  I need to write a windows service which executes an application after a certain amount of time. I have checked out the code in MSDN and found an example in which the System.ServiceProcess.ServiceBase class is sub-classed. I did the following. created a new C# console application copied the code from the MSDN example Run I get the following error The type or namespace name 'ServiceProcess' does not exist in the namespace 'System'(are you missing an assembly reference?) As i had copied the example from MSDN, i have no idea why the code still does not work. This is my first experience writing services and i`d love some guidance. thnkx!

  I am currently trying to upgrade a project of mine from .NET 3.5 to .NET 4.0 Everything was going really well, all code compiled, all tests passed. Then I hit a problem deploying to my stagomg environment. Suddenly my logins were no longer working. It seems my SHA1 hashed passwords are being hashed differently in .NET 4. I am using the SHA1CryptoServiceProvider: SHA1CryptoServiceProvidercryptoTransformSHA1 = new SHA1CryptoServiceProvider(); To test I created a new Visual Studio project with 2 console applications. The first targeted at .NET Framework 3.5 and the second at 4.0. I ran exactly the same hashing code in both and different results were produced. Why is this happening and how can I fix this? I obviously cannot go update all of my users passwords considering I do not know what they are. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

• executing a class in remote jvm

  Hi All, I have a small test class that i want to run on a particular jvm that's already up and running (basically it's an web application running on Tomcat) . The reason i want to do this is i want to execute a small test class (with the main method and all) within that jvm so that i get the same environment (loaded and initialized classes) for my test class. Is it possible to indicate that ,say through a jvm parameter, that it should not initialize a new vm to execute my class but instead go and execute on the remote vm and show me the result here, on my console. So the local jvm acts as a kind of thin proxy ? I am not aware in case there are some tools that should make this possible ... also heard somewhere that java 6 jvm comes with an option like this , is that true ?? Please help me. Thanks,

• Hudson jobs won't call javac?

  Hi, I have just set up Hudson on my server. For some reason, my build will not call javac to compile my builds...? I have set the path to the JDK in the Manage Hudson area, and it seems to recognise it (doesn't give me a warning). Is there something else I'm supposed to do?   hi, so i have a table lets say call it "tbl.items" and there is a column "title" in "tbl.items" i want to loop through each row and for each "title" in "tbl.items" i want to do following: the column has the datatype nvarchar(max) and contains a string... filter the string to remove words like in,out, where etc (stopwords) compare the rest of the string to a predefined list and if there is a match perform some action which involves inserting data in other tables as well.. the problem is im ignotent when it comes to writing T-sql scripts, plz help and guide me how can i achieve this? whether it can be achieved by writing a sql script?? or i have to develope a console application in c# or anyother language?? im using mssql server 2008 thanks in advance

  Hi All, Trying my luck with the vote_fu rails plugin. The functionality looks like exactly what I need for a project of mine, but I have hit a roadblock. I have followed the github readme to the letter, installing it as a plugin. I have put acts_as_voteable on my "Event" model and acts_as_voter on my User model. In the console, when I try: >> event.votes or >> user.votes it successfully returns an empty array. but when I try to do the following: user.vote_for(event) I get "NoMethodError: undefined method `user_id' for #<Vote:0x7f5ed4355540>" Any ideas? I'm probably just missing something obvious, but maybe something is missing from the plugin's readme. Thanks.

The WCF data service needs to be hosted by the .NET application (No ASP.NET and NO IIS). I have seen many WCF Data Service examples recently; they are all hosted by ASP.NET application. I also see the self-host (console application) examples, but it is for WCF Service (not WCF Data Service).   I'd like to be able to easily start an OSGi framework (preferably Equinox) and load up any bundles listed in my pom from a java main. Is this possible? If so, how? It seems like the pax tools would do this, but I can't seem to find any documentation indicating such.   When I open Developer Tools in Google Chrome, I see all kinds useless crap like Profiles, Timelines, not to mentions Audits but basic functionality like being able to set breakpoint both in js files and within html javascript code is missing!. I tried to use javascript Console which itself is buggy ( like when once it encounter JS error, cannot get out of it unless refresh the whole page useless when ajax is involved). I am surprised google engineers still have not figured this out if these features still not available. If they are and there is some twisted way to do this, can some one help?

• Zero KB SQLite File created by Core Data on application start up

  I'm developing an iPhone application using Core Data. I had everything working and had to make an adjustment to the database schema and change the relationships through the xcdatamodel file. I deleted the my project's sqlite file in Library/Application Support/iPhone Simulator/3.1.3//Documents. Build and run the application, it creates the sqlite file, but its empty with a file size of 0 KB. At a minimum the table information should be in there. There are no errors/warning in the console. Anyone have an idea what is wrong?

• Help submitting an asp.net form with jquery

  I'm trying to post the entire asp.net form to a certain url. I have tried: $.post("http://www.someaddress.com", $("form").serialize()); I have also tried: $.ajax({ type:"POST", url:"http://www.someaddress.com", data: $('form').serialize(), success: function(){ alert('yay'); } }); In both cases the submit is fine but no data is passed along with it. When i test the form.serialize() in firebug console, this shows my form serialized just fine. When i view the submit in fiddler, i can see that the data part is not set. Maybe im not understanding the data part, but every single tutorial shows this as the way to go - serialize the form and set that as data. What must i do to get my serialized form as the data in my request? What am i missing? Also - why does the NET tab in firebug show all these requests as method OPTIONS?

• Visual Studio WCF Application now asking to manually attach to process

  I have a console app that is calling a WCF app hosted in IIS. Up until now everything has been fine and I am able to debug the app - step through it without any problems... Until I added my dev pc to a domain.... now every time I get step into the code hosted in IIS, a popup comes up asking if I would like to attach to this process... I can then continue debugging... again not a huge train smash - however... now it randomly just jumps to the end of the process (almost like some kind of timeout) and I am not able to reliably step and debug the IIS hosted code.... Any ideas? All the projects are in the same solution, and all running on the local dev pc... Using Visual Studio 2008, dev PC is Win 7

Here is the scenario - I have an array list of strings (say 100 strings) I have a Reader Class that reads the strings and passes them to a Writer Class that prints the strings to the console. Right now this runs in a Single Thread Model. I wanted to make this multi-threaded but with the following features - Ability to set MAX_READERS Ability to set MAX_WRITERS Ability to set BATCH_SIZE So basically the code should instantiate those many Readers and Writers and do the work in parallel. Any pseudo code will really be helpful to keep me going!

  I created a javascript class as follow: var MyClass = (function() { function myprivate(param) { console.log(param); } return { MyPublic : function(param) { myprivate(param); } }; })(); MyClass.MyPublic("hello"); The code above is working, but my question is, how if I want to introduce namespace to that class. Basically I want to be able to call the class like this: Namespace.MyClass.MyPublic("Hello World"); If I added Namespace.MyClass, it'll throw error "Syntax Error". I did try to add "window.Namespace = {}" and it doesn't work either. Thanks.. :)
