• Scroll up/down while selecting multi-page block of text in Vim through putty

  I'm using vim 6.3.81 on a xterm through putty. When I use set mouse=a , I can scroll through the file , but not select text. When mouse is disabled using set mouse=, I can select text with mouse (automatically copied to a buffer) , but if the text block is over one page long , I can't scroll up/down (and have to select text one screen at a time) !! Is there any way to have the best of both - while selecting text with mouse , if i reach the end of page , it automatically scrolls up/down depending on whether i've reached top/bottom of page and allows me to select text from the next page as well ? I know vim is powerful/flexible enough to do what I want - I just don't know how !! Can anyone help ?

  Is it recommended to count in small loops (where possible) down from length - 1 to zero instead of counting up to length - 1? 1.) Counting down for (int i = a.length - 1; i >= 0; i--) { if (a[i] == key) return i; } 2.) Counting up for (int i = 0; i < a.length; i++) { if (a[i] == key) return i; } The first one is slightly faster that the second one (because comparing to zero is faster) but is a little more error-prone in my opinion. Besides, the first one could maybe not be optimized by future improvements of the JVM. Any ideas on that?

• jQuery click event to make a div slide down and push next div out of viewport

  I'm trying to figure out how to make jQuery slide #content2 down and replace content1 with it while making it look like #content1 is actually being pushed down by #content1 removing it from view... Then the same button that was clicked to make #content2 replace #content1 would also need to do the reverse effect by replacing #content2 with #content1 making them slide up and push each other out of the way... • Colors in Instruments when hunting down memory leaks

  Hi I'm currently hunting down a memory leak in my app for iPhone. I'm using Instruments to track down the code that is causing the leak (becoming more and more a friend of Instruments!). Now Instruments show two lines: one in dark blue (row 146) and one in a lighter blue (150). From some trial and error I get that they are connected somehow, but not good enough at Objective-C and Memory Management yet to really understand how. Does anyone know why different colors are used and what could be my problem? I have tried to release numberForArray but the the app crashes when showing the last line in a picker view. All ideas appreciated! (Posting this I also realize that line 139 is redundant! Se there, already an improvement ;-)

• Best way to reverse bitmap data that is upside down

  Hello, I have a method that I call and it returns bitmap data from a capture device. It returns a pointer to the buffer data as an IntPtr and the buffer length as an int. I know in advance that this bitmap is a 24bpp and its width and height. The problem is that the buffer contains the bitmap data upside down and I need this data to be in the right order (reverse it). What I do is create a for loop and using CopyMemory, I copy each line (stride) of this data from bottom to up to a newly allocated memory space. Is there any way to make it faster than creating more memory each time I receive a new frame? It makes the application get a bit slow and consumes more memory as each bitmap is pretty big. I do this because I use another component that analyses the bitmaps and it doesn't work propertly if the bitmaps are upside down. I'm using .net, c# thanks!

• main content wrapper div get's pushed down the page in IE

  I have a 2 column layout, with the left side for navigation and the right side for the main content. The right side content has a wrapper div that looks like: Now this looks fine in FF and GC, and it IE but if I change the padding to anything over 4px that section gets pushed down below the left navigation. #content { padding:3px; // 4 makes it get pushed down } Does this mean IE has a different way of calculating the width of all my elements? Is this a common problem that has a solution for it?

As you can see the div appears from left down corner but I would like to animate it from bottom to top.   I have a dropdown menu that pulls in text from a database column. The database column can include HTML mark-up. In the drop-down I obviously don't need that in the text. I am working on some jquery and it partially accomplished what I'm looking for.   I want to catch both mouse down and mouse up using gesture recognizer. However, when the mouse down is caught, mouse up is never caught.   I'm a newbie to web programming, so please bear with me. I am using JSF 1.2 and I want to conditionally set the color of the items in my drop down list. In other words, I have a collection of items that, along with a key and a value, also have a boolean property, warning, that is dynamically set by user action. I want the drop down to show all of the items, but those whose warning property is set to true should be displayed in red. I assume I have to extend the SelectItem class to add in the boolean property. How do I then conditionally set the color of the font of those items whose warning property is set to true in my JSP pages? Thanks in advance

  Hi, I have 3 tables : Student , Subject and Score Every student can add 3 Subjects (Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry) marks. The combination of (student_id + subject_id) is added to Score table. i.e., capturing that sudent '1' has added 'Mathematics' marks with the actual score (say 0-100 range) student id : subjectid Score 1 Mathematics 95 The Add page of Score has a "subject" drop down. which is displayed from "subject" table. When the student wants to add the 2nd subject marks, in the add page, he should not be displayed the previoys added subject in the drop down. Can any1 tell me how to do this?

  For some reason, our sharepoint site always goes down on Saturday. It's the stangest thing and I can't figure out why. I'm a total noob at sharepoint and have been thrown into being the go to guy for sharepoint with my current employer. I've tried bouncing IIS on Fridays to see if there is anything I can do before hand. Is there anything that might be scheduled that I may not know about that would cause sharepoint to go down? However, I need to do this with jQuery because I'm using a CSS class for my selector (stupid ASP.NET client ids...). • .NET assembly cache / ngen / jit image warm-up and cool-down behavior

  Hi, I have an Input Method (IME) program built with C#.NET 2.0 DLL through C++/CLI. Since an IME is always attaching to another application, the C#.NET DLL seems not able to avoid image address rebasing. Although I have applied ngen to create a native image of that C#.NET 2.0 DLL and installed it into Global Assembly Cache, it didn't improved much, approximately 12 sec. down to 9 sec. on a slow PIII level PC. Therefore I uses a small application, which loads all the components referenced by the C#.NET DLL at the boot up time, to "warm up" the native image of that DLL. It works fine to speed up the loading time to 0.5 sec. However, it only worked for a while. About 30 min. later, it seems to "cool down" again. Is there any way to control the behavior of GAC or native image to be always "hot"? Is this exactly a image address rebasing problem? Thank you for your precious time. Sincerely, Mike

• Program Structure Design Tools? (Top Down Design)

  I have been looking to expand my methodologies to better involve Unit testing, and i stumbled upon Behavioral Driven Design (Namely Cucumber, and a few others). I am quite intrigued by the concept as i have never been able to properly design top down, only because keeping track of the design gets lost without a decent way to record it. So on that note, in a mostly language agnostic way, are there any useful tools out there i am (probably) unaware of? Eg, i have often been tempted to try building flow charts for my programs, but i am not sure how much that will help, and it seems a bit confusing to me how i could make a complex enough flow chart to handle the logic of a full program, and all its features.. ie, it just seems like flow charts would be limiting in the design scheme.. or possibly grow to an unmaintainable scale. BDD methods are nice, but with a system that is so tied to structure, tying into the language and unit testing seems like a must (for it to be worth it) and it seems to be hard to find something to work well with both Python and Java (my two main languages). So anyway.. on that note, any comments are much appreciated. I have searched around on here and it seems like top down design is a well discussed topic, but i haven't seen too much reference to tools themselves, eg, flow chart programs, etc. I am on Linux, if it matters (in the case of programs).
