• Problem with order by in LINQ

  Hi, I'm passing from the controller an array generated by the next code: public ActionResult GetClasses(bool ajax, string kingdom) { int _kingdom = _taxon.getKingdom(kingdom); var query = (from c in vwAnimalsTaxon.All() orderby c.ClaName select new { taxRecID = c.ClaRecID, taxName = c.ClaName }).Distinct(); return Json(query, JsonRequestBehavior.AllowGet); } The query List should be ordered, but it doesn't work, I get the names of the classes ordered wrong in the array, because I've seen it debugging that the names are not ordered.The view is just a dropdownbox loaded automatically, so I'm almost sure the problem is with the action. Do you see anything wrong?Am I missing something?

  Hi, I've a big GWT module which comprised of many java classes (& of course it's impossible to break it down into several modules). My GWT application consists of some forms, but the users usually work only with a few of them, anyway they should be abale to open any form as they need. Now my problem its that gwt generates a big js file that will load each time, but most of its content may never use! Is there any way to break the big js module file into several smaller files(for example, one file for each class) & gwt load them automatically as needed ?

• Enforcing a coding template in the getters of a class in java

  Hello, I want to make sure all getters of the classes in a certain package follow a given template. For example, all getters must be of the form: XXX getYYY(){ classLock.lock(); return YYY; finally{ classLock.unlock(); } } Basically, I want that my project will not compile/run unless all getters are of that form. What is the best way to do that? I would prefer a solution that can be used as an Eclipse plugin. Thanks, Yoav

• JAX-WS with JAXB tutorial

  I'm getting started in developing web services using JAX-WS. I'm trying to implement classes I can send between my service and client using JAXB, but having trouble getting it to work. I've tried following the example at this site but cannot seem to get it to work. After following the instructions, the test page that's displayed doesn't have any way of defining the Die objects as is suggested by the article. All of this is very new to me, so I'm really not sure where to go. I've checked the WSDL file linked from the test page, and my best guess is that the JAXB is not working properly as I don't see the Die class or its properties mentioned anywhere. A good, fully worked example would be very beneficial. Does anyone know where one can be found? If it's any help, I'm working in Netbeans. Thanks!

• Dynamically creating controls in MFC (Collection question)

  Hello all, I have some custom control inside of which i should create radiobuttons or checkboxes. The count of child controls is available only at runtime (it loads some file from which it gets this count). So i need to create variable number of controls. Which collection i should use for this purpose? Solution 1: simply use std::vector (or CArray) - not suitable because i want use MFC (CButton). Of course i can Attach() and later Detach() handle to window each time i need this window, but it will give big overhead. Solution 2: use std::vector or CArray or CList or... In this case i take care about making 'new' and appropriate 'delete' when control is unneeded. I am forgetful :) MFC handle map contains pointer to CButton and i can't use simple CArray, because it will move my objects each time when his size will grow. ... and the question is: Which collection i should use for containing variable count of MFC control classes?

  When a third party dependency attempts to load a class defined in a Play application using Class.forName(className, true, Thread.currentThread().getContextClassLoader()); Play will throw a ClassNotFoundException because the context class loader is of type PlayDependencyClassLoader which apparently only contains classes defined in jar dependencies. Caused by: java.lang.RuntimeException: java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: eventstore.Commit at org.mapdb.SerializerPojo.classForName(SerializerPojo.java:96) at org.mapdb.SerializerPojo$1.deserialize(SerializerPojo.java:74) at org.mapdb.SerializerPojo$1.deserialize(SerializerPojo.java:39) This only occurs when Play is started with play run. Starting Play with play start loads the class correctly. It would be a shame to sacrifice the class hot-swapping because of this behavior. Is there a known workaround?

• Is an object in objective-c EVER created without going through alloc?

  Hi, I know that there are functions in the objective-c runtime that allow you to create objects directly, such as class_createInstance. What I would like to know is if anything actually uses these functions other than the root classes' (NSObject) alloc method. I think things like KVC bindings might, but those aren't present on the iPhone OS (to my knowledge, correct me if I'm wrong), so is there anything that would do this? In case you're wondering/it matters, I'm looking to allocate the size of an instance in a way that circumvents the objc runtime by declaring no ivars on a class, but overriding the +alloc method and calling class_createInstance(self, numberofbytesofmyivars). • Eclipse: How to build an executable jar with external jar?

