Cant get the height of the div in html

I have assigned the 80% height of the viewport to my div as height. In Button click i have displayed the height of the div. This works fine in ie9, ie10. But in ie7, ie8 $("#divContainer").height() is 0. We've been having a discussion at our workplace on this with some for and some against the behavior. Wanted to hear views from you guys : <html> <body> <div> Test! <script> document.body.removeChild(document.getElementsByTagName('div')[0]); </script> </div> </body> </html> Should the above script work and do what it's supposed to do? First, let's see what's happening here : I have a javascript that's inside the <div> element. This javascript will delete the child node within body which happens to hold the div inside which the script itself exists. Now, the above script works fine in Firefox, Opera and IE8. But IE6 and IE7 give an alert saying they cannot open the page. Let's not debate on how IE should have handled this (they've accepted it as a bug and hence fixed it in IE8). The point here is since the 'SCRIPT' tag itself is a part of DOM, should it be allowed to do something like this? Should it even exist after such an operation?

Tweaking rendering of thumbnail images in galleria

I am working on the classic theme of Galleria to display a gallery. Here the requirement is to display the thumbnails in two row with the images in following order with a horizontal scroller if the thumbnails list div width increases more than 24. 1 3 5 7 9 11 13 15 17 19 21 23 .. 2 4 6 8 10 12 14 16 18 20 22 24 .. For if the images are less than 24 and more than 12 then the order should be rendered in two rows as :- 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 .. For if the images is less than 12 the images should be rendered in a single row as :- 1 2 3 4 5 6 7... Presently what I have done is I am using css3 column property to do this using different classes on the basis of image counts. This is working in all browsers but in IE8. So, is there any substitute for css3 column property for IE8 or less. Or some better way to implement the stuff that works fine in IE as well.

In Safari, using jQuery a Form Input Text Field does not receive focus after alert is displayed. Why

I have an ASPX web form. I use jQuery to simply my Javascript. I use a Javascript validation script to validate each of the form fields' values. If an error occurs, I popup an alert with an error message. Then I transfer focus to the underlying element. Here are examples I have tried. Using jQuery: var Form_FieldDef = function(name) { this.name = name; this.SetFocus = function() { $('#' + this.name)[0].focus(); } this.Validate = function() { var isvalid = true; if ( $.trim($('#' + this.name).val()) == '') { alert("Your entry is empty"); this.SetFocus(); isvalid = false; } return isvalid; } } This works on IE7, IE8, Opera, Chrome, and Firefox. It does not work on Safari 4 on PC. I don't have a Mac. So I changed the SetFocus method to this. this.SetFocus = function() { var fld = document.getElementById(this.name); if (fld != null) fld.focus(); } This works on IE7, IE8, Opera, Chrome, and Firefox. It does not work on Safari 4 on PC. I stepped through the code with VS 2008 debugger, and I'm calling the focus method on the underlying element.

Meraki wireless access point disconnects clients

We have a Meraki MR16 Cloud Managed AP and it disconnects certain clients. The clients with Intel wireless cards work without any disconnects. The Meraki reports the follow in its event log: Sep 4 09:55:47 WPA authentication Sep 4 09:55:47 802.11 association channel: 11, rssi: 64 Sep 4 09:55:38 802.11 disassociation client has left AP Sep 4 09:55:38 WPA deauthentication vap: 0, radio: 0, aid: 1633956416 An example wireless network card which the Meraki disconnects is Realtek RTL8191SE 802.11b/g/n WiFi Adapter. The realtek laptop is sat 2 meters away from the AP and has a lot of signal and the Meraki reports minimal interference. Any ideas why it disconnects non-intel wireless network cards?

System = Windows 7 64-bit Various programs, notably Regedit, won't start. Instead I get: The Application was unable to start correctly (0xc0000142). Strangly, at least to my thinking, I can launch them via Task Manager. I am also grappling with AVG errors or over-activity, e.g. reports of Broken digital Signature. I am also having problems with Excel Update KB978474 I mention these just incase anyone thinks there is a connection, rather than expecting people to solve 3 problems at once.

Portable version of Sonicwall Global VPN Client? Install without administrator credentials?

