• A better way of handling the below program(may be with Take/Skip/TakeWhile.. or anything better)

  I have a data table which has only one row. But it is having 44 columns. My task is to get the columns from the 4th row till the end. Henceforth, I have done the below program that suits my requirement. (kindly note that dt is the datatable) List<decimal> lstDr = new List<decimal>(); Enumerable.Range(0, dt.Columns.Count).ToList().ForEach(i => { if (i > 3) lstDr.Add(Convert.ToDecimal(dt.Rows[0][i])); } ); There is nothing harm in the program. Works fine. But I feel that there may be a better way of handimg the program may be with Skip ot Take or TakeWhile or anyother stuff. I am looking for a better solution that the one I implemented. Is it possible? I am using c#3.0 Thanks.

  I am using visual studio 2005 c#, and doing server side coding. I have a list of checkboxes in my gridview via checkbox template. I have tried to assign a checkbox in my header template, and assigned a checkbox_checkchange method to make it such that when the checkbox at the header is checked, the list of checkboxes in the template will be checked as well. However, it does not work and I am not able to spot the mistake.   I'm getting this warning Warning: trim() expects parameter 1 to be string, array given in .. which is my trim line. The full code is functioned to send an error when fields are empty. However, this error appears saying every field is empty, but only the 'native' field is meant to be required so thats my 2nd problem. So given the list above the resultant list would look like: 1 1 -1 -1 -2 -2 -2 -2 -2 -3 My rough draft code looks like: var items = new []{1, 2, -1, 3, -2, 1, 1, 2, -1, -3}; var min = items.First(); var drawdown = items.Select(i => { if(i < min) { min = i; return i; } else { return min; } }); foreach(var i in drawdown) { Console.WriteLine(i); } But this is not very elegant. Is there an easier to read (linq?) way of doing this? I looked into Aggregate but it seemed to be the wrong tool. Ultimately the list of items will be very long, in the many thousands. So good performance will be an issue to.

  I have 2 input files. One is a list of prefix and lengths, like this: 101xxx 102xxx 30xx 31xx (where x is any number) And another is a list of numbers. I want to iterate through the second file, matching each number against any of the prefix/lengths. This is fairly easy. I build a list of regexps: my @regexps = ('101...', '102...', '30..', '31..'); Then: foreach my $regexp (@regexps) { if (/$regexp/) { # do something But, as you can guess, this is slow for a long list. I could convert this to a single regexp: my $super_regexp = '101...|102...|30..|31..'; ...but, what I need is to know which regexp matched the item, and what the ..s matched. I tried this: my $catching_regexp = '(101)(...)|(102)(...)|(30)(..)|(31)(..)'; but then I don't know whether to look in $1, $3, %5 or $7. Any ideas? How can I match against any of these prefix/lengths and know which prefix, and what the remaining digits where?

• What is the best way to structure those jquery call backs?

  I am new to jquery and recently have been amazed how powerful those call backs are. But here I got some logic and I am not sure what the best way is. Basically, I got a bunch of tables in web sql database in chrome. I will need to go through say table A, table B and table C. I need to submit each row of the table to server. Each row represents a bunch of complicated logic and data url and they have to be submitted in the order of A - B - C. The regular java way would be: TableA.SubmitToServer() { query table A; foreach(row in tableA.rows) { int nRetID = submitToServer(row); do other updates.... } } Similar for tableB and table C. then just call: TableA.SubmitToServer(); TableB.SubmitToServer(); TableC.SubmitToServer(); //that is very clear and easy. • Modifying an ObservableCollection using move() ?

  I have a question relating to modifying the individual items in an ObservableCollection that is bound to a ListBox in the UI. The user in the UI can multiselect items and then drop them at a particular index to re-order them. So, if I have items {0,1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9} the user can choose items 2, 5, 7 (in that order) and choose to drop them at index 3, so that the collection now becomes, {0,1,3, 2, 5, 7, 4, 8,9} The way I have it working now, is like this inside of ondrop() method on my control, I do something like: foreach (Item item in draggedItems) { int oldIndex = collection.IndexOf(item.DataContext as MyItemType); int newIndex = toDropIndex; if (newIndex == collection.Count) { newIndex--; } if (oldIndex != newIndex) { collection.Move(oldIndex, newIndex); } } But the problem is, if I drop the items before the index where i start dragging my first item, the order becomes reversed...so the collection becomes, {0,1,3, 7, 5, 2, 4, 8,9} It works fine if I drop after index 3, but if i drop it before 3 then the order becomes reversed. Now, I can do a simple remove and then insert all items at the index I want to, but "move" for me has the advantage of keeping the selection in the ui (remove basically de-selects the items in the list..)....so I will need to make use of the move method, what is wrong with my method above and how to fix it?   I am trying to read a link from one page, print the url, go to that page, and read the link on the next page in the same location, print the url, go to that page (and so on...) All I'm doing is reading the url and passing it as an argument to the get_links() method until there are no more links. • [PHP] Associating a Function to Fire on session_start()?

