pass objective c object and primitive type into a void *

I want to pass 2 variables: UIImage * img int i into another method that only takes a (void *) I tried making a C struct containing both img and i struct MyStruct { UIImage *img; int i; } but xcode gives me an error saying "ARC forbids Objective-C objects in structs or unions" The next thing I tried is to write an objective-c class MyStruct2 containing img and i, alloc-initing an instance of it and typecasting it as (__bridge void*) before passing it to the method. Seems little involved for my use case. Seems like there should be a better way. What's the simplest way to achieve this? Thank you. Edit based on comments: I have to use void * as it is required by the UIView API. I created a selector as mentioned by UIVIew API + (void)setAnimationDidStopSelector:(SEL)selector Please see documentation for setAnimationDidStopSelector at http://developer.apple.com/library/ios/#documentation/uikit/reference/UIView_Class/UIView/UIView.html . It says ... Linq to object - Select Distinct

Hi, I can't quite figure out why this Linq Statement isn't working as i would expect: Dim distinctSurchargesList = (From thisparent As Parent In ThisParentCollection _ From thisChild As Child In thisparent.theseChildren _ Select New With {.childId = thischild.Id}).Distinct() I would assume that this would create a new collection of anonymous types, that would be distinct. Instead it creates a collection the size of the "ThisParentCollection" with duplicate "MyAnonymousType" in it (duplicate id's). Can anyone tell me where im going wrong? Thanks

linq to sql dynamic data modify object before insert and update

I'm using Dynamic Data and LINQ to SQL for some admin pages on a .NET 3.5 web app. All my admin tables a CreatedBy, CreatedDate, UpdatedBy, and UpdatedDate. I'm looking for a way to inject the setting of these properties before the objects are inserted and updated. I've seen an object_inserting hook if you have a linq to sql datasource in the web form, but I'm using dynamic data...is there an easy way to generically set that? And I've also looked at modifying each of the partial classes for my admin objects, but the closest hook I see is to implement the OnValidate method with the Insert action. Any suggestions? TIA.

I've got a JPanel class called Board with a static subclass, MouseHanlder, which tracks the mouse position along the appropriate listener in Board. My Board class has fields pointerX and pointerY. How do i pass the e.getX() and e.getY() from the MouseHandler subclass to its super class JPanel? I tried with getters, setters, super, and cant get the data transfer between subclass and parent class. I'm certain it's a concept issue, but im stuck. Thanks!

I don't understand Access Modifiers in OOP. Why do we make for example in Java instance variables private and then use public getter and setter methods to access them? I mean what's the reasoning/logic behind this? You still get to the instance variable but why use setter and getter methods when you can just make your variables public? please excuse my ignorance as I am simply trying to understand why? Hi! I am trying to return the absolute position of an element in a SVG. I have tried using basic javascript functions to return the relative position but I only have access to the contentDocument since the SVG is embeded using an OBJECT tag. Because of this I cannot recurse thru the elements to find the position of the element position... Is there any native SVG functions to get the position of an element relative to the SVG element (X=0, Y=0)? Thank you, Morten!

How can I Convert XML to an Object using Spring 3.0 mvc while making RESTful request

Hi, I'm using the Spring 3.0 RC1 framework and I'm currently testing out Spring mvc. I wanted to use Spring mvc to handle restful requests. I have set up my controller to handle the URI request. I am passing in xml with the request. So on the controller I have a method like follows: public void request(RequestObject request) { doSomething(); } I am having a hard time converting the xml to the RequestObject. I haven't seen much documentation on this and I was wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction. I'm guess that you would have to annotate the RequestObject using JAXB or something in order to tell Spring to convert the xml file to RequestObject but I'm not sure. Thanks for all of your help!!

Objecive C Error, Message sent to deallocated object

Hello, I have several buttons on my app that are being created dynamically. They are all pointed at the button click event when pressed. When the button pressed method is called, the sender's tag(int value) is parsed into the controllers house ID. It works with one of the buttons... the first one created to be specific, but the others throw the following error: -[CFNumber intValue]: message sent to deallocated instance 0xc4bb0ff0 I am not releasing these buttons anywhere in my code... I haven't set them to auto release or anything like that... just wondering why they are doing this on the click. How to create custom get and set methods for Linq2SQL object

I have some objects which have been created automatically by linq2SQL. I would like to write some code which should be run whenever the properties on these objects are read or changed. Can I use typical get { //code } and set {//code } in my partial class file to add this functionality? Currently I get an error about this member already being defined. This all makes sense. Is it correct that I will have to create a method to function as the entry point for this functionality, as I cannot redefine the get and set methods for this property. I was hoping to just update the get and set, as this would mean I wouldn't have to change all the reference points in my app. But I think I may just have to update it everywhere.

Is it possible to capture mouse events which occur on an HTML element's scroll bar? The reason I want to do this is to make a visual popup element disappear when ever a click event occurs anywhere outside the popup element.

But I can't even get the Day part to display independent of anything else so I'm a long way from the rest of the functionality. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

How would I get returningResponse (into say, a NSString) from the following code: NSURLResponse* response; NSError* error; NSData* result = [NSURLConnection sendSynchronousRequest:theRequest returningResponse:&response error:&error]; I think I can get the info that I need into a string but I can't call anything on response because it's null. Therefore, I assume that I need to call something on result. The problem is, I don't know what to call. (The URL request has been coded prior to the code sample. I know that that works.) I want to be able to detect if the request as successful.
