• Interface Builder error: IBXMLDecoder: The value for key is too large to fit into a 32 bit integer

  I'm working with Robert Payne's fork of PSMTabBarControl that works with IB 3.2 (thanks BTW Robert!): http://codaset.com/robertjpayne/psmtabbarcontrol/. The demo application works fine on 64-bit systems, but when I try to open the XIB file in Interface Builder on a 32-bit system I get: IBXMLDecoder: The value (4654500848) for key (myTrackingRectTag) is too large to fit into a 32 bit integer Building the app as 32 bit works, but then running it gives: PSMTabBarControlDemo[9073:80f] * -[NSKeyedUnarchiver decodeInt32ForKey:]: value (4654500848) for key (myTrackingRectTag) too large to fit in 32-bit integer Not sure if this is a generic IB issue that can occur when moving between 64 and 32 bit systems, or if this is a more specific issue with this code. Has anyone else run into this?

• How do I layout an image that will be dynamically sized in interface builder?

  I am having trouble laying out scrollable view in interface builder. A screen shot of my layout is here. As you can see the layout is pretty simple. The UIImageView above the text will not have a specific height. It may be 100px high or 300px high. This is why the view is scrollable. I am experiencing two problems with this layout: 1) For some reason the image will sit behind the text instead of pushing it down. Take a look here. 2) The obvious other problem is that the upper most UIImage and UILabel are getting pushed up off of the screen. I am thinking this has to do with the UIScrollView but I haven't been able to figure out why. Thanks!

  Hello, I am trying to figure out if it is possible to implement a .NET interface, where the interface method has to return something and you are implementing that particular interface method with an asynchronous WCF service? Hopefully you should already see the issue I am encountering. Here is the interface: public interface IDataService { IDataServiceResponse SendDataRequest(); } IDataServiceResponse is supposed to represent a simple container that holds the result of my asynchronous WCF callback.   Most OO languages prefix their interface names with a capital I, why does Java not do this? What was the rationale for not following this convention? To demonstrate what I mean, if I wanted to have a User interface and a User implementation I'd have two choices in Java: Class = User, Interface = UserInterface Class = UserImpl, Interface = User Where in most languages: Class = User, Interface = IUser Now, you might argue that you could always pick a most descriptive name for the user implementation and the problem goes away, but Java's pushing a POJO approach to things and most IOC containers use DynamicProxies extensively. These two things together mean that you'll have lots of interfaces with a single POJO implementation. So, I guess my question boils down to: "Is it worth following the broader Interface naming convention especially in light of where Java Frameworks seem to be heading?"

• Create a CSR in C# using an explicit RSA key-pair

  Using the OpenSSL libraries one can create a CSR (certificate signing request) by doing this: openssl genrsa -out rsa.key 1024 openssl req -new -key rsa.key -out output.csr -config config.txt where config.txt contains the distinguished name to use in the certificate. I would like to do something similar under Windows using C#. However, the method createPKCS10 does not require you to supply an RSA key. Is there a way to get C# to generate an explicit RSA private key and then use that private key to create the CSR?

• Extracting an interface from .NEt System classes

  When using Visual Studio it is easy to extract an interface from a class that I have written myself. I right click on the class and select 'Refactor' then select 'Extract Interface'. Let's assume for a second that I wanted to create a ConfigurationManager wrapper and write some tests around it. A quick way to do that would be to extract an interface from ConfigurationManager by right clicking it, then 'Go To Definition' and then from inside the class select 'Refactor' then select 'Extract Interface'. Then I would simply create my wrapper class, inherit from my newly created interface, and then implement it and I have a great starting point for my wrapper class. However, extracting an interface from any .NET system classes is not possible, probably because it's just meta data about the classes and not the classes themselves (or I am doing it wrong). Is there an easy way to do what I am trying to accomplish? I want to ensure I am not wasting time typing what I don't need to be typing. Thanks

• Alternate User select interface in django admin to reduce page size on large site?

