  • Highlighting current and previous stars on mouseover

    - by mpet
I'm trying to make simple five star rating system using Twitter Bootstrap 3 i jQuery. For now, I'm trying to set .hover() and .mouseout() events using counter by writing this code that doesn't work: var i; for (i = 1; i <= 5; i++) { $('#overall_rating_' + i).hover(function(){ $('#overall_rating_' + i).removeClass("glyphicon-star-empty").addClass("glyphicon-star"); }); $('#overall_rating_' + i).mouseout(function(){ $('#overall_rating_' + i).removeClass("glyphicon-star").addClass("glyphicon-star-empty"); }); } Trying to highlight current and previous stars on mouseover. The code is not complete, it would be accompanied by additional sub-counters, but this part doesn't work for now. Any better methods are welcome. What's broken here?

  • Pinning Projects and Solutions with Visual Studio 2010

    - by ScottGu
This is the twenty-fourth in a series of blog posts I’m doing on the VS 2010 and .NET 4 release. Today’s blog post covers a very small, but still useful, feature of VS 2010 – the ability to “pin” projects and solutions to both the Windows 7 taskbar as well VS 2010 Start Page.  This makes it easier to quickly find and open projects in the IDE. [In addition to blogging, I am also now using Twitter for quick updates and to share links. Follow me at: twitter.com/scottgu] VS 2010 Jump List on Windows 7 Taskbar Windows 7 added support for customizing the taskbar at the bottom of your screen.  You can “pin” and re-arrange your application icons on it however you want. Most developers using Visual Studio 2010 on Windows 7 probably already know that they can “pin” the Visual Studio icon to the Windows 7 taskbar – making it always present.  What you might not yet have discovered, though, is that Visual Studio 2010 also exposes a Taskbar “jump list” that you can use to quickly find and load your most recently used projects as well. To activate this, simply right-click on the VS 2010 icon in the task bar and you’ll see a list of your most recent projects.  Clicking one will load it within Visual Studio 2010: Pinning Projects on the VS 2010 Jump List with Windows 7 One nice feature also supported by VS 2010 is the ability to optionally “pin” projects to the jump-list as well – which makes them always listed at the top.  To enable this, simply hover over the project you want to pin and then click the “pin” icon that appears on the right of it: When you click the pin the project will be added to a new “Pinned” list at the top of the jumplist: This enables you to always display your own list of projects at the top of the list.  You can optionally click and drag them to display in any order you want. VS 2010 Start Page and Project Pinning VS 2010 has a new “start page” that displays by default each time you launch a new instance of Visual Studio.  In addition to displaying learning and help resources, it also includes a “Recent Projects” section that you can use to quickly load previous projects that you have recently worked on: The “Recent Projects” section of the start page also supports the concept of “pinning” a link to projects you want to always keep in the list – regardless of how recently they’ve been accessed. To “pin” a project to the list you simply select the “pin” icon that appears when you hover over an item within the list: Once you’ve pinned a project to the start page list it will always show up in it (at least until you “unpin” it). Summary This project pinning support is a small but nice usability improvement with VS 2010 and can make it easier to quickly find and load projects/solutions.  If you work with a lot of projects at the same time it offers a nice shortcut to load them. Hope this helps, Scott

  • Tip #104: Did you know … How to view text for the ‘hint’ buttons on the Publish Web Dialog?

    - by The Official Microsoft IIS Site
After the Beta 2 release of Visual Studio 2010, the Publish Web Dialog was modified to include two information buttons associated with the Service URL and Site/application text boxes. (See Figure 1) Figure 1 – New information (‘hint’) buttons (see circled question marks) There are two keys to remember when trying to view the ‘help’ text associated with these buttons: Patience Hover – don’t click In order to reveal the valuable information that these help icons can unlock, simply move your mouse to...(read more)

  • Common header file for C++ and JavaScipt

    - by paperjam
I have an app that runs a C++ server backend and Javascript on the client. I would like to define certain strings once only, for both pieces of code. For example, I might have a CSS class "row-hover" - I want to define this class name in one place only in case I change it later. Is there an easy way to include, or read, some sort of common definitions file into both C++ and JavaScript? Ideally as a compile / preprocessing step but any neat approach good.