  Hi all, I am trying to build an executable jar program which depends on external jar downloaded. In my project, I included them in the build path and can be run and debug within eclipse. When I tried to export it to a jar, I can run the program but I can't when I try to press a button which includes function calls and classes from the external jar. I have edited the environment variables (Windows XP) CLASSPATH to include paths of all the external jar, but it doesn't work. A point to note is that I got compile warnings while exporting my executable jar, but it doesn't show up any description about the warnings.   I'm currently trying to scrape a website that has fairly poorly-formatted HTML (often missing closing tags, no use of classes or ids so it's incredibly difficult to go straight to the element you want, etc.). I've been using BeautifulSoup with some success so far but every once and a while (though quite rarely), I run into a page where BeautifulSoup creates the HTML tree a bit differently from (for example) Firefox or Webkit. While this is understandable as the formatting of the HTML leaves this ambiguous, if I were able to get the same parse tree as Firefox or Webkit produces I would be able to parse things much more easily. The problems are usually something like the site opens a <b> tag twice and when BeautifulSoup sees the second <b> tag, it immediately closes the first while Firefox and Webkit nest the <b> tags. Is there a web scraping library for Python (or even any other language (I'm getting desperate)) that can reproduce the parse tree generated by Firefox or WebKit (or at least get closer than BeautifulSoup in cases of ambiguity).

• Programatically Create Controller in Rails

  What's the best way to dynamically create a controller in Rails. I've got a class that needs to generate a bunch of controller that inherit from it. I could just create a bunch of files in /app/controllers, but they'd all be basically empty files. There's got to be a way to generate these classes dynamically and have them treated like other controllers in Rails, e.g. reloaded correctly in dev mode. I tried putting this in a config/initializer: FL.contact_types.each do |contact_type| controller_name = "#{contact_type.pluralize}Controller" Object.const_set(controller_name.to_sym, Class.new(ContactsController)) unless Object.const_defined?(controller_name.to_sym) end This worked, but I run into the dependency/reload problem and get “A copy of AuthenticatedSystem has been removed from the module tree but is still active” since the ContactsController inherits from ApplicationController which includes AuthenticatedSystem. Is creating a bunch of empty files really the best solution?

• best way to externalize HTML in GWT apps?

  What's the best way to externalize large quantities of HTML in a GWT app? We have a rather complicated GWT app of about 30 "pages"; each page has a sort of guide at the bottom that is several paragraphs of HTML markup. I'd like to externalize the HTML so that it can remain as "unescaped" as possible. I know and understand how to use property files in GWT; that's certainly better than embedding the content in Java classes, but still kind of ugly for HTML (you need to backslashify everything, as well as escape quotes, etc.) Normally this is the kind of thing you would put in a JSP, but I don't see any equivalent to that in GWT. I'm considering just writing a widget that will simply fetch the content from html files on the server and then add the text to an HTML widget. But it seems there ought to be a simpler way.

• Limited IList<> implementation ?

  Hello people, I'm doing some work with stats, and want to refactor the following method : public static blah(float[] array) { //Do something over array, sum it for example. } However, instead of using float[] I'd like to be using some kind of indexed enumerable (to use dynamic loading from disk for very large arrays for example). I had created a simple interface, and wanted to use it. public interface IArray<T> : IEnumerable<T> { T this[int j] { get; set; } int Length { get; } } My problem is : float[] only inherits IList, not IArray, and AFAIK there's no way to change that. I'd like to ditch IArray and only use IList, but my classes would need to implement many methods like Add, RemoveAt although they are fixed size And then my question : how can float[] implement IList whereas it doesn't have these methods ? • Converting HTML to plain text in PHP for e-mail

  I use TinyMCE to allow minimal formatting of text within my site. From the HTML that's produced, I'd like to convert it to plain text for e-mail. I've been using a class called html2text, but it's really lacking in UTF-8 support, among other things. I do, however, like that it maps certain HTML tags to plain text formatting — like putting underscores around text that previously had <i> tags in the HTML. Does anyone use a similar approach to converting HTML to plain text in PHP? And if so: Do you recommend any third-party classes that I can use? Or how do you best tackle this issue? Thanks!

