  • Ask Field formatting

    I am using ASK fields in a word document, wherein the user are prompted with questions and the document is then built with the answers that the user type in. My question is that word does not allow more that 200 characters in the prompt box wherein the user types in the questions. Is there a way I can increase its maxlength. Also I want to change the font color of the question asked in the prompt box. Is it possible?

  • How can I communicate between Windows 8 and WP8 apps using ssl?

    I'm considering using either raw notifications (WNS) or sockets for communication between a Windows 8 and WP8 app. I've found some samples for using sockets but my question[s] here are: does WP8 support sending/receiving messages over ssl and, if so, how is it done? Something I need to be true or find a workaround for is that the Windows 8 app has a permanent IPAddress to which the phone app will send its updates. Typically, a tablet will be running Windows 8 app, always listening for incoming messages; the phone app will periodically send messages.

  • Is SharePoint a good solution for me?

    My company has many branches that use the same software suite that we've written for them. We're looking at SharePoint as a way to open a dialog with them about the software - reviews, change requests (not official ones, just for us to get an idea and for them to discuss amongst themselves what would be helpful). We would also like to utilize the document repository feature and possibly the blog. SharePoint is already available to us if we'd like to use it so that's why we're looking into it. I've done a lot of research and watched a lot of starter tutorials. It seems like it has what we're looking for. For those of you that know it well: Do you think it would be a good solution for us? Do you think it would be overkill? If so, Do you have an alternative suggestion? Are there other aspects of SharePoint that I haven't discovered yet that seems like it would be helpful for what we're doing? I will continue to research online but it's always great to hear the opinion of someone experienced with the product. Thanks so much! Pam

I can get validation errors automatically for Name,Email,Message using public string this[string propName]. How can i show validation errors if Attachment.FileSize 10000? If i write its code in public string this[string propName] i alwasy getting Attachment null. How can i fill Attachment Object of ContactEmail so that i can manage all errors on same place?

  • Trying to use the "Use Specific Printer" option in Access 2007

    I am trying to set a report to use a specific printer. I go into design mode, click on the page setup ribbon, click the page setup bottun, go into the page tabt, click the option to choose a specific printer, and then click the printer button to choose the printer I want to use. I save the steps and exit out of the report, but it still goes back and prints from the default printer. Why? I had no problems with this feature in 2003, why am I having problems in 2007. Any suggestions on how to fix this problem would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

  • copying files from one windows server to another

    I have to copy a file from a windows 2008 server to one or more windows 2008 servers. I have accounts on the target machines with enough privileges to let me use powershell remoting and use wmi. The remote machines do not run ftp, ssh or similar file transfer mechanisms. I am not allowed to install software or run new services on the target server. I can run services on the source server. The file copy action must be initiated from the source server. i.e. I cannot manually logon to the target machines and initiate the copy - though an automated way to do this is acceptable. Is it possible to use WMI or PowerShell Remoting to push or pull the file from the source to the target ? Is it possible to invoke some sort of built in http client or invoke the BITS service/agent on the remote servers to pull files from the source server ? Other suggestions please.

  • Why have private fields in data contracts modified through public ones?

    When you make a new WCF project, sample service is generated for you. The default data contract is (I've just changed the string type field title): [DataContract] public class CompositeType { bool boolValue = true; string name = ""; [DataMember] public bool BoolValue { get { return boolValue; } set { boolValue = value; } } [DataMember] public string Name { get { return name; } set { name = value; } } } What is the point of having those private fields boolValue and name? Is it a good practice writing some data sanitizing or some other manipulations in contract, thus bloating it? It seems the only sane reason for me not writing to fields directly. So is it a bloatware or it has some reason behind it?

  • Doubly linked lists

    I have an assignment that I am terribly lost on involving doubly linked lists (note, we are supposed to create it from scratch, not using built-in API's). The program is supposed to keep track of credit cards basically. My professor wants us to use doubly-linked lists to accomplish this. The problem is, the book does not go into detail on the subject (doesn't even show pseudo code involving doubly linked lists), it merely describes what a doubly linked list is and then talks with pictures and no code in a small paragraph. But anyway, I'm done complaining. I understand perfectly well how to create a node class and how it works. The problem is how do I use the nodes to create the list?   • Model binding broke after upgrade to Visual Studio 2010

    I have an ASP.net MVC 1.0 VS2008 application that I just opened in Visual Studio 2010. When I did this Studio upgraded the app from VS2008 to the VS2010 project. It also upgraded the MVC references from 1.0 to 2.0. In my app I have a class for a form post, I then use the class for the model binding in the Action method so it will auto populate the values. This worked fine in mvc 1.0 but now it does not work in 2.0 after the upgrade. Does does anyone know why? Or where I should look to resolve this? My question is, how (if at all) can Python compliment the skills of a typical C# developer working mainly with MS technologies on a Windows Platform.     I have created a native application. It works without questions under Win XP and Win Vista. Under Win 7 my application installed fine. I ran it. It worked normally until i selected 'Exit' from menu. On exit "Program Compatibility Assistant" window appeared telling me my application is incompatible with Windows 7 and some compatibility settings was applied.
