  • Out Of Memory error while executing mysqldump

    - by Nishaz Salam
    Hi, I am getting the following error when trying to backup a database using mysqldump from the command prompt. C:\Documents and Settings\bobC:\Adobe\LiveCycle8.2\mysql\bin\mysqldump --quick --add-locks --lock-tables -c --default-character-set=utf8 --skip-opt -pxxxx -u adobe -r C:\Adobe\LiveCycle8.2\configurationManager\working\upgrade\mysql\adobe. sql -B adobe --port=3306 --host=localhost mysqldump: Out of memory (Needed 10380928 bytes) mysqldump: Got error: 2008: MySQL client ran out of memory when retrieving data from server As you can see i am using the --quick and --skip-opt too; cannot figure out what is causing the issue. The server log has the following messages 100420 15:16:39 InnoDB: Error: cannot allocate 4814100 bytes of memory for InnoDB: a BLOB with malloc! Total allocated memory InnoDB: by InnoDB 33427880 bytes. Operating system errno: 2 InnoDB: Check if you should increase the swap file or InnoDB: ulimits of your operating system. Table name adobe/tb_form_data Any help on this regard is highly appreciated P.S: The backup works fine without any issues when i use the MYSQL Administrator, but since an external app( adobe livecycle installer) uses the above command to backup the database during install, i need to get this working. Thanks, Nishaz Salam

  • Passing Variable Length Arrays to a function

    - by David Bella
    I have a variable length array that I am trying to pass into a function. The function will shift the first value off and return it, and move the remaining values over to fill in the missing spot, putting, let's say, a -1 in the newly opened spot. I have no problem passing an array declared like so: int framelist[128]; shift(framelist); However, I would like to be able to use a VLA declared in this manner: int *framelist; framelist = malloc(size * sizeof(int)); shift(framelist); I can populate the arrays the same way outside the function call without issue, but as soon as I pass them into the shift function, the one declared in the first case works fine, but the one in the second case immediately gives a segmentation fault. Here is the code for the queue function, which doesn't do anything except try to grab the value from the first part of the array... int shift(int array[]) { int value = array[0]; return value; } Any ideas why it won't accept the VLA? I'm still new to C, so if I am doing something fundamentally wrong, let me know.

  • BN_hex2bn magically segfaults in openSSL

    - by xunil154
    Greetings, this is my first post on stackoverflow, and i'm sorry if its a bit long. I'm trying to build a handshake protocol for my own project and am having issues with the server converting the clients RSA's public key to a Bignum. It works in my clent code, but the server segfaults when attempting to convert the hex value of the clients public RSA to a bignum. I have already checked that there is no garbidge before or after the RSA data, and have looked online, but i'm stuck. header segment: typedef struct KEYS { RSA *serv; char* serv_pub; int pub_size; RSA *clnt; } KEYS; KEYS keys; Initializing function: // Generates and validates the servers key /* code for generating server RSA left out, it's working */ //Set client exponent keys.clnt = 0; keys.clnt = RSA_new(); BN_dec2bn(&keys.clnt->e, RSA_E_S); // RSA_E_S contains the public exponent Problem code (in Network::server_handshake): // *Recieved an encrypted message from the network and decrypt into 'buffer' (1024 byte long)* cout << "Assigning clients RSA" << endl; // I have verified that 'buffer' contains the proper key if (BN_hex2bn(&keys.clnt->n, buffer) < 0) { Error("ERROR reading server RSA"); } cout << "clients RSA has been assigned" << endl; The program segfaults at BN_hex2bn(&keys.clnt->n, buffer) with the error (valgrind output) Invalid read of size 8 at 0x50DBF9F: BN_hex2bn (in /usr/lib/libcrypto.so.0.9.8) by 0x40F23E: Network::server_handshake() (Network.cpp:177) by 0x40EF42: Network::startNet() (Network.cpp:126) by 0x403C38: main (server.cpp:51) Address 0x20 is not stack'd, malloc'd or (recently) free'd Process terminating with default action of signal 11 (SIGSEGV) Access not within mapped region at address 0x20 at 0x50DBF9F: BN_hex2bn (in /usr/lib/libcrypto.so.0.9.8) And I don't know why it is, Im using the exact same code in the client program, and it works just fine. Any input is greatly appriciated!

