  • Extending Expression Blend 4 &amp; Blend for Visual Studio 2012

    - by Chris Skardon
Just getting this off the bat, I presume this will also work for Blend 5, but I can’t confirm it… Anyhews, I imagine you’re here because you want to know how to create an addin for Blend, so let’s jump right in there! First, and foremost, we’re going to need to ensure our development environment has the right setup, so the checklist: Visual Studio 2012 Blend for Visual Studio 2012 OK, let’s create a new project (class library, .NET 4.5): Hello.Extension The ‘.Extension’ bit is very very important. The addin will not work unless it is named in this way. You can put whatever you want at the front, but it has to have the extension bit. OK, so now we have a solution with one project. To this project we need to add references to the following things: Microsoft.Expression.Extensibility (from c:\program files\Microsoft Visual Studio 11.0\Blend\   -- x86 folder if you are on an x64 windows install) Microsoft.Expression.Framework (same location as above) PresentationCore PresentationFramework WindowsBase System.ComponentModel.Composition Got them? ACE. Let’s now add a project to contain our control, so, create a new WPF Application project, cunningly named something like ‘Hello.Control’… (I’m creating a WPF application here, because I’m too lazy to dig up the correct references, and this will add all the ones I need ) Once that is created, delete the App.xaml and MainWindow.xaml files, we won’t be needing them. You will also need to change the properties of the project itself, so it is only a class library. Once that is done, let’s add a new UserControl, which will be this: <UserControl x:Class="Hello.Control.HelloControl" xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml/presentation" xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml" xmlns:mc="http://schemas.openxmlformats.org/markup-compatibility/2006" xmlns:d="http://schemas.microsoft.com/expression/blend/2008" mc:Ignorable="d" d:DesignHeight="300" d:DesignWidth="300"> <Grid> <TextBlock Text="HELLO!!!"/> </Grid> </UserControl> Impressive eh? Now, let’s reference the WPF project from the Extension library. All that’s left now is to code up our extension… So, add a class to the Extension project (name wise doesn’t matter), and make it implement the IPackage interface from the Microsoft.Expression.Extensibility library: public class HelloExtension : IPackage { /**/ } We’ll implement the two methods we need to: public class HelloExtension : IPackage { public void Load(IServices services) { } public void Unload() { } } We’re only really concerned about the Load method in this case, as let’s face it, the extension we have doesn’t need to do a lot to bog off. The interesting thing about the Load method is that it receives an IServices instance. This allows us to get access to all the services that Expression provides, in this case we’re interested in one in particular, the ‘IWindowService’ So, let’s get that bad boy… private IWindowService _windowService; public void Load(IServices services) { _windowService = services.GetService<IWindowService>(); } Nailed it… But why? The WindowService allows us to register our UserControl with Blend, which in turn allows people to activate and see it, which is a big plus point. So, let’s do that… We’ll create an ‘Initialize’ method to create our new control, and add it to the WindowService: private HelloControl _helloControl; public void Initialize() { _helloControl = new HelloControl(); if (_windowService.PaletteRegistry["HelloPanel"] == null) _windowService.RegisterPalette("HelloPanel", _helloControl, "Hello Window"); } First we check that we’re not already registered, and if we’re not we register, the first argument is the identifier used by the service to, well, identify your extension. The second argument is the actual control, the third argument is the name that people will see in the ‘Windows’ menu of Blend itself (so important note here – don’t put anything embarrassing or (need I say it?) sweary…) There are only two things to do now - Call ‘Initialize()’ from our Load method, and Export the class This is easy money – add [Export(typeof(IPackage))] to the top of our class… The full code will (should) look like this: [Export(typeof (IPackage))] public class HelloExtension : IPackage { private HelloControl _helloControl; private IWindowService _windowService; public void Load(IServices services) { _windowService = services.GetService<IWindowService>(); Initialize(); } public void Unload() { } public void Initialize() { _helloControl = new HelloControl(); if (_windowService.PaletteRegistry["HelloControl"] == null) _windowService.RegisterPalette("HelloControl", _helloControl, "Hello Window"); } } If you build this and copy it to your ‘Extensions’ folder in Blend (c:\program files\microsoft visual studio 11.0\blend\) and start Blend, you should see ‘Hello Window’ listed in the Window menu: That as they say is it!

