• OS monitoring using JAVA

  I'm planning to implement a framework for monitoring OS level resources: process network stats cpu info etc using JAVA. I see there is SIGAR API by Spring, which is implemented in native language and JAVA API being provided on top. But I will prefer not to have native stuff in my framework, rather for each OS will write a Java Class which will fetch required OS info by running system commands via JAVA Runtime. So I would like to have inputs/suggestions that one may have seen of not doing this in JAVA and use native app/api/jni. Any example will help for sure. I agree each OS has different commands to get these stats, but will prefer to have a Java Class per OS than have/load native code.

  Duplicate: Random string that matches a regexp No, it isn't. I'm looking for an easy and universal method, one that I could actually implement. That's far more difficult than randomly generating passwords. I want to create an application that takes a regular expression, and shows 10 randomly generated strings that match that expression. It's supposed to help people better understand their regexps, and to decide i.e. if they're secure enough for validation purposes. Does anyone know of an easy way to do that? One obvious solution would be to write (or steal) a regexp parser, but that seems really over my head. I repeat, I'm looking for an easy and universal way to do that. Edit: Brute force approach is out of the question. Assuming the random strings would just be [a-z0-9]{10} and 1 million iterations per second, it would take 65 years to iterate trough the space of all 10-char strings.

  Hello, Our application (C#/.NET) needs a lot of queries to search. Google's 50,000 policy per day is not enough. We need something that would crawl Internet websites by specific rules we set (for ex. country domains) and gather URLs, Texts, keywords, name of websites and create our own internal catalogue so we wouldn't be limited to any massive external search engine like Google or Yahoo. Is there any free open source solution we could use to install it on our server? No point in re-inventing the wheel.

  I have a grid layout that holds a limited 6 items per screen. This set number is just a base for the app and make it look and feel better so it must stay set to that. To get passed this and to add some flash to the app, I want to animate a style of screen change. For instance, when a finger is dragged left, push the current view to the side and bring the next it, very similar to how a gallery does it, except I would like it to be able to scroll vertical as well. • MySQL: Order by time (MM:SS)?

  I'm currently storing various metadata about videos and one of those bits of data is the length of a video. So if a video is 10 minutes 35 seconds long, it's saved as "10:35" in the database. But what I'd like to do is retrieve a listing of videos by length (longest first, shortest last). The problem I'm having is that if a video is "2:56", it's coming up as longest because the number 2 is more than the number 1 in. So, how can I order data based on that length field so that "10:35" is recognized as being longer than "2:56" (as per my example)?

  Hey guys, I have a program that allows me to run queries against a large database. I have two tables that are important right now, Deposits and withdraws. Each contains a history of every user. I need to take each table, add up every deposit and withdraws (per user), then subtract the withdraws from the deposits. I then need to return every user whos result is negative (aka they withdrew more then they deposited). Is this possible in one query? Example: Deposit Table: |ID|UserName|Amount| |1 | Use1 |100.00| |2 | Use1 |50.00 | |3 | Use2 |25.00 | |4 | Use1 | 5.00 | WithDraw Table: |ID|UserName|Amount| |2 | Use2 | 5.00 | |1 | Use1 |100.00| |4 | Use1 | 5.00 | |3 | Use2 |25.00 | So then the result would output: |OverWithdrawers| | Use2 | Is this possible (I sure don't know how to do it)? • Export a MYSQL column to a plain txt file with no headings

  So what I'm trying to do is write a script or CRON job (Linux- CentOS) to export the usernames listed in my wordpress database to a simple .txt file with just on username per line. So with the picture, I would like the .txt file to read like this: Sir_Fluffulus NunjaX007 (Except with all the username in the user_login column.) See screenshot at: http://i.stack.imgur.com/lZQai.png I have found how to export the entire table to a CVS file, but that contains about 10+ fields (Columns) that I DO NOT what to show up in this text file. Can anyone point me in the right direction on how to do this? If it helps, this is going to be for exporting users that have signed up on our website (Wordpress) to a whitelist.txt file for Minecraft. Thanks!

