  Hello, This seems like a pretty simple question but haven't found an answer anywhere: How do I make an app that doesn't ask for permission when you load it? Or is that impossible. • Can't append space at end of NSString

  I have a UITextView in which I want the initial value to be "@username " (notice the space after the username). This way the user can start typing right away without having to tap space. So I do: textView.text = [NSString stringWithFormat:@"@%@ ", username]; But it seems like it's impossible to have an NSString ending with a space (it always gets stripped out). Am I correct? Is there any workaround for this?

  Hi, I am trying to read the boost headers to figure out how they managed to implement the or_<...> and and_<...> metafunctions so that: 1) They can have an arbitrary number of arguments (ok, say up to 5 arguments) 2) They have short circuit behavior, for example: or_<false_,true_,...> does not instantiate whatever is after true_ (so it can also be declared but not defined) Unfortunately the pre-processor metaprogramming is making my task impossible for me :P Thank you in advance for any help/suggestion.

But how do other FTP clients manage to distinguish files and folders? Is there an unwritten standard or such?

  Isn't port forwarding managed by the router? Like, I've googled up some software applications that seem to port forward with great success, but it technically seems to be impossible. The packet must first go to the router. The router must forward it to the correct computer based on port forwarding rules. So how can a software application manage port forwarding if the packet must GO to the computer running this software application in the first place, meaning that port forwarding already is successful in the first place?

• stat() doesn't find a file in c++

  on Linux 12.04 I have an executable file located in say: /a/b/exe and a config file on /a/b/config when doing: cd /a/b/ ./exe everything's ok and the stat function finds the file config on /a/b/ HOWEVER,when running from root /a/b/exe the stat doesn't find the config file any idea why? it makes it impossible to run the binary using a script that isn't ran from the folder of the exe.... Test install crashed and left lots of debris: service shows in the list of services but will not start ('Referenced file does not exist'), is impossible to uninstall ('Action valid only for services that are installed') and is not shown in the Programs and Features aplet. Is this possible as I know that conversion is impossible?

  I'd like to host a WCF web service in IIS. The service should keep a certain set of data all the time, it must never be lost. My colleague told me this is impossible because IIS closes down the service after a certain time (I assume without any activity). Is that true? How do I prevent that behavior?   By security I mean that encoded string is indistinguishable from random noise and is different on every encryption of the same text so it is impossible to make a guess on encryption algorithm used or do any dictionary attack on the encoded text. Second: output string length does not correspond to the input string length in easy way, so it is not possible of make guessing on that account. Third: it is possible to verify that the provided password is incorrect so the decoding function could return false instead of supposedly decoded random string.

  Explicitly setting dependency in VS2010 between unmanaged C++ project and C# project is honored in VS2010, but dependency is ignored in MSBuild 4.0. It is impossible to add a reference to unmanaged C++ project from C# project, afaik. How do i ensure correct build order if a solution contains unmanaged and managed projects?

  I think I'm overlooking something simple here, I can't imagine this is impossible to do. I want to filter by a datetime attribute and then order the result by a ranking integer attribute. When I try to do this: query.filter("submitted >=" thisweek).order("ranking") I get the following: BadArgumentError: First ordering property must be the same as inequality filter property, if specified for this query; received ranking, expected submitted Huh? This is a pain to do manually and in versions of Excel before 2007 it sometimes seems impossible to do manually. Anyone have a sample?   The function midiOutGetDevCaps returns a structure MIDIOUTCAPS. I'd need more specific information when querying a usb midi device on windows xp, in particular I'd need the information displayed under "Location" when opening the respective device using the Device Manager. I need this information in order to programmatically distinguish between several MIDI Interfaces connected to a computer. Using midiOutGetDevCaps, I uniformly get "USB Audio Device" for every midi usb interface connected to the computer, so distinguishing between the interfaces is impossible.

  Faced problem while setting background color for any element in Visual Studio 2010 editor. Selection color doesn't override this background color. So then it's very inconvenient to work with selections in editor. Case when only string literal is selected it's almost impossible to distinguish colors and see what part of string is selected.