  • Pointer problem in C for char*

    - by egebilmuh
    Hi guys, i use pointer for holding name and research lab property. But when i print the existing Vertex ,when i print the vertex, i cant see so -called attributes properly. For example though real value of name is "lancelot" , i see it as wrong such as "asdasdasdasd" struct vertex { int value; char*name; char* researchLab; struct vertex *next; struct edge *list; }; void GRAPHinsertV(Graph G, int value,char*name,char*researchLab) { //create new Vertex. Vertex newV = malloc(sizeof newV); // set value of new variable to which belongs the person. newV->value = value; newV->name=name; newV->researchLab=researchLab; newV->next = G->head; newV->list = NULL; G->head = newV; G->V++; } /*** The method creates new person. **/ void createNewPerson(Graph G) { int id; char name[30]; char researchLab[30]; // get requeired variables. printf("Enter id of the person to be added.\n"); scanf("%d",&id); printf("Enter name of the person to be added.\n"); scanf("%s",name); printf("Enter researc lab of the person to be added\n"); scanf("%s",researchLab); // insert the people to the social network. GRAPHinsertV(G,id,name,researchLab); } void ListAllPeople(Graph G) { Vertex tmp; Edge list; for(tmp = G->head;tmp!=NULL;tmp=tmp->next) { fprintf(stdout,"V:%d\t%s\t%s\n",tmp->value,tmp->name,tmp->researchLab); } system("pause"); }

  • Unexplained crashs with coregraphic

    - by Ziggy
    Hello there, i'm on this bug for a week now, and i can't solve it. I have some crash with coregraphic calls, it happen randomly (sometimes after 2 mn, or just at the start), but often at the same places in the code. I have a class that just wrap a CGContext, it have a CGContextRef as member. This Object is re-created each time DrawRect() is called, so the CGContextRef is always up-to-date. The draw calls came from the main thread, only After looking for this kind of error, it appear that it should be object Release related. Here is an example of an error : #0 0x90d8a7a7 in ___forwarding___ #1 0x90d8a8b2 in __forwarding_prep_0___ #2 0x90d0d0b6 in CFRetain #3 0x95e54a5d in CGColorRetain #4 0x95e5491d in CGGStateCreateCopy #5 0x95e5486d in CGGStackSave #6 0x95e54846 in CGContextSaveGState #7 0x00073500 in CAutoContextState::CAutoContextState at Context.cpp:47 the AutoContextSave() class look like this : class CAutoContextState { private: CGContextRef m_Hdc; public: CAutoContextState(const CGContextRef& Hdc) { m_Hdc = Hdc; CGContextSaveGState(m_Hdc); } virtual ~CAutoContextState() { CGContextRestoreGState(m_Hdc); } }; It crash at CGContextSaveGState(m_Hdc). Here is what i see into GDB: * -[Not A Type retain]: message sent to deallocated instance 0x16a148b0. • Qt/C++, Problems with large QImage

    - by David Günzel
    I'm pretty new to C++/Qt and I'm trying to create an application with Visual Studio C++ and Qt (4.8.3). The application displays images using a QGraphicsView, I need to change the images at pixel level. The basic code is (simplified): QImage* img = new QImage(img_width,img_height,QImage::Format_RGB32); while(do_some_stuff) { img->setPixel(x,y,color); } QGraphicsPixmapItem* pm = new QGraphicsPixmapItem(QPixmap::fromImage(*img)); QGraphicsScene* sc = new QGraphicsScene; sc->setSceneRect(0,0,img->width(),img->height()); sc->addItem(pm); ui.graphicsView->setScene(sc); This works well for images up to around 12000x6000 pixel. The weird thing happens beyond this size. When I set img_width=16000 and img_height=8000, for example, the line img = new QImage(...) returns a null image. The image data should be around 512,000,000 bytes, so it shouldn't be too large, even on a 32 bit system. Also, my machine (Win 7 64bit, 8 GB RAM) should be capable of holding the data. I've also tried this version: uchar* imgbuf = (uchar*) malloc(img_width*img_height*4); QImage* img = new QImage(imgbuf,img_width,img_height,QImage::Format_RGB32); At first, this works. The img pointer is valid and calling img-width() for example returns the correct image width (instead of 0, in case the image pointer is null). But as soon as I call img-setPixel(), the pointer becomes null and img-width() returns 0. So what am I doing wrong? Or is there a better way of modifying large images on pixel level? Regards, David

