• Periods in URL causes ColdFusion error

  I am currently having issues with users (or bots, not sure) visiting non-existent links that have three periods in a sub-directory. For example, if someone goes to: http://www.example.com/.../test/index.cfm? Then I receive the following error: String index out of range: -1 null The error occurred on line -1. I have tested it with just 1 period and just 2 periods and it goes straight to a 404 error. Any link though that has 3 or more periods will cause this error. My question is what can I do to stop this from happening? My thoughts are to send them to a 404 error page or redirect them. How could I do that? I am running ColdFusion 8.0.1 on Microsoft-IIS/7.0. • Using the system localizations on iPhone

  I want to make a back button for a navigation controller with the title "Back" instead of the title of the previous controller. I'm using this code: UIBarButtonItem *backButton = [[UIBarButtonItem alloc] initWithTitle:NSLocalizedString(@"Back", @"Back") style:UIBarButtonItemStyleBordered target:nil action:nil]; self.navigationItem.backBarButtonItem = backButton; I'd like to be able to skip localizing the "Back" string in my app (since I can only localize it in a limited number of languages). If I give my navigation controller no title, the back button will be automatically localized into whatever the language the user has chosen, so the system has translations of "Back" in many languages. Is there a way to access the localizations that are already present in the system and use them myself? These are things like "Back", "Cancel", "Done" and so on, which show up when creating one of the standard system buttons.

  To make an OO system as decoupled as possible, I'm thinking of the following approach: 1) we run an RMI/directory like service where objects can register and discover each other. They talk to this service through an interface 2) we run a messaging service to which objects can publish messages, and register subscription callbacks. Again, this happens through interfaces 3) when object A wants to invoke a method on object B, it discovers the target object's unique identity through #1 above, and publishes a message on the message service for object B 4) message services invokes B's callback to give it the message 5) B processes the request and sends the response for A on message service 6) A's callback is called and it gets the response. I feel this system is as decoupled as practically possible, but it has the following problems: 1) communication is typically asynchronous 2) hence it's non real time 3) the system as a whole is less efficient. Are there any other practical problems where this design obviously won't be applicable ? What are your thoughts on this design in general ?

• JRI Fatal Error on Ubuntu

  I have successfully installed JRI and rJava on Windows 7. I am now trying to get it to work on Ubuntu with 64bit OS. I can make rJava calls from within R but getting JRI to work is more difficult. I am running NetBeans 7.1.2 and I have followed various tricks in setting R_HOME and java.library.path to enable all the classes to be loaded. That is, I am past the error messages such as "jri library not found" and "R_HOME not set". From my java code,I can see that R_HOME = /usr/lib64/R. The error message I get now is Fatal error: you must specify '--save', '--no-save' or '--vanilla' This happens when Rengine is first called: Rengine r = new Rengine(args,false,null); This appears to be an error message from R; it seems to be expecting a command line argument. I haven't seen any posting with this error message. Any ideas? Thanks, Peter

I get an exception stating: System.FormatException: The specified string is not in the form required for an e-mail address. at System.Net.Mime.MailBnfHelper.ReadMailAddress(String data, Int32& offset, String& displayName) at System.Net.Mail.MailAddress.ParseValue(String address) at System.Net.Mail.MailAddress..ctor(String address, String displayName, Encoding displayNameEncoding) at System.Net.Mail.MailAddress..ctor(String address) The address used should be perfectly valid. So I'm guessing I have to encode the address somehow?

  I have an ASP.Net MVC application which works fine on IIS 6.0 / Windows Server 2003. • Response.Redirect causes System.Threading.ThreadAbortException

  When I use Response.Redirect(...) to redirect my form to a new page I get the error: A first chance exception of type 'System.Threading.ThreadAbortException' occurred in mscorlib.dll An exception of type 'System.Threading.ThreadAbortException' occurred in mscorlib.dll but was not handled in user code My understanding of this is that the error is being caused by the webserver aborting the remainder of the page the response.redirect was called on. I know I can add a second parameter to Response.Redirect that is called endResponse. If I set endResponse to True I still get the error but if I set it to False then I do not. I am pretty sure though that that means the webserver is running the rest of the page I redirected away from. Which would seem to be inefficient to say the least. Is there a better way to do this? Something other than Response.Redirect or is there a way to force the old page to stop loading where I will not get a ThreadAbortException?

The other thing is, the is a red arrow icon displayed over My Computer (Component Servers - Computers - My Computer). I have searched everywhere for this, but I couldnt find a solution that resolves my specific problem. Im using VISTA and this error started after I reinstalled my SQL server 2008. I have 2 dll that I need to add but I cannot, because of this error.