  I have a Django-based site with roughly 300,000 User objects. Admin pages for objects with a ForeignKey field to User take a very long time to load as the resulting form is about 6MB in size. Of course, the resulting dropdown isn't particularly useful, either. Are there any off-the-shelf replacements for handling this case? I've been googling for a snippet or a blog entry, but haven't found anything yet. I'd like to have a smaller download size and a more usable interface.

• Alternate to control+drag to connect view element with file owner in xCode interface builder?

  Working on an iPhone application through a TightVNC connection into a Mac Mini; the control+drag operation in Interface Builder to connect a view element to file owner doesn't work - I don't see the connecting line. It does work when I connect keyboard, mouse and monitor to the Mini and work on it directly, however it is a lot more convenient for me to run it through a VNC connection. Must be some quirk of the TightVNC connection that is preventing this. I tried different TightVNC settings for the cursor (let server handle it and so on) but no luck. Is there an alternative to control+drag to hook up outlets?

Please tell any suggestions and if you have ever seen implementation of something familiar please share the link. University. There are 40+ specialities grouped into 5 faculties. User choose several he is interested in and than orders them by priority. For example I am interested in "programming microcontrollers", "system analysis" and "experimental physic". I must find them quickly in "programming faculty", select them and then order - what I prefer most and what I prefer less then others I select. Any ideas welcome :)

I think it's pretty simple, add/remove just allows me to perform other logic when I subscribe and unsubscribe? Am I getting it, or is there more to it? • Consistency of an object

  I tend to keep my objects consistent during their lifetime. In some cases, setting up an object requires multiple calls to different routines. For example, a connection object may operate in this way: Connection c = new Connection(); c.setHost("http://whatever") c.setPort(8080) c.connect() please note this is just a stupid example to let you understand the point. In between calls to setHost and setPort the object is inconsistent, because the Port has not been specified yet, so this code would crash Connection c = new Connection(); c.setHost("http://whatever") c.connect() Meaning that it's a requisite for connect() to have previous calls to both setHost and setPort, otherwise it won't be able to operate as its state is inconsistent. You may fix the issue with a default value, but there may be cases where no sensible default may be devised. We assume in the later example that there's no default for the port, and therefore a call to c.connect() without first calling both setHost and setPort will be an inconsistent state of the object. This, to me, points at an incorrect interface design, but I may be wrong, so I want to hear your opinion. Do you organize your interface so that the object is always in a consistent (i.e. workable) state both before and after the call ? Edit: Please don't try to solve the problem I gave above. I know how to solve that. My question is much broader in sense. I am looking for a design principle, officially or informally stated, regarding consistency of object state between calls.

  Hello guys... I have seen 2-3 ERPs in action. I am wondering what is better. Desktop based application or webbased displayed on a browser. My first expirience was with a web based ERP when i was 14 years old.. It was web based and terribly slow... For most simple task you had to do lots of clicks... no keyboard support ..... Pages took ages to load. Last year i worked for migrating to a newer computer some old terminal based cobol application. The computer that worked till today and still has no problem was from 1993. The user interface ofcourse was textbased.. The speed that guys placed orders was amazing! just typing the name of the customer , then 5-10 keys to add a product to order.... Comparing to this ERP the page for placing orders Link (click sales orders) seems terribly slow to add a product... No keyboard shortcut works to save what you added and generally i believe you need 4 times more time to place an order compared to the text interface... Having to use both mouse and keyboard for this task is BAD and sadistic... So how can tek heck these people ever use a system like that ??? So in the long run desktop application seems the only way... Ofcourse browsers support shortcuts but the way to overide the defaults that browsers uses isnt cross compatible... That is a hudge problem. Finnaly, if we MUST/forced use cloud in near future what about keyboard shortcuts?? I feel confused... I have seen converters of desktop applications to browser applications but are SLOW as hell... The question is what about user friendliness?What kind of application would you use?