  • Communication between parent and child

    - by Pierre
    Hi every one ! I have a little problem. I have to code a simple C application that creat a process and his child (fork()) and I have to do an operation. Parent initialize the values and child calculate. I write this : #include #include #include #include #include typedef struct { int op1; char op; int op2; }Operation; Operation *varOP; void finalResult() { float result = 0; if(varOP-op == '+') result = (varOP-op1 + varOP-op2); if(varOP-op == '-') result = (varOP-op1 - varOP-op2); if(varOP-op == '*') result = (varOP-op1 * varOP-op2); if(varOP-op == '+') result = (varOP-op1 / varOP-op2); printf("%f",result); } int main () { int p; varOP = (Operation *)malloc(sizeof(Operation)); p = fork(); if(p == 0) // If child { signal(SIGUSR1, finalResult ); pause(); } if(p 0) // If parent { varOP-op = '+'; varOP-op1 = 2; varOP-op2 = 3; kill(p, SIGUSR1); wait(NULL); } return 0; } But my child is never called. Is there something wrong with my code? Thanks for your help !

  • FILE* issue PPU side code

    - by Cristina
    We are working on a homework on CELL programming for college and their feedback response to our questions is kinda slow, thought i can get some faster answers here. I have a PPU side code which tries to open a file passed down through char* argv[], however this doesn't work it cannot make the assignment of the pointer, i get a NULL. Now my first idea was that the file isn't in the correct directory and i copied in every possible and logical place, my second idea is that maybe the PPU wants this pointer in its LS area, but i can't deduce if that's the bug or not. So... My question is what am i doing wrong? I am working with a Fedora 7 SDK Cell, with Eclipse as an IDE. Maybe my argument setup is wrong tho he gets the name of the file correctly. Code on request: images_t *read_bin_data(char *name) { FILE *file; images_t *img; uint32_t *buffer; uint8_t buf; unsigned long fileLen; unsigned long i; //Open file file = (FILE*)malloc(sizeof(FILE)); file = fopen(name, "rb"); printf("[Debug]Opening file %s\n",name); if (!file) { fprintf(stderr, "Unable to open file %s", name); return NULL; } //....... } Main launch: int main(int argc,char* argv[]) { int i,img_width; int modif_this[4] __attribute__ ((aligned(16))) = {1,2,3,4}; images_t *faces, *nonfaces; spe_context_ptr_t ctxs[SPU_THREADS]; pthread_t threads[SPU_THREADS]; thread_arg_t arg[SPU_THREADS]; //intializare img_width img_width = atoi(argv[1]); printf("[Debug]Img size is %i\n",img_width); faces = read_bin_data(argv[3]); //....... } Thanks for the help.

  • Writing/Reading struct w/ dynamic array through pipe in C

    - by anrui
    I have a struct with a dynamic array inside of it: struct mystruct{ int count; int *arr; }mystruct_t; and I want to pass this struct down a pipe in C and around a ring of processes. When I alter the value of count in each process, it is changed correctly. My problem is with the dynamic array. I am allocating the array as such: mystruct_t x; x.arr = malloc( howManyItemsDoINeedToStore * sizeof( int ) ); Each process should read from the pipe, do something to that array, and then write it to another pipe. The ring is set up correctly; there's no problem there. My problem is that all of the processes, except the first one, are not getting a correct copy of the array. I initialize all of the values to, say, 10 in the first process; however, they all show up as 0 in the subsequent ones. for( j = 0; j < howManyItemsDoINeedToStore; j++ ){ x.arr[j] = 10; } Initally: 10 10 10 10 10 After Proc 1: 9 10 10 10 15 After Proc 2: 0 0 0 0 0 After Proc 3: 0 0 0 0 0 After Proc 4: 0 0 0 0 0 After Proc 5: 0 0 0 0 0 After Proc 1: 9 10 10 10 15 After Proc 2: 0 0 0 0 0 After Proc 3: 0 0 0 0 0 After Proc 4: 0 0 0 0 0 After Proc 5: 0 0 0 0 0 Now, if I alter my code to, say, struct mystruct{ int count; int arr[10]; }mystruct_t; everything is passed correctly down the pipe, no problem. I am using READ and WRITE, in C: write( STDOUT_FILENO, &x, sizeof( mystruct_t ) ); read( STDIN_FILENO, &x, sizeof( mystruct_t ) ); Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

