• Bots see something different!?

  I've submitted my web site to different apps like YahooWebmasters and similar places. They see my web site's main page's title as Indef of/ . However I see it normally, as My Title. Server: it says Apashi (wtf!?), it is Apache in reality PHP 5.2.5 FreeBSD cPanel Version 11.24.4-RELEASE Kernel version 6.3-PRERELEASE main page: index.html I guess it is because of index.html But why?

• Windows 8 permissions (CHMOD) with XAMPP

  While I know that CHMOD is impossible in Windows, I do have a problem with permissions. I'm running XAMPP on Windows 8 Release Preview and I'm trying to install ModenaCam. However, I get an error message which tells me that two files are not writable (they are 666) and they need to be 777. The permissions for the files are correct (full control for everyone, owner is everyone), but I can't get this thing to work! Any help would be greatly appreciated.

• How to use an USB digitizer?

  Hello, i am in China now, and when i saw an USB digitizer (resistive), i bought it, thinking that i could be used as a mouse. When i connect it to my windows 7 rc1 laptop, the system properties says "pen input available" But, nothing happens when i touch the panel... i installed the bundled drivers, in chinese only, and NOT in unicode (so the text is garbled) When i install the driver, i get access to a special key on the tablet, "switch from pen input to mouse", and the driver will move the pointer according to the position on the tablet. (but no click) If i use the "pen mode", the computer will use a special chinese IME that is very awkard, i want to use the microsoft ime, and be able to draw/take notes on the screen There are "generic" drivers? Or just a plain mouse driver that will click when i press on the surface The tablet name is "qiancai"

• Too many processes?

  VMware Fusion v3.0.1 One vm for Windows XP, converted and recently expanded the disk size. Mac OS X 10.5.8, 2 x 3 GHz dual-core intel xeon machine. Immediately after booting, and before VMware Fusion is launched, the Activity Monitor shows eight processes associated with "vm". What caught my eye is the duplicates: netifup and dhcpd. I noticed this while trying to re-establish network connectivity after the upgrade to 3.0.1. I am not sure when the network connection was clobbered, so I cannot say it happend during the upgrade. Is eight processes typcial? I expect about six, as listed in other notes and documents on the web site. Could this be related to the failure to connect to the network?

• Can I automatically login to ssh using passwords from OS X keychain?

  I need to login to an ssh server which doesn't support key based authentication. And I don't want to type the passwords every time. I am using OS X Lion (10.7.2). I have added the passwords to the OS X keychain[1]. Now I can retrieve the password automatically from the keychain using /usr/bin/security, however I can't find a way to send this password to the ssh prompt. I also tried sshpass. However when I try to run it ssh exits with the following error: ssh_askpass: exec(/usr/libexec/ssh-askpass): No such file or directory Permission denied, please try again. ssh_askpass: exec(/usr/libexec/ssh-askpass): No such file or directory Permission denied, please try again. ssh_askpass: exec(/usr/libexec/ssh-askpass): No such file or directory Permission denied (publickey,password). Is there anyway I can login to this server without having to enter the password every time? • Why won't Mail sync To Do/Tasks with Exchange?

  I'm using Apple Mail (Snow Leopard, everything is fully up-to-date), and am happily using an Exchange 2007 server for email needs, but I can't get it to synchronise the To Do notes from Mail with the Tasks from Exchange. I've tried creating a task in each and neither of them went to the other side. Bizarrely I have a single task from before I actually upgraded to Snow Leopard that did get into Mail from Exchange. Right-clicking on the Inbox and hitting 'Get Account Info' in Mail reports the correct number of entries in the 'To Do' folder for 'Messages on Server'.

• Why do I receive an error when I open an Office 2010 Document from my NAS?

  I've installed the release to manufacture version of Office 2010 and I can't open documents stored on my Network Attached Storage device. I receive a generic error dialog stating some generic troubleshooting the first of which is related to permissions. I can't find the special checkbox of which I'm sure there is one, to allow word to open files from this file share.

• Creating a vm using Hyper-V causes the host of BSOD

  Hi, Problem description: When I try to create a virtual machine, the host bsod part way through the process. From the logs in lookes to fail/hang on the "Creating new VirtualDisckDriver with new VHD" step. The BSOD error code is SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION : STOP:0x0000003B When the machine has finished restarting, it looks to have created the vhd and XML files for the vm but it isn't accessable. I have two server bothing behaving in exactly the same way, so I don't believe it's a hardware fault. Has anyone had a similar experince? How did you resolve the problem? • Mint Linux - Downgrade Java to 1.5

  Hi. It's my state: I installed some apps on a linux server(ubuntu). Apps stack are development tools: -some of Atlassian product -SVN, USVN -Maven, Artifactory -Tomcat & ... My problem: I want to create a bootable dvd to be able to restore same state(OS, configuration and apps) on another hardware(server). Some notes: I prefer ubuntu but my linux can be a different distributions if needed. w I prefer final result (bootable dvd) be simple and easy to use as installing a linux(ubuntu). I prefer a bootable DVD but if it's not possible, any other solution like partial backup/package even if needed to install first OS and then apply the package/backup/... can be good. • Indexing text file content with command line query

  I take daily notes in a plaintext file labeled with date in the YYYYMMDD format. These files are no more than 100 lines long, and are written in a blog style format. I'd like to be able search these files as if they were blog posts indexed by google, with some phrase query returning the most relevant/recent date filenames, with a snippet containing the relevant part. Ideally it would be something like this: #searchindex "laptop no sound" returns: 20100909.txt: ... laptop sound isn't working... 20100101.txt ... sound is too loud... debating what laptop to buy... and so on and so forth. I'm working on a linux platform (Debian with GNOME). I've looked at beagle and tracker, but they just seem complete overkill for what I want.

