  • How to get all visible markers on current zoom level

    Here are some points: 1) I have some markers on the map and records associated with it on the right panel besides the map. They are connected via numeric id, which is stored as a property of marker. 2) All the markers are stored in an array. 3) When the user zooms in the map, records, associated to only visible markers should be shown on the right panel. So, how to get the list of all visible markers on the current zoom level? I've searched over the internet and didn't find something useful. Some kind of what I'm trying to achieve could be found here

  • infoWindow on MarkerClusterer

    I need infoWindow to be opened instead of zooming in map, when clicking on the ClusterMarker. I am using Gmaps util library MarkerClusterer for creating cluster of markers. I tried changing following line in markerclusterer.js ClusterMarker_.prototype = new GOverlay(); with ClusterMarker_.prototype = new GMarker(); so that I can get the openInfoWindow() function in the clustermarker, but that didnt worked out. Got some error. If possible, Please suggest solution so that this can be done with MarkerClusterer. Or else any other library which will be able to do this. Any help will be appreciated.

    hey guys couple of quick questions 1) In the local search results - we can get a lot of parameters like street title, address, city, state, lat, long , url etc - In order for me to uniquely identify this record - can I consider URL to be unique to this address or concatenation of latitude and longitude Ref: http://code.google.com/apis/ajaxsearch/documentation/reference.html#_class_GlocalResult 2) In terms of usage, depending upon what user enters, I'm displaying a list of local business for the user to choose. Now when a user selects a particular business address - is it legal for me to store that business address along with lat and longitude information in my database for future look ups. I've seen a lot of blogs talking about storing the lat/long info but just want to be sure that i'm not violating and google rules. Thanks

  • How to center map on marker and open marker's InfoWindow in one method

    I'm using Google Map APIv2. On my webpage I've a sidebar containing a list of markers with onclick event executing showDetails method, that looks like: GMarker.prototype.showDetails=function() { map.panTo(this.getLatLng()); this.openInfoWindowHtml(this.details); }; The problem is that i cannot both panTo and openInfoWindowHtml in one method, it pans but won't open tooltip and when i change method to: GMarker.prototype.showDetails=function() { this.openInfoWindowHtml(this.details); map.panTo(this.getLatLng()); }; it opens tooltip but won't center map to the marker's anchor coordinates. Even using wait function doesn't solve my problem. What am I doing wrong?

  • Need help writing jQuery to loop through table and inject markers into google map?

    I am new to jQuery. I've done some simple things with it but what I am attempting now is a over my head and I need some help. I am building a locator for all the firearms dealers in the US for a client. I am working within Drupal. I have a proximity search by zip code that works great. If you search by zip a list of paginated results shows up in an html table that can by paged through via ajax. I would like a map to be above this list with markers corresponding to the names and addresses being listed. I already have all the lat and long values in the table results. I want the script to update the markers and automatically zoom to fit the markers in the view when a user changes the sort order of the table or pages through the results. Also, I'd like to have a hover highlight effect over the rows of the table that simultaneously highlight the corresponding marker, and have a click on the table row equal a click on a marker that pops up a marker info window to be populated using jQuery to read the name and address fields of the table. Hope this all makes sense. I know I'm putting a lot out there, I'm not asking for someone to write the whole script, just wanted to give as many details as possible. Thanks for any help. I'm just lost when it comes to looping and moving data around.   • Transportation Web App - utilizing google or bing map api

    I am working on a transportation web app and I am having a bit of a problem. First, I want to be able to define a shipping corridor, say like I-95 between Baltimore MD and Richmond VA. And store what parameters I need to define this route. Users will then use a web interface and can select various routes, in this case, I-95. Vendors will be posting constantly changing pickup locations in the application database which have a shelf life of about 2 days. Some of these locations maybe along this route. I am storing the LAT and LONG for the specific location right now. If any of these points ARE along or within 2 mile of the route (just off the highway basically - the ideal check would based on an actual highway exit but at this point anything would work), I want them to show up in my search results. Any ideas or suggestions?

  • GMap in iframe gets off-center

    I have a Google Map (API 2) that used to work fine as a standalone page. However, when I load the map page within an iframe (with Thickbox), the map gets off-center: normally it's centered over Germany and in the iframe it centers on Iran, instead. How to make the map center correctly? My guesses: The problem can result from the iframe loading time. I guess, that the script calculates window size basing on the iframe size when it's still loading. It's strange since I load the map when the document is ready. $(document).ready(function() { setupSearchForm(); setupMap(); setupResults(); }); For instance, when I refresh the already loaded iframe the center comes back to Germany.     I have an asp.net website which as part of a wizard uses an embedded google map to select a location by clicking on the map to place a marker. How do I automate this with Selenium? In particular I've tried: ClickAt DoubleClickAt MouseDownAt MouseUpAt In all cases passing the map div id as the locator and "100,100" as the coordinate. I don't care where on the map the marker is placed, as long as I can place that marker.

  • What states does my route travel through?

    I've got a page that has a map with a starting and ending location. I run a route between them to get the nifty line showing the route. I'm currently using Bing but have attempted with Google as well. I'd like to know which states this route passes through so I can then overlay those states with specific information. Any suggestions on how to obtain this would be most appreciated. I'm using the AJAX SDK's for both Bing and Google. Handling all the local stuff with js/jquery.

  • Do not fire 'zoom_changed' event when calling fitBounds function on map

    Is there a way to prevent the zoom_change event from being triggered if it occurs due to fitBounds() ? I am having an issue where I need to do a search on the server from client when there is a zoom change to map but every time I call fitBounds() it causes zoom_change to trigger which causes the client to do another search on the server. I am only interested in zoom_change done by users and not programmatically using fitBounds.

  • GoogleMaps API v3 - Need help with two "click" event scenarios. Need similar functionality to v2 AP

    In version 2 of the API the map click event returned an Overlay, LatLng, Overlaylatlng. I used this to create a generic map event that would either retrieve the coordinates of the Map click event, or return the coordinates of a Marker or other type of Overlay. Now that API v3 doesn't return the Overlay or Overlaylatlng during the map click event, how can I go about creating a generic "click" event for the map that works if the user clicks on a marker or overlay? I really don't want to create a click event for each marker I have on my page as I am creating anywhere from a handful to a couple thousand markers. Also, I had to create a custom ImageMapType in order to display the StreetViewOverlay like we could do in v2 of the API because I couldn't find anywhere that told me how to add the StreetViewOverlay without the pegman icon. How can I go about retrieving the LatLng coordinates of a click on this overlay type as well?

    In the example fiddle, how can I get the total number of markers displayed on the map? I'm pushing each of the markers into an array like this: markers.push(marker) And attempting to get the total number of markers like this: $('.marker-count span').html(markers.length); Unfortunately, "markers.length" is returning 0 when it should be returning at least 3. I have example code here: http://jsfiddle.net/287C7/ How can I display the total number of markers? Is it not possible to add each marker to my array? I need to know the amount of markers shown so that I can alert the user if there are none. Thanks,

  • Does Google's Geocoding API return results that are more accurate than Google Maps or the same?

    I am thinking about using python or C++ in conjunction with google's geocoding API. Since geocoding is the process of turning street addresses into coordinates, I was wondering how google does this. I am looking for something that will give me coordinates that are around 50 meters away from the entrance of the location at a specified address. There are a few problems with this when you use google maps however. If you aren't doing it manually, sometimes google maps will place a marker for an address just on the road and not over the place (especially for addresses in malls, places far off the road, etc). Does the geocoding api give you more accurate coordinates or does it simply copy the coordinates of what a google maps marker would give you? I hope this makes sense. Thanks.