  • Segmentation fault with queue in C

    I am getting a segmentation fault with the following code after adding structs to my queue. The segmentation fault occurs when the MAX_QUEUE is set high but when I set it low (100 or 200), the error doesn't occur. It has been a while since I last programmed in C, so any help is appreciated. #include <stdio.h> #include <stdlib.h> #include <string.h> #define MAX_QUEUE 1000 struct myInfo { char data[20]; }; struct myInfo* queue; void push(struct myInfo); int queue_head = 0; int queue_size = 0; int main(int argc, char *argv[]) { queue = (struct myInfo*) malloc(sizeof(struct myInfo) * MAX_QUEUE); struct myInfo info; char buf[10]; strcpy(buf, "hello"); while (1) { strcpy(info.data, buf); push(info); } } void push(struct myInfo info) { int next_index = sizeof(struct myInfo) * ((queue_size + queue_head) % MAX_QUEUE); printf("Pushing %s to %d\n", info.data, next_index); *(queue + (next_index)) = info; queue_size++; } Output: Pushing hello to 0 Pushing hello to 20 ...   • Problems Using memset and memcpy

    - by user306557
    So I am trying to create a Memory Management System. In order to do this I have a set amount of space (allocated by malloc) and then I have a function myMalloc which will essentially return a pointer to the space allocated. Since we will then try and free it, we are trying to set a header of the allocated space to be the size of the allocated space, using memset. memset(memPtr,sizeBytes,sizeof(int)); We then need to be able to read this so we can see the size of it. We are attempting to do this by using memcpy and getting the first sizeof(int) bytes into a variable. For testing purposes we are just trying to do memset and then immediately get the size back. I've included the entire method below so that you can see all declarations. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks! void* FirstFit::memMalloc(int sizeBytes){ node* listPtr = freelist; void* memPtr; // Cycle through each node in freelist while(listPtr != NULL) { if(listPtr->size >= sizeBytes) { // We found our space // This is where the new memory allocation begins memPtr = listPtr->head; memset(memPtr,sizeBytes,sizeof(int)); void *size; memcpy(size, memPtr, sizeof(memPtr)); // Now let's shrink freelist listPtr->size = listPtr->size - sizeBytes; int *temp = (int*)listPtr->head + (sizeBytes*sizeof(int)); listPtr->head = (int*) temp; return memPtr; } listPtr = listPtr->next; }

  • Why did instruments report a leak while its ref count did become zero

    - by bromj
    Hello guys, green hand i am. I'm using instruments, and it did a great help to me so far, but I'm confused now 'cause it report a memory leak to me while its leaked block history shows me that the ref count of that memory had finally become 0. What does it mean? It's really embarrassing that I couldn't post a image here... so I have to describe it in text. • Is there a tool that can refactor this C code correctly?

    - by Alex
    Lets say I have the following code (the array* function are what we use for resizable arrays and they operate on pointers-to-arrays that are null initialized): typedef struct MyStruct { int i; } MyStruct; MyStruct* GetNewMyStruct(int i) { MyStruct* s = malloc(sizeof(MyStruct)); s->i = i; return s; } int SomeFunction(int number, MyStruct *elem) { MyStruct **structs = NULL; int i; for (i = 0; i < number; i++) arrayPush(&structs, GetNewMyStruct(i)); arrayPush(&structs, elem); return arraySize(&structs); } I decide that SomeFunction is too large and I want refactor it. Currently where I work we use VisualAssist X, which has some refactoring capabilities, but when I use it on this it does not work correctly. If I attempt to use it to refactor out the loop, this is what I get: void MyMethod( int number, MyStruct ** structs ) { int i; for (i = 0; i < number; i++) arrayPush(&structs, GetNewMyStruct(i)); } int SomeFunction(int number, MyStruct *elem) { MyStruct **structs = NULL; MyMethod(number, structs); arrrayPush(&structs, elem); return arraySize(&structs); } This is not correct. MyMethod should take a MyStruct ***, not a MyStruct **. This is because the code I'm refactoring takes the address of structs. The result is that the refactored version will always return 1 (since only one object has been pushed into my array) rather than number+1. Are there other tools out there that do this type of refactoring correctly?

