• How to add Transactions with a DataSet created using the Add Connection Wizard?

  I have a DataSet that I have added to my project where I can Insert and Add records using the Add Query function in Visual Studio 2010, however I want to add transactions to this, I have found a few examples but cannot seem to find one that works with these. I know I need to use the SQLClient.SQLTransaction Class somehow. I used the Add New Data Source Wizard and added the Tables/View/Functions I need, I just need an example using this process such as How to get the DataConnection my DataSet has used. Assuming all options have been set in the wizard and I am only using the pre-defined adapters and options asked for in this wizard, how to I add the Transaction logic to my Database. For example I have a DataSet called ProductDataSet with the XSD created for this, I have then added my Stock table as a Datasource and Added an AddStock method with a wizard, this also if a new item calls an AddItem method, if either of these fails I want to rollback the AddItem and AddStock in this case.

• Zend_Auth using multiple tables

  What I'm trying to do is use Zend_Auth for authentication with the issuing being that the 'identity' is stored in a different table then then 'credential.' I'm able to pass an array for the credential and the identity but when it comes to the actual tables I'm not able to get it to accept the array. It ignores the 2nd table name. I was wondering if anyone has ever made this work in this way without extending the Zend_Auth class or if I will need to do so. Thanks in advance.

  I have a login form for my website. This login form have two text fields, username and password. Currently I am placing labels(username, password) just before textfields. But now I want to removed these two labels and want to show text(username, password) inside textfield. When user focuses on these textfields then texts should be removed and user can enter his desired username and password. I have also noticed that when user open a login form then font color of text(username, password) populated in textfield(username, password) is of diffent color and when user start typing in that field then previous text is removed and new font color is black. How is it possible?

  I have a mixed mode C++-CLI program in Visual Studio 2005 that is set to use the /SUBSYSTEM:Windows. Generally speaking it is a graphical application that is launched from its shortcut or through the filetype registered to it. However, there is a rare occasion where a user will want to run it from the command line with arguments. I can access the arguments just fine, its when it comes to writing to the console, in response to the program being launched from the command line with arguments, where I don't see Console::WriteLine having any effect. What am I doing wrong?

• Way to get VS 2008 to stop forcing indentation on namespaces?

  I've never really been a big fan of the way most editors handle namespaces. They always force you to add an extra pointless level of indentation. For instance, I have a lot of code in a page that I would much rather prefer formatted as namespace mycode{ class myclass{ void function(){ foo(); } void foo(){ bar(); } void bar(){ //code.. } } } and not something like namespace mycode{ class myclass{ void function(){ foo(); } void foo(){ bar(); } void bar(){ //code.. } } } Honestly, I don't really even like the class thing being indented most of the time because I usually only have 1 class per file. And it doesn't look as bad here, but when you get a ton of code and lot of scopes, you can easily have indentation that forces you off the screen, and plus here I just used 2-space tabs and not 4-space as is used by us. Anyway, is there some way to get Visual Studio to stop trying to indent namespaces for me like that?

• Custom Template and Layered Navigation

  I created a custom template for the category view that displays all subcategories for current category. When i set the current category as is_anchor = yes in the admin, the layered navigation filters show up in the side bar. The Sub categories is one of the filters are there as well, but when i click on one them the page still displays all subcategories. I would like to some how test for active filters in my custom template, which i assume there has to be a way to get this info from Magento. Below is my custom code. $_filters is how i am trying to access these filters, but it gives me nothing. • Cannot get new product attribute in grid display

  I added a new attribute to my products(a boolean "yes/no" field). It is a variable to enable/disable the price from displaying on the product detail page, and grid view. I managed to get it work on the product info page. But on product grid page I cant seem to access that variable. Specifically, the template i am working with is catalog/product/price.phtml. From what i can tell, the price is being displayed by the same group of if-statements on both the product detail page, and grid page. This has me confused because i cant find any code on that template to handle multiple products, just a bunch of nested if statements. this is how im attempting to access this new variable using $_displayPrice. on line 36 of catalog/product/price.html <?php $_product = $this->getProduct(); ?> <?php $_id = $_product->getId() ?> <?php $_displayPrice = $_product->getDisplayPrice() ? • How to debug and detect hang issue

  I am testing my application (Windows 7, WinForms, Infragistics controls, C#, .Net 3.5). I have two monitors and my application saves and restores forms' position on the first or second monitors. So I physically switched off second monitor and disabled it at Screen Resolution on the windows display settings form. I need to know it is possible for my application to restore windows positions (for those windows that were saved on the second monitor) to the first one. I switched off second monitor and press Detect to apply hardware changes. Then Windows switched OFF the first monitor for a few seconds to apply new settings. When the first monitor screen came back, my application became unresponsive. My application was launched in debug mode, so I tried to navigate via stack and threads (Visual Studio 2008), paused application, started and did not find any thing that help me to understand why my application is not responsive. Could somebody help my how to detect the source of issue.

  I am making a project that should compile on Windows and Linux. I have made the project in Visual Studio and then made a makefile for linux. I created all the files in Windows with VS. It compiles and runs perfectly in VS but when I run the makefile and it runs g++ I get $ g++ -c -I include -o obj/Linux_x86/Server.obj src/Server.cpp cc1plus: error: include: Value too large for defined data type cc1plus: error: src/Server.cpp: Value too large for defined data type The code is nothing more than a Hello World atm. I just wanted to make sure that everything was working before I started development. I have tried searching but to no avail. Any help would be appreciated.

