  • How do I set up disk quotas over LDAP on CentOs?

    I've been google-ing for some time and I haven't been able to find any resources or hints on the subject. I am wondering if it is possible to do so, if so how? Any nudge in right direction will be appricated. I do know that if you download and install "Linux Quota" from source, you'll get some perl scripts which are supposed to aid with the matter. But there is as far as I know absolutely no good documentation to help you along the way. I am also running a NFS server from the same machine. Note: This is for a university assignment, so I might be totally stupid for asking this question. I am trying to explore the options. If there is a better way of solving this, please do tell. Edit: Here is a link to the site of Linux Quota. They do include a LDAP schema, so it should be possible.

    I tried: $('#canvas').append('<div class="tile"></div>').css({left: leftPos, top: topPos});, but that sets the style of #canvas rather than the appended element. I then tried: $('#canvas').append(('<div class="tile"></div>').css({left: leftPos, top: topPos}));, but that gives the error "Object <div class="tile"></div> has no method 'css'". How can I add the element and set its style at the same time?

  • How to set a theme for Windows XP to use before a use logs in?

    If Windows XP "welcome screen" is disabled (manually or by joining a domain) an ordinary window is used to log-in (like it was in Windows 2000). This window is styled with default Windows XP "Luna" theme (blue window title, etc). All theme customizations (including turning them off at all to use plain Win2000/98 window style) are normally applied after a user logs-in. How can I alter this? I'd like either to turn off visual styles at all or to apply "Zune" styling to BEFORE a user logs in (and it'd be good to use the same settings as default for new users created).

  • How can I set a minimum thumbnail size with ImageMagick?

    I'm trying to create thumbnails of JPG photos using ImageMagick's convert tool. The thumbnails need to have a defined size (210x159), no blank areas, and the image can be cropped if necessary. Unfortunately, I only have ImageMagick 6.3.7 available, which doesn't support the '^' geometry modifier (added in v6.3.8-3). Is there another way to achieve this in earlier versions of ImageMagick?   • Can I set Windows default second-monitor behaviour to "Extend these displays"?

    I travel to multiple offices (and multiple desks in those offices), and whenever possible I plug an external monitor into my laptop. Whenever I plug in a monitor I haven't used before, Windows defaults to "Duplicate these displays" - which messes up the arrangement of icons on my desktop if the external monitor is a different shape from my laptop's monitor. I then select "Extend these displays", and my laptop screen returns to its original shape - but my icons don't go back to their original arrangement. Grrrrr. Fast-forward a few days or weeks; I've got my icons arranged so I can find stuff again - then I go to a new office and it starts all over again. I'm tired of this. Is it possible to make "Extend these displays" the default behavior? I'm using Windows 8 x64 Home Premium, but I had the same complaint under Windows 7 x64 Ultimate. (Prior to that, I hadn't discovered the joy of dual displays. Ah, the time I wasted...)

    Is there a way to have Silverlight automatically install updates without user interaction? I'm running Boxee on a Mac Mini, and I make heavy use of the Netflix app. However, when I start watching a Netflix movie or TV show, Silverlight often tells me "There is an update to Silverlight available, do you want to install it?" I have to start up Screen Sharing or plug in a mouse to click "OK" and continue. I'd rather just update Silverlight automatically without user interaction.

  • How do i set a (open_)basedir with php using fastcgi/nginx?

    Essentially i found out you can limit the folders each user has access to by using php's basedir/open_basedir. I'd like to have each php only access its own files. So i wrote fastcgi_param open_basedir $document_root; in hopes that it would work. It didnt. I googled and only found results saying you cant do it via fastcgi or nginx. Is this true or can i not do it? PS: I -do- spawn php as its own user (rather then www-data) so it doesnt wreak havoc on my nonphp websites. But i still like to prevent one php script on a php site from accessing other directories (if i have a wordpress install on yourface.com its pretty obvious a valid php path is /var/www/yourface/<wordpress scripts>

    Somone made a Youtube video on Ditto, and that person uses Win+Num to paste items from the list. He put a screenshot of his settings on Google Plus: When I try to do the same, which is to put “1” in the text field of Position 1, and check the “Win” box to add the Windows key as the sole modifier for the shortcut, which will be Win + 1, I get an error in that says “Error Registering Position 1” in a window titled CP_Main: Could it be because Win+Num conflicts with the natural Win+Num shortcut (starts the application pinned to the taskbar in that position, or switches to that program) of Windows 7?     The Last Result column of the Scheduled Tasks Window on Windows Server 2003, displays the result of the execution of the .exe, .vbs, .ps1, .bat, .cmd, etc... that has been run at the scheduled time. There is also an archived history of this value that appears in the Scheduled Tasks Log (Found on the Scheduled Tasks Window under the Advanced->View Log) Now my question is, if I'm running a scheduled task that is a .exe, .vbs, .ps1, .bat, .cmd, etc... how do I use that process to return a specific Last Result when the process ends? P.S. If you think this question should be split up into smaller parts since I'm painting pretty broadly with it, just let me know and I'll split it into subsequent smaller questions

    I have a DataInputStream that I obtained from a Socket. Is there any way I can set a timeout for dis.read(...)? Currently I spawn a new thread to do the read. While the parent thread does a thread.join(timeout) to wait before interrupting it. I am aware of nio, but I don't think I want to refactor that much at this point. Thanks.

    I have two data disks that were, heretofore, in a mobo RAID configuration in Windows 7. They are now separate AHCI disks, visible in Computer Management. How to I go about making them a single mirrored volume in Windows? Note: The data is backed up up on two other separate disks, but it's a fair amount of work to do a restore (over 120'000 files, and I have to reset permissions). Note2: Currently the two disks are identical, and I can use the content of either one for this.

    I have just installed Ubuntu 9.10 server edition on my machine and I wish to run my own personal local server with other users in the same LAN. First, I was wondering what folder directory structure is best for the web root? Should I just use: /var/www/ and start throwing web documents there or should I create a folder elsewhere (maybe the home directory)? Second, in the /var/www/ directory only the root user can create documents in there, however, I wish to have other users be able to create files in the document root and upload them via FTP. Should I change the permissions or the www/ folder? Or again, should I create the document root elsewhere with different permissions? What is the safest way of doing this?