• Automatically Add a Prefix to Column Names for @Embeddable Classes

  I am developing a project in which I am persisting some POJOs by adding Hibernate annotations. One problem I am running into is that code like this fails, as Hibernate tries to map the sub-fields within the Time_T onto the same column (i.e. startTime.sec and stopTime.sec both try to map to the colum sec, causing an error). @Entity public class ExampleClass { @Id long eventId; Time_T startTime; Time_T stopTime; } @Embeddable public class Time_T { int sec; int nsec; } As there will be many occurrences like this throughout the system, it would be nice if there was an option to automatically append a prefix to the column name (e.g. make the columns be startTime_sec, startTime_nsec, stopTime_sec, stopTime_nsec), without having to apply overrides on a per-field basis. Does Hibernate have this capability, or is there any other reasonable work-around?

• How to get total number of potential results in Lucene

  I'm using lucene on a site of mine and I want to show the total result count from a query, for example: Showing results x to y of z But I can't find any method which will return me the total number of potential results. I can only seem to find methods which you have to specify the number of results you want, and since I only want 10 per page it seems logical to pass in 10 as the number of results. Or am I doing this wrong, should I be passing in say 1000 and then just taking the 10 in the range that I require?

  We need management 10,000 GPS devices, each GPS device upload a GPS data every 30 seconds, these data need to store in the database(MS SQL Server 2005). Each GPS device daily data quantity is: 24 * 60 * 2 = 2,880 10 000 10,000 GPS devices daily data quantity is: 10000 * 2880 = 28,800,000 Each GPS data approximately 160Byte, the amount of data per day is: 28,800,000 * 160 = 4.29GB We need hold at least 3 months of GPS data in the database, My question is: 1, whether SQL Server 2005 can support such a large amount of data store? 2, How to plan data table? (all GPS data storage in one table? Daily table? Each GPS device with a GPS data table?) • Re-ordering C++ template functions

  In C++, I have a certain template function that, on a given condition, calls a template function in another class. The trouble is that the other class requires the full definition of the first class to be implemented, as it creates the second class and stores them and manages them in similar fashions. The trouble is that naturally, they fall as one class, and thus have some tight interop, except that I need them to be two classes for threading reasons. A sort of, master for all threads, one child per thread, system. Any advice on how this can be implemented?

• Can VBScript determine the most recently modified (or added) file in a particular folder?

  Hello, I have a script (or more accurately WILL have a script) that checks a folder and copies a file from this folder to a different location (will run once per day). The fileName that I'd like to copy from, however, changes based on the date. Basically, instead of setting the "strFilePath" to "C:\somePath\somePath2\myFile.txt" I would like to simply take the most recently modified (or added - does this make a difference in terms of the script??) in the "somePath2" folder and copy it to the destination. Bonus (but not completely necessary) would be to check in the script if the file was modified/added in the last 24 hours and only copy it over in that case. Thanks for your help!

  I'm all about performance these days cause I'm developing my first game engine. I'm no c++ expert but after some research I discovered the importance of the cache and the memory alignment. Basically what I found is that it is recommended to have memory well aligned specially if you need to access them together, for example in a loop. Now, In my project I'm doing my Game Object Manager, and I was thinking to have an array of GameObjects references. meaning I would have the actual memory of my objects one after the other. static const size_t MaxNumberGameObjects = 20; GameObject mGameObjects[MaxNumberGameObjects]; But, as I will be having a list of components per object -Component based design- (Mesh, RigidBody, Transformation, etc), will I be gaining something with the array at all? Anyway, I have seen some people just using a simple std::map for storing game objects. So what do you guys think? Am I better off using a pure component model?

  I am trying to make C# launch an application (in this case open office), and start sending that application keypresses such that it would appear as though someone is typing. So ideally, I would be able to send a running open office process the keypress for the letter "d", and open office would then type d on the paper. Can anyone give me direction as per how to go about this?   Ok what im trying to do is a kind of audio processing software that can detect a prevalent frequency an if the frequency is played for long enough (few ms) i know i got a positive match. i know i would need to use FFT or something simiral but in this field of math i suck, i did search the internet but didn not find a code that could do only this. the goal im trying to accieve is to make myself a custom protocol to send data trough sound, need very low bitrate per sec but im also very limited on the transmiting end so the recieving software will need to be able custom (cant use an actual hardware/software modem) also i want this to be software only (no additional hardware except soundcard) thanks alot for the help.

• How to delete a Dictionary row that is a Double by using an Int?

