  • deploying WAMP -> live site - any random tips?

    In the next few weeks I'll be taking my site from the localhost (WAMP) and puting it on a new server. This will be the first site, on my first server, so basically...i'm a noob! This must be an important moment for any independent web developer / small business so i'd love to hear about some experiences, mistakes and system default security holes that one should fix straight away...   • httpUnit class not found

    I am trying httpUnit for the first time and just trying to get a response back from google.com. However, I keep getting the following error: com.meterware.httpunit.dom.HTMLDocumentImpl not found Though, I have placed httpUnit.jar in the libraries folder of my NetBeans project and can actually see that class file is there. Any experiences with this?

  • In MVVM should the ViewModel or Model implement INotifyPropertyChanged?

    Most MVVM examples I have worked through have had the Model implement INotifyPropertyChanged, but in Josh Smith's CommandSink example the ViewModel implements INotifyPropertyChanged. I'm still cognitively putting together the MVVM concepts, so I don't know if: you have to put the INotifyPropertyChanged in the ViewModel to get CommandSink to work this is just an aberration of the norm and it doesn't really matter you should always have the Model implement INotifyPropertyChanged and this is just a mistake which would be corrected if this were developed from a code example to an application What have been others' experiences on MVVM projects you have worked on?

(sphinx supports xml format but I am not going to use it, cause it is slow and much of time are spent on xml parsing).     What could be the potential reasons why mongrel does not use the latest code in the ~/current branch? The code changes are in the MODELs. The code changes in the CONTROLLERS TAKE EFFECT. I tried the following: god restart app deploying several times manually stopping mongrel cluster, deleting the pid files, and starting them again Anyone has similar experiences? Where could the server be potentially caching the model files?

    What gives best performance for running PostgreSQL on EC2? EBS in RAID? PGData on /mnt? Do you have any preferences or experiences? Main "plus" for running pgsql on EBS is switching from one to another instances. Can this be the reason to be slower that /mnt partition?