  • winForms Booking Class Help

    - by cameron
Hi, I am using C# Windows Forms in visual studio with different classes performing different functions in my program. I have a "Program" main class with the following information: static class Program { /// <summary> /// The main entry point for the application. /// </summary> [STAThread] static void Main() { Application.EnableVisualStyles(); Application.SetCompatibleTextRenderingDefault(false); Application.Run(new Form1()); } } and a Screen class with the following information class Screen { public List<Show> shows { get; private set; } public int ScreenNumber { get; private set; } public Screen(int screenNumber, params Show[] schedule) { this.ScreenNumber = screenNumber; this.shows = schedule.ToList<Show>(); } } and a Seat class with the following information public class Seat { private string name; public bool IsAvailable { get; set; } public decimal Price { get; private set; } public int Number { get; private set; } public Seat(bool isAvailable, int number) { this.IsAvailable = isAvailable; this.name = String.Format("Seat {0}",number); this.Price = 7.50m; this.Number = number; } public override string ToString() { return this.name; } } and finally a Show class with the following information public class Show { private List<Seat> seats = new List<Seat>(); public string Title { get; private set; } public string Time { get; private set; } public int ScreenNumber { get; private set; } public List<Seat> Seats { get { return this.seats; } } public Show(string title, DateTime time, int screenNumber, int numberOfSeats) { this.Title = title; this.Time = time.ToShortTimeString(); this.ScreenNumber = screenNumber; this.initSeats(numberOfSeats); } private void initSeats(int numberOfSeats) { for (int i = 0; i < numberOfSeats; i++) this.seats.Add(new Seat(true, i + 1)); } }` these all feed into two different winForms to create a booking system for shows. therefore i need to collate the data given in program and output it into a txt file. any help will be much appreciated NOTE: the code for FORM1 which allows the user to select which show they want is: namespace CindysSeats { public partial class Form1 : Form { private Cinema cinema = new Cinema(); //booked show could be added to booking object when you create it so that it is easily writable to the external file private Show selectedShow; public Form1() { InitializeComponent(); this.showList_dg.DataSource = this.cinema.GetShowList(); } private void showList_dg_RowHeaderMouseClick(object sender, DataGridViewCellMouseEventArgs e) { Show selectedShow = this.selectedShow = this.cinema.GetShowList()[e.RowIndex]; this.showTitle_lbl.Text = selectedShow.Title; this.showTime_lbl.Text = selectedShow.Time; this.showScreen_lbl.Text = selectedShow.ScreenNumber.ToString(); } private void confirmShow_btn_Click(object sender, EventArgs e) { if (this.selectedShow == null) return; Form2 seats = new Form2(this.selectedShow); seats.Show(); } And the code for FORM2 which is where the user selects their seats they want is: namespace CindysSeats { public partial class Form2 : Form { //booked seats could be added to booking object when you create it so that it is easily writable to the external file private List<Seat> bookedSeats = new List<Seat>(); private Show selectedShow; public Form2(Show selectedShow) { InitializeComponent(); this.selectedShow = selectedShow; this.showSeats_dg.DataSource = this.selectedShow.Seats; } private void showSeats_dg_RowHeaderMouseClick(object sender, DataGridViewCellMouseEventArgs e) { Seat selectedSeat = this.selectedShow.Seats[e.RowIndex]; if(this.bookedSeats.Contains(selectedSeat)) return; if(!selectedSeat.IsAvailable) return; this.bookedSeats.Add(selectedSeat); this.bookedSeats_lv.Items.Add(selectedSeat.ToString() + " " + selectedSeat.Price.ToString()+"\n"); this.bookedSeats_lv.Invalidate(); } private void bookSeats_btn_Click(object sender, EventArgs e) { } } thank you for helping

  • Oracle - Is there any effects of not having a primary key on a table ?

    - by Sathya
We use sequence numbers for primary keys on the tables. There are some tables where we dont really use the primary key for any querying purpose. But, we have Indexes on other columns. These are non-unique indexes. The queries use these non-primary key columns in the WHERE conditions. So, I dont really see any benefit of having a primary key on such tables. My experience with SQL 2000 was that, it used to replicate tables which had some primary key. Otherwise it would not. I am using Oracle 10gR2. I would like to know if there are any such side-effects of having tables that dont have primary key.