    - by harsh
Guys I saw a video on the net regarding compiz to enable windows preview option when i hover a mouse over it. I installed compiz through Ubuntu Software centre and then I searched and found that there is no option called "Windows Preview" in it ! There is a unity option but it doesn't have a windows preview option. Also I would like the freedom to move unity anywhere from top-bottom-left-right. Will this damage my system? Please reply at the earliest :-|

  • TraceTune shows Reads graphically

    - by Bill Graziano
TraceTune now shows a graphical view of logical reads for each SQL statement in a trace file.  The width of the colored bar in the screen capture below is the percentage of logical reads for that statement.  The absolute number of reads is shown to the right. Any statement that has a user entered comment is shown in bold.  If you hover over the statement it will show the most recent comment for that statement.

  • Strange focus bug in Firefox (chrome vs content)

    - by Marius
Here is a strange bug I'm experiencing in Firefox: I can only use either the chrome, or the content, not both at the same time! For example, I can click on tabs and the toolbar icons, focus the search bar and write in it as well as the address bar, but if I try to click on anything in the content (eg a link or a textfield to write something), then nothing happens. The mouse pointer doesn't change either, it just stays a pointer when I hover over things, and the links I hover don't react either. But if I alt-tab to another program (or click on it in the taskbar), then back to Firefox, then I can use the area that I click on. So if I click somewhere on the webpage to get focus back to Firefox, then I can click on links and write things (like this text), but I cannot click on tabs or refresh or anything else in the chrome. I can't even click on the minimize, restore and close icons! To get focus back on the chrome I have to alt-tab to another program, and then click on the chrome to get back to Firefox to be able to use the chrome again. I've tried closing and starting it again, but the bug is still there. I have experienced this before, but I don't remember what I did to fix it. This bug seems to occur sometimes when I wake up the computer from standby, but I leave by computer in standby all the time, so that is not the only factor.

  • Show full URI/URL in Chrome's developer tools Network tab

    - by Lev
When using Chrome to debug, I find it incredibly difficult to be efficient due to the fact that I don't see how I can force the "Network" tab of the developer tools to show the full request URI. It will show the full URI if you hover the link and wait a second, but this is incredibly counterproductive. All of my AJAX requests are sent to ajax.php, and handled by using query string arguments, like: ajax.php?do=profile-set ajax.php?do=game-save ... etc. Since I use AJAX extensively, my network tab is filled with "ajax.php", but I have to manually hover each and every entry to find the request I am looking for. Surely there has got to be another way!? I am constantly fed up by something new in Firefox and immediately force myself back into Chrome, but it is always the developer tools in Chrome that keep me from using it for an extended period of time. Hopefully I can find out how to do this so I can continue using Chrome as my numero uno. I've provided a screen shot to show you where I mean:

  • Create nice animation on your ASP.NET Menu control using jQuery

    - by hajan
In this blog post, I will show how you can apply some nice animation effects on your ASP.NET Menu control. ASP.NET Menu control offers many possibilities, but together with jQuery, you can make very rich, interactive menu accompanied with animations and effects. Lets start with an example: - Create new ASP.NET Web Application and give it a name - Open your Default.aspx page (or any other .aspx page where you will create the menu) - Our page ASPX code is: <form id="form1" runat="server"> <div id="menu">     <asp:Menu ID="Menu1" runat="server" Orientation="Horizontal" RenderingMode="List">                     <Items>             <asp:MenuItem NavigateUrl="~/Default.aspx" ImageUrl="~/Images/Home.png" Text="Home" Value="Home"  />             <asp:MenuItem NavigateUrl="~/About.aspx" ImageUrl="~/Images/Friends.png" Text="About Us" Value="AboutUs" />             <asp:MenuItem NavigateUrl="~/Products.aspx" ImageUrl="~/Images/Box.png" Text="Products" Value="Products" />             <asp:MenuItem NavigateUrl="~/Contact.aspx" ImageUrl="~/Images/Chat.png" Text="Contact Us" Value="ContactUs" />         </Items>     </asp:Menu> </div> </form> As you can see, we have ASP.NET Menu with Horizontal orientation and RenderMode=”List”. It has four Menu Items where for each I have specified NavigateUrl, ImageUrl, Text and Value properties. All images are in Images folder in the root directory of this web application. The images I’m using for this demo are from Free Web Icons. - Next, lets create CSS for the LI and A tags (place this code inside head tag) <style type="text/css">     li     {         border:1px solid black;         padding:20px 20px 20px 20px;         width:110px;         background-color:Gray;         color:White;         cursor:pointer;     }     a { color:White; font-family:Tahoma; } </style> This is nothing very important and you can change the style as you want. - Now, lets reference the jQuery core library directly from Microsoft CDN. <script type="text/javascript" src="http://ajax.aspnetcdn.com/ajax/jQuery/jquery-1.4.4.min.js"></script> - And we get to the most interesting part, applying the animations with jQuery Before we move on writing jQuery code, lets see what is the HTML code that our ASP.NET Menu control generates in the client browser.   <ul class="level1">     <li><a class="level1" href="Default.aspx"><img src="Images/Home.png" alt="" title="" class="icon" />Home</a></li>     <li><a class="level1" href="About.aspx"><img src="Images/Friends.png" alt="" title="" class="icon" />About Us</a></li>     <li><a class="level1" href="Products.aspx"><img src="Images/Box.png" alt="" title="" class="icon" />Products</a></li>     <li><a class="level1" href="Contact.aspx"><img src="Images/Chat.png" alt="" title="" class="icon" />Contact Us</a></li> </ul>   So, it generates unordered list which has class level1 and for each item creates li element with an anchor with image + menu text inside it. If we want to access the list element only from our menu (not other list element sin the page), we need to use the following jQuery selector: “ul.level1 li”, which will find all li elements which have parent element ul with class level1. Hence, the jQuery code is:   <script type="text/javascript">     $(function () {         $("ul.level1 li").hover(function () {             $(this).stop().animate({ opacity: 0.7, width: "170px" }, "slow");         }, function () {             $(this).stop().animate({ opacity: 1, width: "110px" }, "slow");         });     }); </script>   I’m using hover, so that the animation will occur once we go over the menu item. The two different functions are one for the over, the other for the out effect. The following line $(this).stop().animate({ opacity: 0.7, width: "170px" }, "slow");     does the real job. So, this will first stop any previous animations (if any) that are in progress and will animate the menu item by giving to it opacity of 0.7 and changing the width to 170px (the default width is 110px as in the defined CSS style for li tag). This happens on mouse over. The second function on mouse out reverts the opacity and width properties to the default ones. The last parameter “slow” is the speed of the animation. • How to improve performance of map that loads new overlay images

    - by anthonysomerset
I have inherited a website to maintain that uses a html map overlaying a real map to link specific countries to specific pages. previously it loaded the default map image, then with some javascript it would change the image src to an image with that particular country in a different colour on mouseover and reset the image source back to the original image on mouse out to make maintenance (adding new countries) easier i made the initial map a background image by utilising some CSS for the div tag, and then created new images for each country which only had that countries hightlight so that the images remain fairly small. this works great but theres one issue which is particularly noticeable on slower internet connections when you hover over a country if you dont have the image file in your browser cache or downloaded it wont load the image unless you hover over another country and then back onto the first country - i guess this is due to the image having to manually be downloaded on first hover. My question: is it possible to force the load of these extra images AFTER the page and all the other assets have finished loading so that this behaviour is all but eliminated? the html code for the MAP is as follows: <div class="gtmap"><img id="Image-Maps_6200909211657061" src="<?php echo cdnhttpsCheck(); ?>assets/wmap/a-guided-tours-map-blank.png" usemap="#Image-Maps_6200909211657061" alt="We offer Guided Motorcycle Tours all around the world" width="615" height="296" /> <map id="_Image-Maps_6200909211657061" name="Image-Maps_6200909211657061"> <area shape="poly" coords="511,134,532,107,542,113,520,141" href="/guided-motorcycle-tours-japan/" alt="Guided Japan Motorcycle Tours" title="Japan" onmouseover="if(document.images) document.getElementById('Image-Maps_6200909211657061').src='<?php echo cdnhttpsCheck(); • How to drill down with jQuery?

