• How Do I Prevent Rails From Treating Updated Nested Attributes Differently From New Nested Attribute

  I am using rails3 beta3 and couchdb via couchrest. I am not using active record. I want to add multiple "Sections" to a "Guide" and add and remove sections dynamically via a little javascript. I have looked at all the screencasts by Ryan Bates and they have helped immensely. The only difference is that I want to save all the sections as an array of sections instead of individual sections. Basically like this: "sections" => [{"title" => "Foo1", "content" => "Bar1"}, {"title" => "Foo2", "content" => "Bar2"}] So, basically I need the params hash to look like that when the form is submitted. When I create my form I am doing the following: <%= form_for @guide, :url => { :action => "create" } do |f| %> <%= render :partial => 'section', :collection => @guide.sections %> <%= f.submit "Save" %> <% end %> And my section partial looks like this: <%= fields_for "sections[]", section do |guide_section_form| %> <%= guide_section_form.text_field :section_title %> <%= guide_section_form.text_area :content, :rows => 3 %> <% end %> Ok, so when I create the guide with sections, it is working perfectly as I would like. The params hash is giving me a sections array just like I would want. The problem comes when I want edit guide/sections and save them again because rails is inserting the id of the guide in the id and name of each form field, which is screwing up the params hash on form submission. Do I have to create a custom form builder? Is there some other trick I can do to prevent rails from putting the id of the guide in there? I have tried a bunch of stuff and nothing is working.   I'm embarking on a project in which users will author, save, and share their own maps over the web. We will provide them with a large number of feature classes, but users will effectively author their own maps, map symbologies, etc. Furthermore, they will create and edit their own feature classes, which they can both map and share with other users. The model for AGS map services seems to be: author a map in ArcMap, save an MXD/MSD, publish. I'm struggling to understand how this can help us build a dynamic web mapping platform as described above. Can anyone offer some tips on how to go about it?

• MkMapView setRegion animation prevents touch events on Annotation Views

  Hi there! We have a MKmapView with a bunch of Image Annotation where each Image annotation responds to touch by overriding these methods of AnnotationView subclass: -(void)touchesBegan:(NSSet *)touches withEvent:(UIEvent *)event; -(void) touchesEnded:(NSSet *)touches withEvent:(UIEvent *)event Our map region is updated using [MkMapView setRegion:animated:] whenever the new location is received and is far enough from the old location to make a difference. What I noticed is that if we set animated flag to YES the touches on our annotation are rarely detected(probably due to the fact that main thread is busy animating between two map regions. When we set animated flag to NO, everything is fine, but map transition may(or may not) become jerky. The question I have is whether this is an expected behavior of animated flag of [MkMapView setRegion:animated] function or whether there is a workaround for this issue. Thanks in advance

  The error "error parsing XML: unbound prefix" shows up on my main layout: main.xml when I first open Eclipse. To make the error go away, all I have to do is make a modification to the file, then undo it, then hit save (have to make a change in order to be able to save file and thus trigger the new syntax check). My environment is: Fedora Eclipse Platform Version: 3.4.2 Based on build id: 20090211-1700 My target is Android API level 5. The first time I saw the error I spent a long time trying to track down "the problem" but later realized there isn't really a problem, it's just a phantom error. • I want to port my delicious bookmarks to my website

  I started building a app that will automatically download my delicious bookmarks, and save to a database, so they I can view them on my own website in my favoured format. I am forced to use oAuth, as I have a yahoo id to login to delicious. The problem is I am stuck at the point where oAuth requires a user to manually go and authenticate. Is there a code/ guidelines available anywhere I can follow? All I want is a way to automatically save my bookmarks to my database. Any help is appreciated. I can work on java, .net and php. Thanks.

If i create the repository on the root of the svn folder i can see the repository (http://domain.com/code/t1) when i try the other urls i get the error Could not open the requested SVN filesystem My question is, It is possible to do a search in all subfolders looking for svn repositories?

• Using Propel ORM in my own custom classes

  I am refactoring a few classes I wrote a while ago, into my Symfony project (v1.3.2 with Propel ORM). The classes originally used direct connections to the database, I want to refactor those classes (stored in $(SF_LIB_DIR)) so that I can call propel and also use the ORM objects. To clarify, So for example, I want to be able to use code like this in my custom classes: try { $con = Propel::getConnection(); $c = new Criteria(); $foo = new PropelORMFooObject(); $foobar = PropelORMFooBarObjectPeer::fetch($c); //set fields etc $foo->setFooBar($foobar); // now save using obtained connection .. $foo->save($con) }catch(SomeException $e) { //deal with it } I assume that I will need to add some require_once() statements to my custom libraries, but it is not clear which files to include. Does anyone know how to do this?

• Using IIRF to redirect to a PDF

  I'm using IIRF to redirect certain URLs to specific PDF files. For instance, for the URL /newsletter/2010/02 I'd like it to redirect to /pdf/newsletters/Feb2010.pdf. I'm not too hot at regular expressions, but I created the following rule: RedirectRule ^/newsletter/2010/01 /pdf/newsletters/Newsletter012010.pdf [I,R=301] and it does redirect, but the address bar doesn't change, and when trying to save the file it wants to save as 01 instead of Feb2010.pdf. I don't presume my users will be savvy enough to enter a PDF extension before saving, and they shouldn't have to. Is there anything I can do about this?

