    In gmail can we make is:unread the default view? That is, when we load gmail can we configure it so that is:unread is already selected, thereby showing only unread messages by default? Or can we at least configure gmail so that it has a 1 click link that only shows unread mail? The reason for this of course is that it is slow and inefficient to have to type is:unread into the gmail search every time I open it. It would be much more convenient for gmail to load this view by itself when I open gmail.

  • Juju Openstack bundle: Can't launch an instance

    Deployed bundle:~makyo/openstack/2/openstack, on top of 7 physical boxes and 3 virtual ones. After changing vip_iface strings to point to right devices, e.g., br0 instead of eth0, and defining "/mnt/loopback|30G", in Cinder's block-device string, am able to navigate through openstack dashboard, error free. Following http://docs.openstack.org/grizzly/openstack-compute/install/apt/content/running-an-instance.html instructions, attempted to launch cirros 0.3.1 image; however, novalist shows the instance in   • Google Fonts API JSON Data in WordPress Options-Framework-Theme

    I'm developing a child-theme off of the new Twenty Twelve theme using Wordpress 3.4.2 and the development version of the Options Theme Framework by Devin Price. In Devin's tutorial, it shows of a way to implement 15 Google Web Fonts into the Theme Options page, but not all of them (roughly 560). I know I can create a "manual list", like in the tutorial that states each one with fallbacks, but this is time consuming and unproductive as Google may or may not add to, update, change or remove some of these fonts from their list. The list I've created above will ultimately store unavailable fonts the user thinks is there because of what they can see in the drop-down menu and it won't have any new ones - making the list and some selections obsolete. On the Google Developer API Web Fonts page, it talks briefly on retrieving a "dynamic list" using JSON/JavaScript. I was wondering how would I be able to pull the Google Web Fonts API into my Wordpress Theme Options page so I'm not creating my own list or have to constantly release an update to solve this issue. Could someone please walk me through what I would need to paste into my options.php, functions.php, /inc/options-framework.php file etc. or even in a new one to implement this? I've also had a look into some screencasts, plugins and tutorials on how it works, but none of them are specific enough for people just starting out. Please keep in mind I'm not the best coder...     I have a problem with a CMS website, that normally generates readable urls. Sometimes it happens that navigation links are shown as www.domain.com/22, which results in an error, instead of www.domain.com/contact. I have not found a solution for this yet, but the page is working if the url is www.domain.com/index.php?id=22. Therefore, I'm trying to rewrite www.domain.com/22 to www.domain.com/index.php?id=22 and I have used this rewrite rule: RewriteRule ^([1-9][0-9]*)$ index.php?id=$1 [NC] I tested it using http://htaccess.madewithlove.be and here it shows the correct result, but on the website no rewrite is happening.

The system gets utterly slow after a usage of around 2-3 months and then these errors crop up and i have to reinstall my windows to keep away these errors. But this time,its been only a week and the blue screen has come up 3 times. What can be the actual cause of the error?? Mine is an assembled machine, its a core 2duo with gigabyte motherboard and a 1 gb ram, 160 gb seagate hdd. please help me its a seriously annoying problem.   • How tot track which program causes my harddrive to spin up

    I have a strange problem: Every half hour one of my hard disks gets powered on again. I recognize this by the sound of a hard disk spinning up. So far I was not able to track which program could cause this. I ran Process Monitor to see whether there is an I/O peak coinciding with the spin-up. I checked Windows event viewer if there is an appropriate event at the same time Any ideas other than the usual disabling-services/programs etc. (which would be my next investigation step)? Also, it would be helpful to have a program that shows the current power status of all my drives, if there is one. Harddisk Sentinel unfortunately cannot do the job because it powers on all drives upon start and prevents their going into sleep mode. Thanks in advance. :)

  • Force Windows 7 to pin a file with no extension to the Jump List for Notepad

    I want to add the "C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts" file to the Jump List for notepad.exe on a Windows 7 machine, but since the file does not have an extension there is no default program associated with it. This means it never shows up in the recent list and you also cannot drag it to the task bar to manually pin it to the start list. I've had problems with jump lists before, and there are ways to use the Registry or File system to change how Jump Lists work, but I haven't seen anything to manually edit a jump list yet. Is there any way to force an item to be pinned to the jump list when that item does not have a program associated with it?

