    I have the Windows Phone 7.1 SDK on my computer with Visual Studio 2010 Ultimate. I have developped an application but when I want to start it in emulator, it takes about 2 hours to load it, and it's just the O/S! The application isn't started!   • I want to transfer what I see on iPad app to the PC, is there a way?

    I have an iPad app that shows some good picture, and I want to transfer some pictures to the PC so I can send them by email to other people. Is there a way to capture the screen and save it as PNG or JPG? Otherwise, is the only way to install an iPad SDK (software development kit) so that you have a virtual iPad on the computer and run the app, and then use screen capture program on the PC to do the capture?

    How do you forcibly uninstall Eclipse 3.5 plugins without using Eclipse? I made the mistake of installing Google's Android SDK, and now when I try to check for updates via the "Check For Updates" or "Install New Software", some Android process runs, consumes all my CPU, takes up 3 gigs of memory, and crashes Eclipse. I can't even get to the uninstall dialog before Google's plugin kills everything.

    To facilitate automation of guest VM provisioning, how do I set (in a script) the IP address on a guest VM's NIC (or NIC's) once a new VM has booted? Is there a way to "inject" netsh commands via the Citrix guest OS tools (for Windows for example) once the host has started? Or can this be done via the Citrix API/SDK or the xe tools? These are windows 2008 servers that have been sysprep'd so when the boot for the first time they have no IP address.

    I have an SDK that must install 32-bit and 64-bit files in the correct places under /usr/lib for a variety of Linux distributions. For example, it appears that for Fedora, /usr/lib64 is the 64bit lib, but for Debian based systems, /usr/lib is the 64bit directory. I want to find out if there is a reliable way to determine the correct locations. More specifically, is there a way an install script can determine programmatically which are the correct equivalents for /usr/lib for 32- and 64-bit libraries on a given distribution?

  • Heading out to Dallas GiveCamp 2011

    The day has finally arrived for twelve local charities here in the Dallas area, when they’ll get some help from various local Developers with their website initiative needs at this years Dallas GiveCamp. I’m really looking forward to helping out at this year event and what I hope will be the start of many more GiveCamps to follow. Similar to Habitat for Humanity, where people gather to help build and improve homes for people in need, GiveCamp brings together programmers and equips them with the virtual tools they need to build and improve their existing websites. Tonight is when things will kickoff for this weekends events and teams will start working on their various projects. The building continues on through the night then and all the way through until Sunday afternoon. The end goal for the teams and charities is to have a completed and working website for each charity to begin using and turn over all the production code and digital assets to them. None of this would be possible with out the great sponsors we have returning once again and their donations of various products to help these charities out with their projects, like Telerik's CMS product Sitefinity 4.0, paired with a year of hosting from Verio to mention just a few of them. Just like the skilled builders who might help train volunteers in the use of a nail gun in building a house. Training is also available here on site for the Developers and these local Charities. Giving them all the skills in how to manage and use these products, from site development and then into actual production is a key to the success of this weekends event.     Tonight's training sessions will kick off with a real treat from Giovanni Gallucci, as he speaks about Social Media for NPOs and then later Gabe Sumner from Telerik will begin a training session on Sitefinity for Developers. These training sessions will continue through out the weekend with .Net Nuke and Mojo Portal sessions also planned as well. If you’re a developer and would like to help out in the future, then check in your area and with your local User Groups to find out if you already have a GiveCamp near you to help out. About GiveCamp GiveCamp is a weekend-long event where software developers, designers, and database administrators donate their time to create custom software for non-profit organizations. This custom software could be a new website for the nonprofit organization, a small data-collection application to keep track of members, or a application for the Red Cross that automatically emails a blood donor three months after they’ve donated blood to remind them that they are now eligible to donate again. The only limitation is that the project should be scoped to be able to be completed in a weekend. During GiveCamp, developers are welcome to go home in the evenings or camp out all weekend long. There are usually food and drink provided at the event. There are sometimes even game systems set up for when you and your need a little break! Overall, it’s a great opportunity for people to work together, developing new friendships, and doing something important for their community. I'm using the properties-maven-plugin, but its not working as i want it to.   • Maven: compile aspectj project containing Java 1.6 source

