• Databinding in WinForms performing async data import

  I have a scenario where I have a collection of objects bound to a datagrid in winforms. If a user drags and drops an item on to the grid, I need to add a placeholder row into the grid and kick off a lengthy async import process. I need to communicate the status of the async import process back to the UI, updating the row in the grid and have the UI remain responsive to allow the user to edit the other rows. What's the best practice for doing this? My current solution is: binding a thread safe implementation of BindingList to the grid, filled with the objects that are displayed as rows in the grid. When a user drags and drops an item on to the grid, I create a new object containing the sparse info obtained from the dropped item and add that to the BindingList, disabling the editing of that row. I then fire off a separate thread to do the import, passing it the newly bound object I have just created to fill with data. The import process, periodically sets the status of the object and fires an event which is subscribed to by the UI telling it to refresh the grid to see the new properties on the object. Should I be passing the same object that is bound to the grid to the import process thread to operate on, or should I be creating a copy and merging back the changes to the object on the UI thread using BeginInvoke? Any problems or advice with this implementation? Thanks

  Hello! I want to have a border around ListViewItem (row in my case). ListView source and columns generated during Runtime. • Trouble pre-populating drop down and textarea from MySQL Database

  I am able to successfully pre-populate my questions using the following code: First Name: <input type="text" name="first_name" size="30" maxlength="20" value="' . $row[2] . '" /><br /> However, when I try to do the same for a drop down box and a textarea box, nothing is pre-populated from the database, even though there is actual content in the database. • Gridview empty when SelectedIndexChanged called

  I have a DataGrid which is being bound dynamically to a database query. The user enters some search text into a text field, clicks search, and the code behind creates the appropriate database query using LINQ (searches a table based on the string and returns a limited set of the columns). It then sets the GridView datasource to be the query and calls DataBind(). protected void btnSearch_Click(object sender, EventArgs e) { var query = from record in DB.Table where record.Name.Contains(txtSearch.Text) //Extra string checking etc. removed. select new { record.ID, record.Name, record.Date }; gvResults.DataSource = query; gvResults.DataBind(); } This works fine. When a user selects a row in the grid, the SelectedIndexChanged event handler gets the id from the row in the grid (one of the fields), queries the full record from the DB and then populates a set of editor / details fields with the records full details. protected void gvResults_SelectedIndexChanged(object sender, EventArgs e) { int id = int.Parse(gvResults.SelectedRow.Cells[1].Text); DisplayDetails(id); } This works fine on my local machine where I'm developing the code. On the production server however, the function is called successfully, but the row and column count on gvResults, the GridVeiw is 0 - the table is empty. The GridView's viewstate is enabled and I can't see obvious differences. Have I made some naive assumptions, or am I relying on something that is likely to be configured differently in debug? Locally I am running an empty asp.net web project in VS2008 to make development quicker. The production server is running the sitecore CMS so is configured rather differently. Any thoughts or suggestions would be most welcome. Thanks in advance!

In that form I have two fields (each in it's own cell): one to select who paid (single selection), and another to select people expense is paid for (multiple selection). Both fields open a new TableViewController included in an UINavigationController. • Input boxes with transparent background are not clickable in IE8

  I have an absolutely positioned input box in a form. The input box has transparent background: .form-page input[type="text"] { border: none; background-color: transparent; /* Other stuff: font-weight, font-size */ } Surprisingly, I cannot select this input box by clicking on it in IE8. It works perfectly in Firefox however. The same happens for background: none. When I change the background color: background-color: red; It works fine, so this is issue associated with transparent background. Setting a border makes the input box selectable by clicking on its border only. Is there a workaround to have clickable input box with transparent background working in IE8? Update: Example. Uncomment background-color and the inputbox is selectable. • jQuery hover DIV- stay active if they hover over the DIV itself

  I have a DIV that opens up when an image is hovered. When the user leaves the image, the div disappears after a timeout. How can I make it so that the DIV will stay active if the user was to hover over the DIV itself? So the DIV will stay active as long as the user is on the image or the DIV itself? • position content relative to a fluid width element set to position:fixed

  I have a layout with the following requirements An image on the left side, and content on the right side. The image is pinned to the bottom left of the viewport The image does not move when the user scrolls The image resizes to 100% height of the viewport, up to it's max height. (I don't want the image to distort in it's attempts to be larger than it actually is) The image retains it's aspect ratio, and resizes it's width according to the height resizing. The content begins to the right of the image, and moves as the image resizes with the browser viewport. Now, I've managed to achieve pretty much all but the last of these requirements. Have a look here: http://letteringmusic.com/ The image resizes quite nicely, but I can't get the content to float next to the image because image is position:fixed, and therefore out of the document flow. I'm not opposed to a javascript solution if that's the only way to get the result I want. Anybody know what I need to do to make this work? Thank you!!

