  • Oracle XE as local recovery database and Oracle Standard as main db

    Hi, I just wanted to know what you guys think about this. I have an app written in Visual Basic .Net as my front end and and Oracle 11g Standart database as the back-end. So I have like 20 pc's running this app locally. They're all inserting, updating, deleting data on this single database. I want to develop a solution in the case that the server database crashes or cannot stay on line. So i think of having oracle 10g XE on each pc. Thus all the data will be stored in the local db. I think about running a proccess once in a while (ex. every 15 minutes) to send/get the data to/from the main server. What do you think about this strategy?

  • setting mailx default smtp relay

    I heave searched Google for this and cannot seem to find a soloution I have bsd-mailx on my server and it sends mail just fine However I wished to have a development environment at home. I need mailx such that php can use its mail function. However the mail is failing to resolve the domain name @gmail.com I am aware that my ISP talk talk may be blocking this is they have a mail server smtp.talktalk.net I assume I would have to add somthing to /etc/mail.rc and use heirloom maEdit turned out I had a instance of send mail running that was doing weird things.. after killing ilx not bsd-mailx,,but would still need to set default smtp relay Im on ubuntu 12.4 thankyou Edit turned out I had a instance of send mail running that was doing weird things.. after killing that, I was able to add the smtp relay, but its now saying that the sender domain does not work. I assume this domain has to route back the the same machine the mail originated from. as i dont have a domain for my home address.

  • Has any one used client_side_validations gem with Chosen.js dropdown?

    I am using chosen.js (http://harvesthq.github.com/chosen/). I was wondering if anyone has been able to use chosen select boxes and client_side_validations together. The issue is that when we use chosen it hides the original select element and renders its own dropdown instead, and when we focus out the validation isn't called and also when the validation message is shown it is shown with the original select element so positioning of the error isnt also correct. What could be a good way to handle this, My be we can change some code inside ActionView::Base.field_error_proc which currently looks something like ActionView::Base.field_error_proc = Proc.new do |html_tag, instance| unless html_tag =~ /^<label/ %{<div class="field_with_errors">#{html_tag}<label for="#{instance.send(:tag_id)}" class="message">#{instance.error_message.first}</label></div>}.html_safe else %{<div class="field_with_errors">#{html_tag}</div>}.html_safe end end Any ideas ?   • Why doesn't my form post when I disable the submit button to prevent double clicking?

    Like every other web developer on the planet, I have an issue with users double clicking the submit button on my forms. My understanding is that the conventional way to handle this issue, is to disable the button immediately after the first click, however when I do this, it doesn't post. I did do some research on this, god knows there's enough information, but other questions like Disable button on form submission, disabling the button appears to work. The original poster of Disable button after submit appears to have had the same problem as me, but there is no mention on how/if he resolved it.   • How do I run my application as superuser from Eclipse?

    I'm running in to an error when I try to run my server application from Eclipse. The error is java.net.BindException: Permission denied. I think this is because I am using port 443 to set up an SSL connection. I can get around this problem if I run my code on the command line using javac and sudo. Is there a way to set up Eclipse so that when I hit the run button, my application is executed with sudo?

  • Getting attachments from a mail account with .NET

    I'd like a free library for .NET to get attachments from an account (such as gMail, or others) via imap4 (not necessarely), and save them in a folder. Ideally it would allow me to get a list of them, and download only some given ones (filtering by extension, name, and/or size) and be free.     How can I make simple format-type customizations to ALL OOTB workflow related emails? I have found that many pre-Sharepoint 2010 posts indicated that OOTB workflow emails are in fact 'alerts', and therefore OOTB workflow emails could be customized using the same technique which is: making a customized version of alerttemplates.xml and even using IAlertNotifyHandler to intercept all alert emails. However, it seems that OOTB workflow and workflow task emails are not affected by changes to my customalerttemplates.xml file (which I do follow with stsadm updatealerttemplates, iisreset, and timer service restart).     I installed ruby-mbox by doing gem install ruby-mbox Running this: #!/usr/bin/ruby require 'rubygems' require 'mbox' m = IO.read('test.eml') puts m.size m = Mbox.new(m) puts m produces this: 71309505 /Library/Ruby/Gems/1.8/gems/ruby-mbox-0.0.2/lib/mbox/mbox.rb:45:in `initialize': uninitialized constant Mbox::StringIO (NameError) from r.rb:7:in `new' from r.rb:7 I have proved that "m" is assigned a string containing the contents of the file, just before Mbox.new(m) is called. It looks as though the Mbox::StringIO should have been defined by hasn't been. What's going wrong here? Ruby version: ruby 1.8.7 (2009-06-12 patchlevel 174) [universal-darwin10.0] (That's the default ruby installed on OS X 10.6.6)

  • How does jQuery .data() work?

    My Javascript knowledge is pretty limited. Instead of asking several javascript questions I got the "message" from Stack overflow and started using jQuery right away in order to save me some time. However several times I do not undestand the "magic" behind jQuery and I would love to learn the details. I want to use .data() in my application. The examples are very helpful. I do not understand however WHERE these values are stored. I inspect the webpage with Firebug and as soon as .data() saves an object to a dom element, I do not see any change in Firebug (either HTML or Dom tabs). I tried to look at jQuery source, but it is very advanced for my Javascript knowledge and I lost myself. So the question is: Where do the values stored by jQuery.data() actually go? Can I inspect/locate/list/debug them using a tool?

    Hi! I have an application that read emails from a pop3 account. When I connect to the account I download all new emails and process body and attachments. If there is an error processing one of the emails I would like to download it again next time I connect to the account but since I only get new emails and the failed one was already downloaded I don't get it so I can try to process it again. I can do it this with any pop3 command or I have to store locally failed emails?

  • Which parts of the client certificate to use when uniquely identifying users?

    I'm designing a system where users will be able to register and afterward authenticate with client certificates in addition to username/password authentication. The client certificates will have to be valid certificates issued by a configured list of certificate authorities and will be checked (validated) when presented. In the registration phase, I need to store part(s) of the client certificate in a user repository (DB, LDAP, whatever) so that I can map the user who authenticates with client certificate to an internal "user". One fairly obvious choice would be to use certificate fingerprint; But fingerprint itself is not enough, since collisions may occur (even though they're not probable), so we need to store additional information from the certificate. This SO question is also informative in this regard. RFC 2459 defines (4.1.2.2) that certificate serial number must be unique within a given CA. With all of this combined, I'm thinking of storing certificate serial number and certificate issuer for each registered user. Given that client certificates will be verified and valid, this should uniquely identify each client certificate. That way, even when client certificate is renewed, it would still be valid (serial number stays the same, and so does the issuer). Did I miss something?
