  • Flattening out a lib directory using jarjar

    - by voodoogiant
I'm trying to flatten out the lib directory of a project using jarjar, where it will produce a jar file with my main code and all my required libraries inside of it. I can get the project code into the jar, but I need to find a way to get every jar in the './lib/' directory extracted to the base directory of the final output jar. I don't want it flattened in the sense that I still want the package hiearchy preserved. I could manually list every jar file using zipfileset, but I was hoping to do it dynamically. I would also like to include any *.so files flattened into the base directory of the output jar so I can extract them into a temp dir easily without having to search through the jar. For example my lib directory... ./lib/library1.jar ./lib/library2.jar ./lib/foo/library3.jar ./lib/foo/bar.so would look like this when cracked open in the output jar file... /..library1_package_hierarchy../lib1.class /..library1_package_heirarchy../lib2.class ... (and so on) /..library2_package_hierarchy../lib1.class /..library2_package_heirarchy../lib2.class ... (and so on) /..library3_package_hierarchy../lib1.class <-- foo gone /..library3_package_heirarchy../lib2.class <-- foo gone /bar.so <-- foo gone

  • Simple script - execute command on selected file

    - by askmoo
I want to make a script that will execute .jar file on selected file. Later I will add that script to right-click menu via the tool Nautilus Actions or just place it into nautilus-scripts folder. I have a problem creating script. When I am in a usual console screen and want to execute this jar file on any other file, I use this syntax myfile.jar ./someotherfile.xml and the jar file will write the output to the console screen. So I created a file script.sh, added lines in it #!/bin/bash /home/username/myfile.jar $1 But it does not output anything. I know I am doing something wrong. Please help. To sum, I need a script that will use selected file as a parameter, open the gnome-terminal, inside that terminal it will start JAR file and pass it the selected file. I am confident that this is a very simple procedure, but I am total newbie with shell scripting.

  • How to make a jar file run on startup & and when you log out?

    - by RanZilber
I have no idea where to start looking. I've been reading about daemons and didn't understand the concept. More details : I've been writing a crawler which never stops and crawlers over RSS in the internet. The crawler has been written in java - therefore its a jar right now. I'm an administrator on a machine that has Ubuntu 11.04 . There is some chances for the machine to crash , so I'd like the crawler to run every time you startup the machine. Furthermore, I'd like it to keep running even when i logged out. I'm not sure this is possible, but most of the time I'm logged out, and I still want to it crawl. Any ideas? Can someone point me in the right direction? Just looking for the simplest solution.

  • Convention location for JAR files for a LaunchDaemon on OS X?

    - by Barry Wark
    I'm setting up a Hudson build slave on an OS X machine. I'm using launchd to start the slave using the following plist in `/Library/LaunchDaemons/': <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <!DOCTYPE plist PUBLIC "-//Apple//DTD PLIST 1.0//EN" "http://www.apple.com/DTDs/PropertyList-1.0.dtd"> <plist version="1.0"> <dict> <key>KeepAlive</key> <true/> <key>Label</key> <string>org.hudson-ci.jnlpslave</string> <key>ProgramArguments</key> <array> <string>/usr/bin/java</string> <string>-jar</string> <string>/Users/Shared/Hudson/slave.jar</string> <string>-noCertificateCheck</string> <string>-jnlpUrl</string> <string>file:///Users/Shared/Hudson/slave-agent.jnlp</string> </array> <key>RunAtLoad</key> <true/> </dict> </plist> I'm currently putting the slave.jar and slave-agent.jnlp files in /Users/Shared/Hudson but this seems like an unnecessarily user-visible location. What's the convention? Where should I be putting these JARs for a daemon?

  • When running a .jar application with OpenJDK, my keyboard becomes unresponsive?

    - by Mochan
I recently downloaded a Java application with the .jar format, and had it running on my computer not so long ago. Now that I'm using my desktop instead of laptop temporarily, I want it to run. On my laptop it was a tremendous hassle to get OpenJDK to even run the application without it going black, and now on my desktop I don't have that problem. However, when I run the application, my keyboard becomes unresponsive and doesn't type at all. This is a really big problem because it's demands the use of a keyboard. It works as normal on my laptop though, and it works perfectly. But now on the desktop its completely useless. I don't know if there's like a keyboard driver I'm missing, but there shouldn't be because the keyboard runs flawlessly everywhere else. I'm using OpenJDK 6 because the 7 has the same 'black screen' I mentioned, so I need this to work within OpenJDK 6. Thanks so much in advance and I'll try to specify as many details as I can. M

