  This is just a hypothetical scenario to illustrate my question. Suppose that there are two threads and one TVar shared between them. In one thread there is an atomically block that reads the TVar and takes 10s to complete. In another thread is an atomically block that modifies the TVar every second. Will the first atomically block ever complete? Surely it will just keep going back to the beginning, because the log is in an inconsistent state?

  I am using the new Virtual PC Beta on Windows 7 and I saw: The virtual machines have a special directory, but once you are in it, the VMs are shown. How can I do the same thing, with custom headings ("Machine status", "Memory", etc.) and custom toolbar buttons ("Create virtual machine")? I can't seem to find any documentation for this.

Using java.io is simple, but I don't know how to access android resources or assets using it. Only the source files (developers have to download or somehow resolve the dependencies themselves) or the both the source files and the dependencies?   Reading this When a bean is a singleton, only one shared instance of the bean will be managed and all requests for beans with an id or ids matching that bean definition will result in that one specific bean instance being returned. Will be managed... What does that mean? If there's only one object, than any modification to this object will result in that every another attempt to get this bean will return a modified instance??

• mysql not in my PATH for some reason

  I've installed mysql on several macs and on one of them mysql is not in the path. If I export it it shows up in the path correctly, but upon reboot, disappears. • Rewrite only URLs that don't exist

  I'm looking for a way to rewrite URLs only if the path doesn't exist. This isn't to handle 404s, but to redirect page URLs to a shared PHP file (ie: '/contact-us/' - '/show_page.php?page=contact-us'). The basic redirect is easy enough to achieve, however I want to be able to override the default page by adding '/contact-us/index.php' in the site root. Is this achievable with mod_rewrite or would I have to do something else?

  Hi, I'm using godaddy shared hosting, with IIS7, Integrated mode, and published up a bog standard MVC2 app to dev.lazygekko.com created with Visual Web Developer 2010. It all works, however when any of the links are clicked, they point to dev.lazygekko.com/dev/..., dev being the folder it is pointing at. Can anyone shed some light on what I may be doing wrong?   Accidentally I have created file "-" (just a minus) in a directory and commited it. I have to delete it because its causing error on other machines: svn: Can't convert string from 'UTF-8' to native encoding: svn: ?\226?\128?\147 I can remove it from local directory using "rm -i *" or with python "os.remove('\xe2\x80\x93')" but those methods do not work with "svn rm". How to delete such file from svn repository?

  Quick and simple question. There are examples online about achieving in-memory gzip compression with zlib (C++) WITHOUT external libraries (like boost or such)? I just need to compress and decompress a block of data without much options.