  • Optimizing a shared buffer in a producer/consumer multithreaded environment

    - by Etan
    I have some project where I have a single producer thread which writes events into a buffer, and an additional single consumer thread which takes events from the buffer. My goal is to optimize this thing for a single machine to achieve maximum throughput. Currently, I am using some simple lock-free ring buffer (lock-free is possible since I have only one consumer and one producer thread and therefore the pointers are only updated by a single thread). #define BUF_SIZE 32768 struct buf_t { volatile int writepos; volatile void * buffer[BUF_SIZE]; volatile int readpos;) }; void produce (buf_t *b, void * e) { int next = (b->writepos+1) % BUF_SIZE; while (b->readpos == next); // queue is full. wait b->buffer[b->writepos] = e; b->writepos = next; } void * consume (buf_t *b) { while (b->readpos == b->writepos); // nothing to consume. wait int next = (b->readpos+1) % BUF_SIZE; void * res = b->buffer[b->readpos]; b->readpos = next; return res; } buf_t *alloc () { buf_t *b = (buf_t *)malloc(sizeof(buf_t)); b->writepos = 0; b->readpos = 0; return b; } However, this implementation is not yet fast enough and should be optimized further. I've tried with different BUF_SIZE values and got some speed-up. Additionaly, I've moved writepos before the buffer and readpos after the buffer to ensure that both variables are on different cache lines which resulted also in some speed. What I need is a speedup of about 400 %. Do you have any ideas how I could achieve this using things like padding etc?

  • verifying the signature of x509

    Hi All, While verifying the certificate I am getting EVP_F_EVP_PKEY_GET1_DH My Aim - Verify the certificate signature. I am having 2 certificates : 1. a CA certificate 2. certificate issued by CA. I extracted the 'RSA Public Key (key)' Modulus From CA Certificate using, pPublicKey = X509_get_pubkey(x509); buf_len = (size_t) BN_num_bytes (bn); key = (unsigned char *)malloc (buf_len); n = BN_bn2bin (bn, (unsigned char *) key); if (n != buf_len) LOG(ERROR," : key error\n"); if (key[0] & 0x80) LOG(DEBUG, "00\n"); Now, I have CA public key & CA key length and also having certificate issued by CA in buffer, buffer length & public key. To verify the signature, I have following code int iRet1, iRet2, iRet3, iReason; iRet1 = EVP_VerifyInit(&md_ctx, EVP_sha1()); iRet2 = EVP_VerifyUpdate(&md_ctx, buf, buflen); iRet3 = EVP_VerifyFinal(&md_ctx, (const unsigned char *)CAkey, CAkeyLen, pubkey); iReason = ERR_get_error(); if(ERR_GET_REASON(iReason) == EVP_F_EVP_PKEY_GET1_DH) { LOG(ERROR, "EVP_F_EVP_PKEY_GET1_DH\n"); } LOG(INFO,"EVP_VerifyInit returned %d : EVP_VerifyUpdate returned %d : EVP_VerifyFinal = %d \n", iRet1, iRet2, iRet3); EVP_MD_CTX_cleanup(&md_ctx); EVP_PKEY_free(pubkey); if (iRet3 != 1) { LOG(ERROR,"EVP_VerifyFinal() failed\n"); ret = -1; } LOG(INFO,"signature is valid\n"); I am unable to figure out What might went wrong??? Please if anybody faced same issues? What EVP_F_EVP_PKEY_GET1_DH Error means? Thanks in Advance - opensid

  • Risking the exception anti-pattern.. with some modifications

    Lets say that I have a library which runs 24x7 on certain machines. Even if the code is rock solid, a hardware fault can sooner or later trigger an exception. I would like to have some sort of failsafe in position for events like this. One approach would be to write wrapper functions that encapsulate each api a: returnCode=DEFAULT; try { returnCode=libraryAPI1(); } catch(...) { returnCode=BAD; } return returnCode; The caller of the library then restarts the whole thread, reinitializes the module if the returnCode is bad. Things CAN go horribly wrong. E.g. if the try block(or libraryAPI1()) had: func1(); char *x=malloc(1000); func2(); if func2() throws an exception, x will never be freed. On a similar vein, file corruption is a possible outcome. Could you please tell me what other things can possibly go wrong in this scenario?

