  • Is it possible to backup an SQL Database hosted on an Azure VM, to our internal DPM2012?

    I've got an SQL database on an azure VM (non domain) that i'd like to backup to our internal DPM 2012 server. I've installed the DPM agent on the Azure VM, setup DCOM to use only the ports 5000 to 5025 on both the VM and the DPM server, created the 135, 5000-5025, 5718 5719 endpoints on azure and on the VM's firewall. When trying to add this agent to the DPM server, I end up with an error, "Unable to contact the protection Agent on server .cloudapp.net" I know there is some sort of connection between them, as using a wrong password gives me an Invalid Credentials error. The error seems to be DCOM related : When trying to connect to the Azure VM from the DPM server using VBEMTest, i get an Error "0x800706ba The RPC server is unavailable", but access is deneid when using wrong credentials ) What am i missing ? Has someone been able to achieve this kind of setup ? Thanks for your help !

  • Can I replicate data between mySQL and SQL Server/SQL Azure?

    I have a replicated mySQL setup running happily on Amazon AWS, making user data available locally in various regions. Now I'm faced with an app that needs to go up on Microsoft Azure and I need to replicate the data over to there as well. So that's annoying. I am faced with several options: Replicate from mySQL to SQL Azure/SQL Server seems like it would be lovely - is this possible? I'd consider using a third party tool and paying $$ if I had to. We're not using anything complicated in the db feature set, it's just data in tables. Get mySQL working on Microsoft Azure - which seems really dicey at best. All the HOWTOs I can find say "this is possible but you really shouldn't try this for production apps." Go non-realtime and do syncs from mySQL to SQL Azure, which may be somewhat expensive and slower. Rip out all my mySQL on Amazon and use SQL Server there, which would make Baby Jesus cry. Has anyone gotten mySQL to SQL Azure/SQL Server replication or syncing working? Or have any other approaches (a NoSQL solution that replicates and might meet our but-we-need-to-join-some-tables needs that can easily be run on Amazon and Azure)?

  • How to turn off Windows Azure's "This copy of Windows is not genuine" message?

    Is there any setting/configuration item to avoid Windows Azure from printing that error on the screen or detecting it? I've put a screenshot below that shows the message when you RDP into the web role. My web role runs on Windows Azure Guest OS 1.17 (variant of Windows Server 2008 SP2) Background: I was explaining our architecture to some outside engineers (NDA'd and all) and had to demystify the webrole as they were unfamiliar with Azure. I RDP'd into the VMs running the Web Role when one of their engineers gasped "are you guys running pirated copies of Windows in the cloud?" I also noticed that within the RDP screen, the Azure machines had "This copy of Windows is not genuine" on the bottom left corner. Now obviously, Microsoft is running their own OS in their own datacenter with no influence from me. So no 'piracy' here, despite that obvious warning. However, they seemed so distracted by this ("how can it be? really? hmmm?") that we wasted more time talking about it than the actual matter at work. Like I said, they have little exposure to Azure but have value add elsewhere. I want to get rid of this so I don't have to explain this in the future. PS Microsoft: If you're going to modify Windows Server <XYZ> into Windows Azure <A.B> , you should also modify the code that verifies product integrity.

    During the initial release of the HadoopOnAzure, Microsoft had provided the C#Isotope SDK as a programatic interface to the Hadoop cluster on the Azure. After the HDInsight release this is removed from the downoads. More over while trying with the previous version of the sdk we get a 500 - Internal Server Error. Any idea if this services is disabled? If so whats the alternative way to programatically interface with the HDInsight Cluster on Azure?

    I am looking for a tool that will allow me to monitor and control programs running inside a Windows VM from the Linux host machine. I realize that this is similar to what a rootkit would do, and I am completely happy to use some hacker software if it provides the necessary functionality (and if I can get it in source-code form). If I can't find something, I'll have to write it using C. Probably an embedded HTTP server running on an odd port and doing some kind of XMLRPC thing. Here is the basic functionality I need: Get list of running processes Kill a process. Start a process Read/write/create/delete files I would like to: - Read contents of screen - Read all controls on screen. - Send arbitrary click to a Windows control. Does anything like this exist?

