• Where are the Entity Framework t4 templates for Data Annotations?

  I have been googling this non stop for 2 days now and can't find a single complete, ready to use, fully implemented t4 template that generates DataAnnotations. Do they even exist? I generate POCOs with the standard t4 templates. The actual database table has metadata that describes some of the validation rules, eg not null, nvarchar(25), etc. So all I want is a t4 template that can take my table and generate a POCO with DataAnnotations, eg public class Person { [Required] [StringLength(255)] public FirstName {get;set} } It is a basic and fundamental requirement, surely I can not be the first person in the entire world to have this requirement? I don't want to re-invent the wheel here. Yet I haven't found it after search high and low for days. This must be possible (and hopefully must be available somewhere to just download) - it would be criminally wrong to have to manually type in these annotations when the metadata for them already exists in the database.

• UINavigationBar height

  In my app I work with an UINavigationController. I've added it to the window (MainWindow.xib, with IB) and simulated on my main view (in IB: Simulated User Elements / Top Bar / Navigation Bar). Navigation bar is displayed, but its height isn't standard. At least in IB it is bigger than in launched app. What's wrong? And how can I restore height to the initial state (as in IB)? P.S.: I know that I can set it directly from code. But this way looks like a "crutch".

  I'd like to edit an object like the one below. I'd like the UsersSelectedList populated with one or more Users from the UsersGrossList. Using the standard edit-views in mvc, I get only strings and booleans (not shown below) mapped. Many of the examples I find on google utilizes early releases of the mvc framework whereas I use the official 1.0 release.   I experiment with a lot of open source software and I've noticed a fair amount of server type applications in the open source world use libevent to facilitate event-based processing rather than spawn multiple threads to handle requests. I also do a lot of .NET programming (it's my core job function), and I'm interested in learning how libevent relates to the .NET event model. Are events in .NET the equivalent of libevent for C programs? Should I try to learn libevent and attempt to use it in custom .NET server applications or is using the standard .NET event model basically the same thing?

I have created scrollbar style (using standard scroll bard template - Blend 2) I am not sure how to apply this style "MyScrollStyle" to a ListBox Template . I saw on ListBox template they have Scroll Viewer -- which should contain the scrollbar Assuming it is something simple as ---Content Added--- After going through lot of xaml in template edit I kind of understood how to apply style. • WPF Custom TextBox ContextMenuOpening Problem

  I've got an issue with a custom control that I've written not firing it's ContextMenuOpening event when I hook it up programatically. The control is basically a wrapper for the standard TextBox: public class MyTextBox : TextBox { public MyTextBox() { this.ContextMenuOpening += new ContextMenuEventHandler(MyTextBox_ContextMenuOpening); } void MyTextBox_ContextMenuOpening(object sender, ContextMenuEventArgs e) { MessageBox.Show("ContextMenuOpening event fired"); } } There's nothing suspect either about the XAML: <local:MyTextBox Height="25" Width="300"/> For some reason though, I can never get the event to fire. I'm trying to intercept the context menu so I can alter it (it's context sensitive) and really am trying to avoid having to hook up the event everywhere the control is used - surely this is possible?

• Intellij Community can't use http proxy for Maven

  I have Intellij IDEA Community installed on a Linux box that needs to use an authenticated proxy to get to the Internet. I have a system-wide proxy on the box that works, and I have the proxy configured in ~/.m2/settings.xml. Maven correctly uses the proxy when I run try it from the command-line. I have the same proxy configured within Intellij and it gives me the plugins listing correctly. But when I try to sync with the Maven repository withing Intellij I keep getting this: [WARNING] Unable to get resource 'org.codehaus.mojo:hibernate3-maven-plugin:pom:2.2' from repository restlet (http://maven.restlet.org): Authorization failed: Not authorized by proxy. I went to Settings-Maven and put in the proxy info as properties and that didn't work. I can see by looking at those settings that Intellij is reading my ~./m2/settings.xml fine because it knows where my local repo is (it's in a non-standard place). Anyone know how I can get this working?

• Android daemon process

  Is it possible (without violating any licenses) to write a native C/C++ application on top of the Android OS and make it run as a daemon process? There are already several daemon process' running which one can see with the 'ps' command, the legal part concerns me the most. And also the lack of documentation on how to exactly do this. For the writing part, I guess one could use basic Linux programming concepts, since Android supports at least to some level the standard Posix API. To make it run as the phone boots, some modifications is of course required in init as well. I have no plans to have this app in the Android Market, so installing it manually to the phone is not a problem. As long as it does not require re-compiling the whole OS or kernel. I really appreciate all info on this topic, since there's isn't much available. Thanks.