  • Turn Photos and Home Videos into Movies with Windows Live Movie Maker

    - by DigitalGeekery
Are you looking for an easy way to take your digital photos and videos and turn them into a movie or slideshow? Today we’ll take a detailed look at how to do use Windows Live Movie Maker. Installation Windows Live Movie Maker comes bundled as part of the Windows Live Essentials suite (link below). However, you don’t have to install any of the programs you may not want. Take notice of the You’re almost done screen. Before clicking Continue, be sure to uncheck the boxes to set your search provider and homepage. Adding Pictures and Videos Open Windows Live Movie Maker. You can add videos or photos by simply dragging and dropping them onto the storyboard area. You can also click on the storyboard area or on the Add videos and photos button on the Home tab to browse for videos and photos. Windows Live Movie Maker supports most video, image, and audio file types. Select your files and add click Open to add them to Windows Live Movie Maker. By default WLMM doesn’t allow you to add files from network locations…so check out our article on how to add network support to Windows Live MovieMaker if the files you want to add are on a network drive. Layout All of your added clips will appear in the storyboard area on the right, while the currently selected clip will appear in the preview window on the left. You can adjust the size of the two areas by clicking and dragging the dividing line in the middle.    Make the clips on the storyboard bigger or smaller by clicking on the thumbnail size icon. The slider at the lower right adjusts the zoom time scale.   Previewing your Movie At any time, you can playback your movie and preview how it will look in the Preview window by clicking the space bar, or by pushing the play button under the preview window. You can also manually move the preview bar slider across the storyboard to view the clips as the video progresses. Adjusting Clips on the Storyboard You can click and drag clips on the storyboard to change the order in which the photos and videos appear.   Adding Music Nothing brings a movie to life quite like music. Selecting Add music will add your music to the beginning of the movie. Select Add music at the current point to include it in the movie to the current location of your preview bar slider, then browse for your music clip. WLMM supports many common audio files such as WAV, MP3, M4A, WMA, AIFF, and ASF. The music clip will appear above the video / photos clips on the storyboard.   You can change the location of music clips by clicking and dragging them to a different location on the storyboard. Add Titles, Captions, and Credits To add a Title screen to your movie, click the Title button on the Home tab. Type your title directly into the text box on the preview screen. The title will be placed at the location of the preview slider on the storyboard. However, you can change the location by clicking and dragging title to other areas of the storyboard. On the Format tab, there are a handful of text settings. You can change the font, color, size, alignment,  and transparency. The Adjust group allows you to change the background color, edit the text, and set the length of time the Title will appear in the movie.   The Effects group on the Format tab allows you to select an effect for your title screen. By hovering your cursor over each option, you will get a live preview of how each effect will appear in the preview window. Click to apply any of the effects. For captions, select where you want your caption to appear with the preview slider on the storyboard, then click the captions button on the Home tab. Just like the title, you type your caption directly into the text box on the preview screen, and you can make any adjustments by using the Font and Paragraph, Adjust, and Effects groups above. Credits are done the same as titles and captions, except they are automatically placed at the end of the movie.   Transitions Go to the Animation tab on the ribbon to apply transitions. Select a clip from the storyboard and hover over one of the transition to see it in the preview window. Click on the transition to apply it to the clip. You can apply transitions separately to clips or hold down Ctrl button while clicking to select multiple clips to which to apply the same transition. Pan and zoom effects are also located on the Animations tab, but can be applied to photos only. Like transition, you can apply them individually to a clip or hold down Ctrl button while clicking to select multiple clips to which to apply the same pan and zoom effect. Once applied, you can adjust the duration of the transitions and pan and zoom effects. You can also click the dropdown for additional transitions or effects. Visual Effects Similar to Pan and Zoom and Transitions, you can apply a variety of Visual Effects to individual or multiple clips. Editing Video and Music Note: This does not actually edit the original video you imported into your Windows Live Movie Maker project, only how it appears in your WLMM project. There are some very basic editing tools located on the Home tab. The Rotate left and Rotate right button will adjust any clip that may be oriented incorrectly. The Fit to music button will automatically adjust the duration of the photos (if you have any in your project) to fit the length of the music in your movie. Audio mix allows you to change the volume level   You can also do some slightly more advanced editing from the Edit tab. Select the video clip on the storyboard and click the Trim tool to edit or remove portions of a video clip. Next, click and drag the sliders in the preview windows to select the are you wish to keep. For example, the area outside the sliders is the area trimmed from the movie. The area inside is the section that is kept in the movie. You can also adjust the Start and End points manually on the ribbon.   When you are finished, click Save trim. You can also split your video clips. Move the preview slider to the location in the video clip where you’d like to split it, and select Split. Your video will be split into separate sections. Now you can apply different effects or move them to different locations on the storyboard. Editing Music Clips Select the music clip on the storyboard and then the Options tab on the ribbon. You can adjust the music volume by moving the slider right and left.   You can also choose to have your music clip fade in or out at the beginning and end of your movie. From the Fade in and Fade out dropdowns, select None, Slow, Medium, or Fast. To adjust the sound of your audio clips, click on the Edit tab, select the Video volume button, and adjust the slider. Move it all the way to the left to mute any background noise in your video clips.   AutoMovie As you have seen, Windows Live Movie Maker allows you to add effects, transitions, titles, and more. If you don’t want to do any of that stuff yourself, AutoMovie will automatically add title, credits, cross fade transitions between items, pan and zoom effects to photos, and fit your project to the music. Just select the AutoMovie button on the Home tab. You can go from zero to movie in literally a couple minutes.   Uploading to YouTube You can share your video on YouTube directly from Windows Live Movie Maker. Click on the YouTube icon in the Sharing group on the Home tab. You’ll be prompted for your YouTube username and password. Fill in the details about your movie and click Publish. The movie will be converted to WMV before being uploaded to YouTube. As soon as the YouTube conversion is complete, you’re new movie is live and ready to be viewed. Saving your Movie as a Video File Select the icon at the top left, then select Save movie. As you hover your mouse over each of the options, you will see the output display size, aspect ratio, and estimated file size per minute of video. All of these settings will output your movie as a WMV file. (Unfortunately, the only option is to save a movie as a WMV file.) The only difference is how they are encoded based on preset common settings. The Burn to DVD option also outputs a WMV file, but then opens Windows DVD Maker and walks you through the process of creating and burning a DVD.   If you choose the Burn to DVD option, close this window when the WMV file conversion is complete and the Windows DVD Maker will prompt you to begin. When your movie is finished, it’s time to relax and enjoy.   Conclusion Windows Live Movie Maker makes it easy for the average person to quickly churn out nice looking movies and slideshows from there own pictures and videos. However, long time users of previous editions (formerly called Windows Movie Maker) will likely be disappointed by some features missing in Windows Live Movie Maker that existed in earlier editions. • Configuration Error ASP.NET password format specified is invalid

