  • Needing forward declaration in Ruby

    Hi, I am trying to write a Ruby script in one file. I would like to know if it is possible to write the "main" function in the beginning, having the other functions that are used by main, defined after it. In other words, I would like to call a not yet defined function, so that they do not depends on definition order. Just changing the order is not possible because it gives an "undefined method" error. In C/C++ we use forward declarations... is there something similar in Ruby or another solution to this?

    I want to forward declare a static member function of a class in another file. What I WANT to do looks like this: BigMassiveHeader.h: class foo { static void init_foos(); } Main.cpp: class foo; void init_foos(); int main(char** argv, int argc) { foo::init_foos() } This fails out with "error C2027: use of undefined type 'tt_py_ns::foo'" Is there a way to accomplish what I want to do with out making init_foos a free function, or including BigMassiveHeader.h? (BigMassiveHeader.h is noticeably effecting compile time, and is included everywhere.)

  • Using .htaccess to replace backslash in URL with forward-slash

    I realise that a backslash should never appear in a URL in a form other than a URL escape code, however in this case the URL's are being generated by a .NET application for generating flashbooks. I have contacted the developer of this application with a bug report. In the interim i would like to use .htaccess to rewrite the offending backslashes. This is how the URLs appear in fiddler debugging proxy. www.example.com/folder/folder/thumbs%5C1.jpg I am using Firefox and it looks as though Firefox is translating them into the URL encoded equivalent ( \ == %5C1 ). Interestingly IE translates the backslash into a forward-slash automatically (not adhering to standards but convenient in this case). Is there a way to use .htaccess to rewrite all \ to /?

    Hey all, I'd like to do the following: If a user gets to a url or types it in, and it is along the lines of any the following: /path/path/path /path /path/path/ I would like htaccess to forward them to that url + /index.htm before triggering a 404. Also, I would like to ignore this rule for certain paths.     Given a generic interface interface Foo<A, B> { } I want to write an implementation that requires A to be a subclass of B. So I want to do class Bar<A, B super A> implements Foo<A, B> { } // --> Syntax error or class Bar<A extends B, B> implements Foo<A, B> { } // --> illegal forward reference But the only solution that seems to work is this: class Bar<B, A extends B> implements Foo<A, B> { } which is kind of ugly, because it reverses the order of the generic parameters. Are there any solutions or workarounds to this problem?

  • Forward web request for directory index ('/') to an index.htm page in JBoss 4.0.5

    I am using JBoss 4.0.5.GA to run a set of java applications. One of them is a web frontend, using Spring 1.4. URL mappings are configured in a way that 'fake' pages from request URLs are mapped to controllers. That means that when someone requests /index.htm, there's no actual 'index.htm' on disk, and that request maps to a specific conroller which then renders a jsp view. So the problem is as follows: I need to tell JBoss to somehow forward all requests for directory indices to corresponding 'index.htm' URLs like so: / ? /index.htm; /news/ ? /news/index.htm; /foo/bar/baz/ ? /foo/bar/baz/index.htm and so on. I can't use Tomcat's welcome-file-list feature because it looks for those files on disk, while all 'index.htm's are fake and don't actually exist on disk.

  • Forward declaring an enum in c++

    Hi guys, I'm trying to do something like the following: enum E; void Foo(E e); enum E {A, B, C}; which the compiler rejects. I've had a quick look on Google and the consensus seems to be "you can't do it", but I can't understand why. Can anyone explain? Many thanks. Clarification 2: I'm doing this as I have private methods in a class that take said enum, and I do not want the enum's values exposed - so, for example, I do not want anyone to know that E is defined as enum E { FUNCTIONALITY_NORMAL, FUNCTIONALITY_RESTRICTED, FUNCTIONALITY_FOR_PROJECT_X } as project X is not something I want my users to know about. So, I wanted to forward declare the enum so I could put the private methods in the header file, declare the enum internally in the cpp, and distribute the built library file and header to people. As for the compiler - it's GCC.

How to forward all recieved packages from 1.1.1.1:1111 to another port on the same server, for example to 1.1.1.1:2222?   • Is it possible, via GPO or other method, to turn Internet Explorer's intranet compatibility mode OFF across a domain?