Does anyone know of a portable version of the Sonicwall Global VPN Client compatible with Windows 7 64 bit? I basically need to connect to my workplace during heavy snow here in Liverpool, and the only logon I have available on this computer is a non-administrator account (which won't let me install the program)... And I can't get hold of the administrator! If anyone knows of any alternative program/any hacks or other suggestions would be very welcome! Note I've tried extracting the MSI using 7-zip, which presented me with an MSI installer and "RunMSI.exe". The extracted MSI allowed me to get part way through the installation, and then asked for admin password again.

What is asloader.exe and why does it want to run elevated?

I have Vista 64-bit ultimate on my home computer, with accounts for each family member. Most are administrators but I have one kid with a plain user account. When she logs in she gets a prompt that asloader wants to run but needs administrator. I gather that this has something to do with either the ASUS mobo (P6T Deluxe V2) or the ATI graphics card (Sapphire 4890 OC). Can anyone explain what asloader does, and suggest how I might configure something to suppress the prompt my kid gets? Thanks.

Unable to Use Bluetooth Mighty Mouse or Wireless Keyboard with Boot Camp

I have Windows 7 64-bit running on a MacBook Pro in a Boot Camp partition. I am trying to pair with my Bluetooth Mighty Mouse and wireless keyboard under Windows, but whenever I try to do so, here's what happens: While on the Add a device window, I turn on the mouse or press a key on the keyboard, and the mouse or keyboard shows up in the list of available devices. I click the device and then the Next button, and the window displays Connecting to device... Time passes. Eventually, I get this error message indicating that the device could not be accessed. The error code is 0x80070015. I've run Windows Update and Apple Software Update.

Windows Server 2003 Terminal Server with installed licenses will not go beyond 2 connections

I installed the Terminal Server role in Windows Server 2003 Standard 64-bits. Still, only 2 connections are allowed. The License Manager says that there are 10 Device CALs available, which is correct, and that none are given out. For good measure I let the server reboot, to no effect. Before this, there was another server (same Windows, except that it is 32 bits) active as a licensing server. I removed the role first and then then added it to the new server. I then removed the Terminal Server Licensing Server component off the old one and added it to the new one. After that, I added to licenses. When that didn't give the required result, I rebooted to new server. Still, the new server, with licenses and all, acts as if it has the 2 license RDP. The server are all stand-alone, there is no active directory been set up. Both servers are in different workgroups.

Unable to execute file in the temporary directory

I am using Windows 8.1 Pro 64-bit. I see this error, almost everytime I launch an executable file (to install it) but not for all of them. I don't see the error when I use Run as Administrator. I looked around, and found a solution: I needed to give permissions to the current user for the temp file as shown in the picture below: The problem here is solved temporarily, but it goes back to give me the same problem after restarting the PC. What can I do to prevent such a thing? I don't really want to use the built in Administrator account all the time. Update: The problem is caused by the cracked version of Adobe Acrobat. I am running Windows 8, 64 bit and have SQL Server 2012 installed. I downloaded the client tools, looked in the directory for SQL Server Management Studio, and see it's there. When I try to run SQL Management Studio I receive the error message: "Cannot find one or more components. Please reinstall application". This problem just started. I have reinstalled the application and downloaded the service packs. The shortcut key shows the path but it still will not run.

Need help trouble shooting high CPU usage by PHP-fpm

There is a problem that is driving me crazy. After the day I tried to fix the CPU usage problem of my VPS, the CPU load has grown from 60% to 150%, and I have no idea what causes the problem. Please help me. I had installed a copy of mediawiki on a Linode 1024. The wiki is running on Niginx + PHP-fpm + MySql. The wiki doesn't have much traffic, only around 4000 requests/day, mostly from Google and Bing bots. It had been using around 60% (of total 400% on the Linode) of the CPU before. I thought it was a bit high, so two day ago, I was trying to fix the problem (not knowing what was waiting for me). I did nothing but added a new empty line to wiki's configure file, which would change the modified time of the configure file, and then all the cached page files would be set invalidated. I had done that before, and that would cause high CPU usage, but normally it would take only hours to let things back to normal again. Not this time, my CPU usage has been around 150% for more than two days. It is php-fpm using most of CPU reassures. Using 100% of three cores is not rare. I hadn't seen that before. There are other sites on the Linode, but it should be the wiki. Because if I offline the wiki, CPU usage will drop back to around 40% soon. The day I also duplicated php-fpm.conf, and opened it, but didn't changed it. I have no idea what I did wrong. I here ask for help to save myself from being crazy!!! It is php-fpm. Is there a way to find out what is it doing? Eclipse says "Access Denied" when running javaw and how to fix it?

