given the following module, module Foo def bar :baz end end def send_to_foo(method) # ...? end send_to_foo(:bar) # => :baz What code should go in send_to_foo to make the last line work as expected? (send_to_foo is obviously not how I would implement this; it just makes clearer what I'm looking for.) I expected Foo.send(:bar) to work at first, but it makes sense that it doesn't. It would if the method were defined as def self.bar, but that's no fun.

  I have written the following code in my Rails app to generate XML. I am using Aptana IDE to do Rails development and the IDE shows a warning that the code structure is identical in both the blocks. What changes can be done to the code to remove the duplicity in structure?   Consider a class: class Link < ActiveRecord::Base has_many :link_votes, :as => :vote_subject, :class_name => 'Vote' has_many :spam_votes, :as => :vote_subject, :class_name => 'Vote' end The problem is, when I'm adding a new vote with @link.link_votes << Vote.new the vote_subject_type is 'Link', while I wish it could be 'link_votes' or something like that. Is this an AR limitation or is there a way to workaround this thing?   Using rails3 - I have a project with many tasks. I want to use javascript to build the UI for each task. I figured I could display those tasks on the projects show page by rendering a javascript partial for each. I can't get 'tasks/show' to see tasks/show.js.erb Any ideas? • Red Box is not working

  Hi , I have install the Red box plugin by using the following command script/plugin install svn://rubyforge.org/var/svn/ambroseplugins/redbox . It installed successfully. and again ran the following command the following location /myapp/vendor/plugin/redbox/rake update_scripts . It shows me the following output (in /myapp/vendor/plugins/redbox) rake aborted! private method `copy' called for File:Class /home/myapp/vendor/plugins/redbox/Rakefile:28 (See full trace by running task with --trace) I don't know How to solve this ... Then i understand that "rake update_scripts" copying the Js and Css file only. so i manually copied the Redbox.js & redbox.css files into the respective places under /public folder I include the follwoing into my application.html.erb <%= stylesheet_link_tag 'redbox' % <%= javascript_include_tag :defaults % <%= javascript_include_tag 'redbox' % It included in the page successfully. • Searchlogic cannot sort search result

  Imagine a code: search = Project.search( :title_or_description_or_child_name_or_child_age_or_inspiration_or_decorating_style_or_favorite_item_or_others_like_any => keys, :galleries_id_like_any => @g, :styles_id_like_any => @st, :tags_like_any => @t ) search.all returns the rows correctly. But search.descend_by_views returns nil. Is this gem buggy? What else should I use then?

However, some functionality of the script requires superuser privileges. What is the most sane way to run this script securely? It is being passed arguments from a web form, but should only be able to be called by authenticated (and trusted) users.

  I keep getting 401 when trying to login via Oauth with Twitter. I'm using twitter_oauth-0.3.3 with oauth-0.3.6 in rails It used to work perfectly some time ago, so after some digging, I realised it might have something to do with my timezone. In the headers of the Twitter response, one of them is: date: - Sun, 11 Apr 2010 16:53:34 GMT Even though the time is actually 17:53:34 BST I'm assuming the request is signed using BST time, and so it fails. Anyone had this problem / found a fix for it?

• Setting a cookie before Javascript Redirection

  Hello, I have a Rails app where I set a set a session variable the moment a user lands on my site with the referer and the page they hit. Additionally, I have Google Optimizer sending traffic from my homepage to various landing pages. The problem is that I think Google Optimizer is sending users away before the cookie is set. Is that even possible? I believe that the cookie is set from the HTTP Header, which must have fully loaded before Google's Javascript has even loaded. Thanks, Jason

While inspecting the link, it displays the following: onclick="jQuery('#bulk_action').val('bulk_add_to_categories'); jQuery('#bulk_form').submit(); return false;" But when I click on it I get this error. I need to do something like this I need to have an separate UI for all the products that have came from that bulk action, and then put them into the selected categories, but I am not able to do that. • multiple records using the select_tag

  I'm attempting to display multiple records, with each record displaying its own selection box. I would like to submit this form and pass a hash, having the Add.id function as the key of the hash, and the selection box option pass as the information in the hash. • Rails: find by day of week with timestamp

  I need to grab the records for same day of the week for the preceeding X days of the week. There must be a better way to do it than this: Transaction.find_by_sql "select * from transactions where EXTRACT(DOW from date) = 1 and organisation_id = 4 order by date desc limit 7" It gets me what I need but is Postgres specific and not very "Rails-y". Date is a timestamp. Anyone got suggestions?