    - by Timothy Reed
I'm new to jQuery so sorry if this sounds stupid but I'm having truble drilling down to other elemnts. • vertical navigation that shows hidden submenu on click using JQuery

    - by user346602
Hi, I am trying to make a menu that works like the one on this flash site: http://elevensix.de/ When I click "portfolio", only then to the subnavigation links reveal themselves. Right now I have only managed to get a typical vertical "reveal subnavigation on hover menu" working. What is required is that once the appropriate menu item it cicked, its submenu shows. This submenu remains revealed as the submenu items are hovered over then selected. When the submenu item is selected, the content shows, and both the menu and submenu remain visible (the selected menu and submenu item are given a distinct colour to show the navigation path). Whew. Here is my html: <div id="nav"> <ul> <li><a href="#">about</a></li> <li><a href="#">testimonials</a> <ul> <li><a href="#">testimonial1</a></li> <li><a href="#">testimonial2</a></li> <li><a href="#">testimonial3</a></li> <li><a href="#">testimonial4</a></li> </ul> </li> <li><a href="#">Services</a> <ul> <li><a href="#">services1</a></li> <li><a href="#">services2</a></li> <li><a href="#">services3</a></li> <li><a href="#">services4</a></li> </ul> </li> <li><a href="#">Gallery</a></li> <li><a href="#">Contact</a></li> </ul> </div><!--end #nav--> and here is my css: #nav { width:160px; position: relative; top: 250px; left: 20px; } #nav ul { margin:0px; padding:0px; } #nav ul li { line-height:24px; list-style:none; } #nav a { text-decoration: none; color: #9d9fa2; } #nav ul li a:hover { position:relative; color: #00aeef; } #nav ul ul { display:none; position:absolute; left:160px; top:4px; } #nav ul li:hover ul { display:block; color: #00aeef; } #nav ul ul li { width:160px; float:left; display:inline; line-height:16px; } .selected { color: #00aeef !important; } Should I be giving the submenus a class so that I can hide then show them? And where would the class be applied? To the ul? could I use the same class for both submenus? Am I wrong in how I am applying the display:none values for this purpose? Many thanks to all the clever people on here.

  • not able to style a ul inside a nav tag

    - by user1831677
    I am trying to make a nav menu for my website and have been using http://www.onextrapixel.com/2011/06/03/how-to-create-a-horizontal-dropdown-menu-with-html-css-and-jquery/ as a guide. It has worked fine but as soon as I try to add ( id="coolMenu" ) to the nav tag it stops working. I took it away from the ul tag and added it to the nav tag and it no longer works. It does not display anything at all. What am in doing wrong? Thanks. html code below: <nav id="coolMenu"> <ul> <li><a href="#">Lorem</a></li> <li><a href="#">Mauricii</a></li> <li> <a href="#">Periher</a> <ul class="noJS"> <li><a href="#">Hellenico</a></li> <li><a href="#">Genere</a></li> <li><a href="#">Indulgentia</a></li> </ul> </li> <li><a href="#">Tyrio</a></li> <li><a href="#">Quicumque</a></li> </ul> </nav> css below: /* Structure ------------------------------------------*/ #coolMenu, #coolMenu ul { list-style: none; } #coolMenu { float: left; } #coolMenu > li { float: left; } #coolMenu li a { display: block; height: 2em; line-height: 2em; padding: 0 1.5em; text-decoration: none; } #coolMenu ul { position: absolute; display: none; z-index: 999; } #coolMenu ul li a { width: 80px; } #coolMenu li:hover ul.noJS { display: block; } /* Main menu ------------------------------------------*/ #coolMenu { font-family: Arial; font-size: 12px; background: #2f8be8; } #coolMenu > li > a { color: #fff; font-weight: bold; } #coolMenu > li:hover > a { background: #f09d28; color: #000; } /* Submenu ------------------------------------------*/ #coolMenu ul { background: #f09d28; } #coolMenu ul li a { color: #000; } #coolMenu ul li:hover a { background: #ffc97c; }

