  • Can I combine two functions into one using Javascript?

    I have the following code that I would like to simplify. With javascript and jQuery is there an easy way that I could combine these two functions?   • How can one request a debug build from javac without changing the ant scripts?

    I have a complex build system involving many ant scripts, some targets of which invoke the javac task. These ant scripts do not provide for a way to request a debug build from javac, i.e. neither debug nor debuglevel parameters of the javac task are specified. Is it still possible to instruct javac to build with debugging support without changing the build scripts themselves? The scripts are invoked from console.

    I would like to implement an observer pattern in Objective-C where the observer implements an interface similar to SKPaymentTransactionObserver and the observable class just extends my base observable. My observable class looks something like what is below. Notice I'm making copies of the observers before enumeration to avoid throwing an exception . I've tried adding an NSLock around add observers and notify observers, but I run into a deadlock.     I'm trying to use GData to retrieve the email address, real name, and profile URL of the user that just authorized my site using Google OAuth. We know how to request it using Google's OpenID flow, but the OpenID flow has the severe limitation that we have to ask for a Google Apps user's domain before we know where to send them to log in. At least using OAuth (or even AuthSub), the user gets prompted for which of their Google accounts to log in.

    I'm trying to resolve this URL Route: Route articlesByCategory = new Route("articles/c{cid}-{category}", new Handler); However, it seems like the following url won't resolve to this route: // doesn't work www.site.com/articles/c24-this-is-the-category-title // This works www.site.com/articles/c24-category I assume it has to do with the dashes in the title, but can anyone tell me why this works this way? Is there a way to allow dashes in the title for a URL route like this?

    I am trying to write a LINQ query which will return true if there are multiple objects which have a property with the same value. Here is what I have come up with so far: Formatters.Where(Function(f As DataModel.Formatter) _ Formatters.Select(Function(f2 As DataModel.Formatter) f2.Name.ToLower()).Contains(f.Name.ToLower())).Count > 1 However the above always returns true as long as their are more then 1 elements in the list, can someone please give me a hand with this?   • Read from one large file and write to many (tens, hundreds, or thousands) files in Java?

    I have a large-ish file (4-5 GB compressed) of small messages that I wish to parse into approximately 6,000 files by message type. Messages are small; anywhere from 5 to 50 bytes depending on the type. Each message starts with a fixed-size type field (a 6-byte key). If I read a message of type '000001', I want to write append its payload to 000001.dat, etc. The input file contains a mixture of messages; I want N homogeneous output files, where each output file contains only the messages of a given type. What's an efficient a fast way of writing these messages to so many individual files? I'd like to use as much memory and processing power to get it done as fast as possible. I can write compressed or uncompressed files to the disk. I'm thinking of using a hashmap with a message type key and an outputstream value, but I'm sure there's a better way to do it. Thanks!

  • Has any one used client_side_validations gem with Chosen.js dropdown?

    I am using chosen.js (http://harvesthq.github.com/chosen/). I was wondering if anyone has been able to use chosen select boxes and client_side_validations together. The issue is that when we use chosen it hides the original select element and renders its own dropdown instead, and when we focus out the validation isn't called and also when the validation message is shown it is shown with the original select element so positioning of the error isnt also correct. What could be a good way to handle this, My be we can change some code inside ActionView::Base.field_error_proc which currently looks something like ActionView::Base.field_error_proc = Proc.new do |html_tag, instance| unless html_tag =~ /^<label/ %{<div class="field_with_errors">#{html_tag}<label for="#{instance.send(:tag_id)}" class="message">#{instance.error_message.first}</label></div>}.html_safe else %{<div class="field_with_errors">#{html_tag}</div>}.html_safe end end Any ideas ?     I am trying to write a program that will verify that all cookies sent out from the machine are in fact going to the domain they came from. This is part of a larger security project to detect cookie based malicious attacks (such as XSS). The main snag for this project is actually detecting the out-going cookies. Can someone point me in the right direction for monitoring out-going HTTP traffic for cookie information?   • Can managed and unmanaged C++/MFC be mixed in one dll?