    When attempting to ./configure PHP 5.3.3 on Ubuntu 8.04, I get the error: checking for libevent >= 1.4.11 install prefix... configure: error: Could not find libevent >= 1.4.11 in /usr/local/ I tried installing the libevent-dev and libevent1 packages, but same error. I then removed the packages, downloaded and compiled libevent from source. Same error. Locate shows that libevent was installed to /usr/local/lib/libevent.so with all its friends in /usr/local/lib/. I tried configuring with the option: --with-libevent-dir=/usr/local/lib/ Basically the same error: checking for libevent >= 1.4.11 install prefix... configure: error: Could not find libevent >= 1.4.11 in /usr/local/lib/ Any suggestions??

Omar lives in Kanpur, a suburban in Uttar Pradesh with parents and a younger brother. He attended school even when the area where he lives was once flooded, had high temperature. When flooded and motor vehicles were not able to run on the streets he loaned a bicycle from neighbors. When he was on high temperature he just popped a tablet and headed towards the school.  Whatever may be the adverse situation, he just found a way to attend school instead of bunking. He recently applied for Guinness Book of World Records. The determination of the boy is incredible and inspiration to many young.   • MediaShield RAID 5 is showing up as 760GB when the actual size is 2.7TB

    I just finished setting up Windows 2003 Server on my new server. And I started setting up a RAID 5 for it. I have 4x1TB Hard Drives. From MediaSheild RAID Utility (at boot time) the RAID size is displayed as 2.7TB. Linux also shows it as 2.7TB. However, in Windows, everything (including Windows Disk Management as well as Windows based MediaShield utility) is reporting only 760Gb. I already tried converting partitioning table to GUID from MBR, because I read somewhere that Windows can only handle up to 2TB MBR tables, that didn't help much. Tried searching for partitioning utilities that I could use, but couldn't find anything free. Formatted the disk as NTFS partition from within Linux, it stop showing in Windows all together, even MediaShield windows utility isn't showing at anymore. Windows is installed on a separate 500Gb hard drive, that's setup not to support RAID. Any ideas?

    I need to save session data for a dynamic web page script by writing to file. I have two questions: Are there any security preferences as to whether to save the data UNDER the web folder, or OUTSIDE the web folder? I attempted to write to the folder an (unsuprisingly), I had a 'file permission refused' type error. Should I set the folder ownership to the apache user (600, 640 or 644?) [[Edit]] core <- 'OUTSIDE' web folder (php script live here) data <- 'OUTSIDE' web folder (session data and other misc data resides here) web <- web root folder js <- any folder below is 'INSIDE' the web folder css html For example, in a php script (i.e. a dynamic PHP page), I can attempt to write to a file using something like fput('../data',data) yet (as I understand it) ../data should not be accessible - for security reasons. Could someone please provide a simple example that shows how to provide access to ../data/ in the example given above?. What are the actual SPECIFIC steps required? BTW, I am running on a LAMP stack.

    Hello everybody. I have a folder (C:\temp) on a windows server 2008 R2 installation. Initially it has the Read Only attribute checked, but I want to uncheck it. I am able to uncheck it and it even shows me the loading process (it is showing me that it is going through all the subfolders), but after I press OK and I go back to properties, it still remains checked as Read Only.   • Winamp jump dialog

    In the most recent build of Winamp, either the Jump dialog has been ruined or there's some hidden "advanced" setting that i'm missing. The Jump dialog used to have a few options, like "Jump to file and play" "Jump to file without playing" "Queue file to start playing next, after this song finishes" But now it only shows (CANCEL) as the only button, and you can press enter on a file to start play. What happened to the JUMP & QUEUE feature? I want to jump to a file, but QUEUE it to be played next, not play it immediately.

  • How can I tell if ZFS (zfs-fuse) dedup/compression is applied to a particular file?