• Detecting duplicate values in a column of a Datatable while traversing through It

  I have a Datatable with Id(guid) and Name(string) columns. I traverse through the data table and run a validation criteria on the Name (say, It should contain only letters and numbers) and then adding the corresponding Id to a List If name passes the validation. Something like below:- List<Guid> validIds=new List<Guid>(); foreach(DataRow row in DataTable1.Rows) { if(IsValid(row["Name"]) { validIds.Add((Guid)row["Id"]); } } In addition to this validation I should also check If the name is not repeating in the whole datatable (even for the case-sensitiveness), If It is repeating, I should not add the corresponding Id in the List. Things I am thinking/have thought about:- 1) I can have another List, check for the "Name" in the same, If It exists, will add the corresponding Guild 2) I cannot use HashSet as that would treat "Test" and "test" as different strings and not duplicates. 3) Take the DataTable to another one where I have the disctict names (this I havent tried and the code might be incorrect, please correct me whereever possible) DataTable dataTableWithDistinctName = new DataTable(); dataTableWithDistinctName.CaseSensitive=true CopiedDataTable=DataTable1.DefaultView.ToTable(true,"Name"); I would loop through the original datatable and check the existence of the "Name" in the CopiedDataTable, If It exists, I wont add the Id to the List. Are there any better and optimum way to achieve the same? I need to always think of performance. Although there are many related questions in SO, I didnt find a problem similar to this. If you could point me to a question similar to this, It would be helpful. Thanks

• opacity and zIndex not getting set when hovered

• Resizing image algorithm in python

  So, I'm learning my self python by this tutorial and I'm stuck with exercise number 13 which says: Write a function to uniformly shrink or enlarge an image. Your function should take an image along with a scaling factor. To shrink the image the scale factor should be between 0 and 1 to enlarge the image the scaling factor should be greater than 1. This is not meant as a question about PIL, but to ask which algorithm to use so I can code it myself. I've found some similar questions like this, but I dunno how to translate this into python. Any help would be appreciated.   I've set up django-filebrowser in my app without any bugs, I already had django-tinymce set up and it loads the editor in the admin forms.   I'm trying to add a small shadow to an image, much like the icon shadows in the App Store. Right now I'm using the following code to round the corners of my images.   Hey This is my login script, using PHP5 and MYSQLi, I just had help spotting errors in my query, but still it will not let me login, even though the username and password are correct and in the database, it just keeps returning the error: your username and password do not match any in our db. • Cascading Deletes in SQL Sever 2008 not working.

  I have the following table setup. Bag | +-> BagID (Guid) +-> BagNumber (Int) BagCommentRelation | +-> BagID (Int) +-> CommentID (Guid) BagComment | +-> CommentID (Guid) +-> Text (varchar(200)) BagCommentRelation has Foreign Keys to Bag and BagComment. So, I turned on cascading deletes for both those Foreign Keys, but when I delete a bag, it does not delete the Comment row. Do need to break out a trigger for this? Or am I missing something? (I am using SQL Server 2008) Note: Posting requested SQL. This is the defintion of the BagCommentRelation table. (I had the type of the bagID wrong (I thought it was a guid but it is an int).)   Hey guys, quick question, I have a query that will usually return multiple results from a database, while I know how to return one result, I am not sure how to return multiple in jquery. I just want to take each of the returned results and run them through my prepare function. I have been trying to use 'for' to handle the array of data but I don't think it can work since I am returning different array values. If anyone has any suggestions, I would really appreciate it.   I am trying to get my data to display properly within a GridLayout, which is to be used as a DataTemplate for an Item within ListBox. Any reason why it does this? As I said, only when TextWrapping is set to Wrap it does this. When its not used, it scrolls fine, but the text is all along one line and off the screen.

• iPhone UIView Animation Disables UIButton Subview

  So I've got a problem with buttons and animations. Basically, I'm animating a view using the UIView animations while also trying to listen for taps on the button inside the view. The view is just as large as the button, and the view is actually a subclass of UIImageView with an image below the button. The view is a subview of a container view placed in Interface Builder with user interaction enabled and clipping enabled. All the animation and button handling is done in this UIImageView subclass, while the startFloating message is sent from a separate class as needed. If I do no animation, the buttonTapped: message gets sent correctly, but during the animation it does not get sent. I've also tried implementing the touchesEnded method, and the same behavior occurs.
