    I'm trying to install Moose (a CPAN module) on my Macbook Pro. It finds a dependency on Sub-Name, and when it tries to install this, gets the following error messages. Any idea as to how I can cure this?     Hi We have a client that is sending xml messages that are produced from two separate schemas. We would like to process them in a single application, since the content is related. We cannot modify the client's schema that they are using to produce the XML messages... We can modify our own copies of the two schema (or binding.jxb) -- if it helps -- in order to enable our JAXB processing of messages created from the two separate schemas. Unfortunately, both schemas have the same root element name (see below).     Hi All, I have created a deployment file(msi) using VS Setup project. This msi file create a shortcut in desktop.During deployment I have added some predefined data files (.xml/text) into it.Application shortcut working fine i.e. it open the application and running fine. But once I delete some data files from installation location, and then click application shortcut, it started installing the application and copied all those files into the original installation location again.   • Why is the value of __name__ changing after assignment to sys.modules[__name__]?

    While trying to do something similar to what's in the ActiveState recipe titled Constants in Python by Alex Martelli, I ran into an unexpected side-effect that assigning a class instance to an entry in sys.modules apparently has in Python 2.7 -- namely that doing so apparent changes the value of __name__ to None as illustrated in the following code fragment: class _test(object): pass import sys print '__name__: %r' % __name__ # __name__: '__main__' sys.modules[__name__] = _test() print '__name__: %r' % __name__ # __name__: None if __name__ == '__main__': # never executes... import test print "done" I'd like to understand why this is happening. I don't believe it was that way in Python 2.6 and earlier versions since I have some older code where apparently the if __name__ == '__main__': conditional worked as expected following the assignment (but no longer does). FWIW, I also noticed that the name _class is getting rebound from a class object to None, too, after the assignment. Also seems odd to me that they're being rebound to 'None' rather than disappearing altogether... Update: I'd like to add that any workarounds for achieving the effect of if __name__ == '__main__':, given what happens would be greatly appreciated. TIA!

    A recent stackoverflow question, which I didn’t bookmark and now I’m unable to find, inspired me to implement an extension method for Enumerable that allows to insert a constant element between each pair of elements in a sequence. Kind of what String.Join does for strings, but maintaining an enumerable as the return value. Having done the single element part I got a bit carried away and ended up expanding it adding overloads to support interleaving elements of another sequence and support for a predicate to control when interleaving takes place. I have to confess that I did this for fun and now I can’t think of any real usage scenario, nonetheless, it may prove useful for someone.   • Vanilla WPF application hangs on one customer's machine

    At a customer, one of our WPF applications started to hang. When trying to reproduce the problem with a minimal working example, I discovered that even the most basic (non-trivial) WPF application will hang on that machine. Example A: Create a new C# WPF project in Visual Studio 2008. Change nothing, compile it and run it on the customer's machine. It will run. Example B: Take Example A, and add a TextBlock to the main form Window1: <Window ...> <Grid> <TextBlock>Test</TextBlock> </Grid> </Window> Compile the application and run it on the customer's machine. It will hang: The title bar and the window border is visible, the inside is transparent and the window does not react to anything (cannot be moved or closed). The application must be shut down using the task manager. Obviously, this customer's WPF is broken. Is this a known issue, i.e., has anyone encountered it before and already knows how to solve it (e.g. reinstall .net 3.5 SP1, etc.)? The development machine is W7SP1, the customer's machine is XP (probably SP3, didn't check).

    Hello, I need improve the traceability in a Web Application that usually run on fixed db user. The DBA should have a fast access for the information about the heavy users that are degrading the database. 5 years ago, I implemented a .NET ORM engine which makes a log of user and the server using the DBMS_APPLICATION_INFO package. Using a wrapper above the connection manager with the following code: DBMS_APPLICATION_INFO.SET_MODULE('" + User + " - " + appServerMachine + "',''); Each time that a connection get a connection from the pool, the package is executed to log the information in the V$SESSION. Has anyone discover or implemented a solution for this problem using the Toplink or Hibernate? Is there a default implementation for this problem?     I am writing a small console application (will be ran as a service) that basically starts a Java app when it is running, shuts itself down if the Java app closes, and shuts down the Java app if it closes. I think I have the first two working properly, but I don't know how to detect when the .NET application is shutting down so that I can shutdown the Java app prior to that happening. Google search just returns a bunch of stuff about detecting Windows shutting down. It offers a rich set of features, like: Dynamic typing First-class functions Nested functions Closures Functions as methods Functions as Object constructors Prototype-based Objects-based (almost everything is an object) Regex Array and Object literals It seems to me that almost everything can be achieved with this kind of language, you can also emulate OO programming, since it provides great freedom and many different coding styles. With more software-oriented custom functionalities (I/O, FileSystem, Input devices, etc.) I think it will be great to develop applications with. Though, as far as I know, it's only used in web development or in existing softwares as a scripting language only. Only recently, maybe thanks to the V8 Engine, it's been used more for other kind of tasks (see node.js for example). Why until now it's only be relegated only to web development? What is keeping it away from software development?
