• Problem in Loading certain Websites in Ubuntu 11.10

  I have a DSL connection in Ubuntu 11.04 and am having problems loading content from certain websites mostly providing CDN services. I have tried every suggestion asked at problem loading internet pages as I have the same problem. Also tried to remove the DNS Cache and Browser Cache. I have tried using Google DNS Server: 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4, but nothing seems to work. Though when I browse the websites in Windows XP then it does not pose any problem. This problem has come up only few days ago and has affected every browser(Chrome, Firefox and Opera) in Ubuntu 11.04. Thanks in advance.

• Is there a general rule of thumb for which browsers to optimize your site for?

  I have a site (recently relaunched it with a new design) that I have put off optimizing for ie7 for far too long. I was just never too worried about it. The site is optimized for ie8-10, Firefox, Chrome, Opera, Safari, etc.. Then I asked myself, is it even worth it? I checked traffic over the last couple months before the relaunch and about 1.3% of the traffic is coming from ie7. So, is there a general cuttoff percentage when you would not optimize for a specific browser?

What I need is: GET/POST/DELETE/PUT support multiple file uploads as fields (multipart/form-data) file uploads as body Extra points for: possibility to save multiple configurations and use them to pre-fill parameters OAuth support nice JSON response formatting Currently I'm using 3 tools: Chrome REST Console extension — My favorite, very nicely done. Has OAuth. However the functionality missing for me is sending file as a body of the request; Cannot send multiple files; Firefox Poster add-on — Quite nice, but the functionality it's missing for file as POST fields parameters; Also cannot send multiple files; cURL — can do anything, but it's quite tedious to use it from command line.

• Is it time to drop Courier from your monospace font stacks?

  I've been fine-tuning my font stacks lately and was wondering if it's safe to drop Courier from my monospace font stack yet? Would you feel comfortable dropping it? Of course, monospace is my final fallback. Note 1: OS Testbed: WinXP, WinVista, Win7, iPhone, iPad Based on my research, these browsers now substitute Courier New for Courier by default: IE9+ Chrome 2+ Firefox 10+ Safari 3.1+ iDevices Note 2: The default "font-family: monospace;" renders as Courier New in every browser I've tested, from IE6 through the latest iPhone/iPad devices. EDIT: One exception is Opera 12, which renders Consolas on Win. Opera 10 renders Courier New. Note 3: I've noticed that Courier refuses to render with any font smoothing (anti-aliasing) in any browser I've tested, regardless of system and/or browser display settings. Probably because it's an old bitmap font. This could be because of my system setup, however.

• Is there a simple, safe way to trigger a GPU lockup on a susceptible computer?

  Answers to my previous question, Ubuntu 12.04 froze, requiring powercycle. What should I look / grep for in the logs?, have led me to suspect that my computer is experiencing an intermittent GPU lockup. It has been happening about once a week, usually when I am using Chrome. Today it happened when I was creating a diagram on lucidchart I have a Dell Optiplex 755 with an ATI Radeon HD 2400 XT and dual monitors running in Xinerama mode. I am using 12.04 with the proprietary ATI driver installed. When the computer locks-up, I can still ssh in. And I would like to follow the instructions on reporting this provided at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/X/Troubleshooting/Freeze Is there a (safe) way to cause a GPU lockup so that I can go ahead and file a bug, rather than waiting until it happens again?

• Is there a ways to see granular per-visit data in Google Analytics?

  I've started using Google Analytics very recently and I'm a bit lost with the sea of options (have been using Sitemeter before for some time). I've clicked through the service a lot but couldn't find what I'm accustomed to. I can see multitude of aggregated statistics in GA like: charts of browser share lists of country share lists of most visited URLs within the page and so on, but I would actually like to analyze each of the visits themselves. Something like: User X, France, Chrome, 7 pageviews between 18:01 and 18:15, entered on a.htm and exited on b.htm User Y, UK, Firefox, 1 pageview at 18:20, entered on c.htm Is there an easy way to see the reports in this way (perhaps by clicking a link to a separate page to see that particular session's stats)? How to navigate there if so?

• SVG images grow and create scrollbars when on the server

  Okay so I embedded some SVG images into my page and opened it locally on Chrome and it looked fine. I upload the same file to the server and look at the page online and the SVG images have grown by maybe 5-10% and are surrounded by scroll bars like they are overflowing. I think it probably has to do with my lack of knowledge on how SVG and Embed work. What's really puzzling me though, is that it works fine locally. (I have cache disabled.) Help? Thanks. I'm not sure if I was just wrong before or if I changed something I'm not aware of, but it doesn't appear to be actually changing size anymore. • How do i set CTRL not to show where the pointer is?

  After recently re-installing, i went through every System Setting and choose exactly how i wanted everthing to be. Except one thing. I'd never seen the Show Cursor on CTRL value before, and wanted to know what it was like. After a while it was simply annoying, whenever i paste of cut in chrome it takes the focus off of the text before i can press V. I have been through eveything in System Settings and can't find it again to disable it. How do i set CTRL not to pulse around the cursor? I will be happy with directions in System Settings, Ubuntu Tweak, or GConf.

  I have installed an SSL certificate on one of my domains and it works perfectly, but on some pages I include a Google Font, which causes my certificate icon to change in: instead of: The reason, according to Google Chrome (translated with Google Translate): Your connection to xxxxxx is encrypted with 128-bit encryption. This page includes other resources which are not secure. These resources can be viewed by others while in transit and can be modified to fit. So how can I make the browser 'trust' my SSL certificate, even though I request an external resource from Google Fonts? • YouTube: How to Style an AngularJS App on the Device

  I installed the Droid@Screen plugin into NetBeans IDE 8 so that you can see the Android device that I held in my hand while doing the demo below. The demo shows the usage of the Terminal window to create an Ionic Framework application (from "tabs", which is one of the cool templates that the framework provides), i.e., that means I can use AngularJS to create a Cordova application out of the box, with many mobile-oriented components available out of the box. Then I deploy the app to the Chrome browser on Android, which means I can interact with it in NetBeans, e.g., for CSS styling and JavaScript debugging. In this demo, I show how the background color of the deployed app can be changed live from NetBeans. After that, once I'm happy with the styling, I deploy the app again, but this time as a Cordova app, i.e., a hybrid HTML5 application, which means the app is packaged as a native app and deployed directly to the device from NetBeans.   Is there a way to remove kernel 3.1 from Oneiric? I downloaded and upgraded to 3.1 with these instructions: Open the terminal and run these two commands for both 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Ubuntu 11.10/11.04: wget http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa...241006_all.deb sudo dpkg -i linux-headers-3.1.0-030100_3.1.0-030100.201110241006_all.deb Ubuntu (64-bit) For Ubuntu 11.10/11.04 (64-bit), issue these commands: wget http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa...1006_amd64.deb sudo dpkg -i linux-headers-3.1.0-030100-generic_3.1.0-030100.201110241006_amd64.deb wget http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa...1006_amd64.deb sudo dpkg -i linux-image-3.1.0-030100-generic_3.1.0-030100.201110241006_amd64.deb Everything went well. I was able to reboot quickly, but Firefox and Chrome constantly crash with Kernel 3.1. I am using Gnome 3.2 and saw improvement with 3.0.0.13 provided by ppa.
