• Default IPv6 route on debian squeeze does not come up after boot

  I have a problem with my default IPv6 route not coming up after boot on a Debian Squeeze system. Otherwise I can't even reach my gateway. Only other changes I made was to activate ip forwarding for IPv6, because I want to run some LXC containers on that system.

• How to share malicious source code?

  I have a client whose site (not one i developed) is infected by a trojan/malicious code. I have asked him to send me the dirty files in a zip but either gmail or unzipping is blocking them. I've tried text files and word files, and i'm suspecting many different file types will be blocked the same way, either by my mail client, anti-malware software, browser etc. (which is normal). Do you know a way he could share those lines so i can read them and do some research about the malicious source code? An image/screenshot of his text editor would be an idea but the files are long + i'd prefer to be able to copy/paste from them. Thank you!

  I am currently using a Visual Basic script to determine how big the web folders are and what quota is decided for each folder. The quota is in no way a physical limit, just a value inserted by me to decide whether a user is using too much space or not. The script does the job quite neatly and sends an html file by mail on a regular basis. The problem is that it's such a hassle to insert new quotas since I have to fiddle around with the code. A central "control panel" with an overview and ability to insert new quotas would be more suitable. Is there any software that can do the following: Scan specified folder/subfolders Report the file size and present it in some sort of interface (could be a php/mysql solution) Ability to specify a quota and see the difference value ? It is really important that the quota handling is made simple so that some non-technician can handle this.

• HTTP request hangs for for exactly 150 seconds, then gives incomplete response. How do I find out wh

  I am hosting a Wordpress blog, and having a strange problem. When I connect to the server (http://71.65.199.125/ at the time of this writing) it displays the Title correctly, and half of a download bar, indicating it has received some of the page, then it hangs for exactly 150 seconds (timed it twice), then it sends the rest of the page, but without the stylesheet. after that it hangs indefinitely, continuing to say "connecting..." without making any progress. If you have any clues as to what might be happening, or how I could print debug logs of PHP or something to see what it is looking for during that hang time that would probably help. recent changed I have made: switched wordpress themes, however I did see it work once with the new theme. moved the server to another building, with an identical ISP, and linksys router forwarding setup. I have also added a favicon.gif file to /var/www but without linking to it from any of the wordpress pages. I have also had a unanticipated power interruption. Naively I see two benefits: We can throw away all emails which don’t carry a valid signature: Wrong! Mail forwarders (like Mailman) will produce emails from someone at «domain which signs» which are not signed correctly (in their forwarded shape). We can skip spam checking on signed email: Wrong! A spammer can send a single email through e.g. gmail.com and then resend that email as-is (w/o changing headers) to a million people. So what are the selling points of DKIM?

• World's simplest, LIGHTEST email client?

  I do not want the bloat that is outlook, nor do I need exchange server-like nifty features. Most certainly do not want the bloat that is thunderbird. I just want to be able to send and receive email as/with the particular email account I set up on my domain. Pocomail sounded like a nice idea but apparently it does not deal with html and since this is for a tiny fledgling biz, i think I might need to accomodate html... so I didn't investigate further. Too bad gmail won't let me send from my own mail server, really. :o) What do you guys use that simple and nifty? ===edit=== forgot to mention this is going to be on Windows Vista. (Hey, I'm not a "superuser", okay? I got bounced from stackoverflow :-) )

• How can I get Windows 7 to remember program windows size and position?

  I can open Outlook and it fills about half of the screen. I then maximize it to read some mail and then minimize it to do some other work. When I click on it again in the taskbar, it is back to the original size that it opened at. I have tried Ctrl-close and Ctrl-maximize but neither seems to work. This also happens with Explorer windows, AutoCAD, Revit, and other programs that I work with. Shouldn't a minimize and a maximize bring the window back to the last size and position?

• I accidentally hid my Gnome Panel

  I got a new tablet pc, and in attempt to hide the empathy mail icon, accidentally made the entire panel dissappear. (The one at the top that has applications/places/system, and battery life/network connections etc). I don't believe I killed it, because alt+f2, then gnome-panel does not bring it back. I've tried alt+ctrl+backspace to reset gnome, that didn't bring it back. It must just be some setting like 'hide' or something... Any tips to get it back? Thanks.

• Is it possible to spoof the From: field in Outlook?

  I am wondering if it is possible to change the From: field (not just the reply-to) in Outlook (specifically in the 2010 beta, but also interested in other versions). I am just moving over from Linux and am used to being able to do this quite simply in some clients. At first I thought it was the option of "Other E-Mail address" on the From drop down menu in a compose window, but that seems to do... nothing! I want to be able to do this so I can have email look like it comes from a domain I own but do not wish to run an SMTP server on.

• Thunderbird 16.0.1 with IMAP on Gmail on Windows 7

  My Thunderbird Trash folder is messed up and it does not get fixed by "Repair Folder". When I delete a message it goes into the Trash folder but if I try to access the message, I get a pop-up error message: The current operation on Trash did not succeed. The mail server for account for the XXX imail Gmail account responded: Some messages could not be FETCHed The message count in the Trash folder continues to increase. If I look in the Gmail trash folder I can read the deleted messages. Unlike other users that have reported this problem I cannot find a corrupted message in the Gmail Trash folder. In fact I do not find any corrupted messages in my any of Gmail labels.

