  • Creating a content management system for dedicated use

    I've been trying to create a specialised CMS, as none of the current open-source ones fit my needs for this project. I did my research on Google, tried multiple times but haven't got very far with this project. I'm trying to create a CMS for a TV/episode guide which is similar to this: (for some that don't have the :// just copy-and-paste and add it after http in the URL) http library.digiguide.com/lib/programmenextshowing/Police%2C+Camera%2C+Action!-12578 (one such example) - where records expire and delete from the database after expiration. This is the design I'm trying to emulate: http library.digiguide.com/lib/programme/24-84241/Drama/ - the programme http://library.digiguide.com/lib/episode/Under+Surveillance-714873 - a typical episode, could use .htaccess to remove php from name http library.digiguide.com/lib/programmenextshowing/24-84241 - paginated episode display (using script that I found in search here possibly) I don't have access to cron job as it's on Windows/Apache, so that's out the question for this one. I'm not sure how to go about this successfully, anyone got any advice? (Note:Although the linked site runs in ASP.NET, it's the design and feel of it I'm trying to emulate, except in PHP. I've managed to emulate that site's design, but with my own tweaks to it.)

    I have a planning structure on two tables to store available slots by day, and sessions. A slot is defined by a range of time in the day.   • Why is free() not allowed in garbage-collected languages?

    I was reading the C# entry on Wikipedia, and came across: Managed memory cannot be explicitly freed; instead, it is automatically garbage collected. Why is it that in languages with automatic memory management, manual management isn't even allowed? I can see that in most cases it wouldn't be necessary, but wouldn't it come in handy where you are tight on memory and don't want to rely on the GC being smart?

  • How can I view locking on a file on a file?

    Hi all, We have a database file (foxpro) on a Windows share (2003 server), we're having some problems where the program that writes to this file has to retry as the file is locked, this all happens very quickly and within a few seconds the file is available but the problem is it shouldn't be locked. Does anyone know how we can view what's locking it? Any tools available? Thanks James

  • Session management with OpenID, in ASP.NET

    I am currently playing with DotNetOpenAuth to make an ASP.NET (C#) website use OpenID instead of the normal login-password routine for user and session handling. Up till now, I have added the DotNetOpenAuth.dll into my project and tried a test login page with the following: <rp:OpenIdLogin ID="OpenIdLogin1" runat="server" /> When I run the page, I enter a valid myopenid url and the website redirects to the myopenid page, where I enter my password, and upon success, it returns back to my default.aspx, due to the following in my web.config: <authentication mode="Forms"> <forms defaultUrl="/Default.aspx" loginUrl="~/Login.aspx"/> </authentication> Now that the user is "logged in", how can handle my session? At the moment, I don't know how I can, for example, check if the session is still alive or how to terminate the session. My basic question is, how can I manage the session once the user is authenticated with OpenID ?

  • Java Memory Management

    I am designing a client-server chat application in Java. This is a secure application where the messages are exchanged using cryptographic algorithms. I have one server and it can support many clients. My problem is that when one client logs on the server it works fine, but when another user logs into the system, the server starts giving me bad padding exceptions for the encrypted text. I am not able to figure out the problem, according to my logic, when new connection request to server is made, the server creates a thread for listening to the client. Is it possible that once the instance of thread class is created, it does all the processing correctly for the first client, but not for the second client because the variables in server listener thread class already have some previous value, and thus the encrypted text is not decrypted properly? Please advise how I can make this process more robust so that the number of clients does not affect how well the server functions.

  • Firefox appending .xls extension to .xlsx files

    We are serving files with the .xlsx (excel 2007/2010) extension. IE, Chrome, Safari all download the file and open excel just fine. Firefox is being stupid. For some reason it's appending .xls to the extension. I found this: https://support.mozilla.com/bs/questions/758363 However, the instructions weren't very specific and completely unclear to me. How can I tell Firefox not to screw with the file extension? Thanks,

  • HttpSendRequest not getting latest file from server

    I am having an issue with my HTTP requests in my app, such that if the remote file is the same size as the local file (even though its modified time is different, as its contents have been changed), attempts to download it return quickly and the newer file is not downloaded. In short, the process I am following is: Setting up an HTTP connection with the INTERNET_FLAG_RESYNCHRONIZE flag and calling HttpSendRequest(); then checking the HTTP status code and finding it to be "200". If the remote file is updated, but remains the same size as the local copy: The local file is unchanged after running the app. If I call HttpQueryInfo() with HTTP_QUERY_LAST_MODIFIED after sending the request, it gives me the actual last modified time of the server's file, which I can see is different from the local file I am trying to have it overwrite. If the remote file is updated, and the file size becomes different from the local copy: It is downloaded and overwrites the local copy as expected.     Is there a web-based tool available, where I am able to... ...define data models (like in a database admin tool) ...fill in data (in custom web forms, not too generic) with basic features like completion ...import data from CSV oder Excel Sheets ...export data to CSV or SQL ...create snapshots of my data models (versions, diff, etc.) ...share my data models ...discuss/collaborate with other people about my data models Well, I can develop something like this in PHP or with Ruby or whatever. But this is such a common task, where the application support could be a lot better. And it would be language and database independent. This would help to maintain data models in different versions and you can maybe share your data models with others, extend it with your team members, etc. There is a website called FreeBase, which allows you to define a data entity model and fill in data, which also has export features, but I need to define my own data model with my own granularity and structure. And it should not be shared in public if I don't want to. How do you solve problems like this yourself?