  • Strange Play Framework 2.2 exceptions after trying to add MySQL / slick

    - by Mike Cialowicz
I'm working on a Play 2.2 application, and things have gone a bit south on me since I've tried adding my DB layer. Below are my build.sbt dependencies. As you can see I use mysql-connector-java and play-slick: libraryDependencies ++= Seq( jdbc, anorm, cache, "joda-time" % "joda-time" % "2.3", "mysql" % "mysql-connector-java" % "5.1.26", "com.typesafe.play" %% "play-slick" % "0.5.0.8", "com.aetrion.flickr" % "flickrapi" % "1.1" ) My application.conf has some similarly simple DB stuff in it: db.default.url="jdbc:mysql://localhost/myDb" db.default.driver="com.mysql.jdbc.Driver" db.default.user="root" db.default.pass="" This is what it looks like when my Play server starts: [info] play - Listening for HTTP on /0:0:0:0:0:0:0:0:9000 (Server started, use Ctrl+D to stop and go back to the console...) [info] Compiling 1 Scala source to C:\bbq\cats\in\space [info] play - database [default] connected at jdbc:mysql://localhost/myDb [info] play - Application started (Dev) So, it appears that Play can connect to the MySQL DB just fine (I think). However, I get this exception when I make any request to my server: [error] p.nettyException - Exception caught in Netty java.lang.NoSuchMethodError: akka.actor.ActorSystem.dispatcher()Lscala/concurren t/ExecutionContext; at play.core.Invoker$.<init>(Invoker.scala:24) ~[play_2.10.jar:2.2.0] at play.core.Invoker$.<clinit>(Invoker.scala) ~[play_2.10.jar:2.2.0] at play.api.libs.concurrent.Execution$Implicits$.defaultContext$lzycompu te(Execution.scala:7) ~[play_2.10.jar:2.2.0] at play.api.libs.concurrent.Execution$Implicits$.defaultContext(Executio n.scala:6) ~[play_2.10.jar:2.2.0] at play.api.libs.concurrent.Execution$.<init>(Execution.scala:10) ~[play _2.10.jar:2.2.0] at play.api.libs.concurrent.Execution$.<clinit>(Execution.scala) ~[play_ 2.10.jar:2.2.0] The odd thing is that the 2nd request (to the exact same URL, same controller, no changes) comes back with a different error: [error] p.nettyException - Exception caught in Netty java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: Could not initialize class play.api.libs.concurr ent.Execution$ at play.core.server.netty.PlayDefaultUpstreamHandler.handleAction$1(Play DefaultUpstreamHandler.scala:194) ~[play_2.10.jar:2.2.0] at play.core.server.netty.PlayDefaultUpstreamHandler.messageReceived(Pla yDefaultUpstreamHandler.scala:169) ~[play_2.10.jar:2.2.0] at com.typesafe.netty.http.pipelining.HttpPipeliningHandler.messageRecei ved(HttpPipeliningHandler.java:62) ~[netty-http-pipelining.jar:na] at org.jboss.netty.handler.codec.http.HttpContentDecoder.messageReceived (HttpContentDecoder.java:108) ~[netty-3.6.5.Final.jar:na] at org.jboss.netty.channel.Channels.fireMessageReceived(Channels.java:29 6) ~[netty-3.6.5.Final.jar:na] at org.jboss.netty.handler.codec.frame.FrameDecoder.unfoldAndFireMessage Received(FrameDecoder.java:459) ~[netty-3.6.5.Final.jar:na] The URL / controller that I'm requesting just renders a static web page and doesn't do anything of any significance. It was working just fine before I started adding my DB layer. I'm rather stuck. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks. • Configure JBOss cache to run on JBoss server 4.2.3.GA

    - by Spiderman
Our commercial application used to run on different application server and letely we started adjust it to run on JBoss server. The problem is that that application runs JBoss cache and as part of the integration with this framework, the web-inf\lib contains the follwing jars: jboss-aop.jar, jbosscache-core.jar, jboss-common.jar, jboss-common-core.jar, jboss-j2ee.jar, jboss-jmx.jar, jboss-logging-spi.jar This causes a problem to use JNDI through the application because the jboss-common-core.jar contain naming package that cause JBoss JNDI to work incorrect. So I need to find a way to organise my jars that on one hand jboss cache will keep working and on the other hand not to interfere to the work of JNDI Perhaps it include moving the some or all those jars from the web-inf\lib to the /server/default/lib Looking for someone who is familiar in this subject (continue of this thread: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2847375/problem-configure-jboss-to-work-with-jndi3 )

  • Maven best practice for generating multiple jars with different/filtered classes ?

