  • Why my mysql DISTINCT doesn't work ?

    - by belaz
    Hello, Why the two query below return duplicate member_id and not the third ? i need the second query to work with distinct. Anytime i run a GROUP BY, this query is incredibly slow and the resultset doesn't return the same value as distinct (the value is wrong). SELECT member_id, id FROM ( SELECT * FROM table1 ORDER BY created_at desc ) as u LIMIT 5 +-----------+--------+ | member_id | id | +-----------+--------+ | 11333 | 313095 | | 141831 | 313094 | | 141831 | 313093 | | 12013 | 313092 | | 60821 | 313091 | +-----------+--------+ SELECT distinct member_id, id FROM ( SELECT * FROM table1 ORDER BY created_at desc ) as u LIMIT 5 +-----------+--------+ | member_id | id | +-----------+--------+ | 11333 | 313095 | | 141831 | 313094 | | 141831 | 313093 | | 12013 | 313092 | | 60821 | 313091 | +-----------+--------+ SELECT distinct member_id FROM ( SELECT * FROM table1 ORDER BY created_at desc ) as u LIMIT 5 +-----------+ | member_id | +-----------+ | 11333 | | 141831 | | 12013 | | 60821 | | 64980 | +-----------+ my table sample CREATE TABLE `table1` ( `id` int(11) NOT NULL AUTO_INCREMENT, `member_id` int(11) NOT NULL, `s_type_id` int(11) NOT NULL, `created_at` datetime DEFAULT NULL, PRIMARY KEY (`id`), KEY `s_FI_1` (`member_id`), KEY `s_FI_2` (`s_type_id`) ) ENGINE=InnoDB AUTO_INCREMENT=313096 DEFAULT CHARSET=utf8;

  • mysql codeigniter active record m:m deletion

    - by sea_1987
    Hi There, I have a table 2 tables that have a m:m relationship, what I can wanting is that when I delete a row from one of the tables I want the row in the joining table to be deleted as well, my sql is as follow, Table 1 CREATE TABLE IF NOT EXISTS `job_feed` ( `id` int(11) NOT NULL AUTO_INCREMENT, `body` text NOT NULL, `date_posted` int(10) NOT NULL, PRIMARY KEY (`id`) ) ENGINE=InnoDB DEFAULT CHARSET=latin1 AUTO_INCREMENT=3 ; Table 2 CREATE TABLE IF NOT EXISTS `job_feed_has_employer_details` ( `job_feed_id` int(11) NOT NULL, `employer_details_id` int(11) NOT NULL, PRIMARY KEY (`job_feed_id`,`employer_details_id`), KEY `fk_job_feed_has_employer_details_job_feed1` (`job_feed_id`), KEY `fk_job_feed_has_employer_details_employer_details1` (`employer_details_id`) ) ENGINE=InnoDB DEFAULT CHARSET=latin1; So what I am wanting to do is, if the a row is deleted from table1 and has an id of 1 I want the row in table to that also has that idea as part of the relationship also. I want to do this in keeping with codeigniters active record class I currently have this, public function deleteJobFeed($feed_id) { $this->db->where('id', $feed_id) ->delete('job_feed'); return $feed_id; }

  • Ways to prevent multiple email notification with php&mysql

    - by Louis Loudog Trottier
    My 1st post, but i got many great answers and tips from stackoverflow so far. This one was a close call- How does facebook, gmail send the real time notification? but not exactly, so let brainstorm this together. I have CMS system with mail notification when a change is made on the site. Everything wotk very well but i want to prevent multiple notification if somene make another quick change to, let say, fix a typo. Using php mail(), obviously. I've tough of 2 ways, one simple, and one.... let just say, pretty heavy... cough. the 3rd one was inspired by Implementing Email Notification but really doesn't look appealing to me to send bunch of email at once. Use a timestamp to check if another change was made in the 'let say' last 5 minutes. Record the last change, and compare it to the new one. Could be usefull for backup at the same time since i'll have to save the change somewhere, but text can be long and making an sql search would be painfull. Wouldn't it? Use cron to send changes every x minutes... convince me if you ythink it is a suitable solution. Any ideas, comment or suggestion of your own? Looking forward for your inputs, and since i now registered, i'll do my best to help around. Cheers, all llt

  • Mysql database structure...

    - by Patrick
    I'm creating a members site, and I'm currently working on the user Preference settings. Should I create a table with all the preference fields (about 17 fields) or should I include them in the main member table along with the account settings? Is there a limit as to how many fields I should have in a table? currently the member table has about 21 fields... not sure if its okay to add another 17 more fields when I can easily just put them in another table. It'll take more coding to pull up the data though... any sugguestions?

  • Possibly simple PHP/MYSQL issue with retrieving and showing data

    - by envoys
    I have been racking my brains over this for a while now. Here is the data i have in the sql data base as an example: ID | TYPE | DATA 1 | TXT | TEST 2 | PHP | php 3 | JS | JAVASCRIPT That is just an example, there are multiple listing for TXT, PHP and JS throughout the table. What I want to do is retrive all the data and display it all into separate drop down/select boxes. Meaning, select box one would list all data with type TXT, select box two would list all data with type PHP and select box 3 would list all data with type JS. The only way I have came about doing this is doing individual sql queries for each different type. I know there is a way to do it all in 1 query and then display it the way I want to but I just can't seem to figure out how and I know its going to drive me nuts when someone helps and I see just how they did it. Thanks for the input.