  • Add a Hovering Image Toolbar to Firefox

    - by Asian Angel
When you work with webpage images in Firefox you normally have to use the Context Menu to do anything with them. The Image Toolbar extension provides an extra toolbar to use when you hover your mouse over webpage images. Note: This extension will not function if you have the NoScript extension installed/enabled unless JavaScript has permission to be active on that page. Before You can see the available “Context Menu” options for working with images here. Not bad but it would be nice if some other convenient options were available as well. Image Toolbar in Action Once you have installed the extension you will be able to view the toolbar whenever you hover your mouse over an image. All of the commands are active by default but you can choose what is available in the options. The toolbar will also appear in the upper left region of the image but can be set to appear relative to the cursor. Note: The default minimum image size for the toolbar to appear over is “260 x 260 pixels” so you will probably want to change it to a much smaller size (see options below). Here is what is available in the Image Toolbar: Save – Choose between being prompted when saving or automatically saving to a specified location Copy – Copies image and image URL so that you can paste the image or URL depending on the app pasted into Print – Provides print preview and printing capabilities Info – Opens a window with “properties information” about the image Folder – Opens browser’s download folder in Windows Explorer The “Save, Copy, Print, & Folder Commands” are all pretty clear in what you can expect from them but what about the “Info Command”? This is what you will see if you use the “Info Command” and expand the window out all the way. Very nice… Options There are quite a few options available for what appears to be such a small toolbar. The first “Tab Area” lets you set up the “Save Scheme” that best suits your personal needs. You can choose which commands are available in the toolbar, decide if you would like text labels visible, and enable small icons if desired. As mentioned above the default image size for the toolbar to appear is “260 x 260 pixels”…we set ours for “10 x 10 pixels”. If you would like the toolbar to appear relative to your mouse cursor as opposed to the upper left corner of the image then you can select for that here. Conclusion If you have been wanting more options for working with webpage images in Firefox then this will make a very useful and convenient addition to your browser. • Preview Before You Paste with Live Preview in Office 2010

    - by DigitalGeekery
Do you often find yourself frustrated that content you just copied and pasted didn’t turn out the way you expected? With the new Live Preview in Office 2010, you can preview how copied content will look when it’s pasted even between Office applications. Not every paste preview option will be available in every circumstance. The available options will be based on the applications being used and what content is copied. Copy your content like normal by right-clicking and selecting Copy, pressing Crtl + C, or selecting Copy from the Home tab. Next, select your location to paste the content. Now you can access the Paste Preview buttons either by selecting the Paste dropdown list from the Home tab…   …Or by right-clicking. As you hover your cursor over each of the Paste Options buttons, you will see a preview of what it will look like if you paste using that option. Click the corresponding button when you find the paste option you like. The “Paste” will paste all the content and formatting as you can see below. Values will paste values only, no formatting.   Formatting will paste only the formatting, no values. Hover over Paste Special to reveal any additional paste options. The process is similar in other Office applications. As you can see in the Word document below, Keep Text Only will paste the text, but not the orange color format from the original text.   Even after you’ve pasted, there is still time to change your mind. After you paste content you’ll see a Paste Option button near your content. If you don’t, you can pull it up by pressing the Ctrl key. Note: This is also available after using Ctrl + V to paste. Click to enable the dropdown and select one of the available options.   Using Live Paste Preview between multiple applications is just as easy. If we preview pasting the content from our Word document into PowerPoint by using the Keep Source Formatting option, we’ll see that the outcome looks awful. • Introducing the Metro User Interface on Windows 2012

    - by andywe
Although I am a big fan of using PowerShell to do many of my server operations, that aspect is well covered by those far more knowledgeable than I, and there is vast information around the web already on that. The new Metro interface, and getting around both Windows 8 and Windows Server 2012 though is relatively new, even for those whop ran the previews. What is this? A blank Desktop!   Where did the start button go? Well, it is still there...sort of. It is hidden, and acts like an auto hidden component that appear only when the mouse is hovered over the lower left corner of the screen. Those familiar with Gnome or OSX can relate this to the "Hot Corners" functions. To get to the start button, hover your mouse in the very left corner of the task bar. Let it sit there a moment, and a small blue square with colored tiles in it called start will appear. Click it. I clicked it and now I have all the tiles..What is this?   Welcome to the Metro interface. This is a much more modern look, and although at first seems weird and cumbersome, I have actually found that it is a bit more extensible, allowing greater organization and customization than the older explorer desktop. If you look closely, you'll see each box represents either a program, or program group. First, a few basics about using the start view. First and foremost, a right mouse click will bring up a bar on the bottom, with an icon towards the right. Notice it is titled “All Apps”. An even easier way in many places is to hover your mouse in the exact opposite corner, in the upper right. A sidebar will open and expose what used to be a widget bar (remember Vista?), and there are options for Search, Start, and Settings.   Ok Great, but where is everything? It’s all there…Click the All Apps icon.   Look better? Notice the scroll bar at the bottom. Move it right..your desktop is sized to your content..so you can have a smaller, or larger amount of programs exposed. Each icon can be secondary clicked (right mouse click for most of us, and an options bar at the bottom, rather than the old small context menu, is opened with some very familiar options.   Notice the top of the Windows Explorer window has some new features. You still have your right mouse click functions, but since the shortcuts for these items already exist..just copy them. There are many ways, but here is a long way to show you more of the interface. 1. Right mouse click a program icon, and select the Open File Location option. 2. Trusty file manager opens…but if you look closely up at top edge of the window, you’ll see a nifty enhancement. An orange colored box that is titled Shortcut Tools and another lavender box Title Application tools. Each of these adds options at the top of the file manager window to make selection easy. Of course, you can still secondary click an item in the listing window too. 3. Click shortcut tools, right click your app shortcut and copy it. Then simply paste it into the desktop outside the File Explorer window Also note some of the newer features. The large icons up top below the menu that has many common operations. The options change as you select each menu item. Well, that’s it for this installment. I hope this helps you out.

