  • Unable to create a breakpoint in Eclipse and Tomcat

    Since yesterday, I get a strange error message when I start my Tomcat (6.0.35) under Eclipse Juno (build 20120614-1722): Among the things I tried in order to get rid of the error: Check in Preferences - Java - Compiler if all "Classfile Generation" checkboxes where checked. I did that for both general preferences and project preference Uncheck them, build, check them build again (found on another question) Add org.eclipse.jdt.core.compiler.debug.lineNumber=generate to my .settings/org.eclipse.jdt.core.prefs file Use a new CVS checkout (same symptoms) And now, I don't know what to do anymore. The problem is really stopping me from get anything done. I can't work anymore. Crazy is: the problem doesn't happen on every class, only on some of them. Neither does it happen on my other Eclipse projects. And it didn't happen before yesterday, even if I can't remeber having done anything weird. Actually, I have never seen a problem like this in almost 10 years I'm using Eclipse... If you have any idea, I would be really grateful... Edit: I also tried to ignore the message and go on with my tests: If I create another breakpoint upstream from my problematic class, when I enter this problematic class, it tries to open a $Proxy132 class, which means it actually opens an empty page, with a source not found message

    I am writing an app using PhoneGap for Android in Eclipse. Since the project is an Android project, it's in a Java perspective. For whatever reason, Eclipse won't highlight HTML and JavaScript for me while in an Android/Java project/perspective and switching to the JavaScript perspective doesn't highlight the code either. Without highlighting or debugging tools, the debug process is very slow. How do I tell Eclipse to highlight HTML and JavaScript for me while working in a Java Environment?

  • Linker Issues with boost::thread under linux using Eclipse and CMake

    I'm in the process of attempting to port some code across from PC to Ubuntu, and am having some issues due to limited experience developing under linux. We use CMake to generate all our build stuff. Under windows I'm making VS2010 projects, and under Linux I'm making Eclipse projects. I've managed to get my OpenCV stuff ported across successfully, but am having major headaches trying to port my threaded boost apps. Just so we're clear, the steps I have followed so-far on a clean Ubuntu 12 installation. (I've done 2 clean re-installs to try and fix potential library cock-ups, now I'm just giving up and asking): Install Eclipse and Eclipse CDT using my package manager Install CMake and CMake Gui using my package manager Install libboost-all-dev using my package manager So-far that's all I've done. I can create the eclipse project using CMake with no errors, so CMake is successfully finding my boost install. When I try and build through eclipse is when I get issues; The app I'm attempting to build uses boost::asio for some UDP I/O and boost::thread to create worker threads for the asio I/O services. I am trying to link statically, but I believe eclipse should be passing the correct arguments to make that happen since my CMakeLists.txt includes SET(Boost_USE_STATIC_LIBS ON) I'm officially out of ideas here, I have tried doing local builds of boost and a bunch of other stuff with no more success. I even re-installed Ubuntu to ensure I haven't completely fracked the libs directories and links with multiple weird versions or anything else. Any help would be muchly appreciated.

  • Color Themes for Eclipse?

    I am a recovering Emacs user, who is trying to ease into Eclipse usage. (Since I'm encouraging the rest of the team to use it, I guess I should at least try to get along). My current excuse is that it hurts my eyes. I'm currently using the excellent zenburn theme in emacs, and would love to find it for eclipse. However, I find that changing my color theme every few months makes for a great way to procrastinate, so ideally I'd like to find a repository for eclipse color themes. There don't appear to be any eclipse themes indexed by Google, so all the great themes must be sitting on your hard disk somewhere. Please share them. Thanks

When Eclipse adds the methods it adds them in alphabetical order. Is there a way to configure Eclipse to add them in the order that they appear in the interface (or abstract class)?

  • Portable Eclipse

    I'm trying to port my entire 'workspace' to a USB key (including the Eclipse executable) so that I can carry my work anywhere with me and work off the key directly. My directory hierarchy is similar to this: /workspace/eclipse - Where my current eclipse binary is stored /workspace/codebase - Where I keep the root of all my eclipse projects /workspace/resources - Where I keep all project files (images, docs, libs, etc.) It all works perfectly fine on one system. But when I change over to another system, the USB key gets mounted on another drive. For example, on my laptop, I get 'E:\', on my PC, I get 'K:\' and at work I get 'F:\', etc, etc. This means that because Eclipse (for 'some' reason) seems to only use full path names (including driver letters) in every single one of its configuration files (such as .classpath), nothing ever works when I want to work on another system. I put a 'libs' directory in the base of every project and populate it with its dependent JAR files. Why doesn't it use relative names instead, so that I could specify something like "../../libs/log4j.jar"? Anyone know how to fix this problem? Does anyone know of a workaround for this? For some reason, I really doubt I'm the first developer to do this! Thanks for your help and any suggestions.