You need to select all  and drag and drop. after drag and drop file is simply uploaded to server and site show you on list (if no error happen). but this file upload is seriously not worthy since I have to open the site when I do this operation.   Through this post I want to describe a feature that can make this thing better.  This API is simply called SASS FILE UPLOAD API Through This API when you surf the site and come into file upload page then the page will tell you that we also have SASS FILE API support. Enable it for better result.   How this work This API feature are activated on 2 basis. 1. Feature are disabled by default on site (or you can change it if it’s not) 2. This API allow specific site to upload the files. Files upload may have some rule. For example (minimum or maximum size of file to uploaded, which format the site allowed you to upload). In case of resume site you will be allowed to use .doc (according to code of site)   How browser recognize that Site have SASS service. This will gave a treeview kind of json to show the directories on sever.   for example example.com if you have activated the API with this site then you will seen a send to option in your explorer.exe when you send you will got a windows open which folder you want to use to send the file. The windows will also describe the limit and how much you can upload. This thing never required site to opened. When you upload the file this will be uploaded through FTP protocol. FTP protocol are better for performance.   How this API make thing faster. Suppose you want to ask a question and want to post image. you just do it and get it ready when you open stackoverflow.com now stackoverflow will only tell you which file you want to put on your current question that you asking for. second use is about people use cloud app.   There is no need of drag and drop anymore. we just need to do it without drag and drop it. we doesn’t need to open the site either. This thing is still in experiment level. I will update this post when I got some progress on this API.

• How am I able to create A List<T> containing a generic Interface?

  I have a List which must contain IInteract Objects. But IInteract is a generic interface which requires 2 type arguments. My main idea is iterate through a list of Objects and "Interact" one with another if they didn't interact yet. So i have this object List<IObject> WorldObjects = new List<IObject>(); and this one: private List<IInteract> = new List<IInteract>(); Except I can't compile the last line because IInteract requires 2 type arguments. But I don't know what the arguments are until I add them. I could add interactions between Objects of Type A and A... or Objects of Type B and C. I want to create "Interaction" classes which do something with the "acting" object and the "target" object, but I want them to be independent from the objects... so I could add an Interaction between for instance... "SuperUltraClass" and... an "integer". Am I using the wrong approach?

After getting a table view of topics (business sectors) working fine I realized that I would need to add a Navigation Control to allow the user to drill into a subtopics (subsectors) table. As a green Objective-C developer, that was confusing, but I managed to get it working by reading various documentation trying out a few different IB options. My current setup is a Tab Bar Controller with Tab 1 as a Navigation Controller and Tab 2 a plain view with a Table View placed into it. The wiring works: I can log when table rows are selected and I'm ready to push a new View Controller onto the stack so that I can display the subtopics Table View. My problem: For some reason the first tab's Table View is a delegate and dataSource of the second ta. It doesn't make sense to me and I can't figure out why that's the only setup that works. Here is the wiring: Navigation Controller (Sectors) is a delegate of Tab Bar Navigation Bar is a delegate of Navigation Controller (Sectors) View Contoller (Sectors) has a view of Table View Table View (in Navigation Controller (Sectors)) is a delegate of First View Controller (Companies) Table View (in Navigation Controller (Sectors)) is a dataSource outlet of First View Controller (Companies) First View Controller (Companies) First View Contoller (Sectors) has a view of Table View Table View (in First View Controller (Companies)) is not hooked up to a dataSource outlet and is not a delegate When I click the tab buttons and look at the Inspector I see that the first tab is correctly hooked up to my MainWindow.xib and the second tab has selected a nib called SecondView.xib. I'm confused: why wouldn't it need to be hooked up to the Navigation Controller-enabled tab in which the Table View is seen (Navigation Controller (Sectors))? The Table View seen on the second tab has neither dataSource and is not a delegate.   I do not want NetworkManager to list or manipulate my wireless card. Can I hide its interface from NetworkManager somehow? • Do you prefer building your interfaces in IB or programmatically? and why?

  I've been using Xcode and building iPhone apps for two months, but I'm finding it really hard to grasp good application design. I always face problems—like you can't put your tabbarcontroller in another custom viewcontroller, for example—that 'sometimes', of course, would work if you did the creation of the views/viewcontrollers programmatically. So I don't know if I should start writing the creation of my objects or use Interface Builder. What are your experiences?
