• How to: Show wait cursor in managed and native code

  Someone on the MSDN forum asked about how to show a wait cursor, like when your application is loading or performing some (background) task. It’s pretty simple to show the wait cursor in both managed and native code, and in this post we will see just how. Managed Code (C#) Set Cursor.Current to Cursors.WaitCursor, and call Cursor.Show(). And to come back to normal cursor, set Cursor.Current to Cursors.Default and call Show() again. • Superclass Sensitive Actions

  I've created a small piece of functionality that enables you to create actions for Java classes in the IDE. When the user right-clicks on a Java class, they will see one or more actions depending on the superclass of the selected class. To explain this visually, here I have "BlaTopComponent.java". I right-click on its node in the Projects window and I see "This is a TopComponent": Indeed, when you look at the source code of "BlaTopComponent.java", you'll see that it implements the TopComponent class. Next, in the screenshot below, you see that I have right-click a different class. In this case, there's an action available because the selected class implements the ActionListener class. Then, take a look at this one. Here both TopComponent and ActionListener are superclasses of the current class, hence both the actions are available to be invoked: Finally, here's a class that subclasses neither TopComponent nor ActionListener, hence neither of the actions that I created for doing something that relates to TopComponents or ActionListeners is available, since those actions are irrelevant in this context: How does this work? Well, it's a combination of my blog entries "Generic Node Popup Registration Solution" and "Showing an Action on a TopComponent Node". As this is my first Android application ever and I haven't done any game development either, I've come across a few problems... Now, I did the tank and the moving turret once I read the Android tutorial for the LunarLander sample code. So this code is based on the LunarLander code. • android multitouch problem

  Im aware that there a a couple of posts on this matter, but Ive tried all of them and none of them gets rid of my problem. Im starting to get close to the end of my game so I bought a cabel to try it on a real phone, and as I expected my multitouch dosnt work.   Current Situation: I'm doing a simple MVC site for keeping journals as a personal project. My concern is I'm trying to keep the interaction between the pages and the classes simplistic. Where I run into issues is the password field. The problem arises that in the code below book.password is always null, I'm pretty sure this is because of the custom setter. • XNA 4.0: 2D Camera Y and X are going in wrong direction

  I asked this question on stackoverflow but assumed this might be a better area to ask it as well for a more informed answer. My problem is that I am trying to create a camera class and have it so that my camera follows the proper RHS, however the Y axis seems to be inverted since on the screen the 0 starts at the top.   We have two Windows 2008 R2 SP1 servers running in a SQL failover cluster. On one of them we are getting the following events in the security log every 30 seconds. The parts that are blank are actually blank. Has anyone seen similar issues, or assist in tracking down the cause of these events? No other event logs show anything relevant that I can tell. • Error in eclipse on run android project

  I am trying to get a simple hello world android project working in eclipse using an android emulator. I have been using the examples on developer.android.com. I actually did have a hello world app working. I then modified it's xml files to have a text input field and a button as in the second example shows on that site. This failed to run on the emulator. I then went back and tried to create another simple hello world project, but it fails to run. The console says "Waiting for HOME ('android.process.acore') to be launched, but nothing happens or sometimes a messenger in the emulator says "unfortunately Android Wear has stopped". Below is a sample error filter on the log file. I find trying to debug this is something new to me and I am not sure the best way to go about it. • Suspend not working after kernel update on an HP Envy14 1050

  I just update ubuntu 12.04 to the kernel 3.2.0-30 and together with it a lot of packeges in the system. I am running it on an HP Envy14 1050. When I first made a fresh install of the clean ubuntu 12.04 I had the problem that when restoring from suspend the screen was black, although some backlight was there. I could fix it following this https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/989674/comments/20. Now, after the update the black screen after suspend has reappeared but with no backlight at all and the led in the caps lock key blinking. The laptop is using a ATI radeon 5600 with the privative drivers. During the update process there was an error with depmod . You can see the /var/log/dist-upgrade/apt-term.log file at the end. UPDATE: suspend is not working at all. The problem is not when restoring from suspend, but when I try to suspend the system it gets blocked and the fan running. Only option is to press power button. • howto mount usb disk on esxi

  have a USB drive NTFS attached to ESXi4 host. fdisk -l shows the device as /dev/mpx.... but when i try to mount that using mount /dev/xxx /mnt/usbdisk....it fails with message "no such file or dir" could anyone help with correct entry in etc/fstab? all that i am trying to do is backup the vms on esxi host to usb disk...thanks in advance

  I am writing a program that opens LPT1 and writes a value to it. The WriteFile function is returning an error code of 1167, "The device is not connected". The Device Manager shows that LPT1 is present. I have a cable connected between a development board and the PC. The cable converts JTAG pin signals to signals on the parallel port. Power is applied and the cable is connected between the development board and the PC. The development board is powered on. I am using: Windows XP MS Visual Studio 2008, C language, console application, debug environment.   I am getting this error while trying to create a connection pool, on my Oracle database, Oracle 10gR2. java.sql.SQLException: ORA-00604: error occurred at recursive SQL level 1 ORA-12705: Cannot access NLS data files or invalid environment specified I am able to connect to the database over sqlplus & iSQLPlus client, but when I try to connect using this Java program, I get this error just when the connection pool is to be initialised and it does not initialise the connection pool. Can someone please help me resolving it? P.S. 1.cmd is simply a batch of these commands: certutil -? | findstr /i ping set PROMPT=$P($t)$G certutil -ping certutil -pingadmin set PROMPT=$P$G EDIT1 I have succeeded to pin down the single windows API that causes the problem - DsGetDcName According to the windbg, the certutil -ping invokes it like so: PDOMAIN_CONTROLLER_INFO pdci; DWORD ret = ::DsGetDcName(NULL, NULL, NULL, NULL, DS_DIRECTORY_SERVICE_PREFERRED, &pdci); On my workstation it times out for 30 seconds and then returns error code 1355, which is ERROR_NO_SUCH_DOMAIN No domain controller is available for the specified domain or the domain does not exist. On another machine, which is accidentally a windows server 2003, it returns almost immediately with the correct domain controller name inside the returned DOMAIN_CONTROLLER_INFO structure. Now the question is what is missing on my workstation for that API to find the correct domain controller?

• Use hard disk image like a regular hard disk on Linux

  If you have a hard disk image (including partition table, multiple partitions,...), is it possible to let Linux treat it as a regular hard disk? By "regular hard disk" I mean I would like to have the image show up as, for instance, /dev/hdx and its partitions as /dev/hdx1,... (I know I can mount one of the partitions in the image using "mount -o loop,offset=x ..." but I don't really like this option.)
