  • How to edit a link within a contentEditable div

    Does anyone have any suggestions on how to edit an link in a contentEditable div? It would be ideal once the link is either clicked with mouse, or the cursor hits the link, that the a small prompt would pop up and allow the user to change the href property of the link. The prompt isn't the issue, but how is it possible to detect the link has been either clicked or that the cursor has arrived at the link? onfocus doesn't seem to work in a contentEditable div on Firefox & Safari. Any ideas?

    i have this page displaying statement every 2 second (using javascript), at the end of it there is a link which the user can click. with IE it will click the link before javascript generated statement is completed. when i use Link.Click() (with Firefox it will throw exception, which is fine with me) is there a way to wait for javascript execution to complete before link gets clicked (IE)?     Hi, i've a problem with a resize effect that i've done in http://www.mcz-scenario.it. When you click on a language, you can see the "background" image transferring into a certain position of the screen. this is the image: <img id="lago" src="http://www.mcz-scenario.it/images/lago.jpg" height="1070" width="1600" alt="lago" /> And this is the "resize" effect $("#lago").animate({ height: 148, width: 264, top: endPosition2.top+42, left: endPosition2.left+350+26}, 4000); Now...   • problem with image urls in htmlhelp created by docbook xsl

    I have a Docbook XML document that has some images with special characters in their names (German umlauts). I'm using Saxon 6.5.5 and the Docbook xslt Stylesheets to create HTMLHelp files based on that document. Unfortunately the filenames are then url-encoded (% and hexadecimal code), which internet explorer can't deal with (with firefox it works). I looked for a parameter which could change this feature, but couldn't find any. I also tried to save my image files using the encoded names, but this didn't work either. Does anyone know a good way around this, or will I have to simply forbid special characters in my image names?

  • ASP.NET MVC 2 RTM - favicon not displayed in Internet Explorer

    I have the following two lines in the head section in my masterpage: <link rel="shortcut icon" href="/Content/Images/favicon.ico" type="image/x-icon" /> <link rel="icon" href="/Content/Images/favicon.ico" type="image/ico" /> However, the favicon is not displayed in Internet Explorer (version 6, 7, 8). In Firefox and Safari the favicon works fine. I have even tried to replace href with the URL to my website (http://www......./Content/Images/favicon.ico) but that still does not work in Internet Explorer. Am I missing something?

  • Chrome plugin process - npapi plugin

    Hi, I'm writing an npapi plugin in Qt. My plugin works perfectly on firefox and opera. The problem in chrome i guess is regarding the "process-per-plugin" setup. What happens is, when i first open a page, the plugin is injected and all works as per expected. But when i navigate from that page to another one, in the new page, the plugin seems to get injected but even its constructor isnt called. To examine the issue, I tried killing my plugin process via the chrome task manager before i navigate to the new page. When i do this, the plugin works as expected in the 2nd page too. I'm unable to comprehend what is happening here. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

    Do you know of any text editor that can be used with a spell checker which is smart enough to ignore XHML/CSS and javascript tags? The requirements would be: It must run in Linux; It must be free and open source; It doesn't need to have WYSIWYG capabilities, but they would be welcome. It must have built in "tag skipping" capabilities or be configurable to skip (X)HTML tags, CSS and embedded Javascript; It doesn't need to have a HTML validator, but if it does it will be a plus; I've tried to use spell checker plugins for Kate, HTML validators for Firefox, Eclipse's HTML editor, but I couldn't find a solution that have a speel checker that ignores hml tags.   • Chrome Facebook Connect Window Resize

    I am experiencing a weird issue in Google Chrome for Mac OS X (10.6). I am using the JS Facebook Connect library and FB.Connect.streamPublish to share a story on a users profile. If the user is already logged in to Facebook prior to coming to the share page on my site, there's no problem - the window opens as an absolutely positioned div above the rest of my site. If the user is not logged in, though, a pop-up window opens that asks the user to log in. This works perfectly in Firefox, but when using Chrome, when the Facebook login window opens, it starts gradually resizing itself until it becomes a narrow column - when manually resizing the window, it gradually reverts back to the narrow column. I googled this problem and found that some users are experiencing the same issue, but I could not find a solution. Does anybody know anything about this? UPDATE: I filed a bug report at the Facebook Platform Bugzilla - Bug #9159

  • Why can't I download a whole image file with urllib2.urlopen()

    When I run the following code, it only seems to be downloading the first little bit of the file and then exiting. Occassionally, I will get a 10054 error, but usually it just exits without getting the whole file. My internet connection is crappy wireless, and I often get broken downloads on larger files in firefox, but my browser has no problem getting a 200k image file.   • Problem uploading .docx through html form

    I've made a simple form, with the proper enctype for uploading files. When i try to upload a .docx everything works fine in IE 8 and Safari, but in Firefox or IE 7 or 6 i can't even click submit, nothing happens! Could this still be a server issue? It's an apache server.   • Is it possible to Embed Gecko or Webkit in a Windows Form just like a WebView?

