    When we command "net use" on command prompt, the result has four columns. Status Local Remote Network OK Z: \\10.x.x.x\Public Microsoft Windows Network X: \\10.y.y.y\Public My Network Redirector The Microsoft Windows Network(SMB)'s Status has OK value, but we don't. It's just empty. We implemented NPEnumResource function in our Network Provider dll. But I don't know how can I set the value(OK). How can I do that? Thanks

  • Win 2008 R2 terminal server and redirected printer queue security

    I have a case where I need a non-priv account to be able to make a modification to the redirected printer. I know, its not advisable but we're not giving them access - changes will be made in code. So, following the docs (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee524015(WS.10).aspx) I modified the default security for new printer queues. This doesnt work though as windows doesn't seem to assign the privs you configure in the printer admin tool to redirected printer queues. As I test I added a non-priv test user to the default security tab in the printer admin tool (control panel - admin tools - printer admin. I assigned it all privs (its a test) and logged the user into the terminal server. The redirected printers duely appeared as usual. However if I open the printer properties - security tab, the user appears in the list of accounts/groups but the options I selected (all privs) are not set. Instead the user special privs box is marked and when I click on 'advanced options' and view them, there is nothing marked. So, something is clearing these options.... the question is, why and how can I convince it not to? Ian

  • Print from Linux to Windows networked printer

    I want to print from a Debian (Lenny) workstation to a Windows networked printer. I'm not even sure what type of Windows network this is. Our tech-support is friendly but doesn't want to get involved with supporting Linux. I need to use it for a variety of reasons and am completely stumped because I know nothing about Windows networking. They gave me URI smb://msprint.ourorg.edu as the "address" of the printer and further confirmed that the domain is "OURORG" and the share is "PHYS-PRI". I've installed CUPS and made sure that it's running as a daemon, I've clicked on the system-config-printer[1] icon, selected the printer as a Windows printer shared via SAMBA and entered the above URI. Attempting to print a testpage just sees it sit in the queue. I attempted to see if I could access the share using two other methods. Method 1. First I tried the "smbclient" from the CLI: $ smbclient -L //msprint.ourorg.edu -U user23 timeout connecting to 192.168.44.3:445 timeout connecting to 192.168.44.3:139 Connection to msprint.ourorg.edu failed (Error NT_STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED) Method 2. I tried to use the GUI tool Smb4K. This shows me four other toplevel (I'm assuming they're domains?) groupings one of which is the one which our IT department supplied to me. Clicking them shows a bunch of other machines with (what I assume are NetBIOS names?) including my own. I see all sorts of other networked printers belonging to other departments but none within mine. Certainly not the PHYS-PRI one suggested to me by the IT folks. I realize that I'm probably using the wrong terminology for the windows network, but can anyone help me with this? What steps should I be taking in debugging this? Do I need to actually run my machine as a SAMBA server to authenticate to the printer or should I just be able to communicate using CUPS?     Hey, I've got a Sony Dye-Sub printer that holds ink/paper sets - i.e. a very certain amount of ink and paper for ~200 prints. This information is available to me from within Control Panel Printers Preferences Printer Device Information (i.e. current 189 remaining prints). Any way I can perhaps get this information from the command line? I'd like to write a little program to tell me when the number of prints gets low (i.e. < 20), rather than suffer the annoying Windows "run out of paper" popup. I've found the Windows VBScript print utilities, but can't seem to find the request I need for this. Any suggestions? Jason

However, I can't seem to share printers between them: when I right-click on the printer I expect to see "share printer" but there is no option for that. When I read about "share printers" in the Windows 7 help, it talks about this computer "not being able to connect to a home network", yet they seem to be connected fine (I can share files between them). Why can't I share printers between the computers if I can share files?

    Hi, I apologize for the crudeness of my MSPaint drawing, but please view my diagram of what I'd like to accomplish: Proposed home network architecture Currently, all devices are connected to 1 wireless router. I would like to make my own subnet, with a box in-between my subnet and the shared wireless router, so that I can learn about IDS, traffic analysis, etc. I was also given a cisco PIX firewall to play around with, and it'd be an added bonus if I could incorporate that into my network. The reason for this proposed architecture is so that I can monitor all MY traffic, without seeing anything going on with my roommates' traffic. my MAIN Question is, is it possible to have my desktop connect to the wireless router with internet via wireless card AND share that connection via the ethernet card, hooked to wireless router 2? cable modem - wireless router - desktop pc connected wirelessly - wireless router 2 getting internet from wired connection to desktop pc - laptops connected wirelessly The PIX can be left out for now, but I'm wondering if it could eventually be incorporated?     Here is my problem: my printer and scanner (HP psc2410xi) prints darker than the photos taken and teh scanner has a background fuzz. I want to create and install files to have the printer lighten the photos it prints (yellow becomes dark yellow, etc) and delete the "fuzz" from the scanner image (you can see it on a blank scan and yes I did clean the scanner). I'm thinking there is a way to take a printed image, scan that in, and subtract the two images from each other to get the correction factor.

Indeed the webpage http://www.samsung.com/uk/consumer/print-solutions/print-solutions/mono-multi-function-products/SCX-5737FW/SEE-spec tells me that the printer is supported up to Ubuntu 10.     As per subject. I've found some ways of scripting printer creation on Windows print servers using WMI, but it looks like WMI doesn't support clustered print servers (or clustered servers at all). The scripts in C:\Windows\System32\Printing_Admin_Scripts are useless because, they are not cluster-aware and end up creating the printers on the active cluster node (just like using WMI). The only tool I found that was able to work on a clustered print server is printui.exe (shortcut for rundll32 printui.dll, PrintUIEntry), but it can't create TCP printing ports: it can only add printers if the port already exists. How can I completely script printer creation (including TCP printing ports!) on a clustered Windows Server 2008 R2 print server?