  • CSS : z-index failed to make popup container ?

    - by justjoe
i got this css stylesheet code #nav li ul { position: absolute; visibility: hidden; float: none; top: 42px; left: 0px; width: 150px; margin: 0; padding: 5px 10px 6px 10px; z-index: 10000; border: 1px solid #C0ACB2; border-bottom-width: 2px; border-bottom-color: #AF9DA3; border-top: 0; background-color: #fff; opacity: 0.97; } #nav li:hover ul, #nav li.iehover ul { visibility: visible; } i want to make every #nav to be hidden and then displayed when cursor hover around it. But the problem is everytime is show, it's overlapped by other div. it's seem z-index is not working to make the #nav li ul becoming the front container. i'm testing it in firefox and flock.

  • JQuery fadeIn() moving other CSS elements on fadeIn()

    - by Infiniti Fizz
Hi, I've just been learning some jQUery to get a basic image gallery going on a website I'm creating for a hotel but it's currently not going to plan. I've got it so the arrows will cycle through images (no animation yet) but I decided that the arrows should fade in when the image is hovered over and fade out when not but this is messing up the CSS somehow. The arrows start faded out by calling: $('.arrowRight').fadeOut(0);$('.arrowLeft').fadeOut(0); at the start of the jQuery ready() function. This is fine, but when you hover over the image and the arrows fade in, the image shifts to the right and I don't know why. I suppose it could be because the left arrow now fading in means it is getting pushed over by it but the arrow has the following css: position:relative; top: -90px; left: 25px; Should a relative element be able to alter a normal element's position? If you need to try it out, just hover over the large (placeholder) image and they image will jump across when the arrows fade in and jump back when they fade out. Any ideas why this is happening? I'm a jQuery noob. Here is a link to the page: BeanSheaf Hotel Temporary Space Thanks for your time, InfinitiFizz

  • jQuery cycle plugin customizing

    - by spirax
I'm using the jQuery Cycle plugin to start a slidshow of images when hovering over the initial image. This works fine. What I want after that is to have the slideshow stop when hovered off, and have a manual slideshow (next/prev buttons) start. This currently works, but the slideshow starts from the beginning each time it's initialized. I want it to begin at the current image that's loaded. I was playing around with getting the image's index from the DOM (as it's the only one with display:block) and using the option 'startingSlide' to resume it, but my index keeps returning as -1. jQuery('#home-menu li').hover(function() { setImages(jQuery(this).attr('title'), jQuery(this).find('.subtitle').text()); jQuery('#main .blog #projects .gallery .slideshow').cycle( { fx: 'scrollHorz', easing: 'easeOutBounce', speed: 2000, delay: 0 }); }, function() { // Before loading the images for the clickable slideshow, find the current image in the DOM array to use as the starting position slideshowStart = jQuery('.gallery .slideshow img:visible').index(this); console.log('Index: ' + slideshowStart); setImages(jQuery(this).attr('title'), jQuery(this).find('.subtitle').text()); jQuery('#main .blog #projects .gallery .slideshow').cycle('stop').cycle( { fx: 'scrollHorz', easing: 'easeOutBounce', startingSlide: slideshowStart, speed: 2000, timeout: 0, next: "#main .blog #projects .gallery span.span2", prev: "#main .blog #projects .gallery span.span1" }); }); setImages() just loads images into the DOM based on what li is being hovered over. Nothing special there. I want the image to be resumed when hovered over and hovered off. I've left out the resume part for hover on for the moment while I was trying to get it working - In case you were wondering.