• Dynamic Overlays slowing down Google Maps (Android 2.1) on Nexus One

  Hi, I'm trying to create a dynamic ItemizedOverylay (please see the code below) on Google Maps (Android 2.1) on a Nexus One. In my Activity (that extends MapActivity) I'm creating a data thread that is receiving data from the network. A 'handler' is used to communicate the data from the receiving thread to map activity. This data contains the locations (lat, lon) of the markers that I want to overlay on my map. The location of each marker is dynamic (i.e., it changes every time I receive new data from the network.) refreshItems(ArrayList<OverlayItem> newItems) method in invoked inside the handleMessage() of the handler. There are around 11 markers in the ArrayList that is passed to refreshItems I can see the markers overlayed on the map. However, I've two issues: The old markers are not removed from the map. After a while I see a trail of markers. The map doesn't respond to any touch commands. I cannot move the map or zoom in or zoom out. After a while I see a system warning that my app is not responding message. Any idea what's wrong here ?   I have two files which show all contats in a database, then edits them. The second script keeps directing the browser back due to this part. • Tortoise SVN tree conflict with myself

  Has anyone had the experience of moving a file in tortoise and committing successfully, only to later commit a different change and be told of a tree conflict where: the file in its original location has been deleted, but in tortoise is marked as missing the file in its new location is there, but marked as already added. (I use tortoise SVN, and we have client and server 1.60) Nobody else changed either the directory or the file (according to svn log). Why is this happening? Is there a way to avoid it happening? If it does happen, is there a more elegant way of fixing the problem than by deleting the whole folder and updating again?

• Problem with running php script using mysql on tomcat

  I am using tomcat 6 with JavaBridge. I have stored my php script in the following location. C:\Program Files\apache-tomcat-6.0.26\webapps\JavaBridge\project\test.php In test.php I am using curl and mysql. The php.ini in JavaBridge is stored in the following location C:\Program Files\apache-tomcat-6.0.26\webapps\JavaBridge\WEB-INF\cgi\php.ini and its contents are - extension_dir="C:\Program Files\apache-tomcat-6.0.26\webapps\JavaBridge\WEB-INF\cgi\x86-windows\ext" include_path="C:\Program Files\apache-tomcat-6.0.26\webapps\JavaBridge\WEB-INF\pear;." there is also a config file called mysql.ini whose contents are - extension = php_mysql.dll I had also installed wamp earlier so I copied all the dll's from C:\wamp\bin\php\php5.3.0\ext to C:\Program Files\apache-tomcat-6.0.26\webapps\JavaBridge\WEB-INF\cgi\x86-windows\ext When I start tomcat and run my script I get the following error - Fatal error: Call to undefined function mysqli_connect() in C:\Program Files\apache-tomcat-6.0.26\webapps\JavaBridge\project\test.php on line 534 Please help.

• VB.NET localization

  In my winform app in VB.NET I want to use the localization option. But i have a few questions/problems. I'm using a menu strip to select an other language. But it seems that is doesn't change my menustip text to my selected language. It does change my labels, buttons, and textboxes but menu strips don't seem to change when I choose another language. Also is it possible to get those resx files such as MyForm.fr-FR.resx compiled so it isn't an external file outside my app? Or to get those files in an Language folder at the same location of my app, so i don't have all those fr-FR, nl-Nl folders in the same location as my program?

• mysql good way of programing

  i have the video gallery in my database, which has over 200 000 videos. in my home page in the site i show exactly some videos, which must satisfy to some criteria. and so, what is the question. is it a good way to sort videos every time the home page opene, or i must save the sort results somewhere in the database, and refresh them only if something change. i think it can save me a lot of time. what you think about it. thanks in advance.

• Extracting information from PDFs of research papers

  I need a mechanism for extracting bibliographic metadata from PDF documents, to save people entering it by hand or cut-and-pasting it. At the very least, the title and abstract. The list of authors and their affiliations would be good. Extracting out the references would be amazing. Ideally this would be an open source solution. The problem is that not all PDF's encode the text, and many which do fail to preserve the logical order of the text, so just doing pdf2text gives you line 1 of column 1, line 1 of column 2, line 2 of column 1 etc. I know there's a lot of libraries. It's identifying the abstract, title authors etc. on the document that I need to solve. This is never going to be possible every time, but 80% would save a lot of human effort.

• Using Add-on SDK to add toolbar buttons? Integrating XUL and Add-on SDK for Firefox Add-ons?

  I have already coded most of a Firefox add-on using the Add-on SDK API. I am now discovering that Add-on SDK might not be powerful enough for my purposes. I need two things: A drop down button in the toolbar next to the location bar. To modify the add-ons manager in firefox It is truly disappointing, but I don't believe either of these is possible with the Add-on SDK. First of all, I understand there is a widget module in the Add-on SDK API. But this only allows me to add a simple icon or label to the awkward add-on bar. What if I need to add a nicer button like the one next to the location bar for Firebug or Greasemonkey? As for modifying the add-ons manager in firefox, I have tried Nickolay Ponomarev's XUL with the Add-on SDK without any success whatsoever. If anyone knows how to get this working and can point me in the right direction that would be extremely helpful (cfx init --template xul doesn't do anything the regular SDK does when I try it)