  • Installing WindowBuilder on Eclipse 4.2

    I'm using Eclipse Juno 4.2, downloaded from here. On previous installs, I've been using 3.7, and I've been using WindowBuilder, which I find very useful. I noticed it wasn't included this time, so I used this update site provided on this page (the zip file download gives a "file unavailable" error). However, when I run the install, it rapidly climbs to 28%, then freezes. After half an hour, I get a very long error that start with this: An error occurred while collecting items to be installed session context was:(profile=epp.package.java, phase=org.eclipse.equinox.internal.p2.engine.phases.Collect, operand=, action=). Multiple problems occurred while downloading. Unable to read repository at http://download.eclipse.org/windowbuilder/WB/integration/4.2/plugins/org.eclipse.wb.core_1.5.0.r42x201205291332.jar.pack.gz.     I am a java beginner and am going through the book "Java In 24 Hours Sixth Edition" by Rogers Cadenhead. I am on chapter 24 "Creating an Android app". The book has told me to download Eclipse and Android SDK on my computer and to unzip the zip files they come in. I have put them both in the same parent file (C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\My Documents\Downloads). Then the book tells me I can run Eclipse now and I get a message instead saying "The Eclipse Executable Launcher Was Unable To Locate Its Companion Shared Library". Is there a way to fix this? Do I just have to re-install SDK and Eclipse? I have downloaded SDK for windows 64-bit and I have windows 64-bit. Any info on how to fix this would be most appreciated.

  • How to see full compile path in Eclipse?

    I have looked for an answer for this nearly every where that I can think of, but there doesn't seem to be any way to actually SEE what Eclipse "runs" to compile the projects (as it does need the JDK installed and visible to actually build). I ask because I imported a few jars into my project, and even though I've looked through all the javac documentation, I can't seem to figure out how to mimic it quite like Eclipse does. I really, really need to be able to compile on the command line in this case - Eclipse or any other IDE just isn't what is needed. I started to look through the Eclipse source, and although this sounds lazy, I just became overwhelmed and figured I would ask here first, hoping someone else had the same question at one point.

  • Eclipse making background video skip with almost every click of the mouse

    The problem is i like to listen to videos online (mostly or all flash video) while programming and never had any problems until i started using eclipse, now every time i do just about anything other than type, it makes the video skip/freeze really bad and is really annoying. I have never had this happen using visual studio, netbeans, or adobe flash for that matter, unless i was compiling or doing something that hogs the processor. Are there any settings that might could fix this its getting really annoying. it happens almost every time i even click "find" on the find pop-up window and it is not like it is having to search a big file or anything it is only 700 lines, with honestly only about 1/2 that have content on them. Any ideas?

    I am trying to backup my Eclipse .metadata directory. The command I run is: cp -Rf ~/some/where/.metadata/* ~/some/backup/.metadata/. The first time I tried this, the copy skipped the lock file and the .plugins and .mylyn directories. After doing some research, I found some threads mentioning permission changes. I applied the changes and found some success. Now, running the script will not create or traverse into the .plugins or .mylyn directories. Additional research has come up with zero results.     I want to import a project that I'm planning to build upon. The problem is that it is very messy; with source files, class files and libraries under one directory. How would I organise these files using Eclipse? I know you can change the source folder and output folder, but when I do change the source folder, the files that I want inside it do not physically move to that folder. Output folder is fine, though. Also, I would like a separate folder for libraries. I'm not sure how I would go about this, however. Here's how I would like it: src: This folder will contain source files. bin: This folder will contain binary (class) files. lib: This folder will contain external libraries.

    I want to be able to use a version control system. Although Eclipse comes with CVS, I think it's better that I use a distributed version control system, such as GIT. I was pretty much sold after reading this article. Anyway, I installed EGit and followed this guide on how to set it up. However, I ran in to a few problems: Adding .project and .classpath inside .gitignore did not seem to work. When I try to open a committed file, it throws an error, saying: "IO error reading Git blob [...]" What am I doing wrong? If more information is needed, please specify and I will give.

  • Rendering artifact when using Eclipse (FlashBuilder)

    Once in a while when using FlashBuilder, I'll get a rendering artifact that doesn't go away until I do a full reboot. This artifact seems to be caused by a popup triggered by code documentation popups (hovering over keywords) that linger after the popup has been dismissed: This behavior is seemingly random and incredibly annoying. It only happens when using Eclipse (although I don't run many Java-based programs) and run an NVidia Quadro 2000M (with the latest drivers - figured I'd try that before posting). Has anyone else encountered this issue? Any known solutions?