  Hi, I've searched the web but haven't been able to find a solution to the following challenge: I'd like to somehow associate a function that executes when session_start is called independent of the page session_start is called in. The function is intended to restore constants I've stored in $_SESSION using get_defined_constants() so that they're available again to any PHP page. This seems so straightforward to me but I'm pretty sure the PHP Session extension doesn't support the registration of user-defined events. I was wondering if anyone might have insight into this issue so I can either figure out the solution or stop trying. Ideally, I'd like to just register the function at run-time like so: $constants = get_defined_constants(); $_SESSION["constants"] = $constants["user"]; function event_handler () { foreach ($_SESSION["constants"] as $key => $value) { define($key, $value); } } register_handler("session_start", "event_handler"); So in any webpage, I could just go: session_start(); and all my constants would be available again.   I want to add two lists of a numeric type such that addedList[x] = listOne[x] + listTwo[x] The output of the list needs to be a Generic.IEnumerable that I can use in future linq queries. While I was able to do it using the code below, I can't help but feel like there must be a better way. Any ideas? • SelectQuery eating up 100% CPU

  I am doing a query for all the users on the machine and when it executes it grabs 100% CPU and locks up the system. I have waited up to 5 minutes and nothing happens. In the Task Manager wmiprvse.exe is using all the CPU. When I kill that process everything returns to normal. Here is my code: SelectQuery query = new SelectQuery("Win32_UserAccount", "LocalAccount=1 and Domain='" + GetMachine().DomainName + "'"); using(ManagementObjectSearcher searcher = new ManagementObjectSearcher(query)) { IList<WindowsUser> users = new List<WindowsUser>(); Console.WriteLine("Getting users..."); foreach (ManagementObject envVar in searcher.Get()) { Console.WriteLine("Getting " + envVar["Name"].ToString() + "..."); } } In the console all I see is Getting users... and nothing else. The problem appears to be with searcher.Get(). Does anyone know why this query is taking 100% CPU? Thanks. EDIT: OK I found that it the WMI process is only eating 25% CPU but it doesn't get released if I end the program (the query never finishes). The next time I start an instance the process goes up to 50% CPU, etc, etc until it is at 100%. So my new question is why is the CPU not getting released and how long should a query like this take to complete?

Critical CPU hungry processes are being starved of resources and causing a processing backlog. The problem is happening on all the 12th Generation Dell servers (r620s) in a recently deployed cluster. As near as I can tell, instances of this happening are matching up to peak CPU utilization, accompanied by massive amounts of "power limit notification" spam in dmesg. I don't think that's what is happening though. Dell suggested that the author try using the Performance profile, but that didn't help. He ended up applying some settings in Dell's guide for configuring a server for low latency environments and one of those settings (or a combination thereof) seems to have fixed the problem. Kernel.org bug #36182 notes that power-limit interrupt debugging was enabled by default, which is causing performance degradation in scenarios where CPU voltage regulation is kicking in. A RHN KB article (RHN login required) mentions a problem impacting PE r620 and r720 servers not running the Performance profile, and recommends an update to a kernel released two weeks ago. ...Except we are running the Performance profile... Everything I can find online is running me in circles here. What's the heck is going on?

• Using Diskpart in a PowerShell script won't allow script to reuse drive letter

  I built a script that mounts (attach) a VHD using Diskpart, cleans out some system files and then unmounts (detach) it. It uses a foreach loop and is suppose to clean multiple VHD using the same drive letter. However, after the 1st VHD it fails. I also noticed that when I try to manually attach a VHD with diskpart, diskpart succeeds, the Disk Manager shows the disk with the correct drive letter, but within the same PoSH instance I can not connect (set-location) to that drive. If I do a manual diskpart when I 1st open PoSH I can attach and detach all I want and I get the drive letter every time. Is there something I need to do to reset diskpart in the script? • Apache on Win32: Slow Transfers of single, static files in HTTP, fast in HTTPS