    - by salvationishere
I am getting the above error in IIS 6.0 now when I browse my C# / SQL web application. This was built in VS 2008 and SS 2008 on a 32-bit XP OS. The application was working before I added Login controls to it. However, this is my first time configuring Login/password controls so I am probably missing something really basic. This error doesn't happen until I try to login. Here are the details of my error from IIS; I get the same error in VS: Parser Error Message: Password format specified is invalid. The Network Service account has SELECT, EXECUTE, INSERT, UPDATE access to this database. But one problem I see is that all of the tables in this database are empty except for aspnet_SchemaVersions, which just has 2 records (common and membership). Is this right? I added users and roles via ASP.NET Configuration wizard, and I believe I set this up correctly since I followed the Microsoft tutorial at http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms998347.aspx. One other problem I see from VS is after adding content to my Page_Load on my initial login Password.aspx.cs file, I'm getting an invalid cast problem below. I googled this problem also but the solutions I saw confused me even more. The Page_Load section I added is: protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e) { Response.Write("Hello, " + Server.HtmlEncode(User.Identity.Name)); FormsIdentity id = (FormsIdentity)User.Identity; FormsAuthenticationTicket ticket = id.Ticket; Response.Write("<p/>TicketName: " + ticket.Name); Response.Write("<br/>Cookie Path: " + ticket.CookiePath); Response.Write("<br/>Ticket Expiration: " + ticket.Expiration.ToString()); Response.Write("<br/>Expired: " + ticket.Expired.ToString()); Response.Write("<br/>Persistent: " + ticket.IsPersistent.ToString()); Response.Write("<br/>IssueDate: " + ticket.IssueDate.ToString()); Response.Write("<br/>UserData: " + ticket.UserData); Response.Write("<br/>Version: " + ticket.Version.ToString()); } And the VS exception I'm getting: System.InvalidCastException was unhandled by user code Message="Unable to cast object of type 'System.Security.Principal.GenericIdentity' to type 'System.Web.Security.FormsIdentity'." • Visual Studio 2010, TlbImp generates .net 4.0 interops in 2.0 projects

    - by DJScrib
In a C# project we add a reference to a COM object via the Add References setup pointing to a COM object which results in the IDE auto-generating the interop assembly. So this is fine and good, but we are building based on .net 3.5 SP1 aka CLR 2.0, and the generated interops are using the 4.0 CLR making them incompatible. Is there a way to prevent this? I assume the other option is configure our build script to try using tlbimp.exe with the /references parameter? to point to mscorlib v2.0? Anyhow, I'm hoping there's a flag somewhere to allow this.

