    I have a huge MySQL query that depends on JOINs. SELECT m.id, l.name as location, CONCAT(u.firstName, " ", u.lastName) AS matchee, u.email AS mEmail, u.description AS description, m.time AS meetingTime FROM matches AS m LEFT JOIN locations AS l ON locationID=l.id LEFT JOIN users AS u ON (u.id=m.user1ID) WHERE m.user2ID=2 UNION SELECT m.id, l.name as location, CONCAT(u.firstName, " ", u.lastName) AS matchee, u.email AS mEmail, u.description AS description, m.time AS meetingTime FROM matches AS m LEFT JOIN locations AS l ON locationID=l.id LEFT JOIN users AS u ON (u.id=m.user2ID) WHERE m.user1ID=2 The first 3 lines of each sub-statement divided by UNION are identical. How can I abide by the DRY principle, not repeat those three lines, and make this query more concise?

    I have a form where I have an administrator creating new users. The form uses the User model I created (login, password, first_name, etc...). For the last field on the form, I want to have a checkbox that doesn't need to be stored as part of the User record, but it is needed for the controller.     When users edit their account, I want to display a confirmation page that shows their updated information with the fields that they changed in bold. Is there a mysql statement that allows you to select the fields that a user changes?     I have a mysql table with many user input and I want to delete ghost e-mail between a special date. I use this query and it seems to work very good: DELETE u1 From tx_table u1 JOIN tx_table u2 USING (email) WHERE u1.tstamp < u2.tstamp but I want to delete between a longer time. When I add 300 it seems to delete everything in my table: DELETE u1 From tx_table u1 JOIN tx_table u2 USING (email) WHERE u1.tstamp < u2.tstamp+300. How can I add 5 minutes to the tstamp with SQL?

  • PDO Prepare statement not processing parameters

    I've exhausted all efforts at what appears to be a trivial problem, but gotten nowhere. There is a simple Prepare statement: $qry = $core->db->prepare("SELECT * FROM users WHERE email = '?'"); $qry->execute(array('[email protected]')); However, no rows are returned. Running the query with the parameters hardcoded into the query results in a successful selection of one row. I've tryed many different methods of doing the prepare, but even it this most simple form it isn't working. The PDO object is stored in a singleton called Core. PDO is using the mysql driver.

    I have a model called Contact_Email. When an Email template is sent through ActionMailer to a specific Contact, as part of the Create action it sends it through upon .save. However, I want to create a "skip" action which also creates a Contact_Email, but does NOT send an ActionMailer and allows me to set the status differently.   • cakephp isUnique for 2 fields?

    I have a registration form in which users can fill in two email address (email1 & email2). Marketing's requirement is that they need to be unique (unique as in if we had 10 users, then there would be 10*2=20 unique email address). The system is already built on cakephp, so what I'd like to know is, is there something similar to the isUnique feature (unique in one field) that can do this right out of the box?   • Parent Thread exiting before Child Threads [python]

    I'm using Python in a webapp (CGI for testing, FastCGI for production) that needs to send an occasional email (when a user registers or something else important happens). Since communicating with an SMTP server takes a long time, I'd like to spawn a thread for the mail function so that the rest of the app can finish up the request without waiting for the email to finish sending. I tried using thread.start_new(func, (args)), but the Parent return's and exits before the sending is complete, thereby killing the sending process before it does anything useful. Is there anyway to keep the process alive long enough for the child process to finish?

    I have a form on my site. The user enters their e-mail and selects a location from a dropdown. I then need to post that data to an external site by hitting a url with the user's location and e-mail in the query string. I'm doing this like so: string url = "http://www.site.com/page.aspx?location=" + location.Text + "&email=" + email.Text; HttpWebRequest request = (HttpWebRequest)WebRequest.Create(url); HttpWebResponse response = (HttpWebResponse)request.GetResponse(); My client says that I am not hitting their server, but when going through the debugger, I'm getting a response from their server. I also tried tracking what was happening by using Firebug, and I noticed that there was no POST made to that external site. What am I doing wrong here?

    I'm pretty new to regular expressions, and MAN do they give me a headache. They are so intimidating! For an email campaign I'm doing, a user will click a link out of the email with a few URL parameters filled in for them, to make filling out a form easier. I want to prevent any injection hacks or whatever it's called, but need to allow the $_GET parameters to be alphanumeric, have punctuation, and have spaces. If someone has a good method for this, I'd appreciate it, but right now I have: foreach($_GET as $m=>$n) { $get[$m] = preg_replace('(^[a-z0-9 \-\_\.]+)i',' ',$n); } I would like to be able to replace all characters NOT found with this regular expression, which I believe I use ?!, but I can't get that to work either. Any help in getting this to work would be appreciated!