  • MySQL Query : Advise Needed.

    - by Rachel
    "SELECT id as Id from dbTable WHERE code = ? AND CURDATE() BETWEEN start_date AND end_date AND offerId IN ('12321', '12124')"; //Passing arguments for the query $args = array_merge(array(51342),$offerid); //Execute the prepared query $statement->execute($args); Now array(51342) represents combination of code+value, aside my database has value, code columns and so I want a query which would look logically like "SELECT id as Id from dbTable WHERE code and value (Note here I do not know the syntax, what am looking at is (code+value = ?), please advise on query) = ? AND CURDATE() BETWEEN start_date AND end_date AND offerId IN ('12321', '12124')";

  • MySQL charset issue.

    - by Shagymoe
    I'm not sure exactly why this happened, but I'm assuming it was an dump and import. The db is full of characters like — for commas and such. I've tried various solutions on the web, but nothing seems to work. I've verified that the html header specifies utf8. Any ideas on how I can get the entire db back to normal characters?

  • delete row from mysql through generated table with records

    - by HennySmafter
    I am using 2 pages. On one page it generates a table with the records and a delete button. After pressing delete it goes to the second page which should delete the record. But it doesn't. Below is the code that I am using. PS: The code is adapted from a tutorial I found through Google a while ago. delete_overzicht.php <?php // Load Joomla! configuration file require_once('../../../configuration.php'); // Create a JConfig object $config = new JConfig(); // Get the required codes from the configuration file $server = $config->host; $username = $config->user; $password = $config->password; $database = $config->db; // Connect to db $con = mysqli_connect($server,$username,$password,$database); if (!$con){ die('Could not connect: ' . mysqli_error($con)); } mysqli_select_db($con,$database); // Get results $result = mysqli_query($con,"SELECT * FROM cypg8_overzicht"); echo "<table border='1' id='example' class='tablesorter'><thead><tr><th>Formulier Id</th><th>Domeinnaam</th><th>Bedrijfsnaam</th><th>Datum</th><th>Periode</th><th>Subtotaal</th><th>Dealernaam</th><th>Verwijderen</th></tr></thead><tbody>"; while($row = mysqli_fetch_array($result)) { echo "<tr>"; echo "<td>" . $row['formuliernummer'] . "</td>"; echo "<td>" . $row['domeinnaam'] . "</td>"; echo "<td>" . $row['bedrijfsnaam'] . "</td>"; echo "<td>" . $row['datum'] . "</td>"; echo "<td>" . $row['periode'] . "</td>"; echo "<td> &euro; " . $row['subtotaal'] . "</td>"; echo "<td>" . $row['dealercontactpersoon'] . "</td>"; echo "<td><a href='delete.php?id=" . $row['id'] . "'>Verwijderen </a></td>"; echo "</tr>"; } echo "</tbody></table>"; mysqli_close($con); ?> delete.php <?php // Load Joomla! configuration file require_once('../../../configuration.php'); // Create a JConfig object $config = new JConfig(); // Get the required codes from the configuration file $server = $config->host; $username = $config->user; $password = $config->password; $database = $config->db; // Connect to db $con = mysqli_connect($server,$username,$password,$database); if (!$con){ die('Could not connect: ' . mysqli_error($con)); } mysqli_select_db($con,$database); // Check whether the value for id is transmitted if (isset($_GET['id'])) { // Put the value in a separate variable $id = $_GET['id']; // Query the database for the details of the chosen id $result = mysqli_query($con,"DELETE * FROM cypg8_overzicht WHERE id = $id"); } else { die("No valid id specified!"); } ?> Thanks to everyone who is willing to help!

  • MySQL Group Results by day using timestamp

    - by Webnet
    I need to take the following query and pull the total order counts and sum of the orders grouped by day. I'm storing everything using timestamps. SELECT COUNT(id) as order_count, SUM(price + shipping_price) as order_sum, DAY(FROM_UNIXTIME(created)) as day FROM `order` WHERE '.implode(' AND ', $where).' I need to group by DAY but when I do for this past weekend's sales it takes my order_count and makes it 1 instead of 3. How can I pull the above values grouped by day? NOTE: The implode is used ONLY to define the time period (WHERE created = TIMESTAMP AND <= TIMESTAMP)

  • mysql database design: threads and replies

    - by ajsie
    in my forum i have threads and replies. one thread has multiple replies. but then, a reply can be a reply of an reply (like google wave). because of that a reply has to have a column "reply_id" so it can point to the parent reply. but then, the "top-level" replies (the replies directly under the thread) will have no parent reply. so how can i fix this? how should the columns be in the reply table (and thread table). at the moment it looks like this: threads: id title body replies: id thread_id (all replies will belong to a thread) reply_id (here lies the problem. the top-level replies wont have a parent reply) body what could a smart design look like to enable reply a reply?