  I have a weird problem with Apache 2.2.15 on Windows 2000 Server SP4. Basically, I am trying to serve larger static files, images, videos etc. The download seems to be capped at around 550kB/s even over 100Mbit LAN. I tried other protocols (FTP/FTPS/FTP+ES/SCP/SMB), and they are all in the multi-megabyte range. The strangest thing is that, when using Apache with HTTPS instead of HTTP, it serves very fast, around 2.7MByte/s! I also tried the AnalogX SimpleWWW server just to test the plain HTTP speed of it, and it gave me a healthy 3.3Mbyte/s. I am at a total loss here. I searched the web, and tried to change the following Apache configuration directives in httpd.conf, one at a time, mostly to no avail at all: SendBufferSize 1048576 #(tried multiples of that too, up to 100Mbytes) EnableSendfile Off #(minor performance boost) EnableMMAP Off Win32DisableAcceptEx HostnameLookups Off #(default) I also tried to tune the following registry parameters, setting their values to 4194304 in decimal (they are REG_DWORD), and rebooting afterwards: HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\AFD\Parameters\DefaultReceiveWindow HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\AFD\Parameters\DefaultSendWindow Additionally, I tried to install mod_bw, which sets the event timer precision to 1ms, and allows for bandwidth throttling. According to some people it boosts static file serving performance when set to unlimited bandwidth for everybody. Unfortunately, it did nothing for me. So: AnalogX HTTP: 3300kB/s Gene6 FTPD, plain: 3500kB/s Gene6 FTPD, Implicit and Explicit SSL, AES256 Cipher: 1800-2000kB/s freeSSHD: 1100kB/s SMB shared folder: about 3000kB/s Apache HTTP, plain: 550kB/s Apache HTTPS: 2700kB/s Clients that were used in the bandwidth testing: Internet Explorer 8 (HTTP, HTTPS) Firefox 8 (HTTP, HTTPS) Chrome 13 (HTTP, HTTPS) Opera 11.60 (HTTP, HTTPS) wget under CygWin (HTTP, HTTPS) FileZilla (FTP, FTPS, FTP+ES, SFTP) Windows Explorer (SMB) Generally, transfer speeds are not too high, but that's because the server machine is an old quad Pentium Pro 200MHz machine with 2GB RAM. However, I would like Apache to serve at at least 2Mbyte/s instead of 550kB/s, and that already works with HTTPS easily, so I fail to see why plain HTTP is so crippled. I am using a Kerio Winroute Firewall, but no Throttling and no special filters peeking into HTTP traffic, just the plain Firewall functionality for blocking/allowing connections. The Apache error.log (Loglevel info) shows no warnings, no errors. Also nothing strange to be seen in access.log. I have already stripped down my httpd.conf to the bare minimum just to make sure nothing is interfering, but that didn't help either. If you have any idea, help would be greatly appreciated, since I am totally out of ideas! Thanks! Edit: I have now tried a newer Apache 2.2.21 to see if it makes any difference. However, the behaviour is exactly the same. Edit 2: KM01 has requested a sniff on the HTTP headers, so here comes the LiveHTTPHeaders output (an extension to Firefox). The Output is generated on downloading a single file called "elephantsdream_source.264", which is an H.264/AVC elementary video stream under an Open Source license. I have taken the freedom to edit the URL, removing folders and changing the actual servers domain name to www.mydomain.com.   Using this solution http://serverfault.com/questions/98940/bot-check-if-a-domain-name-is-availible/98956#98956 I wrote a quick script (pasted below) in C# to check if the domain MIGHT be available. A LOT of results come up with taken domains. It looks like all 2 and 3 letter .com domains are taken and it looks like all 3 letter are taken (not including numbers which many are available). • Seeking past end of file causes Apache hang, and it never restarts.

  I've actually solved my problem with a better script, but I'm still left wondering why Apache2 hung completely - this is an out-of-the-box ISPCONFIG 3.03 install, everything bang up to date, running perfectly. Until... I did this for various logs, since it's a nice easy window on what's occurring (in a protect dir, of course!). One day, the logs having grown large an me having sorted all my cron, scripting and mail queue errors, I thought I was time to start afresh. updated, rebooted, archived and deleted the logs. When I ran my script a couple of hours later, it hung. And hung. 8 minutes I waited. Chrome timed the page out, of course, but the server never came back to life. htop showed /usr/sbin/apache2 -k restart using 100% CPU. Never came back until I did a service apache2 restart. Ran fine, as soon as I hit that logfile again...dead. So, I worked out it was the logfile script, and I worked out that seeking beyond the end of the file wasn't good, and I found a better script http://www.php.net/manual/en/function.fseek.php#90450 But what I'm left wondering is... why didn't something restart or kill the process? How was one hanging page able to bring down the whole server? It's running suphp. I say "out of the box", I've tweaked mysql and apache to fork and reserve sensible amounts of processes for the 512Mb RAM the VPS has, and it'll handle multiple refreshes of large pages, and hadn't hung before. Any ideas how I'd avoid this? Google isn't my friend in this instance beyond the reccs. above about number of processes vs RAM available.