    Previously we had software in MFC (VC6), VB6 and C# applications that needed to call the same engine written in C++ (and MFC). The engine required C++ for speed. At the time we decided to use COM as the interface because all three could use it with the least issues in marshalling, etc. Our MFC application is now deprecated and we have recently decided to dump VB6, so what we've got left is C#. We can just leave the COM engine as-is, but it would be nice to get away from COM registration, etc., and have a managed interface to work with. COM registration occasionally causes support issues if there is something wrong with the person's machine. Is it possible to have a dll with the existing unmanaged C++/MFC, and a .NET front end interface?

  • How does one go about understanding GNU source code?

    I'm really sorry if this sounds kinda dumb. I just finished reading K&R and I worked on some of the exercises. This summer, for my project, I'm thinking of re-implementing a linux utility to expand my understanding of C further so I downloaded the source for GNU tar and sed as they both seem interesting. However, I'm having trouble understanding where it starts, where's the main implementation, where all the weird macros came from, etc. I have a lot of time so that's not really an issue. Am I supposed to familiarize myself with the GNU toolchain (ie. make, binutils, ..) first in order to understand the programs? Or maybe I should start with something a bit smaller (if there's such a thing) ? I have little bit of experience with Java, C++ and python if that matters. Thanks!

  • Too many open files in one of my java routine.

    I have a multithreaded code that has to generated a set of objects and write them to a file. When I run it I sometime get "Too many open files" message in Exception. I have checked the code to make sure that all the file streams are being closed properly. Here is the stack trace. When I do ulimit -a, open files allowed is set to 1024. We think increasing this number is not a viable option / solution. [java] java.io.FileNotFoundException: /export/event_1_0.dtd (Too many open files) [java] at java.io.FileInputStream.open(Native Method) [java] at java.io.FileInputStream.<init>(FileInputStream.java:106) [java] at java.io.FileInputStream.<init>(FileInputStream.java:66) [java] at sun.net.www.protocol.file.FileURLConnection.connect(FileURLConnection.java:70) [java] at sun.net.www.protocol.file.FileURLConnection.getInputStream(FileURLConnection.java:161) [java] at java.net.URL.openStream(URL.java:1010) Now what we have identified so far by looking closely at the list of open files is that the VM is opening same class file multiple times. /export/BaseEvent.class 236 /export/EventType1BaseEvent.class 60 /export/EventType2BaseEvent.class 48 /export/EventType2.class 30 /export/EventType1.class 14 Where BaseEvent is partent of all the classes and EventType1 ant EventType2 inherits EventType1BaseEvent and EventType2BaseEvent respectively. Why would a class loader load the same class file 200+ times. It seems it is opening up the base class as many time it create any child instance. Is this normal? Can it be handler any other way apart from increasing the number of open files?

  • Reading from a oracle temp table in a separate procedure than the one it was populted in

    I have a 2 stored procedures, the first creates an oracle temp table and the second reads from it. The temp table only has scope for that session. I'm calling the procedures from .Net and the second procedure never returns any results. However if I use the same sprocs and parameters in SQL*Plus it works fine. I've tried creating an Oracle Transaction object and had hoped I'd be able to read the tables in while still using the same transaction - trying to emulate an SQL Plus type of single connection environment. Any ideas what I'm doing wrong??

    Hi, Imagine the obvious model of employees and departments, where each employee must refer to a single department, and each department may have none to many employees. For Employee I have a pointer to Department, and I set its value to the address of the object of the relevant Department. When I try to save the Employee I get an error: 2010-04-07 10:05:22.491 CoreData2[1112:207] * Terminating app due to uncaught exception 'NSInvalidArgumentException', reason: '* -[NSCFDictionary setObject:forKey:]: attempt to insert nil value (key: Department)' I tried, just for testing, to make the reference from Employee to Department optional, but I get the same result.
