    How do I encourage/make Latex typeset some portion of text so that it will all appear on a consecutive even-page, odd-page pair of pages? With trial and error, \nopagebreak can be coaxed into doing this, but is there a strategy that Just Works? Something like a samepage environment would be ideal, but one that: Will force a pagebreak on odd pages if that is needed to get all the text on facing pages; Allows up to one page break anywhere in the environment body, and fails noisily if that can't be ensured.

    Hello, One way to increase scalability of the server application is to run IO-bound operation (reading files, sockets, web requests, database requests etc) asynchronously. This does not mean run then in the ThreadPool which will just block threads while operation is being executed. The correct way is to use asynchronous API (BeginRead, BeginGetResponse, BeginExecuteReader etc). The problem is well described in CLR vi C# book. Here is some article about asynchronous queries in Linq to SQL. Are any ways to execute Nhibernate query asynchonously? What about Linq to NHibernate? Thank you, Andrey

    Hi, so currently i'm using pods to create some individual pages for a log, filled with custom stuff. now i want to use the comments-system for each of this pages e.g.: mydomain.com/podpages/page1 mydomain.com/podpages/page2 mydomain.com/podpages/page3 this are not pages created with wordpress so simply adding <?php comments_template(); ?> is not working. any ideas how to solve this problem? thanks in advance please leave a comment if something is unclear :)

    Hi, I've spent many many hours tonight reading up on implementing the event-based asynchronous pattern Unfortunately, I haven't been able to find any articles at all on witting a class that only supports one Async invocation. Every example I've seen assumes that a method call will be called more than once and thus, should have a userState object passed into the MethodNameAsync You'll see that MS makes mention of this in the third bullet point on this article http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms228974(VS.80).aspx under the "Simultaneously Executing Operations" heading. But I'm confused. Should I be using AsyncOperation and AsyncOperationManager classes to have asynchronous functionality where a method can only be called by one thread at a time? A link would also be nice :) Thanks

The given example works for PdfReader but not for PdfCopy. Edit: Why do I need PdfCopy? I tried copying a word pdf export. Some word hyperlinks will not work when you try to copy pages with PdfReader. Only PdfCopy transfers all needed page informations. Edit: (SOLVED) You need to use reader.GetPageRotation(i);

  • make IIS 7.5 cache static content files over diferent pages

    On a Windows 2008 R2, using DNS and IIS I've established my development test server; i.e. I'll have a web application that I can browse on http://test.dev I've moved all the static content files like images, js files and css files into another application which is visible on http://cdn.test.dev test.dev, uses cdn.test.dev urls like http://cdn.test.dev/js/jquery.js to load js, css and images. When I first load "~/" of test.dev, all files will load with a response code of 200; when I press F5 in Firefox, all files, except the "~/default.aspx", will load with 304 response code; but pressing Ctrl+F5 loads them again with a 200 code; if I browse another url like "~/pages/" in test.dev, all of those static files will reload with a 200 code... Is this normal or I'm doing something wrong? Actually, I'm looking for a behavior like this: I want the client to load http://cdn.test.dev/js/jquery.js, only once. I want the client's browser to use this jquery.js file, from cache, in all other pages of test.dev Is this possible?     I would like to set all virtualhosts on my server down for maintenance for some time. The temporary page should contain something like sorry, the page www.xxx.com is down for maintenance. you can see the cached version here: Then the trick: the user should then see the cached page from a cache like googlecache or similar for the requested page as long as the server is down. This would show the correct content on pages, that are static anyway and give the visitor the needed content in many cases, while I can shut down mysql and other services that would usually be needed to show that pages. How can I set a global page on all virtualhosts, that parses the original requested URL through PHP?

    How many times have you printed an email just to have the last page be 2 or 3 lines of a person's signature (or worse, the "This is confidential" copy inserted by corporate mailservers)? How many times has the last page contained just the footer of the website? Does anyone know of a utility or print driver that can help avoid printing blank or nearly-blank pages? I am not looking for techniques for avoiding this in specific programs -- if I take the effort of doing print preview and then adjusting the pages to be printed, then of course I can avoid it. What I want something I can install that, whenever I push "Print" to any of the various printers I print to with my laptop, it automatically says "hmmm... I bet he doesn't really want that page which is 95% empty" and possibly prompts me to say "do you really want to waste paper on this?"