  • Visual Basic Cryptography Question

    - by Glenn Sullivan
    I am trying to mimic the results of some C code that uses the OpenSSL library using the system.security.crytography library in the .net 3.5 world, and I can't seem to get it right. I need some help... part of the issue is my understanding of crytography in general. Here's what is supposed to happen: I send a request for authentication to a device. It returns a challenge digest, which I then need to sign with a known key and return The device returns a "success" or "Fail" message. I have the following code snippet that I am trying to "copy": //Seed the PRNG //Cheating here - the PRNG will be seeded when we create a key pair //The key pair is discarded only doing this to seed the PRNG. DSA *temp_dsa = DSA_new(); if(!temp_dsa) { printf("Error: The client had an error with the DSA API\n"); exit(0); } unsigned char seed[20] = "Our Super Secret Key"; temp_dsa = DSA_generate_parameters(128, seed, sizeof(seed), NULL, NULL, NULL, NULL); DSA_free(temp_dsa); //A pointer to the private key. p = (unsigned char *)&priv_key; //Create and allocate a DSA structure from the private key. DSA *priv_dsa = NULL; priv_dsa = d2i_DSAPrivateKey(NULL, &p, sizeof(priv_key)); if(!priv_dsa) { printf("Error: The client had an error with the DSA API\n"); exit(0); } //Allocate memory for the to be computed signature. sigret = OPENSSL_malloc(DSA_size(priv_dsa)); //Sign the challenge digest recieved from the ISC. retval = DSA_sign(0, pResp->data, pResp->data_length, sigret, &siglen, priv_dsa); A few more bits of information: priv_key is a 252 element character array of hex characters that is included. The end result is a 512 (or less) array of characters to send back for validation to the device. Rasmus asked to see the key array. Here it is: unsigned char priv_key[] = {0x30, 0x81, 0xf9, 0x02, 0x01, 0x00, 0x02, 0x41, 0x00, 0xfe, 0xca, 0x97, 0x55, 0x1f, 0xc0, 0xb7, 0x1f, 0xad, 0xf0, 0x93, 0xec, 0x4b, 0x31, 0x94, 0x78, 0x86, 0x82, 0x1b, 0xab, 0xc4, 0x9e, 0x5c, 0x40, 0xd9, 0x89, 0x7d, 0xde, 0x43, 0x38, 0x06, 0x4f, 0x1b, 0x2b, 0xef, 0x5c, 0xb7, 0xff, 0x21, 0xb1, 0x11, 0xe6, 0x9a, 0x81, 0x9a, 0x2b, 0xef, 0x3a, 0xbb, 0x5c, 0xea, 0x76, 0xae, 0x3a, 0x8b, 0x92, 0xd2, 0x7c, 0xf1, 0x89, 0x8e, 0x4d, 0x3f, 0x0d, 0x02, 0x15, 0x00, 0x88, 0x16, 0x1b, 0xf5, 0xda, 0x43, 0xee, 0x4b, 0x58, 0xbb, 0x93, 0xea, 0x4e, 0x2b, 0xda, 0xb9, 0x17, 0xd1, 0xff, 0x21, 0x02, 0x41, 0x00, 0xf6, 0xbb, 0x45, 0xea, 0xda, 0x72, 0x39, 0x4f, 0xc1, 0xdd, 0x02, 0xb4, 0xf3, 0xaa, 0xe5, 0xe2, 0x76, 0xc7, 0xdc, 0x34, 0xb2, 0x0a, 0xd8, 0x69, 0x63, 0xc3, 0x40, 0x2c, 0x58, 0xea, 0xa6, 0xbd, 0x24, 0x8b, 0x6b, 0xaa, 0x4b, 0x41, 0xfc, 0x5f, 0x21, 0x02, 0x3c, 0x27, 0xa9, 0xc7, 0x7a, 0xc8, 0x59, 0xcd, 0x5b, 0xdd, 0x6c, 0x44, 0x48, 0x86, 0xd1, 0x34, 0x46, 0xb0, 0x89, 0x55, 0x50, 0x87, 0x02, 0x41, 0x00, 0x80, 0x29, 0xc6, 0x4a, 0x08, 0x3e, 0x30, 0x54, 0x71, 0x9b, 0x95, 0x49, 0x55, 0x17, 0x70, 0xc7, 0x96, 0x65, 0xc8, 0xc2, 0xe2, 0x8a, 0xe0, 0x5d, 0x9f, 0xe4, 0xb2, 0x1f, 0x20, 0x83, 0x70, 0xbc, 0x88, 0x36, 0x03, 0x29, 0x59, 0xcd, 0xc7, 0xcd, 0xd9, 0x4a, 0xa8, 0x65, 0x24, 0x6a, 0x77, 0x8a, 0x10, 0x88, 0x0d, 0x2f, 0x15, 0x4b, 0xbe, 0xba, 0x13, 0x23, 0xa1, 0x73, 0xa3, 0x04, 0x37, 0xc9, 0x02, 0x14, 0x06, 0x8e, 0xc1, 0x41, 0x40, 0xf1, 0xf6, 0xe1, 0xfa, 0xfb, 0x64, 0x28, 0x02, 0x15, 0xce, 0x47, 0xaa, 0xce, 0x6e, 0xfe}; Can anyone help me translate this code to it's VB.net crypto equivalent?   • Error when using TransformToAncestor: "The specified Visual is not an ancestor of this Visual."