• Has anyone managed to install Office Webapps on SharePoint 2010, on Windows 7 ?

  I've installed SharePoint 2010 as a development environment on my Windows 7 x64 environment (notes here) and would like to install Office Web Apps onto it also. However, when trying to install (following this link), I get an error saying that Web roles aren't installed. The error message in the log file is: Start C:\Windows\system32\ServerManagerCmd.exe -whatif -inputpath C:\Users\nickh\AppData\Local\Temp\PRE1.tmp.XML Error: Failed to start process for file: C:\Windows\system32\ServerManagerCmd.exe arguments: -whatif -inputpath C:\Users\nickh\AppData\Local\Temp\PRE1.tmp.XML ErrorCode: 2(0x2). Which is effectively saying that ServerManagerCmd is not found. It isn't on my machine as it is deprecated and replaced by Powershell functions, but is on Server 2008 R2. I've tried copying that over and it just fails to run. Is there a way to get Office WebApps installed on Win7 ? Is there a way to get a working version of ServerManagerCmd.exe on a Windows 7 x64 environment ? Many thanks

  I have at the moment a logon.cmd script, that I'm using to map network drives to the users profile. It looks like this: ::Onboarding net use m: /delete net use m: \\BOB\onboarding ::Bookings net use n: /delete net use n: \\BOB\bookings ::Accounts net use j: /delete net use j: \\BOB\accounts It works fine up until it gets up to a folder that the current user cannot access, it then asks for a username and password instead of erroring and continuing. Notes: This very script used to work on another Samba PDC network, but I've moved it over to another server (Still Samba PDC) and now its breaking. Is there anyway for it to ignore the username/password prompt and just continue?

  I need to exchange encrypted messages with another party. These would be in the form of email like communication (not instant chat). The solution needs to be portable (USB stick). I've tried "Portable Thunderbird/Enigmail/Gnupg/Hotmail account" but it's just impossible to setup portable, countless meaningless error messages. Anyway, I would prefer something more straightforward. Notes: We won't know each others IP addresses. Our computers will often be switched off. Encryption would ideally be using a common password. Is there a solution to this?

• First time setting up a MySQL database.

  In trying to learn how to work with the LAMP stack, I've hit a wall with MySQL. I can't seem to find a good reference for the first time setup of MySQL to be used with Apache and python. So, my question is four-fold: 1) Under what circumstances should I create my first database. That is, what user do I use (Apache's http user? root?) 2)How do permissions work? 3) Do I have to do anything on the MySQL side to make MySQL talk to Apache, or MySQL to talk to Python/Django? 4) Is there a good resource online that describes setting all of this up? I've found a bunch for using a database once it's in place, but none for the initial setup? Notes: I'm trying to run my LAMP stack on a dedicated little box for testing/learning purposes only, so I don't have access to any DBA that could help me, as much as I'd like one.

Some notes: I login to the server using tunneling, nothing is open except dns, email, and web ports, not even ftp, and all default ports are change and hidden. I also monitor port scan and capture any one that try to find the hidden ports. Probably it is something open... Thank you in advanced.

• Location Services are always disabled in Mac OS X Lion

  A simple location services program was working fine on my machine and suddenly stopped working. Upon further exploring the problem, I realized that some process has disabled location services in System Preferences » Security & Privacy » Privacy. I checked Enable Location Services, but again it got disabled automatically. After some research I found that it's not just my program, even built-in system functions are also failing because of this problem for example System Preferences » Date & Time » Time Zone failed to get the current location. Some clients I've looked so far: Blink, seems promising but the Linux variant lacks a lot of features Twinkle Latest release is ~2 years old. AFAIK the only one capable of encrypting calls using zrtp. Empathy: default tool for IM on ubuntu Ekiga Some features I'd like to see: availablity of buddies conference calls call log chat desktop sharing (Blink seems to do that for Mac) So my question is: what client software do you prefer and for what reason?

• How to fix Visual Studio 2008 freeze?

  My Visual Studio 2008 freezes under some conditions. First, after a restart it is fine, but once it starts updating IntelliSense and counting down items it stops on the same number (the number slightly changed with further changes in the project). After that I get a sure freeze for: right-click in the code to get a context-menu changing from Debug to Release and vice versa quitting visual studio After a freeze I have to kill the process. Any idea what is wrong here?
