  • automatic push to CDN deployment strategy

    Does anyone have ideas for a strategy to push content to a CDN upon deployment? The key issue I'm facing is that we have a site that is available in various contexts: local development, development server, staging, then finally live. The liver version of the site needs to load assets from a domain, which will be pointed to a CDN: assets.domain.com. However, we will have numerous references to the assets pointing to a relative folder, e.g. /images/ in css, possibly in js, and in HTML & source. Our new site will use capistrano for deployment and it may be that we can hook in another build tool (apache ant?) or some custom script to search / replace paths. I am wondering if anyone has had to deal with this issue before and what solutions you put in place to automate managing the CDN in terms of pushing content up to the CDN and managing html & css references to assets in the CDN.   • Git + Capistrano = Automatic Release Notes Generator ?

    We use git (github) and capistrano (like 99% of the Rails shops out there) to deploy our app to production. What I'd like to do is, after every cap * deploy generate a text file containing all the git commit comments since the last deploy. I can then take that list of commit comments, clean it up, and put it somewhere for consumption. "git log" http://book.git-scm.com/3_reviewing_history_-_git_log.html has plenty of options for fetching log messages, but I don't see an easy way in capistrano to return the current and previous commits, or even the last date/time a deployment occurred, so I can pass that to git log Thoughts? I can't be the first one doing this... Thanks!

  • How do I turn off automatic saving of a vim file with a ~ suffix

    In my environment, I share vim configuration with other developers (and have my own configuration additions as well) in various .vimrc files. Some places in the environment, I edit a file in vim and automagically a copy of that file with a trailing tilde suffix appears. What vim options control this? I'd like to turn the feature off, as it just clutters up my directories and spoils auto-completion on the command line. Thanks.

    Hi all, Please help regarding the following issue. I have enabled the "Block popup" option in browser. We are doing a session validation using a background ajax call to check the session is active or not. If the session is not active for a desired interval a popup window will come for notification. Now comming to the problem . since the session notification popup is comming automatically without any client interaction, This popup is blocked by the browser. But if a client clicks anyother popup window in the form that popup window will not be blocked by the browser.

  • MySQL: automatic rollback on transaction failure

    Is there any way to set MySQL to rollback any transaction on first error/warning automatically? Now if everything goes well, it commits, but on failure it leaves transaction open and on another start of transaction it commits incomplete changes from failed transaction. (I'm executing queries from php, but i don't want to check in php for failure, as it would make more calls between mysql server and webserver.) Thank you

    Hi all, I´m trying to write a function what detect this relation between the variables I have got in the workspace: v1 - fft(v2) = 0 Where v1, v2 are variables of my workspace. Sometimes I need to know which variables have a certain numerical relation. If I have thirty, I don´t want to be looking for this relation in "manual way", just itroducing a sentence for each pair of different variables. I would like a function in which I introuce (or I modify this function every time I need it) the sentence (for instance what I wrote before) and the function show me the pair of variables a I am looking for. I would like to automate this. How can I do this? My problem is that it is associated with my Facebook account and then it is not running in cron job or nothing is posted. Can I use my login data to a file which the Cronjob can always log in?

  • Automatic Data sorting/ analysis in Excel

    I have data in the form of four columns. The first three columns represent time, value1, value 2. The fourth column is binary, all 0's or 1's. Is there a way to tell excel to delete time, value1 and value 2, when the corresponding binary value in column four is 0? I know this is a lot easier in C++ or matlab, but for reasons beyond my control, I must do it in excel.

  • VIM Disable Automatic Newline At End Of File

    So I work in a PHP shop, and we all use different editors, and we all have to work on windows. I use vim, and everyone in the shop keeps complaining that whenever I edit a file there is a newline at the bottom. I've searched around and found that this is a documented behavior of vi & vim... but I was wondering if there was some way to disable this feature. (It wouldbe best if I could disable it for specific file extensions). If anyone knows about this, that would be great!

    I'm using the Colorbox module in Drupal 7. I'm opening an external website. I can make it work with a link. Click here, then click the "colorbox popup" link at the bottom, middle column. The client would like this to open automatically when the page opens.     Want to develop a system accurately counting people that go through a normal 1-2m wide door. and twitter whenever people goes in or out and tells how many people remain inside. Now, Twitter part is easy, but people counting is difficult. There is some semi existing counting solution, but they do not quite fit my needs. My idea/algorithm: Should I get some infra-red camera mounting on top of my door and constantly monitoring, and divide the camera image into several grid and calculating they entering and gone? can you give me some suggestion and starting point?