    - by Brian Sullivan
I'm trying to get the offset of a control relative to the top of its window, but I'm running into trouble when using the TransformToAncestor method of the control. Note: this code is in a value converter which will convert from a control to its relative Y position in relation to the window. public object Convert(object value, Type targetType, object parameter, CultureInfo culture) { var ctrl = (Control) value; var win = Window.GetWindow(ctrl); var transform = ctrl.TransformToAncestor(win); // Exception thrown here. var pt = transform.Transform(new Point(0, 0)); return pt.Y; } The call to Window.GetWindow works just fine, and returns the correct window object inside which the control resides. Am I misunderstanding what WPF thinks of as an "ancestor"? I would think that given the result of GetWindow, that window would be an ancestor of the control. Are there certain nesting patters that would cause the line of ancestry to be cut off at a certain point?

  • Static libpng link with visual studio 2010

    - by Sanctus2099
Hey guys. I'm trying to add PNG support to my application and thus I want to include libpng. I know it needs zlib and thus I downloaded that as well. I went into the png folder/projects/vstudio and I opened the solution. I compiled it and it went just fine. I added some headers from it into my application and I copied the lib files. My program is a dll written in c++ which is later used from C#. When I run it in C# it complains about not finding my dll (tough if I remove the png part it works fine). I've had this problem before and it usually means a dll dependency is wrong. Now... libpng compiled both some .lib files and some .dll files. The dll files are bigger. My only guess is that it needs the dll files as well but I've seen that people can link to libpng without a dll. So my questions is: How can I compile libpng(and zlib for that instance) into just static libraries and how can I include those in my projects? I've searched around the internet and I couldn't find anything useful.

  • 503 (Server Unavailable) WebException when loading local XHTML file in Visual C# 2008

    - by kcoppock
Hello! So I'm currently working on an ePub reader application, and I've been reading through a bunch of regular XML files just fine with System.Xml and XmlDocument: XmlDocument xmldoc = new XmlDocument(); xmldoc.Load(Path.Combine(Directory.GetCurrentDirectory(), "META-INF/container.xml")); XmlNodeList xnl = xmldoc.GetElementsByTagName("rootfile"); However, now I'm trying to open the XHTML files that contain the actual book text, and they're XHTML files. Now I don't really know the difference between the two, but I'm getting the following error with this code (in the same document, using the same XmlDocument and XmlNodeList variable) xmldoc.Load(Path.Combine(Directory.GetCurrentDirectory(), "OEBPS/part1.xhtml")); "WebException was unhandled: The remote server returned an error: (503) Server Unavailable" It's a local document, so I'm not understanding why it's giving this error? Any help would be greatly appreciated. :) I've got the full source code here if it helps: http://drop.io/epubtest (I know the ePubConstructor.ParseDocument() method is horribly messy, I'm just trying to get it working at the moment before I split it into classes)

  • Visual Studio 2010 and discovery of advantage server error

    - by Tina Nipe
I installed VS 2010 on a Windows 7 64 bit machine. When I try and connect to an advantage database through the server explorer using the Advanatage OLEDB driver I get a cannot discover advantage database server error. I can connect to the database using the ARC just fine. I was able to connect in VS 2008 just fine. Any ideas on why I can't connect in VS 2010?