  • x509 certificate verification in C

    - by sid
    Hi All, I do have certificates in DER and PEM format, My goal is to retrieve the fields of Issuer and Subject And verify the Certificate with the CA public key and simultaneously verify CA certificate with the Root public key. I am able to retrieve all the details of issuer and subject But unable to verify the certificate. Please help. The API's used, x509 = d2i_X509_fp (fp, &x509); //READING DER Format x509 = PEM_read_X509 (fp, &x509, NULL, NULL); //READING PEM Format X509_NAME_oneline(X509_get_subject_name(x509), subject, sizeof (subject)); //to retrive the Subject X509_NAME_oneline(X509_get_issuer_name(x509), issuer, sizeof (issuer)); //to retrive the Issuer // to store the CA public key (in unsigned char *key)that will be used to verify the certificate (My case Always sha1WithRSAEncryption) RSA *x = X509_get_pubkey(x509)->pkey.rsa; bn = x->n; //extracts the bytes from public key & convert into unsigned char buffer buf_len = (size_t) BN_num_bytes (bn); stored_CA_pubKey = (unsigned char *)malloc (buf_len); i_n = BN_bn2bin (bn, (unsigned char *)stored_CA_pubKey); if (i_n != buf_len) LOG(ERROR," : key error\n"); if (key[0] & 0x80) LOG(DEBUG, "00\n"); stored_CA_pubKeyLen = EVP_PKEY_size(X509_get_pubkey(x509)); For Verification I went through different approaches but unable to verify a) i_x509_verify = X509_verify(cert_x509, ca_pubkey); b) /* verify the signature */ int iRet1, iRet2, iReason; iRet1 = EVP_VerifyInit(&md_ctx, EVP_sha1()); iRet2 = EVP_VerifyUpdate(&md_ctx, cert_code, cert_code_len); rv = EVP_VerifyFinal(&md_ctx, (const unsigned char *)stored_CA_pubKey, stored_CA_pubKeyLen, cert_pubkey); NOTE : cert_code & stored_CA_pubKey is unsigned char buffer. • Problem with setjmp/longjmp

    - by user294732
    The code below is just not working. Can anybody point out why #define STACK_SIZE 1524 static void mt_allocate_stack(struct thread_struct *mythrd) { unsigned int sp = 0; void *stck; stck = (void *)malloc(STACK_SIZE); sp = (unsigned int)&((stck)); sp = sp + STACK_SIZE; while((sp % 8) != 0) sp--; #ifdef linux (mythrd->saved_state[0]).__jmpbuf[JB_BP] = (int)sp; (mythrd->saved_state[0]).__jmpbuf[JB_SP] = (int)sp-500; #endif } void mt_sched() { fprintf(stdout,"\n Inside the mt_sched"); fflush(stdout); if ( current_thread->state == NEW ) { if ( setjmp(current_thread->saved_state) == 0 ) { mt_allocate_stack(current_thread); fprintf(stdout,"\n Jumping to thread = %u",current_thread->thread_id); fflush(stdout); longjmp(current_thread->saved_state, 2); } else { new_fns(); } } } All I am trying to do is to run the new_fns() on a new stack. But is is showing segmentation fault at new_fns(). Can anybody point me out what's wrong.

