• Mult-line Svg tooltip

  I have created numerous polygon shapes in SVG format. and grouped them together. When the user hovers over the group a tooltip box appear. I have used ecmascript. What i am looking to do is make the tooltip box a multiline box. • Stored procedure performance randomly plummets; trivial ALTER fixes it. Why?

  I have a couple of stored procedures on SQL Server 2005 that I've noticed will suddenly take a significantly long time to complete when invoked from my ASP.NET MVC app running in an IIS6 web farm of four servers. Normal, expected completion time is less than a second; unexpected anomalous completion time is 25-45 seconds. The problem doesn't seem to ever correct itself. However, if I ALTER the stored procedure (even if I don't change anything in the procedure, except to perhaps add a space to the script created by SSMS Modify command), the completion time reverts to expected completion time. IIS and SQL Server are running on separate boxes, both running Windows Server 2003 R2 Enterprise Edition. SQL Server is Standard Edition. All machines have dual Xeon E5450 3GHz CPUs and 4GB RAM. SQL Server is accessed using its TCP/IP protocol over gigabit ethernet (not sure what physical medium). The problem is present from all web servers in the web farm. When I invoke the procedure from a query window in SSMS on my development machine, the procedure completes in normal time. This is strange because I was under the impression that SSMS used the same SqlClient driver as in .NET. When I point my development instance of the web app to the production database, I again get the anomalous long completion time. If my SqlCommand Timeout is too short, I get System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException: Timeout expired. The timeout period elapsed prior to completion of the operation or the server is not responding. Question: Why would performing ALTER on the stored procedure, without actually changing anything in it, restore the completion time to less than a second, as expected? Edit: To clarify, when the procedure is running slow for the app, it simultaneously runs fine in SSMS with the same parameters. The only difference I can discern is login credentials (next time I notice the behavior, I'll be checking from SSMS with the same creds). The ultimate goal is to get the procs to sustainably run with expected speed without requiring occasional intervention. Resolution: I wanted to to update this question in case others are experiencing this issue. Following the leads of the answers below, I was able to consistently reproduce this behavior. In order to test, I utilize sp_recompile and pass it one of the susceptible sprocs. I then initiate a website request from my browser that will invoke the sproc with atypical parameters. Lastly, I initiate a website request to a page that invokes the sproc with typical parameters, and observe that the request does not complete because of a SQL timeout on the sproc invocation. To resolve this on SQL Server 2005, I've added OPTIMIZE FOR hints to my SELECT. The sprocs that were vulnerable all have the "all-in-one" pattern described in this article. This pattern is certainly not ideal but was a necessary trade-off given the timeframe for the project.

This time I will generate tuples inside of tuples. Here is an example; lis = [[(1,2), (3,4)], [(5,2), (1,2)], [(2,1), (1,2)]] When I use it in itertools.product function this is what I get, ((1, 2), (5, 2), (2, 1)) ((1, 2), (5, 2), (1, 2)) ((1, 2), (1, 2), (2, 1)) ((1, 2), (1, 2), (1, 2)) ((3, 4), (5, 2), (2, 1)) ((3, 4), (5, 2), (1, 2)) ((3, 4), (1, 2), (2, 1)) ((3, 4), (1, 2), (1, 2)) I want to change it in a way that if a sequence has (a,b) inside of it, then it can not have (b,a). In this example if you look at this sequence ((3, 4), (1, 2), (2, 1)) it has (1,2) and (2,1) inside of it. So, this sequence ((3, 4), (1, 2), (2, 1)) should not be considered in the results. As I said, I asked similar question before, in that case it was not considering duplicate elements. I try to adapt it to my problem. Here is modified code.   I have an iPad app in which I'm setting the shadow color of a UILabel in a UIView's initWithFrame: method. When I use the following syntax: m_label.shadowColor = [UIColor colorWithWhite:1.0 alpha:0.5]; I get this compiler error: Expected identifier before '[' token However, when I use the following syntax: [m_label setShadowColor:[UIColor colorWithWhite:1.0 alpha:0.5]]; It compiles without complaint. Using property syntax for other properties of the UILabel is working fine (shadowOffset, autoresizingMask, backgroundColor, font, textColor, etc.). • maven-ear-plugin works if jboss version is 4.2, but not 5. Why ?

  I am using maven to configure maven-ear-plugin. I am getting following exception when I say jboss version is 5 (See below code, under tag). • Create a timer countdown using hours, minutes & seconds from a future date

  I am using some code I found on the internet that creates a countdown from a certain date. I am trying to edit the code so that it only gives me a countdown from an hour, minute, and second that I specify from a future date. I cannot just have code that counts down from a specified time, I need it to countdown to a specified date in the future. This is important so that if the browser is refreshed the countdown doesn't start over but continues where left off. I will be using cookies so the browser remembers what future date was specified when it was first run. • Is it correct or incorrect for a Java JAR to contain its own dependencies?

