  Hello, I have a form that I need to post and show the result in a div. I'm not having any problems making the ajax call but I can't seem to figure out how to load the result to a div. I have tried: $.ajax({ type: 'POST', data: $('#someForm').serialize(), url: 'http://somedomain.com/my/url', success: function(data) { $('#someDiv').load(data); } }); but it does not seem to work properly. I'm nit sure if this should even work but the result is the the page i'm posting from being loaded into the div and not the url I'm posting to. Any help would be great! Thanks!

  My application checks a number of domains to see if they are valid (approx 100). This works fine. The only problem I have is when I put this in a loop I want it to run in parallel. So I don't have to wait for domain 1 to respond before I can request domain 2. I have managed this in PHP using curl_multi to run the requests in parallel. Is there a similar thing I can do in Rails?

• Cascading MVC controllers with CatchAll Routes

  Hi, I have an MVC app which has its routes defined with the final route being a catch all route to a "PageController" for a database driven collection of pages. What I want to achieve is to be able to plugin to the app a second controller to the catch all route which the first controller passes on to if it does not find the url recieved in the database. Effectively I want to queue up controllers with catch all actions: public ActionResult PageCatchall(string url) { var page = repository.Get<Page>(string url); if (page != null) { // Handle the request return View(page) } // Otherwise pass to a new controller ???? } Anyone have any good ideas as to how to solve this? I have tried RedirectToAction but that requires that the next controller has a different route to the action. I have tried ActionInvoker but this failed to work the way I did it.

I have an Audio model which has a mp3 field as follows: class Audio < ActiveRecord::Base has_attached_file :mp3, :storage => :s3, :s3_credentials => S3_CREDENTIALS, :bucket => S3_CREDENTIALS[:bucket], :path => ":rails_root/public/system/:attachment/:id/:style/:filename", :url => "/system/:attachment/:id/:style/:filename" I am calling audio.mp3.url from a controller, and it returns http://s3.amazonaws.com/MyApp/audios/mp3s//original/96a9ae89302fdf8462ee05eb829f2e17578b144e20120908-2-11f61zr.mp3?1347135050 instead of http://s3.amazonaws.com/MyApp/audios/mp3s/000/000/004/original/96a9ae89302fdf8462ee05eb829f2e17578b144e20120908-2-11f61zr.mp3?1347135050 (which works) Why is it missing the '000/000/004' part of the route? The same model is generating the right URL when used in a view. Any help? I am using paperclip 3.2.0 and Rails 3.1.8. Any help?

  Using a modal plugin for jquery, I'm opening an iframe in a modal with a click event and setting the source attribute to a relative url (should be within https). The page containing the click is an authenticated ssl page. In IE and Safari, this works as expected. In Chrome and Firefox, the source url is opened in http not https. If I set the source to an absolute url using https, same result. • Backbone.js: How to utilize router.navigate to manipulate browser history?

  I am writing something like a registration process containing several steps, and I want to make it a single-page like system so after some studying Backbone.js is my choice. Every time the user completes the current step they will click on a NEXT button I create and I use the router.navigate method to update the url, as well as loading the content of the next page and doing some fancy transition with javascript. Result is, URL is updated which the page is not refreshed, giving a smooth user experience. However, when the user clicks on the back button of the browser, the URL gets updated to that of a previous step, but the content stays the same. My question is through what way I can capture such an event and currently load the content of the previous step and present that to the user? Or even better, can I rely on browser cache to load that previously loaded page? EDIT: in particular, I'm trying something like mentioned in this article.

• Downloading image from server without file extension (NSData to UIImage)

  From my server I'm pulling down a url that is supposed to simply be a profile image. The relevant code for pulling down the image from the urls is this: NSString *urlString = [NSString stringWithFormat:@"%@%@",kBaseURL,profile_image_url]; profilePic = [UIImage imageWithData:[NSData dataWithContentsOfURL:[NSURL URLWithString:urlString]]]; My url is in the format (note no file extension on the end since its dynamically rendered) localhost:8000/people/1/profile_image If I load the url in my browser the image displays; however the code above for pulling down the UIImage does not work. I've verified that the code does pull an image from a random site on the interwebs. Any thoughts on why this is happening?

  I have two divs on the page: main div and secondary, which loads a separate html page using ajax. All the links within the main div trigerred by a click event continue to work correctly and reference the appropriate content, but none of the jquery outside this div works (such as the navigation). I think I am supposed to trigger a callback event but I am not sure how to do so. • Have all internal links in drupal leave out subdirectory where docroot resides

  I've successfully followed some instructions online to get our plain url to direct to the content found in a subfolder (drupaldev) so that when you enter any url for that site even without the subdirectory name, it serves the correct page. However, I cannot figure out how to remove the internal links on the site that reference the '/drupaldev/' subdirectory.   I currently have jQuery code that looks like this: if ($.url.param("s") == "error") { $.gritter.add({ title: 'Error!', text: $.url.param('message') }); } I'm checking to see if the request variable s exists in the url (ie. http://example.com/?s=error&message=this%20is%20my%20message and then showing a popup message that contains information from request variable message. The popup works just fine, but the message variable isn't populated, the plugin asks for a string as a value for the text option. What is the proper way to grab the message variable?

  When using $.POST and $.GET in jquery is there any way to add custom vars to the URL and send them too? i tried the following : $.ajax({type:"POST", url:"file.php?CustomVar=data", data:$("#form").serialize()}); And : <input name="CustomVar" type="hidden" value="data" /> $.ajax({type:"POST", url:"file.php", data:$("#form").serialize()}); The first ones problem is that it send the custom as get but i want to receive it as post. The second one well i'm using it right now but there is not any better way?

• mod_rewrite replace all instances of ampersand with %26 for later

  Hey there! I want to simply not use ampersand in my URL so I can pass ampersands further down into my system when a file is requested. The problem is Apache deals with it differently.