  • What is a NULL value

    - by Adi
    I am wondering , what exactly is stored in the memory when we say a particular variable pointer to be NULL. suppose I have a structure, say typdef struct MEM_LIST MEM_INSTANCE; struct MEM_LIST { char *start_addr; int size; MEM_INSTANCE *next; }; MEM_INSTANCE *front; front = (MEM_INSTANCE*)malloc(sizeof(MEM_INSTANCE*)); -1) If I make front=NULL. What will be the value which actually gets stored in the different fields of the front, say front-size ,front-start_addr. Is it 0 or something else. I have limited knowledge in this NULL thing. -2) If I do a free(front); It frees the memory which is pointed out by front. So what exactly free means here, does it make it NULL or make it all 0. -3) What can be a good strategy to deal with initialization of pointers and freeing them . Thanks in advance

  • Mac OS X and static boost libs -> std::string fail

    - by Ionic
    Hi all, I'm experiencing some very weird problems with static boost libraries under Mac OS X 10.6.6. The error message is main(78485) malloc: *** error for object 0x1000e0b20: pointer being freed was not allocated *** set a breakpoint in malloc_error_break to debug [1] 78485 abort (core dumped) and a tiny bit of example code which will trigger this problem: #define BOOST_FILESYSTEM_VERSION 3 #include <boost/filesystem.hpp> #include <iostream> int main (int argc, char **argv) { std::cout << boost::filesystem::current_path ().string () << '\n'; } This problem always occurs when linking the static boost libraries into the binary. Linking dynamically will work fine, though. I've seen various reports for quite a similar OS X bug with GCC 4.2 and the _GLIBCXX_DEBUG macro set, but this one seems even more generic, as I'm neither using XCode, nor setting the macro (even undefining it does not help. I tried it just to make sure it's really not related to this problem.) Does anybody have any pointers to why this is happening or even maybe a solution (rather than using the dynamic library workaround)? Best regards, Mihai

  • Declaration, allocation and assignment of an array of pointers to function pointers

    - by manneorama
    Hello Stack Overflow! This is my first post, so please be gentle. I've been playing around with C from time to time in the past. Now I've gotten to the point where I've started a real project (a 2D graphics engine using SDL, but that's irrelevant for the question), to be able to say that I have some real C experience. Yesterday, while working on the event system, I ran into a problem which I couldn't solve. There's this typedef, //the void parameter is really an SDL_Event*. //but that is irrelevant for this question. typedef void (*event_callback)(void); which specifies the signature of a function to be called on engine events. I want to be able to support multiple event_callbacks, so an array of these callbacks would be an idea, but do not want to limit the amount of callbacks, so I need some sort of dynamic allocation. This is where the problem arose. My first attempt went like this: //initial size of callback vector static const int initial_vecsize = 32; //our event callback vector static event_callback* vec = 0; //size static unsigned int vecsize = 0; void register_event_callback(event_callback func) { if (!vec) __engine_allocate_vec(vec); vec[vecsize++] = func; //error here! } static void __engine_allocate_vec(engine_callback* vec) { vec = (engine_callback*) malloc(sizeof(engine_callback*) * initial_vecsize); } First of all, I have omitted some error checking as well as the code that reallocates the callback vector when the number of callbacks exceed the vector size. However, when I run this code, the program crashes as described in the code. I'm guessing segmentation fault but I can't be sure since no output is given. I'm also guessing that the error comes from a somewhat flawed understanding on how to declare and allocate an array of pointers to function pointers. Please Stack Overflow, guide me.

  • Linked list example using threads

    - by Carl_1789
    I have read the following code of using CRITICAL_SECTION when working with multiple threads to grow a linked list. what would be the main() part which uses two threads to add to linked list? #include <windows.h> typedef struct _Node { struct _Node *next; int data; } Node; typedef struct _List { Node *head; CRITICAL_SECTION critical_sec; } List; List *CreateList() { List *pList = (List*)malloc(sizeof(pList)); pList->head = NULL; InitializeCriticalSection(&pList->critical_sec); return pList; } void AddHead(List *pList, Node *node) { EnterCriticalSection(&pList->critical_sec); node->next = pList->head; pList->head = node; LeaveCriticalSection(&pList->critical_sec); } void Insert(List *pList, Node *afterNode, Node *newNode) { EnterCriticalSection(&pList->critical_sec); if (afterNode == NULL) { AddHead(pList, newNode); } else { newNode->next = afterNode->next; afterNode->next = newNode; } LeaveCriticalSection(&pList->critical_sec); } Node *Next(List *pList, Node *node) { Node* next; EnterCriticalSection(&pList->critical_sec); next = node->next; LeaveCriticalSection(&pList->critical_sec); return next; }
