  • C# Gridview - Checking if a column already exists when adding a new column fails

    I have a GridView with 10 columns. On a certain condition, I want to add a new column called "Expiration Date". The problem is that when the user presses "Search" again (Postback) the column is added again. I check before adding the column, to see if it already exists: BoundField dtExp = new BoundField {DataField = "DateTimeExpired", HeaderText = "Expiration Date", DataFormatString = "{0:d}"}; if (!grid.Columns.Contains(dtExp)){grid.Columns.Add(dtExp);} But the problem is that even if the column already exists, "Contains" returns false. What am I doing wrong? Thanks!

    I have a data frame where one particular column has a set of specific values (let's say, 1, 2, ..., 23). What I would like to do is to convert from this layout to the one, where the frame would have extra 23 (in this case) columns, each one representing one of the factor values. The data in these columns would be booleans indicating whether a particular row had a given factor value... To show a specific example: Source frame: ID DATE SECTOR 123 2008-01-01 1 456 2008-01-01 3 789 2008-01-02 5 ... <more records with SECTOR values from 1 to 5> Desired format: ID DATE SECTOR.1 SECTOR.2 SECTOR.3 SECTOR.4 SECTOR.5 123 2008-01-01 T F F F F 456 2008-01-01 F F T F F 789 2008-01-02 F F F F T I have no problem doing it in a loop but I hoped there would be a better way. Scenario 1: Price changes in a time period EffectiveDate ExpiryDate Price 2009-01-01 2009-01-31 800$ 2009-02-01 Null 900$ So, if the price changes to 910$ on 2009-02-15, then the system should automatically update the expiry date on the previous effective price to 2009-02-14, to keep it consistent. Scenario 2: No price specified between 2009-02-01 to 2009-02-28 EffectiveDate ExpiryDate Price 2009-01-01 2009-01-31 800$ 2009-03-01 Null 900$ So, if new price is specified for 2009-02-15 onwards , then the system should automatically set the expiry date on the record to be inserted to 2009-02-28, because already a record effective from 2009-03-01 exists. Please suggest an effective way to handle these scenarios to model my framework, or are there any frameworks around that can do this . Thanks

  • Can the behaviour of new HTML5 form types be overridden?

    I was wondering if anyone knew if it were possible to override the default behaviour of browsers that support the new HTML input types such as type="email" and type="date"? I appreciate that I could test if a browser supports an input type and provide a fallback for those browsers that don't, but what I want to know is is there any way to prevent that default behaviour from happening in browsers that do support it? For instance, if in Opera I want to use the date input type, but I don't want Opera to display the native datepicker (i.e. I want to replace it with my own custom one) is that possible? Are there any DOM events triggered like onDatePickerShow that one can hook into? I don't believe that this is possible, but if anyone knows for sure one way or the other I would love to hear from you.

    Hi-- I'm usually a PHP guy but got stuck doing a project in vb.net. I have a query (sqldatasource) that returns a single value (the last update date). I want to use a label to say something like "Last updated: " < Label = (returned value) In PHP this would be simple. In vb.net, all I can find are endless badly written code behinds showing how you'd execute the query onLoad then bind it to the label. Is this really the only way to do this? It seems like a ridiculously simple problem to have such a long solution. I have used a datagrid control to just bind the query result directly, but it prints the column name as well as the date, so it's not ideal. Any ideas?

    I'm storing leads in a database, and each lead has a datetime field with a PST timezone based date & time. I want my user to be able to display all leads from a certain date (e.g. today, yseterday), and choose the timezone. E.g. if I want to see all leads that were generated yesterday in EST timezone, I need to first convert (or read) all the datetime values to EST, and then only select those who are in the right range (yesterday). What would be the best way to do that?

  • IE6 not rendering the page

    I have a web page which consists of a few component pages. When a user requests the page, the server assembles its component pages into the main page and sends it back to the browser. When there is an update on the component page, IE6 browser cannot see the updated content. However, IE7 and Firefox are fine. Checking with Fiddler, the http response returns 200, If-Modified-Since header is the same as the last modified date of the main page, the response raw html also has the updated content. It seems that IE6 browser abandons the rendering of the page because If-Modified-Since is the same as the last modified date of the main page. Does anyone know how to overcome this issue in IE6?

  • Using "Show values as" option in Excel 2007 pivot table when source is SSAS cube?

    I have an Excel 2007 pivot table showing "Year" across the top and "Month" down the side. What I am trying to do is represent the values as "% Difference" from the same month of the previous year. (Ex. If Jan-07 is $100,000 and Jan-08 is $120,000, I would like Jan-08 to show '20%'). However, every time I try to do this (using the "Show values as" tab of Value Field Settings) all of my numbers go to '#N/A'. Is there a way to do this using an Analysis Services cube as the data source? When I do this exact same thing using data on a different sheet as the data source for the pivot table, it works fine. Thanks in advance for any insight into this.

    Hi, I am trying out Prince with the Princely plugin, which is supposed to format templates that have the .pdf into a PDF generator. Right now, it says cannot find action. What do I need to do to fix this?

    I've used will_paginate in a number of projects now, but when I moved one of them to Rails 2.3.5, clicking on any of the pagination links (page number, next, prev, etc.,) went from getting nice URLs like this: http://foo.com/user/1/date/2005_01_31/phone/555-6161 to this: http://foo.com/?options[]=user&options[]=date&options[]=2005_01_31&options[]=phone&options[]=555-6161 I have a route that looks like this that is probably the source of the 'options' keyword: map.connect '/browse/*options', :controller=>'assets', :action=>'browse' It's enough of an annoyance that I'm willing to roll a paginator to get around this if there isn't a way to get back to where I was before. Is there a way to get will_paginate to turn array-style routes into sane urls again? Thanks.

    Say I have this line of code in the view. <?php echo CHtml::activeTextField($model,'start_time'); ?> start_time is a UNIX timestamp. When just displaying it in a view I can apply functions like date() on it. Where should I apply the formatting when I'm displaying it in a form, by using the above line of code? (This case of timestamps/dates might be special, but I'm also interested in how would one go about if it wasn't a date and I just want to work with "value in database" < "different representations of the value in different views.