    Hi, I'd love to know if there is such thing as a Gecko.NET ;) I mean, just like we can embed a WebView and that is an "instance" of IE7 inside any Windows Forms application (and tell it to "navigateto (fancy_url);", I'd love to use FireFox or WebKit. Anybody tried this? UPDATE: Please bear in mind that although it is possible to embed gecko using the mentioned controls, it is still impossible to print while using gecko. UPDATE March 2010: It’s still not possible to print natively using GeckoFX, however a couple of methods exist that may be enough, depending upon what you’re trying to do.   • Silverlight 4 crashing every browser (SL3 doesn't)

    I am testing my application on a number of machines. It is fine on every machine except 1. I'm having problems with one XP machine where in internet explorer, chrome and firefox the Silverlight plugin crashes on EVERY page with Silverlight. Pages that used to work fine with silverlight 3 crash instantly - including my app and the Silverlight Beta 4 demo page!!! The browser crashes instantly and doesn't even attempt to load the page. I don't know how to debug this because there's no error. It just crashes instantly in all these browsers. Reinistalling, rebooting didn't fix the problem.

  • jquery ui dialog fixed positioning

    Hi, I needed the dialog to maintain its position fixed even if the page scrolled, so i used the extension at http://forum.jquery.com/topic/dialog-position-fixed-12-1-2010 but there's 2 problems with it: it flickers in IE and Firefox on page scroll (in Safari/Chrome it's fine) on closing and then reopening, it looses its stickyness and scrolls along with the page.   • PHP calling and displaying CSS in different browser.

    I'm having problem with CSS where, when I run on Mozilla Firefox the CSS is doing fine. But when I run inside Internet Explorer, the CSS is not working. When I try to change the code in the CSS file, it works otherwise. Mozilla is OK, but Internet Explorer is not. I have an idea calling 2 different CSS. For example, style_IE.css and style_moz.css. Both CSS files will be called from header.html. How can I fix this problem? Is there some code that can distinguish between browsers? Whenever the user is running in Internet Explorer, then style_IE is called if not it otherwise.

    Does anybody know if Microsoft is planning on having IE9 pass with 100/100 on acid 3? The current version of IE9 gets a 68/100 on the test (can be viewed here, main site here). What did IE8 pass with? What about IE7? How does it compare to other modern browsers such as Safari, Firefox, and Chrome?   • How to programmatically answer "Yes" to WebBrowser control security alert

    I am using WebBrowser control to programmatically access a single website, but whenever I login, I receive this certificate security alert: Since I trust that website and since I need to programmatically automate the login as well, this dialog box gets in the way. I searched SO for a solution and found a question similar to mine, but the accepted answer does not work! I defined a static member in the form that contains the WebControl: public static bool ValidateServerCertificate(object sender, X509Certificate certificate, X509Chain chain, SslPolicyErrors sslPolicyErrors) { return true; } In my form's constructor I added: ServicePointManager.ServerCertificateValidationCallback = new RemoteCertificateValidationCallback(ValidateServerCertificate); But that didn't get rid of the certificate security alert. Is there any way to get rid of this warning? Is there an IE equivalent to Firefox's Add Security Exception??? Note: The owner's certificate works perfectly fine (without exhibiting this security alert) with standalone browsers (IE, FF, Chrome, Safari). It only exhibits the problem with the WebBroswer control.

  • Any way to remove IEs black border around submit button in active forms?

    I am implementing a design that uses custom styled submit-buttons. They are quite simply light grey buttons with a slightly darker outer border: input.button { background: #eee; border: 1px solid #ccc; } This looks just right in Firefox, Safari and Opera. The problem is with Internet Explorer, both 6 and 7. Since the form is the first one on the page, it's counted as the main form - and thus active from the get go. The first submit button in the active form receives a solid black border in IE, to mark it as the main action. If I turn off borders, then the black extra border in IE goes away too. I am looking for a way to keep my normal borders, but remove the outline.

    Legend tags are always a nuisance as they don't adhere to a lot of CSS rules. I'm trying to get the text within a LEGEND tag to wrap using the typical solution of wrapping the text in the LEGEND with a span and setting the width and display: block. <legend> <span style="border: 1px solid blue; width: 250px; display: block"> This text should wrap if it gets longer than 250px in width </span> </legend> I thought this used to work In Firefox, but does not appear to work anymore in 3.6.   • In Javascript event handling, why "return false" or "event.preventDefault()" and "stopping the event

    It is said that when we handle a "click event", returning false or calling event.preventDefault() makes a difference, in which the difference is that preventDefault will only prevent the default event action to occur, i.e. a page redirect on a link click, a form submission, etc. and return false will also stop the event flow. Does that mean, if the click event is registered several times for several actions, using $('#clickme').click(function() { … }) returning false will stop the other handlers from running? I am on a Mac now and so can only use Firefox and Chrome but not IE, which has a different event model, and tested it on FF and Chrome and all 3 handlers ran without any stopping…. so what is the real difference, or, is there a situation where "stopping the event flow" is not desirable? this is related to http://stackoverflow.com/questions/3042036/using-jquerys-animate-if-the-clicked-on-element-is-a-href-a and http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2017755/whats-the-difference-between-e-preventdefault-and-return-false