  After two days fighting, I make the dll(compiled in GCC/G++) link correctly in MSVC, but while debuging, I got the runtime error, is say that: Runtime Error! Program: my_exe.exe This application has required the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Please contact the application's support team for more information. I have test something in that way: compiled a dll in mingw/gcc, link and debug in MSVC, it works correctly ,but while I implement it in my large project, I got the runtime error. And I tested the dll in mingw/GCC, it works correctly, it says that the runtime error does not come from programming error,it comes from the dll imcompatible between different platform.   Hi All! I have asp.net application, using LINQ to connecto to SQL Server 2008 R2 databse. My connection string: Data Source=[SqlServerIp];Initial Catalog=[databaseName]User Id=newLogin;Password=newPassword; When I deploy application on my local IIS (which is not the same machine as database server) it works fine, but when I deploy application on other IIS (the same machine as sqlServer) it throws an exception: System.Security.SecurityException: Request for the permission of type 'System.Data.SqlClient.SqlClientPermission, System.Data, Version=2.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089' failed. Anyone knows how to fix it? Maybe it is due to some bad configuration of IIS? Please help.

• Why so many individual System.Web.* DLLs?

  I've been thinking about ways to refactor a fairly expansive class/utility library I have, and one thing I think I want to do is split off any higher-level helper utilities that introduce new dependencies. I read some previous questions here, and one that I particularly noticed was a comment about how Microsoft freely uses namespaces across DLLs. The example given was System.Web - it's in the base framework, but there's also a System.Web.dll that adds more functionality to the namespace if you want it. I also noticed several other System.Web.* DLLs available, and I was wondering if there's a reason why they wouldn't be combined into a single DLL. Could it be that they have their own individual dependencies and Microsoft (like me) wanted to separate assemblies along those lines? Or is it for easier maintenance? Something else entirely?

• system() call returns "Permission Denied" on Windows XP

  I am experiencing a problem with a C program running on Windows XP that is getting Permission Denied (EACCES) errors when it tries to call system(). It doesn't seem to matter what I put in the command string, the commands all work manually but get Permission Denied errors when executed via system() The other interesting thing is that the program works correctly on other XP machines, just not this one. That makes it feel like some kind of OS setting, but I am not totally sure what system() does under the hood and would like to understand what is happening here. Thanks.

  I am trying to set up user generated sub domains for my PHP application. When I go to sub.domain.com and if I upload an index.html file it works fine, however if I use index.php it gives me a "Internal Server Error 500" message I have done the steps below to get subdomains working STEP 1: Edited my DNZ zone file and appended *.domain.com. IN A 91.111.111.111 STEP 2: Appended to httpd.conf the following: <VirtualHost 91.111.111.111:80> ServerName domain.com ServerAlias *.domain.com DocumentRoot /home/domain/public_html/sub <Directory "/home/domain/public_html/sub"> Options -Indexes Options FollowSymLinks AllowOverride All </Directory> </VirtualHost> Step 3: Tested by uploading an index.html file to the document directory in step 2, and works fine. Tried with an index.php gives a internal server error and then I looked into Apache error log and shows error for a redirect loop more than 10 times Update: getting this error: No user or group set - set suPHP_UserGroup Any ideas why I can not use any .php file in the directory?

• Xcode OpenGL Build Error (header file not found)

  When building my Objective-C project (for Mac OS 10.9, Xcode 5.11), I get the error message Lexical or Preprocessor Issue 'OpenGL/OpenGL.h' file not found. The error is caused by the include section of the file CVDisplayLink.h where the above named file is included. CVDisplayLink.h belongs to the framework CoreVideo. Now there are two strange points related to that issue: The error appeared after I tried to test some basic OpenGL features using the tutorial in the Mac Developer Library ( https://developer.apple.com/library/mac/documentation/GraphicsImaging/Conceptual/OpenGL-MacProgGuide/opengl_drawing/opengl_drawing.html#//apple_ref/doc/uid/TP40001987-CH404-SW8 ). I added an NSOpenGLView to my MainMenu as well as the related code given in the tutorial. Then the error message appeared. I also tried to add the OpenGL and CoreVideo frameworks to my project target, but this did not help. After some frustration, I removed the NSOpenGLView from my project, as well as all related code. Now the error Message still appeares and I have no Idea how to ged rid of it.

This error can be caused by a virtual directory not being configured as an application in IIS. E:\Users\Sarin\Documents\Visual Studio 2010\WebSites\WebAssist\blog\web.config 61 I added the webiste as a Virtual Directory and also converted that to application. What could this be? Can't find in the help file. The full error message is: ODBC - 2169 [iAnywhere Solutions][Advantage ODBC Driver] Option Value Changed. • Compiler error when using abstract types

  I'm trying to implement a "protocol helper" trait that is responsible for matching up Prompts and Responses. The eventual goal is to have an object that defines the various Prompt and Response classes as subclasses of a sealed trait, then have a class that mixes in the ProtocolSupport trait for that Protocol object. The problem is that my current approach won't compile, even though I'm fairly sure it should.