  • partial entity loading and management in silverlight / wcf ria

    I have a Silverlight 4 app which pulls entities down from a database using WCF RIA services. These data objects are fairly simple, just a few fields but one of those fields contains binary data of an arbitrarily size. The application needs access to this data basically asap after a user has logged in, to display in a list, enable selection etc. My problem is because of the size of this data, the load times are not acceptable and can approach the default timeout of the RIA service. I'd like to somehow partially load the objects into my local data context so that I have the IDs, names etc but not the binary data. I could then at a later point (ie when it's actually needed) populate the binary fields of those objects I need to display. Any suggestions on how to accomplish this would be welcome. Another approach which has occurred to me whilst writing this question (how often does that happen?!) is that I could move the binary data into a seperate database table joined to the original record 1:1 which would allow me to make use of RIA's lazy loading on that binary data. again.. comments welcome! Previously on Windows I was using a small TrueCrypt file containing text files with usernames and passwords. I need to write an Applescript that takes those text files and imports them as Secure notes into Mac's Keychain Access app. I know that there are some Applescript commands related to Keychain, but I haven't found a way to add Secure notes.

  • PDF permissions management with ASP.NET - Timeout Issue

    I have a website that has several PDF files. I need to have quite a few of them locked down with the standard ASP.NET authentication (in a folder with web.config that denies anonymous users). I set PDF files to get handled by the ASP.NET worker process and added: <add type="System.Web.StaticFileHandler" path="*.pdf" verb="*" /> to my web.config, but for some reason they hang when downloading. I've seen this issue before on an old server, and for the live of me I can't remember what I did to solve it. Does anyone have any idea? Thanks.

  • Why Can't SSMS Access The Documents Folder in Windows 7?

    I have a database backup located in my Windows 7 Documents folder (c:\Users\Aaron\Documents...), and I'm trying to restore it using SQL Server Management Studio. However, the program is unable to access anything within the Users\Aaron directory using its non-standard file selection dialog, even when run as an Administrator. I'm brand new to Windows 7... Is there some sort of security setting that I need to trigger to give programs access to these files?

  • iphone app to read text files.

    Hi, Need to edit some of the local text files on my iphone but so far all the apps I have downloaded do not navigate the OS3 file tree for me to load and edit them. I need to do this on my iphone as I can no longer access via ssh or with the iphone cable. One of the files to edit is a ssh config file which is what is not allowing ssh connections.   • Delphi: Alternative to using Reset/ReadLn for text file reading

    i want to process a text file line by line. In the olden days i loaded the file into a StringList: slFile := TStringList.Create(); slFile.LoadFromFile(filename); for i := 0 to slFile.Count-1 do begin oneLine := slFile.Strings[i]; //process the line end; Problem with that is once the file gets to be a few hundred megabytes, i have to allocate a huge chunk of memory; when really i only need enough memory to hold one line at a time. (Plus, you can't really indicate progress when you the system is locked up loading the file in step 1). The i tried using the native, and recommended, file I/O routines provided by Delphi: var f: TextFile; begin Reset(f, filename); while ReadLn(f, oneLine) do begin //process the line end; Problem withAssign is that there is no option to read the file without locking (i.e. fmShareDenyNone). The former stringlist example doesn't support no-lock either, unless you change it to LoadFromStream: slFile := TStringList.Create; stream := TFileStream.Create(filename, fmOpenRead or fmShareDenyNone); slFile.LoadFromStream(stream); stream.Free; for i := 0 to slFile.Count-1 do begin oneLine := slFile.Strings[i]; //process the line end; So now even though i've gained no locks being held, i'm back to loading the entire file into memory. Is there some alternative to Assign/ReadLn, where i can read a file line-by-line, without taking a sharing lock? i'd rather not get directly into Win32 CreateFile/ReadFile, and having to deal with allocating buffers and detecting CR, LF, CRLF's. i thought about memory mapped files, but there's the difficulty if the entire file doesn't fit (map) into virtual memory, and having to maps views (pieces) of the file at a time. Starts to get ugly. i just want Reset with fmShareDenyNone!