    What I want to do is fairly easy. Or so you would think. However, nothing is working properly. Requirement: Using maven, compile Java 1.6 project using AspectJ compiler. Note: Our code cannot compile with javac. That is, it fails compilation if aspects are not woven in (because we have aspects that soften exceptions). Questions (based on failed attempts below): Either 1) How do you get maven to run the aspectj:compile goal directly, without ever running compile:compile? 2) How do you specify a custom compilerId that points to your own ajc compiler? Thanks for any and all suggestions. These are the things I've tried that have let to my problem/questions: Attempt 1 (fail): Specify aspectJ as the compiler for the maven-compiler-plugin: org.apache.maven.plugins maven-compiler-plugin 2.2 1.6 1.6 aspectj org.codehaus.plexus plexus-compiler-aspectj 1.8 This fails with the error: org.codehaus.plexus.compiler.CompilerException: The source version was not recognized: 1.6 No matter what version of the plexus compiler I use (1.8, 1.6, 1.3, etc), this doesn't work. I actually read through the source code and found that this compiler does not like source code above Java 1.5. Attempt 2 (fail): Use the aspectJ-maven-plugin attached to the compile and test-compile goals: org.codehaus.mojo aspectj-maven-plugin 1.3 1.6 1.6 compile test-compile This fails when running either: mvn clean test-compile mvn clean compile because it attempts to execute compile:compile before running aspectj:compile. As noted above, our code doesn't compile with javac--the aspects are required. So mvn would need to skip the compile:compile goal altogether and run only aspectj:compile. Attempt 3 (works but unnacceptable): Use the same configuration above but instead run: mvn clean aspectj:compile This works, in that it builds successfully but it's unacceptable in that we need to be able to run the compile goal and the test-compile goal directly (m2eclipse auto-build depends on those goals). Moreover, running it this way would require that we spell out every goal we want along the way (for instance, we need resources distributed and tests to be run and test resources deployed, etc)

  • Retrieve property from classpath inside POM

    For my current project I want to integrate a maven plug-in for database migrations. For this plug-in to work, however, I have to obtain the database settings inside my POM. My database settings are currently placed inside a hibernate.properties file, positioned in a directory that is marked as maven resource. For a variety of reasons I do not want to duplicate my database configurations in both the pom and hibernate.properties. I'm aware that maven offers a "filtering" ability which makes it possible to specify the database settings as property inside my POM, and reference them inside my hibernate.properties as ${property_name}. But as I'm using multiple maven profiles, with different property resources, this is not a suitable solution. Instead I'd like my database configurations to be loaded from a property file inside my classpath (e.g. classpath:hibernate.properties), and use these properties in my migration plug-in configuration. I have already tried the org.codehaus.mojo » properties-maven-plugin, but this plug-in only accepts absolute locations. Is there a plug-in which can scan all my maven resources for a certain property?

  • Reporting Services: Tablix RepeatColumnHeaders doesn't work on some reports

    So I've got various reports that consist of a DataSet rendered in a Tablix... pretty garden variety stuff. There is a property for the Tablix control named RepeatColumnHeaders, which I have set to True for each report in question. The explanation for this property states “Indicates whether column headers are repeated on each page on which part of the data region appear.” Sounds pretty straightforward, but on some reports it works and on others it does not. I can't seem to find what's different about the reports that might affect this. On one report where the headers do repeat, there is some fairly arcane grouping mojo, but in an example where it doesn't work the Tablix only has one level--no grouping. I would expect the multi-nested one to be the problem, not the flat one. Maybe it's a different problem altogether. I threw together a simple Tablix rendering SELECT * FROM Foo, accepted all the default values, which results in RepeatColumnHeaders being set to False, and lo and behold the column headers do repeat for that report... Grrr. Any insights greatly appreciated.

    I have an <exec-maven-plugin> which calls an external command (in this case, svnversion). The command is in the path for the current user. However, when a separate shell is spawned by the plugin, the path is not initialized. I don't want to hardcode or define a variable for each external command (there would be too much to maintain, especially that there are both Windows and *nix users).     I'm developing a Maven 3 plugin and I want to exclude some dependencies, and their transitive dependencies, when a configuration is set to true in the plugin. I don't want to use <exclusions> in the POM itself, even in a profile. I want to exclude those dependencies programatically. In fact, what I want is to prevent the dependency jars to be included in the final war (I'm building a war), when a plugin configuration is set to true. What is the best way to programatically remove some dependencies, and their transitive dependencies, from being included in a final .jar/.war?

    After hours and hours trying to do this, I need your help. I have to models : Project and Task. A project hasMany tasks and a task belong to a project. Everyting works well if you don't use a store to save these models. I want to save both tasks and projects in two stores (TaskStore and ProjectStore). These stores use a LocalStorage proxy.   • How do I execute a program using Maven?

    I would like to have a Maven goal trigger the execution of a java class. I'm trying to migrate over a Makefile with the lines: neotest: mvn exec:java -Dexec.mainClass="org.dhappy.test.NeoTraverse" And I would like mvn neotest to produce what make neotest does currently. Neither the exec plugin documentation nor the Maven Ant tasks pages had any sort of straightforward example. Currently, I'm at: <plugin> <groupId>org.codehaus.mojo</groupId> <artifactId>exec-maven-plugin</artifactId> <version>1.1</version> <executions><execution> <goals><goal>java</goal></goals> </execution></executions> <configuration> <mainClass>org.dhappy.test.NeoTraverse</mainClass> </configuration> </plugin> I don't know how to trigger the plugin from the command line, though.

  • Application running in the iPad Simulator

    I've got some code running in the iPad Simulator.  One thing I discovered is that an application has to be compiled against a specific version of the SDK.  When I created a new iPad application, the updated iPad window for the Interface Builder became availble.  Very nice indeed.  Everything was the same as before, so that was good.  I fired up the iPad Simulator, and I got this below:   The next step was getting my app on there, which was easy.  Then I got my app running on the simulator, and I saw this: Basically, everything is filled with goodness and seems to be running correctly.  **fingers crossed**