    - by jaguard
I developed a Java utility library (similarly to Apache Commons) that I use in various projects. Additionally to fat clients I also use it for mobile clients (PDA with J9 Foundation profile). In time the library that started as a single project spread over multiple packages. As a result I end up with a lot of functionality but not really needed in all the projects. Since this library is also used inside some mobile/PDA projects I need a way to collect just the used classes and generate the actual specialized jars Currently in the projects that area using this library, I have Ant jar tasks that generate (from the utility project) the specialized jar files (ex: my-util-1.0-pda.jar, my-util-1.0-rcp.jar) using include/exclude jar task features. This is mostly needed due to the generated jar size constraints for the mobile projects. Migrating now to Maven I just wonder if there are any best practices to arrive to something similar so I consider the following scenarios: [1] - additionally to the main jar artifact (my-lib-1.0.jar) also generating inside my-lib project the separate/specialized artifacts using classifiers (ex: my-lib-1.0-pda.jar) using Maven Jar Plugin or Maven Assembly Plugin filtering/includes ... I'm not very comfortable with this approach since it pollute the library with library consumers demands (filters) [2] - Create additional Maven projects for all the specialized clients/projects, that will "wrap" the "my-lib" and generate the filtered jar artifacts (ex: my-lib-wrapper-pda-1.0 ...etc). As a result, these wrapper projects will include the filtering (to generate the filtered artifact) and will depend just on the "my-lib" project and the client projects will depend on my-lib-wrapper-xxx-1.0 instead of my-lib-1.0. This approach my look problematic since even that will let "my-lib" project intact (with no additional classifiers & artifacts), basically will double the number of projects since for every client project I'll have one just to collect the needed classes from the "my-util" library ("my-pda-app" project will need a "my-lib-wrapper-for-my-pda-app" project/dependency) [3] - Into the every client project that use the library (ex: my-pda-app) add some specialized Maven plugins to trim - out (when generating the final artifact/package) the un-needed classes (ex: maven-assembly-plugin, maven-jar-plugin, proguard-maven-plugin) What is the best practice for solving this kind of problems in the "Maven way" ?!

  • Why is there a seemingly identical copy of the JDK 1.5 core runtime in org.osgi.foundation-1.0.0.jar?

    - by Jonathan Neufeld
I am maintaining a web application that depends on OSGi and Maven pulls-in a jar called org.osgi-foundation-1.0.0.jar that seems to contain the same classes as part of the JDK core runtime such as: java.util.*; java.io.*; etc. and so on. This seems very strange and I have to ask why this is necessary. More-over, my web-application fails to deploy on JBoss 6 because these are "illegal package names" for a third-party library. What is the purpose of org.osgi-foundation-1.0.0.jar ? is it necessary?

  • Passing arguments to java vm from NSIS script

    - by CodeBuddy
I'm developing my first java application using Eclipse. I've recently needed to adjust the amount of memory allocated by passing -Xmx256M to the JVM. The application is currently package up as a runnable jar and installed using the NSIS. I'm having a problem passing arguments to the jar file once its installed. What is the common practice for doing this? Here is what I'm currently doing in my nsi file: CreateShortcut "$SMPROGRAMS\$StartMenuGroup\$(^Name).lnk" "$SYSDIR\javaw.exe" "-jar -Xmx256M $INSTDIR\Foo.jar" This results in the following being created as the shortcut Target on windows: C:\WINDOWS\system32\javaw.exe -jar -Xmx256M C:\Program Files\Foo\Foo.jar Unfortunately this does not work due to the space in C:\Program Files, If I change the link created manually to include quotes all is well: C:\WINDOWS\system32\javaw.exe -jar -Xmx256M "C:\Program Files\Foo\Foo.jar"

  • JBoss 6 unpacks jars from WEB-INF/lib of war

    - by Maxym
when I start JBoss 6 I see that it unpacks all jar files from WEB-INF/lib in tmp/vfs/automountXXX folder. E.g. jackrabbit-server.war contains library asm-3.1.jar, then in tmp folder I see the following folders with files: asm-3.1.jar-83dc35ead0d41d41/asm-3.1.jar asm-3.1.jar-2a48f1c13ec7f25d/contents/"unpacked asm-3.1.jar" it does not take files from my.ear/lib only WEB-INF/lib... Why is it so? And is here any way to prevent it doing so? It just slows down application server starting (and stopping), what is not that comfortable at development... If it is somehow related to JavaEE 6 specification and ejb-jars, which can be located now in WEB-INF/lib, so I don't have such libraries in my war files... UPDATE: actually when I repack jackrabbit-server.war to jackrabbit-server.ear which contains jackrabbit-server.war and moved all its libraries to jackrabbit-server.ear/lib then I still see two folders in tmp: asm-3.1.jar-215a36131ebb088e/asm-3.1.jar asm-3.1.jar-14695f157664f00/contents/ but in this case last folder is empty. So it still creates two folders, but does not unpack my library. Also I use exploded deployment so the question is only about jar files, not unpacking ear/war.

I have two maven modules, one that ends up as a jar, and one war that depends on that jar. I want the jar module to package it's source code together with the compiled classes in the jar, so that the second module is able to access it. I have tried using the maven-source-plugin, but I am confused as to how to add a dependency on the output of that. It seems that the dependency by default goes to the compiled jar, and not the source-code jar (ending with "-source.jar") that maven-source-plugin creates. How do I add the "-source.jar" as a dependency, while still preserving the dependency on the compiled sources?