  Hi at all guys, hope someone is using Mono & monodevelop... i'm getting the following error when i try to compile an ASP.NET apps ported from vs.net 2008 Error VBNC99999: Unexpected error: The classes in the module cannot be loaded. (VBNC99999) This is the only error i get. I'm using 4 external assembly / dll AjaxControlToolkit.dll FusionCharts.dll MySql.Data.dll PostBackRitalin.dll I've added the dll in bin directory, then i've referenced it. I'm using Mono, because on my "old" computer (acer aspire t2300 buyed in 2007) run with linux & with monodevelop very well. With windows, visual studio is reeeeeeally slow.. so i decide to pass to mono.. Can somenone know something about that error ? Thank you very much. Regards !

attempting to store an EntityManager object into an EntityManagerFactory field, but I don't understand how or why. My DAO classes accept both an EntityManager and EntityManagerFactory via the @PersistenceContext attribute, and they work find if I load them up and run them without the @ContextConfiguration attribute (i.e. if I just use the XmlApplcationContext to load the DAO and the EntityManagerFactory directly in setUp ()). I keep coming across these two structures: NSString * somestring (NSString *) somestring I understand the first simply sets a pointer to an NSString object, but what does the second construct do, and when should I use it? What's the deal with the asterix marks? Sorry if this question doesn't make any sense, I am completely new to this language, and haven't even reached the level of asking proper questions. • Profile service is not available in code in Page_Load within ASP.NET Web Projects

  Profile that is used for ASP.NET Profile Service is not available in Page code behind files like in Page_Load. It may be just a problem with Visual Studio installation/configuration, but as another problem, classes placed in App_Code in not seen in page codes. Even when I'm adding new ASP.NET folder to my project, "App_Code" is not available as an option. I tested the entire scenario with ASP.NET Web Project and Empty ASP.NET Web Project. This problem does exists while creating ASP.NET Website. Environment: Visual Studio 2010 Ultimate x64, ASP.NET 4.0, Windows Server 2008 R2 x64. What may be the problem and how it can be solved?

  I'm using JDK6the standard Scripting. I need to store and retrieve some JavaScript Objects that also contain Java Objects to JSON. I loaded the json2.js into the ScriptENgine and can use it fine without issue if the objects are all created in the Scrip Engine. The moment I try to use my own Java classes, I get some errors like "object does not support toJSON" errors. I did not find much about JSON in Java Scripting / Rhino context. Am I doing something totally wrong? What's the best way of achieving the requirement?

• JAXB, Netbeans and Interface Insertion Plugin

  Hi, I can't get my generated classes to implements any interface. This is my xml schema file: xmlns:jxb="http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/jaxb/" xmlns:ai="http://jaxb.dev.java.net/plugin/if_insertion" jxb:extensionBindingPrefixes="ai" <xs:element name="header"> <xs:annotation> <xs:appinfo> <ai:interfaces check="1"> utility.RuleInterface </ai:interfaces> </xs:appinfo> </xs:annotation> <xs:complexType> bla bla bla </xs:complexType> I checked the "Extension" option in the JAXB options and I hav added the xjc-if-ins.jar to the "Libraries" section of my project Properties. But the generated Header class doesn't implements the utility.RuleInterface. I can figure out what am I doing wrong... Is it something missing? Any idea? regards, Segolas

• The finest way to store the HardCore Data i android

  Hi All! I am working on an application where I have a long listing of different states approximately 20 states and each state consisting of several zones in addition to the weather forcast of each zone eventually. Now the thing is that I have already created the Listing of hardcore data in a list view of all the states. Again I need to add the hardcore data of several zones for each state(min 4 to 5 zones/ state). So , now I am wondering that whether I have to create the separate classes with hardcore names of all the zones in each state or is there any easy way out for doing the same. It would be great if anyone having the idea can tell me. Thanks, david

• Lombok with Play 2

  What about Lombok integration with Play Framework 2? I really like Lombok it make my code more readable and less boilerplate. And Play Framework is wonderful too. But there is a great trouble in case if you going to mixup them. Main reason is that scala temlates in play project compiled before domain classes. So Lombok, which itself is compiler's hack do not generate accessors for that time. The question is: if it any ways to make it work? I found some discussions in Google Groups, but they do not provide any reasonable solution. So have you got any success with it? And.. why guys from Play Framework project do not provide some Lombok-like solution? Anyway Play is full of code-generation magic and shadow compiling... so, why not?