I'm trying to get Eclipse to compile and run a HelloWorld class but it can't even do that. I have installed Eclipse x86 SDK 4.2.0 together bit with the latest JRE and JDK both in 64 bit as well. I also have the PATH variables set to respond to command prompts. procdump on w3wp.exe: Only part of a ReadProcessMemory or WriteProcessMemory request was completed.

I'm having a problem with an IIS application that occasionally spikes up in CPU usage, and am trying to use procdump to get a memory dump for examination. I'm running "procdump.exe -64 -mA 9999" where 9999 is the pid of the process. But every time I do it, I get an error: Only part of a ReadProcessMemory or WriteProcessMemory request was completed. Doing this also recycles the apppool, relieving the CPU spike, so I can't keep trying until I get it right. Does anyone know what is going wrong?

Windows 7 Windows XP mode cannot run - it says "Require Hardware Assisted Virtualization"

After installing the 2 files for Windows 7 Windows XP mode, the Start Menu now has Windows Virtual PC Windows XP Mode but clicking on the first merely brings out a folder, and clicking on the second brings out a dialog box that says: "Require Hardware Assisted Virtualization" Does that mean the machine cannot support Windows 7 Windows XP mode? I am running Win 7 Ultimate 64 bit edition. This is the dialog box: Update: the computer is an HP TouchSmart, with American Megatrends BIOS v02.61. I looked into the BIOS set up but it is quite simple and dosen't have something for "hardware assisted virtualization". The CPU is Intel Core 2 Duo T5750.

Ubuntu 11.04 VM shows a black screen in VMware Player

I have a Ubuntu Server 11.04 64 bit VM running on VMware Player 3.1.4 that only shows a black screen. No matter what I try, the screen remains black. The VM has worked the first time. When I reset the machine, it shows the VMware loader and a flickering _ for about a second. Then the screen turns black again. VM settings: Memory: 512MB Processors: 1 HD: 20GB CD: auto detect Floppy: auto detect Network adapter: NAT USB controller: present soundcard: auto detect printer: present display: auto detect I just created a fresh VM and the same happens, so it seems that the problem is consistent.

This problem is driving me nuts. CS0016: Could not write to output file 'c:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework<64\vX.X.XXXX\Temporary ASP.NET Files\root\XXXXXX\XXXXXX\App_Web_XXXX.aspx.XXXXXXXX.XXXXXXXX.dll' -- 'The directory name is invalid. ' Tried to give full access to network service on C:\windows\temp and the temp folder in v4.0.xxx folder. Been searching hi and low online but no one has the right answer for this. Server is Windows Server 2008r2, SQL Server 2008r2 is installed on the same server. I believe that it could have something to do with SQL Server being installed after the .NET Framework 4.0 was installed, but I did a aspnet_regiis.exe -u and then -i to reinstall. Tried from both Framework folder and Framework64 folder, still no luck Anybody outthere with the same problem? Thanks in advance, Christian

VLC without border/window decoration in Windows

I'm trying to run VLC (2.1, 64 bit) without any chrome on Windows 7. You can achieve it by going to Preferences, and in the Interface tab, unchecking Integrate video in interface, and also in the Video tab, unchecking Window decorations. The problem lies in the fact that without Window decorations there is no apparent way to move or resize the video window - in GOM player, for example, you can move window by dragging on the video itself; is there an option for this in VLC? Ideally, I would like to move the window by the method described above (by dragging the video), and would like the Window decorations to reappear on mouseover, to allow resizing; I'm a new VLC user, but unsure how far the customisation goes. - I'd settle with just the moving of the window via dragging the video if this is possible by advanced setting. There is a similar question here, but not exactly, and no solution to that particular question.