  • opacity and zIndex not getting set when hovered

    - by Catfish
    I'm messing around with a jquery carousel script and i'm trying to get it so when you hover over an image, the size will be doubled(which i have working) and the opacity will be 100. The script is here http://steph.net23.net/ImageCarousel/ This is the part i've added to double the width and height but the opacity is not taking effect. The original script came from here http://www.devirtuoso.com/2009/08/how-to-create-a-3d-tag-cloud-in-jquery/ $('#list a img').hover( function() { clearInterval(go); $(this).css('height', '200px'); $(this).css('width', '400px'); $(this).css('margin-left', '-100px'); $(this).css('opacity', '100'); var opac = $(this).css('opacity'); $(this).css('zIndex', '0'); var z = $(this).css('zIndex'); console.log("opacity = "+opac); console.log("zindex = "+z); }, function() { go = setInterval(render, 20); $(this).css('height', '100px'); $(this).css('width', '200px'); $(this).css('margin-left', '0'); });

  • Make an image transparent in IE to show non-transparent background

    - by Select0r
Hi, I'm trying to get this thing to work in IE (any version - works in FF, Opera, Safari, Chrome ...): I have a DIV with a background-image. The DIV also contains an image that should be transparent onMouseOver. The expected behaviour now is that the DIV-background would shine through the transparent image (which it does in all browsers but IE). Instead it looks like the image is getting transparent but on a white background, I can't see the DIV's background through the image. Here's some code: <div><a href="#" class"dragItem"><img /></a></div> And some CSS: .dojoDndItemOver { cursor : pointer; filter : alpha(opacity = 50); opacity : 0.5; -moz-opacity : 0.5; -khtml-opacity : 0.5; } .dragItem:hover { filter : alpha(opacity = 30); opacity : 0.3; -moz-opacity : 0.3; -khtml-opacity : 0.3; background : none; } All of this is embedded in a Dojo Drag-n-Drop-system, so dojoDndItemOver will automatically be set to the DIV on MouseOver, dragItem is set to the href around the image (using the same class on the image directly doesn't work at all as IE doesn't support "hover" on other items that href). Any ideas? Or is it an IE-speciality to just "simulate" transparency on images by somehow just greying them out instead of providing real transparency and showing whatever is beneath?

  • Get the parent id..

    - by tixrus
I have a bunch of elements like the following: <div class="droppableP" id="s-NSW" style="width:78px; height:63px; position: absolute; top: 223px; left: 532px;"> </div> They all have class droppableP but different id's obviously and I would like to factor the code in this script I am hacking on. The original script just has a specific selector for each of one of these divs, but the code is all alike except for the id it does things to, which is either the id of the parent or another div with a name that's related to it. Here is the original code specifically for this div: $("#s-NSW > .sensible").droppable( { accept : "#i-NSW", tolerance : 'intersect', activeClass : 'droppable-active', hoverClass : 'droppable-hover', drop : function() { $('#s-NSW').addClass('s-NSW'); $('#s-NSW').addClass('encastrada'); //can't move any more.. $('#i-NSW').remove(); $('#s-NSW').animate( { opacity: 0.25 },200, 'linear'); checkWin(); } }); Here is how I would like to factor so the same code can do all of them and I will eventually do chaining as well and maybe get rid of the inline styles but here is my first go: $(".droppableP > .sensible").droppable( { accept : "#i" + $(this).parent().attr('id').substring(2), tolerance : 'intersect', activeClass : 'droppable-active', hoverClass : 'droppable-hover', drop : function() { $(this).parent().addClass($(this).parent().attr('id')); $(this).parent().addClass('encastrada'); $("#i" + ($this).parent().attr('id').substring(2)).remove(); $(this).parent().animate( { opacity: 0.25 },200, 'linear'); checkWin(); } }); The error I get is $(this).parent().attr("id") is undefined Many thanks. I have browsed related questions the one I understand that's closest to mine, turns out they didn't need parent function at all. I'm kind of a noob so please don't yell at me too hard if this is a stupid question.
