• Equivalent of Windows 7 Winkey+Left / Winkey+Right for Window Tiling in OSX

  Windows 7 has a neat feature where the Windows Key in conjunction with the arrow keys tiles the active window. Windows key + left arrow moves it to the left half, windows key + right arrow moves your window to the right half of your monitor. Is there an equivalent to this functionality in OS X? Can anyone suggest some alternative metaphors by which to manage my windows? I find that OSX windows tend to be a bit more scatterbrained than their windows counterparts.

• When and why would Windows Explorer lock an external hard disk?

  I am quite surprised to see that Windows Explorer is locking my external hard disk. Is there any reason why explorer.exe is holding on to my external hard disk? Before I was trying to detach the external hard disk, I was opening a csproj file using Visual Studio 2008. I made sure that I closed down Visual Studio before trying to detach the external hard disk. There was no other active program except Google Chrome, from what I could see, that was running.

• gvim Cannot make changes, 'modifiable' is off issues with file explorer.

  In gvim using netrw(the file explorer), I usually middle click a file to open it in the last active window. This just leads to an error stating "Cannot make changes, 'modifiable' is off". Another middle click, and the file opens fine where I expect it to. All buffers are saved, there's no uncommuted changes anywhere. What causes this, and what can I do about it ? • IPvsadm not equally balancing on wlc scheduler

  For some reason, ipvsadm does not seem to be equally balancing the connections between my real servers when using the wlc or lc schedulers. One real server gets absolutely hammered with requests while the others receive relatively few connections. I found out about mod_httpbl for apache but I haven't find much to read about it other than on project honey pot's homepage. Doesn't seem like a very active project(?)   I have MSMQ installed on two Windows XP computers. Can I configure them to pass messages back and forth, or do I need an MSMQ server in the middle? If I need an MSMQ server, does the normal MSMQ with Win2003 able to act as that? And then, how do I connect my Windows XP to that Windows 2003 server?   When you press the v keyboard shortcut in Google Reader, it opens a new tab. Regardless of the setting "When a new tab or window is opened, make it active" setting (Under Preferences Tabs), it becomes the frontmost tab when opened. Is there a way to have all tabs open in the background, like when you Cmd+click? (I'm aware of other alternative solutions, such as Firefox which handles this correctly, or a desktop RSS such as NetNewsWire/Vienna which have an "open links in background" option, but I like Google Reader's interface and wish to continue using it)

  Hello, I setup a Turnkey Trac virtual machine and am trying to set up the LdapPlugin to use use authentication through a local Active Directory. I tried using easy_install http://trac-hacks.org/svn/ldapplugin/ to install it and it claimed to have completed, however when I go to the Admin page and go to plugins, it is not listed. I have never setup a Turnkey server like this before and was wondering in which directory the Trac plugins are located on the Turnkey-linux machine? Thanks, Tomek

• Screen is greyed out after power failure shutdown: Mac OSX

  When the battery power is down and the unit not plugged in the computer is forced into a sleep mode requiring pushing the start button when power is re-connected. The initial desktop screen appears to be greyed out and is unresponsive with a timer bar which, when the timing sequence is complete restores an active desktop. I can't find any reference to this phenomenon in the OSX literature I have. Any pointers to where I can get more information? Perhaps I am using the wrong search criteria?

My problem is that I've installed the printer on the windows server and shared it, the permissions are right, but when i try to connect to that printer from the windows xp client, it throws the following errer: "You do not have sufficient access to your computer to connect to the selected printer". Again, the permissions are right. I think I'm missing something that I couldn't find on the web. :( please help!

  I have found that my server's filesystem is continuously entering read-only mode. There have been some issues with the raid1 array, but I have removed the bad disk from the array. However, it is still physically plugged into the system because I haven't had a chance to go over to the datacentre, I suspect udev and the system kernel is still picking up the bad disk and throwing errors. Note, ata1 is the bad disk (I think ata1 corresponds to /dev/sda because they are both first in line). Under mdadm, /dev/sda1,2 is no longer being used, but I can't prevent the system kernel from continuing to query that disk when I am no longer using it and throwing these errors. Is there a way to prevent my filesystem from automatically going into read-only mode? Furthermore, is it safe to do so? Thanks in advance. • Login to a Windows 7 Computer with disabled Administrator account.

  I just built a Windows 7 Image using sysprep and a custom answer file that's supposed to attach to our domain. However, it did not attach to the domain and so I have a computer that has been automatically setup via unattend.xml and is sitting at a login screen; with no active users (Administrator account says it is disabled). Is there a way I can activate the Administrator account and rescue this machine or do I have to rebuild it from scratch?

Some things i have tried so far: I think that i have some performance issues with one of the applications, Here you can see a threadDump But i'm not quite sure about it. I also started to monitor the network connection. I have noticed that there are some pings lost when i have a "ping -f " so maybe it could be a network issue, but the success rate is 100% (so the lost packets are only a few among the flood, but maybe, i don't know, enough to break the link betwen apache and tomcat). I wrote a python script to check connectivity with timestamps on the pings, so i can know when the network fails. After sniffing the network , i can also see some RST packets, but i don't know if that is a normal behaviour (some applications do that to end a network communication). I have also noticed that the applications have problems communicating with the database, but im not even sure if this could be related or not. If you think so, i can post more info about it. I changed the connector on the tomcats to use the native one, but still the same. I need not even a solution to this, but maybe some guidance on how can i troubleshoot this better ¿Analyze threads, monitor mysql performance, sniff the traffic between apaches and tomcats? Ultimately, all i need is to balance the tomcat instances in Active/pasive mode, so if there is another way to do it, i could give it a try.

I need to enable Outlook Office access on the user's PC but Microsoft Outlook Office does not show in the Add Programs\Set Program Access\Custom section. There are tools that allow you to hide the icon for Set program access but I need to add content, specifically Outlook Office. Outlook Express is enabled but I don't need it.