  I would like to use or emulate a button like the gps button in the bottom left corner of the standard maps application on the iphone OS. The button behaves like a toggle button where gps is enabled or disabled depending on whether it is pushed and it may hold a small spinner component while the gps is finding your position. Does anyone know if this component can be easily constructed using default components? If no, what would be the best way to develop such a component? Is the crosshair/target icon a generic icon that I can re-use?

  Starting new project using EJB 3 / JPA, mainly stateless session beans and batch jobs. I've used JUnit in the past on standard Java webapps and it seemed to work pretty well. In EJB2 unit testing was a pain and required a running container such as JBoss to make the calls into. Now that we're going to be working in EJB3 / JPA I'd like to know what companies are using to write and run these tests. Are Junit and JMock still considered relevant or are there other newer frameworks that have come around that we should investigate?

• WCF client service call very slow

  I have a WCF client (running on Win7) pointing to a WebSphere service. All is good from a test harness but when my calls to the service originate from an HttpHandler or a standard aspx page the calls are extremely slow (it takes up to 10 times longer) and not just the first time. If I send the exact same envelopes through Soap-UI or without an HttpHandler it's all good. If the envelope is the same the only thing left is the HttpHeader. What should I be looking for and is there some config setting that might do the trick? Any help appreciated!

  I have an SQL Server integration Services (SSIS) package using the standard Event Log provider (yes, the event log! I know we can use SQL etc...) The default "Source" of the log events is "SQLISPackage100" but I want it to be something like "AppName" so that the errors are more visible between the different packages when viewing the event log (also for MOM use). Event Type: Error Event Source: SQLISPackage100 Event Category: None ... Description: Package "Foo" failed. I hope the answer is simple, I simply cannot find it, but does anyone know how to change the text of the Event Log Source name to something more meaningful? PK :-)

  I am working with v4 of the Enterprise Application block and I am trying to learn how to access the Application Settings that I have added using the Enterprise Library Configuration tool. It's as if the code does not recognize the settings even though I can see them in the app.config. I DO have a Settings.Settings designer added and I CAN get to those settings the standard way even though the settings added in that designer do NOT show up in the app.config like they normally would if I am NOT using the Enterprise Block How do I access the App Settings that I added with the Enterprise Block?

  I want implement a layout in my ipad application that has a uitable view that scrolls left and right rather then up and down : So rather than row 1 row 2 row 3 ( scrolling vertically ) It would be : row 1, row2, row 3 (scrolling horizontally ) I've seen that UItableView is designed to only do vertical scrolling so doing a transform does not give the desired effect. Is there a standard way to do this taking advantage of a datasource provider like uitableview provides? However, some developers feel that it is best to annotate code with metadata using xml files - others prefer annotations but would use metadata to override annotations in source code. I am writing a Java framework that uses annotations. The question is: is there a standard way to define and parse metadata from xml files. I think this is something every framework that uses annotations could benefit from but I can seem to find something like this on the Internet. And since this is a programming site, i'm not literally asking for the location where IE stores passwords, but which API ie uses to save passwords. At first i assumed that Microsoft was using the standard api: CredRead CredWrite which is used to save domain and generic program/web-site credentials. CredRead/CredWrite turn around and use CryptProtectData CryptUnprotectData to encrypt data with the current user's account. CredRead/CredWrite then store the data in some magical location, which contents you can see from the control panel: But i don't see IE passwords in there. So ie doesn't store passwords using CredRead/CredWrite. What api does IE use to store passwords, and if it uses CryptProtectData, where does it then store the protected data?

  The current form is here. It is not complete, and only a couple options will work. Select "Image CD" and then any resolution and click "Add to Order." The order will be recorded on the server-side, but on the client-side I need to reset the product drop-down to "{select}" so that the user will know that they need to select another product. This is consistant with the idea that the sub-selections disappear. I don't know whether I should be using ASP postback or standard form submittal, and most of the fields need to be reset when the user adds an item to the order.

  Is it possible to connect an iPhone to another iPhone or any other network client talking that game's protocol. I was thinking that I could use the same NAT Traversal technique used in the XBox 360 to host games on users XBox's through Firewalls. For NAT traversal to work effectively I'd have to have a central server that would allow clients to "broadcast" that they were hosting so that another client could initiate the NAT connection.
