  • extending Bash tab completion: how to handle paths / partial commands?

    I've added tab completion for my program to bash. It works quite well, but I don't know how to handle partial completion of words. Example: the user types ./program /home/user/De and presses TAB. This is then completed to ./program /home/user/Desktop/ , but there's now a trailing whitespace after 'Desktop/', which is not what I want. Basically, I need a way of preventing bash from adding whitespace after the completed word. I don't want to use bash's completion for paths.

  • 2 Spaces or 1 Tab, what's the standard for indentation in the Rails Community?

    I've noticed that most of the HTML/XML/HAML that gets generated from plugins uses 2 spaces instead of 1 tab. I use textmate and have tabs set to 4 spaces for HAML/HTML/XML and 2 spaces for Javascript/Ruby, but I only have to press the tab key once to get nice indentation. Pressing the space bar twice and delete twice seems like too much work :p. Do you manually type two spaces, or is some middle layer converting tabs to two spaces? Or do just a few of you use tabs?

  • How to implement EntityDataSource Where IN entity sql clause

    I want to pass a number of values into a parameter of the EntityDataSource, e.g.: Where="it.ORDER_ID IN {@OrderIdList}" (this is a property on the EntityDataSource) <WhereParameters> <asp:ControlParameter Name="OrderIdList" Type="Int16" ControlID="OrderFilterControl" PropertyName="OrderIdList" /> </WhereParameters> This doesn't work as ORDER_ID is of type int32 and I need to pass in multiple values, e.g. {1,2,3} etc The next thing I tried was setting the Where clause in code-behind and this all works except I can't get data binding on DropDownLists to work. By this I mean no value is returned from the bound dropdownlists in the EntityDataSource Updating Event. My ideal solution would be to use a WhereParameter on the EntityDataSource but any help is appreciated. Thanks, Tony. However, I can't find the motion over the text entered in the recent input session. It's somewhat strange and the concept of such motion is buggy (where to move if you've deleted text, for example?), but it may solve my problem. Or, are there other ways of making uppercase the text you've recently inputted?

    I'm creating an outgoing e-mail message (TIdMessage) with add two TIdText objects, one with ContentType:='text/plain' and one ContentType:='text/html', and also a TIdAttachment object. This seems to work for Outlook, which shows the HTML content, but for some odd reason, GMail keeps showing me the text/plain version by default. I've tried adding the text/html version first, I've tried adding '; charset=iso-8859-1' to the content type string, but I can't seem to find what else is different with other e-mails that GMail is showing the HTML from rightaway.

    Hello, I need to display a text in 3D using vml/canvas/svg and do some transformation to the shape of the text like the effect of Ctrl+T in photoshop, even align a line of text to a curve, is there a way to convert text to shape first? The only thing close is getImageData() in firefox which is not ideal but OK. Any better methods? Using browser-specific hacks or voodoo is OK, but no Flash please :)

  • How do I turn off the click sound when closing a tab in chrome?

    Every time I close a tab in Chrome, it makes a click sound. How do I turn off that sound? I reported that issue back in Oct 2010. The problem doesn't appear on all clients and the reason is still unclear. Common attempts at solving the issue include simply turning off the sound in Windows. But I would prefer to solve the problem at the source. Why is Chrome even triggering that sound to be played? And why is it delayed? The problem would be far less annoying if the sound could easily be related to the action taken. Installing the Chrome Toolbox and muting all tabs has no effect on this issue. When switching to a different Chrome user profile, the new user profile does exhibit the same issue.

  • All browsers hang on windows 7 in tab says 'Waiting for...' need restart

    I'm having a frustrating problem with browsers on OS windows 7 home premium. IE 10: My web browsing works ok for a while and then pages freeze and tab at top says "Waiting for ...' and never loads. Strangely I can still get to Google search results but if I click anything it freezes. Chrome freezes too and says 'The page has become unresponsive ...kill page' Safari stops also. I have tried clearing cookies, cache, turning off Bitdefender firewall and nothing apart from a restart fixes it. consequently I am forced to restart my computer several times a day to stop this browser hang. I have no idea what could be causing this ..any help greatly appreciated.

  • Send chrome tab from w7 laptop to w7 HTPC? (Like with iPad to AppleTV)

    For the last couple days I've been trying to figure out how to get open tabs syncing between chrome installs on different computers to no avail. (if it's supposed to work the way I think it should, that is.) I have a laptop that I do all my web browsing on. Once in a while I'll come across some video that's worthy of the big-screen and the surround sound and want to open that tab (or media) on the HTPC. It'd be nice if I could just 'Right click Send to HTPC' and it opens up there with no further hassle. But even opening chrome on the HTPC and finding all my current tabs waiting would be fine. Alas, open tabs syncing doesn't seem to actually open tabs on other devices for me. Has anyone come up with a way to accomplish anything similar? Thanks all!

Kind of like a Lynda.com for back end development. However, I have not find one place that offers quality material that is easily accessible for the user, and that is priced competitive. This is what I'm looking for: Online Video tutorials with free future updates (videos that can be accessed on any device ie: android portable devices, mac / ipad, linux machines) Printable courseware (ie PDFs so that you can take notes, print if necessary, and read in a tablet in case you don;t have internet access) labs, and easy to access code Pre/Post Assessments/Exams for each training to keep track of your progress and what you have learned/skills. (Appdev used to offer this but it was way too expensive (thousands for each training ie 1k for each. I paid about five thousand at Appdev, and now I regret that purchase), and after a few years/months the training became obsolete - outdated) I looked at learnnowonline.com/learndevnow but it seems that their courseware / text reference material can only be accessed online, and don't know if their videos work in all mobile devices, and browsers (Safari, Chrome, IE, Opera, Firefox) Also, it seems Appdev not longer exist and now is called " AppDev is now LearnNowPlus : www.learnnowonline.com/appdev That site not longer offers prices. I tried to find reviews but could not find any. Does anyone know, or can share a review about some of these type of online training service providers?     Let's say I have a big corpus (for example in english or an arbitrary language), and I want to perform some semantic search on it. For example I have the query: "Be careful: [art] armada of [sg] is coming to [do sg]!" And the corpus contains the following sentence: "Be careful: an armada of alien ships is coming to destroy our planet!" It can be seen that my query string could contain "semantic placeholders", such as: [art] - some placeholder for articles (for example a / an in English) [sg], [do sg] - some placeholders for NPs and VPs (subjects and predicates) I would like to develop a library which would be capable to handle these queries efficiently. I suspect that some kind of POS-tagging would be necessary for parsing the text, but because I don't want to fully reimplement an already existing full-text search engine to make it work, I'm considering that how could I integrate this behaviour into a search engine like Lucene? I know there are SpanQueries which could behave similarly in some cases, but as I can see, Lucene doesn't do any semantic stuff with stored texts. It is possible to implement a behavior like this? Or do I have to write an own search engine?