  I guess this is a two-part question. I am trying to write my own Ant task (MyFirstTask) that can be used in other project's build.xml buildfiles. To do this, I need to compile and package my Ant task inside its own JAR. Because this Ant task that I have written is fairly complicated, it has about 20 dependencies (other JAR files), such as using XStream for OX-mapping, Guice for DI, etc. I am currently writing the package task in the build.xml file inside the MyFirstTask project (the buildfile that will package myfirsttask.jar, which is the reusable Ant task). I am suddenly realizing that I don't fully understand the intention of a Java JAR. Is it that a JAR should not contain dependencies, and leave it to the runtime configuration (the app container, the runtime environment, etc.) to supply it with the dependencies it needs? I would assume if this is the case, an executable JAR is an exception to the rule, yes? Or, is it the intention for Java JARs to also include their dependencies? Either way, I don't want to be forcing my users to be copying-n-pasting 25+ JARs into their Ant libs; that's just cruel. I like the way WAR files are set up, where the classpath for dependencies is defined under the classes/ directory. I guess, ultimately, I'd like my JAR structure to look like: myfirsttask.jar/ com/ --> the root package of my compiled binaries config/ --> config files, XML, XSD, etc. classes/ --> all dependencies, guice-3.0.jar, xstream-1.4.3.jar, etc. META-INF/ MANIFEST.MF I assume that in order to accomplish this (and get the runtime classpath to also look into the classes/ directory), I'll need to modify the MANIFEST.MF somehow (I know there's a manifest attribute called ClassPath, I believe?). I'm just having a tough time putting everything together, and have a looming/lingering question about the very intent of JARs to begin with. Can someone please confirm whether Oracle intends for JARs to contain their dependencies or not? And, either way, what I would have to do in the manifest (or anywhere else) to make sure that, at runtime, the classpath can find the dependencies stored under the classes/ directory?   I've created a subclass of UITableViewCell but I'm struggling to get it to work properly. If I use UITableViewStyleDefault then the class only works when highlighted. If I use UITableViewStyleValue1 then it mostly works but I'm unable to change label fonts much. I tried researching but it seems everyone is doing this via a .xib file, but not programatically. • Calculate minimum moves to solve a puzzle

  I'm in the process of creating a game where the user will be presented with 2 sets of colored tiles. In order to ensure that the puzzle is solvable, I start with one set, copy it to a second set, then swap tiles from one set to another. Currently, (and this is where my issue lies) the number of swaps is determined by the level the user is playing - 1 swap for level 1, 2 swaps for level 2, etc. This same number of swaps is used as a goal in the game. The user must complete the puzzle by swapping a tile from one set to the other to make the 2 sets match (by color). The order of the tiles in the (user) solved puzzle doesn't matter as long as the 2 sets match. The problem I have is that as the number of swaps I used to generate the puzzle approaches the number of tiles in each set, the puzzle becomes easier to solve. Basically, you can just drag from one set in whatever order you need for the second set and solve the puzzle with plenty of moves left. What I am looking to do is after I finish building the puzzle, calculate the minimum number of moves required to solve the puzzle. Again, this is almost always less than the number of swaps used to create the puzzle, especially as the number of swaps approaches the number of tiles in each set. My goal is to calculate the best case scenario and then give the user a "fudge factor" (i.e. 1.2 times the minimum number of moves). Solving the puzzle in under this number of moves will result in passing the level. A little background as to how I currently have the game configured: Levels 1 to 10: 9 tiles in each set. 5 different color tiles. Levels 11 to 20: 12 tiles in each set. 7 different color tiles. Levels 21 to 25: 15 tiles in each set. 10 different color tiles. Swapping within a set is not allowed. For each level, there will be at least 2 tiles of a given color (one for each set in the solved puzzle). Is there any type of algorithm anyone could recommend to calculate the minimum number of moves to solve a given puzzle?

What I'm trying to figure out is how to validate that a Card can only belong to a single Expansion.   I am working with a high resolution camera: 4008x2672. I a writing a simple program which grabs frame from the camera and sends the frame to a avi file. For working with such a high resolution, I found only x264 codec that could do the trick (Suggestions welcome). I am using opencv for most of the image handling stuff. • When can Java produce a NaN (with specific code question)

  I'm a bit perplexed by some code I'm currently writing. I am trying to preform a specific gradient descent (main loop included below) and depending on the initial conditions I will alternatively get good looking results (perhaps 20% of the time) or everything becomes NaN (the other 80% of the time). However it seems to me that none of the operations in my code could produce NaN's when given honest numbers! When I try to initialize them only the second of the two elements appear no matter what order I put them in.   Hi all. I have a make build system that I am trying to decipher that someone else wrote. I am getting an error when I run it on a redhat system, but not when I run it on my solaris system. The versions of gmake are the same major revision (one off on minor revision). Basically self explanatory from the names. Now as best I can tell, this is generating in /lib/deps a .d file that has the object and source dependencies in it. In other words, for the utilities.a library, I will get a utils.o and utils.c dependency stack, all in the file utils.d There is some syntax error that is being generated in that file I think, because I get the following error: ../lib/deps/util.d:25: *** target pattern contains no '%'. Stop. gmake[2]: *** [all] Error 2 gmake[1]: *** [all] Error 2 gmake: *** [all] Error 2 I am not sure if my error is in the dependency generation, or some further down part, like the object generation target?