    Our school's VLE has a few problems when running in IE8/IE9's Compatibility View. Mainly it causes difficulties with uploading files. This problem is easily remedied by un-ticking the Display intranet sites in Compatibility View option from Internet Explorer's Compatibility View options. However, I'm unable to find a way of doing this en masse. I can't find anything regarding this in GPO - would a registry hack or similar do the trick? Thanks in advance,

  • Apache mod_rewrite - forward domain root to subdirectory

    I have what I originally assumed to be a simple problem. I am using shared hosting for my website (so I don't have access to the Apache configuration) and have only been given a single folder to store all my content in. This is all well and good but it means that all my subdomains must have their virtual document root's inside public_html, meaning they effectively become a folder on my main domain. What I'd like to do is organise my public_html something like this: public_html/ www/ index.php ... sub1/ index.php ... some_library/ ... This way, all my web content is still in public_html but only a small fraction of it will be served to the client. I can easily achieve this for all the subdomains, but it's the primary domain that I'm having issues with. I created a .htaccess file in public_html with the following: Options +SymLinksIfOwnerMatch # I'm not allowed to use FollowSymLinks RewriteEngine on RewriteBase / RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !^/www [NC] RewriteRule ^(.*)$ /www/$1 [L] This works fairly well, but for some strange reason www.example.com/stuff is translated into a request for www.example.com/www/stuff and hence a 404 error is given. It was my understanding that unless an 'R' flag was specified, mod_rewrite was purely internal so I can't understand why the request is generated as that implies (to me at least) redirection. I assumed this would be a trivial problem to solve as all I actually want to do is forward all requests for the root of www.example.com to a subdirectory, but I've spent hours searching for answers and none are quite correct. I find it difficult to believe I'm the only person to have this issue. I apologise if this question has been answered on here before, I did search and trawl but couldn't find an appropriate answer. Please could someone shed some light on this?

  • IIS 6.0 Rewrite rules for Wordpress (Forward slash not working and other things)

    Hi, I am using Wordpress 3.0.4 on IIS 6.0 and Windows Server 2003, hosted by a company. I was having lots of issues using permalinks. I have fixed most, but now I have an issue with a forward-slash not being added to the address. This would be fine on most websites, but not on IIS for some reason. Specifically, if I go to "mysite.com/wp-admin" I can log-in and get to the dashboard, but as soon as I click anything there i am redirected to a broken link. For example: "mysite.com/post-new.php". If I add the slash at the end it's fine. So I tried to have a rewrite rule to automatically add the slash to such address: RewriteRule /wp-admin /wp-admin/ [L] But it still doesn't work.   • accessing google maps via UIWebView - illegal?

    New to iPhone development. Working on first app. I'm accessing google maps via UIWebView to forward geocode an address using "http://maps.google.com/maps?q=my address". It works, although it has this quirk of requiring you to hit "Back" button and then the "Detail" button (provided by the navigation bar) to get back to the screen from whence you started. If anyone knows why it does this, I'd love to hear. My real question, however, is this a legal use of google maps? Since I intend this app for commercial use, am I violating Google's rules + regs? If it is illegal, what's my alternative? Thanks.

  • C++ method declaration, class definition problem

    I have 2 classes: A and B. Some methods of class A need to use class B and the opposite(class B has methods that need to use class A). So I have: class A; class B { method1(A a) { } } class A { method1(B b) { } void foo() { } } and everything works fine. But when I try to call foo() of class A from B::method1 like this: class B { method1(A a) { a.foo(); } } I get as result compile errors of forward declaration and use of incomplete type. But why is this happening? (I have declared class A before using it?)

    I'm using the following code to create an image element, load it, then append it to the article on load. $('<img />') .attr('src', 'image.png') //actually imageData[0].url .load(function(){ $('article').append( $(this) ); alert('image added'); }); The alert is firing off ok, but the image doesn't appear, and when I inspect the element it has been added without the closing slash <img src='image.png' > Why is the browser removing the forward slash and how do I stop it?

    Hi (this is a common problem with few twists). We are on IIS 6, without ISAPI_Rewrite with .net 4 and mvc 2 app. We would like to 301 forward bunch of old urls to matching new urls. (We are deploying a new site and google index will still point to old urls, and we need to map those urls to new urls) a) Is there a way to do this through IIS (but without ISAPI_Rewrite) and how? b) Is there a way to do this through the application code and how?     C++ requires all types to be defined before they can be used, which makes it important to include header files in the right order. Fine. But what about my situation: Bunny.h: class Bunny { ... private: Reference<Bunny> parent; } The compiler complains, because technically Bunny has not been completely defined at the point where I use it in its own class definition. This is not sufficient: class Bunny; class Bunny { ... private: Reference<Bunny> parent; } Apart from re-writing my template class Reference so it takes a pointer type (in which case I can use the forward declaration of Bunny), I don't know how to solve this. Any suggestions?

    I've been using Text Expander for years. However, I found out today it doesn't work on my newly upgraded (to Snow Leopard) Macbook Pro anymore. I know that there are a lot of applications that are not compatible with Snow Leopard, and developers around the world are working on them to work again on our beautiful macs. My questions are: 1.   • Hardware selection for Linux machine

    Hi, I am building a new box, and planning to install Ubuntu 9-04 or Ubuntu 9-10 on it. I am wary of the hardware selection because in the past I struggled with lack of drivers or driver incompatibility with the network card and video card, etc. The last time I built a Linux box was 2007, and I have not kept up to date with the changes since. One notable difference is that I can no longer find motherboards with nVidia chip sets.