• Set Thunderbird to always reply using plain text [closed]

  Possible Duplicate: How do I tell Thunderbird never to send (or even try to send) html emails? In the account settings of Thunderbird (version 11.0.1) I have disabled HTML and set it to compose messages as plain text. That works for new messages. However, when I get an HTML email and reply to that mail, Thunderbird uses HTML. I went to the setting in: Tools ? Options ? Composition ? Send Options ? Plain Text Domains And have tried *.* as the domain name. I also changed the default text format in Settings - Compose - Send options. Neither of them works, the reply is still using HTML (for my own text). How can I really reply in plain text only, regardless of incoming?

• How to redirect third party logs to log server in Centos

  I want to setup a simple log server to accept logs from all clients. I am not talking about standard system logs such as /var/log/mail , message, boot etc. I want to redirect or send application logs and they may not be using syslog daemon at all to log their message. Such as /appdir/log/error.log. I ran across many posts on the internet; most suggest using rsyslog or syslog-ng. Well so far I have been able to redirect the standard system logs not the application logs. I am using centos 5/6 environment.

• Issue with emails with attached emails.

  There is this problem with our email in my organisation that happens to some people. When a remote sender sends an email that has an attached email, the reciever gets the email but the attached email is blank. The recieving mail server is MDaemon Pro. I also notice that the email header could be corrupted. I checked the MDaemon KB and find nothing regarding this issue. but I also highly doubt that this is an MS Outlook 2007 issue. Anyone have any ideas? Putting this issue aside, I feel that we really should not attach emails to emails. There is a reason for the "Forward" button. I can't understand why is it so difficult for them to just forward that email instead of drag and drop one into the other using outlook. Furthermore, if the attached email also has its own attachments, the resulting nesting will be quite unbearable. Don't you think so?

• 1 iPhone, 2 (potentially 3) Macs......& Google Apps Sync?!

  Currently I use a beast of a G5 Mac at work for all my software/web development, an iMac G5 at home for personal use & a MacBook Pro for when i'm on the go. At work we make heavy use of all the Google Apps features such as calendar & docs etc. We all have an address book (local mac application) that gets synced with a list of contacts stored on our mail server. I want to be able to integrate the Google Apps calendar with my iPhone calendar (or even just iCal - which i can then sync to the iPhone). Essentially I want all three Macs to have the Google calendar synced to their version of iCal including the iPhone. I've heard that Google Sync handles something along these lines but i'm unsure if it's going to fulfill my needs? I'm trying my best to avoid having to use MobileMe.....   In the Outbound Rules, I set up a rule to allow outbound connection from port 26. But, it doesn't work. However, if I allow "all port" for this rule, this will work, but then all ports will be allowed too. What is the reason? Is there any conflicting rule? I need to fix this as soon as possible. -Edit to add : I'm trying to allow email access to mail server outside (port 26). The thing is, even if I telnet using port 26, it will not work, unless I allow "all ports". Specific port will not do.

• mailman not relaying email to external address

  I have a setup of mailman with postfix on an ubuntu server 12.04. My problem is that mailing list emails are not forwarded to email addresses external to my institution. However the initial welcome email is received by everyone, internally and externally. in fact, a simple email from command line with mail is successfully sent to anyone after that, mailing list emails are only forwarded to internal addresses. the domain name I'm using for the server is not that of my institution who is hosting the server.   Hi, I'm moving a web site from one server to another, and am realizing that I need to move the name servers for the domain as well (they are set to the current host, not to the registrar). So, knowing that email services will stop as soon as I switch the DNS, I'm scrambling to figure out how to archive and make available email data for folks that have mostly been using webmail for the past few years, and may not even have a computer on which to install a client to download the mail to. • Network connectivity issues with Windows Store

  I have my Windows 8 Pro build 9200 installed on my Dell laptop. I want to install some new apps and updates from the Store but there might be some network problem that caused the downloading gauge showing up but not really running at all. I followed some instructions that switched from local user to my Microsoft account, but this "Please wait" screen keeps showing and I don't really know why. I still have internet access and can use some apps like People, Mail, etc. with my account logged in, I can surf the net using Firefox, Chrome and Internet Explorer. I did another test using cmd with ping -t google.com and it showed that my laptop has internet access. Anybody knows a solution to make the Store working properly? Or is there any workaround to switch to the Microsoft account instead of a local user account?

• How can I get web pages from sub.a.com using url sub.b.com?

  I have developed www.mysite.com. This site can be "integrated" into my partners website. What I do is to create partner1.mysite.com and repalce my header and footer with my partners header and footer and replace some CSS styling. This should make it as transaprent as possible for the user, so that they think they are still browsing my partners website. There are two ways I see how I can accomplish this: 1. My partner uses an IFrame to show the content from partner1.mysite.com 2. My partner creates sub domain and points it to my sub domain. Solution 1 is easy, but I'm not sure how search engines likes this, so I will try solution 2. QUESTION Can I use mysite.partner1.com but read content from partner1.mysite.com? I don't want to forward / redirect users to partner1.mysite.com. It's important that the URL is mysite.partner1.com / mysite.partner1.com/some/page. Is this possible?