While login from my application, Im setting the session and redirecting to pages controller, but there I could not able to get the session. If I redirect to some other controller, Im getting the session over there. I have a table with name "pages", and when the user clicks on the links (passing page name), Im taking data from that table and displaying using pages_controller. Can I not use "pages" as table name ? Or session won't work in pages_controller ?

  • Ubuntu firefox: some web-pages stuck on loading

    Just installed Ubuntu 10.04 beta, installation went fine and all programs are working smooth. Just this one weird network problem. Some sites simply are not opening and loading forever. For example, google.com and youtube are working well, but ubuntu.com and many other are not opening at all, or are loaded partly. One thing i noticed is that on all of those pages on firefox status bar is message "Looking up for www.google-analytics.com" (or similar remote resources) message appearing all the time (even on this page, but it somehow has loaded and working). I should mention that i tried those pages to open on windows OS on this same machine, and they opened without problems. So i am guessing that it has to be some sort of network configuration problems on Ubuntu. What could cause such problem?

Here is what it looks like (simplified) public class S3FileStore { public void PutFile(string ID, Stream content) { //do stuff } } In my client app, I want to be able to call: var s3 = new() S3FileStore(); s3.PutFile ("myId", File.OpenRead(@"C:\myFile1")); s3.PutFile ("myId", File.OpenRead(@"C:\myFile2")); s3.PutFile ("myId", File.OpenRead(@"C:\myFile3")); I want this to be an asynchronous operation - I want the S3FileStore to handle this (i don't want my caller to have to execute PutFile asynchronously so to speak) but, i want to be able to trap exceptions / tell if the operation completed for each file. I've looked at event based async calls, especially this: http://blogs.windowsclient.net/rendle/archive/2008/11/04/functional-shortcuts-2-event-based-asynchronous-pattern.aspx However, I can't see how to call my PutFile (void) method? Are there any better examples?

    I have a UIScrollView with 2 pages, and I can scroll horizontally between them. However, on one of my pages, I have a UIDatePicker, and the scroll view is intercepting the vertical touch events so I can no longer manipulate the date picker (except by clicking or tapping). Is there some way to tell the ScrollView to send the vertical touch events to the date picker, but send the horizontal touch events to the scroll view to switch pages?

  • Usercontrol access javascript from a Content's Page's Master Page

    Hello all I have a problem. I have a masterpage that all of my Content pages inherit from. Within this masterpage I have a script tag pointing to the javascript file folder "~/Scripts/validation.js" On my content pages I use different usercontrols that require the use of many of the functions within the validation.js file however if I dont put the tag and the javascript functions within a contentholder on the contentpage the usercontrols do not see these functions and I get errors like "OnNameValidation" is not defined. Of course I can copy the javscript code into all of the pages but that's 30+ pages and a maintenance nightmare if I find a bug in one of the javscript functions. So the question (if you haven't already figured out from my long dissertation) is how can I declare the script tag with the path to the validation.js file so that contentpages and their usercontrols etc. can access the functions/code.   • Pages partially load on rapid refresh

    I recently set up a VPS slice with 256MB to run a LAMP stack (Ubuntu 11.04, Apache2, Mysql, PHP5). So far I'm only running a simple Wordpress site on an IP-based virtual host I set up. The performance is excellent, but I've noticed that if I send multiple HTTP requests from the same IP in a short time period, only partial pages are rendered. Then if I wait a bit and refresh the page, the entire page loads again. I noticed this behaviour when accessing the site from two browsers from my office desktop, but it also presents itself if I quickly navigate the site from a single browser (any browser). I'm guessing this is an Apache phenomenon, as the pages are rendered correctly except under the conditions above, but perhaps I'm wrong here. Could it be my hosting company with some kind of DOS protection in place? As a relative Linux/server noob, I'd really appreciate any insight into what settings in Apache could explain this behaviour, and how I might go about changing it.