• Platform configuration for projects in VS 2010

  I have a third-party project type in Visual Studio which for some reason only supports the .NET Platform configuration for the build, for all other (standard C#) projects in the solution I only have AnyCPU. Unfortunately, ever since upgrading to VS 2010 it produces following error when built : Error 39 The OutputPath property is not set for project 'ReferencedBusinessProject.csproj'. Please check to make sure that you have specified a valid combination of Configuration and Platform for this project. Configuration='Debug' Platform='.NET'. This error may also appear if some other project is trying to follow a project-to-project reference to this project, this project has been unloaded or is not included in the solution, and the referencing project does not build using the same or an equivalent Configuration or Platform. C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v4.0.30319\Microsoft.Common.targets 483 10 CustomTypeProject It's pretty much descriptive in what is missing but I haven't found any way to fix it so far.   Hi, I want to set up source control for my project, but it seems like I need a server for this. I've never done this before, and I couldn't find anything helpfull yet. Is there any way to host a server locally so Visual studio can use it? Or do you know any online (free) servers I can use? By the way, if source control is not actually what i should use for keeping track of changes in my files, please suggest a better option. Thanks in advance.

  I'm working on a bundle of MSBuild script files and many many times I have the need of locating the definition of a called target or a property being used. At the moment, I have to search to the target/property 's name text and view the file containing that text - only then I can read the definition of the target/property I'm looking for. This remind me of the feature of class/variable navigation of Visual Studio: we can choose "Go to definition" or "Find references" when select a class name or a variable. Is there a similar way to work with MSBuild target/property/item? Hope to hear from all of you! Nam.

• Ways to call Blocks within Magento: createBlock vs Layout xml file

  Context: I'm trying to include Adminhtml blocks in the frontend of the site to replace some of the user account blocks. The first thing I'm trying to do is simply display the block on the correct page. I can replace the entire page by setting the Body of the response inside the controller, but I'm having a hard time including the block in the layout xml file and then calling it within the template. Why would I be able to create an adminhtml/sales_order_grid from Mage_Sales_OrderController using createBlock: $this->getResponse()->setBody($this->getLayout()->createBlock('adminhtml/sales_order_grid')->toHtml()); But not from a frontend layout, using a declaration <block type="adminhtml/sales_order_grid" name="orders_widget"/> within app/design/frontend/default/default/layout/sales.xml The latter produces an error without a stack trace: Fatal error: Call to a member function toHtml() on a non-object in app/code/core/Mage/Core/Model/Layout.php on line 526 Thanks for any guidance!

In PHP my query is: "confirmation=$confirmation" The problem is that $confirmation = 'AB-CD-EFG-012345'; Apparently the hyphens are causing problems with the query and the exception thrown is: Uncaught exception 'Zend_Gdata_App_HttpException' with message 'Expected response code 200, got 400 Parse error: Invalid token encountered' How can I quote or escape the value to not cause parse errors? Single quotes cause the same error, double quotes don't throw errors but there are no results to match.

The referenced method "humanize" isn't used for anything I'm doing at the moment, but belongs to the Model because it's used in several other places. Of course, removing the method is not really an option right now, and the model contains several other methods as well so I assume if I just move the humanize method around, it will generate an error on the next one. How can I configure Visual Studio and MSBuild to perform config transformations on these additional config files? • .NET Application using a native DLL (build management)

  I have a .NET app that is dependent on a native DLL. I have the .NET app set as AnyCPU. In the post-build step, I plan to copy the correct native DLL from some directory (x86 or AMD64) and place it in the target path. However, this doesn't work. On a 64-bit machine, the environment variable PROCESSOR_ARCHITECTURE is "x86" in Visual Studio. My alternative right now is to create a small tool that outputs the processor architecture. This will be used by the post-build step. Is there a better alternative? (Side Note: when deploying/packaging the app, the right native DLL is copied to the right platform. But this means we have two separate release folders for x86 and AMD64, which is OK since this is for a device driver. The app is a utility tool for the driver).

So i thought it would be a good idea to split at least the model from the view/controller(the asp.net project). Because it could be that i need to access some classes and the database from a windows app in future, i dicided to put the Model into its own Project. • ASP.NET 4 UpdatePanel and IIS7 Problem

  I have an ASP.NET 4 webpage that contains an update panel which just allows me to add a few items to a drop down list without reloading the entire page. The page works fine on the Visual Studio 2010 ASP.NET Development Server, performs the Async call and the page is properly laid out. However, when I deploy the page to IIS7, the Async call no longer works (the page is completely reloaded) and the layout of some items on the page is incorrect. I used Fiddler to look at what's happening and it looks like there are 404's when the page tries to access ScriptResource.axd, with everything else working correctly. I think that has to do with the Javascript required for the call but I'm not sure how to fix it. Any suggestions?

I've previously always added a web setup project to my solution, and used that to create an MSI, even for small applications. But when I build a web setup project in VS2010 it kind of works but some stuff still seems broken: 1. I need to turn on IIS 6 Compatibility on a Win 2008 R2 box to get the msi to run. 2. The msi includes web.config, web.debug.config, and web.release.config. I thought VS's web.config transformations was supposed to take care of that. -Matt

The question is: which libraries/frameworks do you use in your current ZF-based project? what are the best practices for ZF-based project architecture? I don't mean any components that are already a part of ZF. Please give a description of aditional frameworks you have integrated (like RuckUsing, Smarty, or Doctrine). It also applies to any GUI frameworks (perhaps you use a CSS framework), as well as JS frameworks (not just jQuery or prototype, but rather some advanced structures). The main requirement: it has to be a ZendFramework project. Additional bonus will be given to answers that describe performance optimization.