    Getting an Exception in the BitmapFactory. Not sure what is the issue. (Well I can guess the issue, but not sure why its happening) ERROR/AndroidRuntime(7906): java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: bitmap size exceeds VM budget ERROR/AndroidRuntime(7906): at android.graphics.BitmapFactory.decodeFile(BitmapFactory.java:295) My code is pretty straight forward. I defined an XML layout w/ a default image. I try to load a bm on the SDCard (if present - it is). If not it shows the default image. Anyway..   • Eight New Oracle Database Assemblies Ready to Run In Your Oracle VM Cloud with Oracle Enterprise Manager 12c

The database assemblies are already patched to Oracle recommended levels. Customers running EM 12c in online mode (i.e. connected to My Oracle Support) will see the assemblies in their EM console (screenshot below). They can then deploy the Assemblies using the Self-Service Provisioning outlined in the "Cloud Administration Guide". The EM12c agent will be deployed along with the assemblies, so the databases will be managed automatically from the onset. You can also get a general demo of the cloud management features (including assembly deployment) in http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/oem/cloud-mgmt/index.html. When I comment out the sb1.getQueue('serialnumbers', function(error, queue){ and just have it return without sending a queue message it performs in less than 1 second. Why is that? Is my approach to using the azure sdk service bus correct? Any help would be appreciated.

  • Can IIS (Ideally Azure) do SSL Proxying?

    My team has been asked to add a new feature to a project we're working on, and none of can find authoritative details on whether it's possible with Windows/IIS. The short of it is that we're hoping to have customers update their DNS with a CNAME record to point their website to our server instead of theirs (they why's are trivial - it's what the app does on behalf of your site). We're using a reverse proxy with several custom modules to serve particular content from the original servers. So far everything works perfectly until we encounter SSL. Is there a way to have IIS serve up an SSL certificate from another server? In other words, is there a way to be a trusted man in the middle? I'm hoping that's possible so that we don't have to require all our clients to re-issue their SSL certs. Frankly, we don't want to have to manage hundreds of certs. I'd also like to avoid a UCC situation if there's a way to because it seems to require re-creating the cert each time a client is added. So, any pointers on proxying/hosting SSL (or even dynamic SSL hosting like http://www.globalsign.com/cloud/) would be appreciated.

I am going over this blog post. at Step 5, i am supposed to run Powershell commands so i can connect the ADFS to Office 365. Set-MsolAdfscontext -Computer <AD FS server FQDN> Convert-MsolDomainToFederated -DomainName <domain name> i am unable to determine the FQDN for the ADFS server. i searched around a lot on the web, but was not able to locate the solution. i am just getting started with all configuration of ADFS and Office 365, but was not able to find out a solution. any answers?

    As stated on the official site, Oracle in 2009, acquired a provider of server virtualization management software named Virtual Iron; you can find all the acquisition details at this link. Into the FAQ on the official site you can also view that, for the future, Oracle plans to fully integrate Virtual Iron technology into Oracle VM products, and any enhancements will be delivered as a part of the combined solution; this is what is going on with Oracle VM 3.x. So, customers started asking us to migrate Virtual Iron guests to Oracle VM. IMPORTANT: This procedure needs a dedicated OVM-Server with no-guests running on top; be careful while execute this procedure on production environments. In these little steps you will find how-to migrate, as fast as possible, your guests between VI ( Virtual Iron ) and Oracle VM; keep in mind that OracleVM has a built-in P2V utility ( Official Documentation )  that you can use to migrate guests between VI and Oracle VM. Concepts: VI repositories.  On VI we have the same "repository" concept as in Oracle VM; the difference between these two products is that VI use a raw-lun as repository ( instead of using ocfs2 and its capabilities, like ref-links ). The VI "raw-lun" repository, with a pure operating-system perspective, may be presented as in this picture: Infact on this "raw-lun" VI create an LVM2 volume-group. The VI "raw-lun" repository, with an hypervisor perspective, may be presented as in this picture: So, the relationships are: LVM2-Volume-Group <-> VI Repository LVM2-Logical-Volume <-> VI guest virtual-disk The first step is to present the VI repository ( raw-lun ) to your dedicated OVM-Server.