  Hi, I have a Dictionary object that is formed using a double as its key values. It looks like this: Dictionary<double, ClassName> VariableName = new Dictionary<double, ClassName>(); For my project I have to have the key as the double as I require values like 1.1,1.2,2.1,2.2,etc in my system. Everything in my system works great except when I want to delete all the keys in a group eg all the 1 values would be 1.1,1.2, etc. I can delete rows if I know the full value of the key eg 1.1 but in my system I will only know the whole number. I tried to do the following but get an error: DictionaryVariable.Remove(j => Convert.ToInt16(j.Key) == rowToEdit).OrderByDescending(j => j.Key); Is there anyway to remove all rows per int value by converting the key?   Hi folks, I wish to add some type of business logic constraint to a table, but not sure how / where. I have a table with the following fields. ID INTEGER IDENTITY HubId INTEGER CategoryId INTEGER IsFeatured BIT Foo NVARCHAR(200) etc. So what i wish is that you can only have one featured thingy, per articleId + hubId. eg. 1, 1, 1, 1, 'blah' -- Ok. 2, 1, 2, 1, 'more blah' -- Also Ok 3, 1, 1, 1, 'aaa' -- constraint error 4, 1, 1, 0, 'asdasdad' -- Ok. 5, 1, 1, 0, 'bbbb' -- Ok. etc. so the third row to be inserterd would fail because that hub AND category already have a featured thingy. Is this possible?

• Determining if an offset is in between line numbers?

  hi I need to determine if a given selection is in between a start line and an end line. I have an ILineRange and a given offset within the viewport of eclipse. (I need to know, if the selection (from a remote party) was made within the current viewport of the local user. Unfortunately, I cannot get an LineRange from the selection. I must rely on getOffset() and getLength()... Anyone has an idea? I think there is not a clean solution for this, as the offset (or the characters per line vary (new line lines or a big block of comment).

• MS VC++ 6 class wizard

  Ok, I'm developing an application that has been in pretty much continous development over the last 16 years, from C in DOS, through various flavours of C++ and now is largely based around C++ with MFC and StingRay GUIs and various other SDKs. While I use VS 2005 for the release builds, I still use MSVC 6 for much of the GUI building, simply because ClassWizard is so much quicker in this environment than the weak equivalent tools that followed. Note that I am using ClassWizard to automatically generate code for my own user defined types (see Custom DDXs) and I like to add a lot of member variables and methods in one go. Creating them one at a time as per later versions of Visual Studio for me is a big backward step. At the same time, working with multiple IDEs is also a pain. My question is in two parts; Is there any way of getting ClassWizard to work is VS 2005 or VS 2008? Is there any drop in replacement, or alternative IDE, that provides similar levels of productivty for old C++ hacks such as myself?

  I managed to get ASP.NET to work in Apache, as per http://weblogs.asp.net/israelio/archive/2005/09/11/424852.aspx but I'm unsure how to get it to rewrite pages, with a web.config file. I've tried using Google endlessly, but came to nothing. What's the best solution for me to rename my pages, e.g. mytestpage.aspx to mytestpage.htm Also, anyone know how to get IIS and MySQL working? I've tried but I'm struggling to get it to work. I did this simply because I needed multiple sites on port 80 on localhost, and the website I'm developing is not suited to PHP. IIS is installed, but not being used at the moment. Thanks

• Vim: How to handle newlines when storing multiple commands in registers?

  I have a file where I store snippets of vim commands. When I need a snippet, I yank it and then execute it with @". The snippets are stored as a script, one line per command, like this: :s/foo/bar/g :echo "hello" :s/1/2/g Edit: I removed normal mode commands from the example, as they were not part of the problem. Now this procedure doesn't work anymore: when executing the snippet, it just stops at the first line as if waiting for a newline. Is there an option somewhere affecting how @ is executed? I'm pretty sure it was working some time ago... Substituting the newline with a ^M character works but makes the file more difficult to handle. Additional information: Here's another symptom: when I yank a snippet, if I execute it with @" it stops at the first line as I just explained. But if I execute it with :@ it works. But the help file doesn't seem to imply any difference in how the two commands treat the register's content...

I'm looking for a HTML editor which can be integrated in a C# app that has the possibility to create forms. Not forms per se, but I need the possibility to add radiobuttons, input fields, checkboxes and so on. There are many editors that provide Richt text (bold, italic, indentation and so on) but what I need goes a bit further, so help is appreciated. Thanks!