    I have a zfs formatted partition using zfs-fuse for linux (Ubuntu). I had used it for a while, and then enabled dedup and compression on it (zfs set compression=on/dedup=on). Now I think I have some files that are dedup'ed and compressed, and file that are not yet. It was OK, but sometimes I was confused. Let's see, following command would consume almost 4GB of my zfs storage: cp oldfile.4GB newfile.4GB .. and this would consume almost zero: cp newfile.4GB newfile.4GB.2 This is because the old file is not yet compressed, so dedup not happened, I think. My idea is -- if I can find old files that are not yet dedup/compressed, I can perform batch copy/rename/remove them to eliminate duplicity and redundancy. But how I can check that? I know I can re-copy whole contents of my storage should work (even better with checking the time stamp of each file), but I'd be happier if I have zfsstat-like tool that shows some file properties.

    The short story: Win7 lost track of my user folders location (desktop, my documents, my pictures etc...). They now reside on a different partition. How can I relink these folders? The long story: The way I partition my drives is: C: - SSD drive for Windows and Program Files D: - A large regular hard drive for all my user data The first thing I do after a fresh Win7 install is move my user folders to D:, by right clicking on these folders under C:\users\username\, choosing the Location tab and clicking on Move. I've just completed encryption of D: using TrueCrypt. It shows a lot of warnings before the encryption process, but (hrrmm...) it does not mention the fact that after encryption the data is located on a new drive letter, say E: This broke Win7's links to my special user folders. How can I relink these folders?

  • Order of operations to render VBO to FBO texture and then rendering FBO texture full quad

    I've just started using OpenGL with C# via the OpenTK library. I've managed to successfully render my game world using VBOs. I now want to create a pixellated affect by rendering the frame to an offscreen FBO with a size half of my GameWindow size and then render that FBO to a full screen quad. I've been looking at the OpenTK example here: http://www.opentk.com/doc/graphics/frame-buffer-objects ...but the result is a black form. I'm not sure which parts of the example code belongs in the OnLoad event and OnRenderFrame. Can someone please tell me if the below code shows the correct order of operations?   • How to dealing with the "programming blowhard"?

    (Repost, I posted this in the wrong section before, sorry) So I'm sure everyone has run into this person at one point or another, someone catches wind of your project or idea and initially shows some interest. You get to talking about some of your methods and usually around this time they interject stating how you should use method X instead, or just use library Y. But not as a friendly suggestion, but bordering on a commandment. Often repeating the same advice over and over like a overzealous parrot. Personally, I like to reinvent the wheel when I'm learning, or even just for fun, even if it turns out worse than what's been done before. But this person apparently cannot fathom recreating ANY utility for such purposes, or possibly try something that doesn't strictly follow traditional OOP practices, and will settle for nothing except their sense of perfection, and thus naturally heave their criticism sludge down my ears full force. To top it off, they eventually start justifying their advice (retardation) by listing all the incredibly complex things they've coded single-handedly (usually along the lines of "trust me, I've made/used program X for a long time, blah blah blah"). Now, I'm far from being a programming master, I'm probably not even that good, and as such I value advice and critique, but I think advice/critique has a time and place. There is also a big difference between being helpful and being narcissistic. In the past I probably would have used a somewhat stronger George Carlin style dismissal, but I don't think burning bridges is the best approach anymore. Maybe I'm just an asshole, but do you have any advice on how to deal with this kind of verbal flogging?

  • Ubuntu 14.04 disk utility SMART self-test failed threshold not exceeded

    I'm using the "Disks" program in Ubuntu 14.04 (live DVD) to assess the health of a drive I suspect is failing. However, when I first opened the program, it showed that the overall health was OK and all assessments are OK as well. I then tried to run a short self-test, but now the overall assessment shows a red "SELF-TEST FAILED". In the details section it says "Last self-test failed (read)" and "threshold not exceeded". All individual assessments are still OK though!! What I don't understand is, does that mean that the test executed and determined that the drive is a goner, or does it mean that the test didn't actually execute properly?

  • Using Lighttpd: apache prox or direct connection?

    Hi, I'm optimizing a site by using lighttpd for the static media. I've found that a recommended solution is to use Apache Proxy to point to the lighttpd server. But, does that use up an Apache thread/process per request? In my setup, I've noticed that all my processes are used up, even though they aren't doing anything, CPU wise. To free up apache processes, I've configured lighttpd and the amount of processes needed is lowered significantly, Munin shows. However, I've set it up to connect directly to lighty, to prevent apache workers from server static media. My question is: when using Apache Proxy, does that also use up a process/worker?
